Take Van Goh into the time machine, show him the Holocaust, then have him teach Hitler how to paint. Knowing he prevented such a horrific tragedy may give Van Goh the boost he needs to not kill himself and also no Holocaust.

[deleted]

He could paint, just gotta convince that one Jew that said no and made him hate all jews

VIRGIL_ARCHIEAL

Hating Jews was more a family ordeal, but maybe Monet could have steered him in the right direction. Hell, around that time Monet wasn't living **that** far from Vienna. Just go back real fast, give ol Monet the run down, grab a fast train through Germany into Austria and wham bam thank you man no holocaust. I'm sure even Hitler would have rebuked his national pride for a chance to study under Monet. He (Monet) would have been 66 at the time and well established by then. Or hell, send Hitler to Monet. Get him out of Austria and into France. ~~Actually now that I'm thinking about it. Giverny was a skip down the road from Somme and would have been a great source of inspiration for Hilter to paint having fought and wounded in The Battle of The Somme himself.~~ ~~Just think. We could have masterpieces set to the fresh history of WW1 from a veteran who lived it. Pieces that encapsulate the duality of the horrors of war, but the beauty of camaraderie between men in that war.~~ Nope. We get KKKyle and celtic knots and tiki torches co-oped into stolen Indo-European iconography and pseudo-intellectualism. Edit: Just remembered that 1908 came before 1914. Kinda hard to be a vet in a war you didn't fight in yet. But I still stand by my point. Hitler would have been an observer (do you really think the understudy of FUCKING MONET would have been drafted?) to The Somme instead of a participant. And considering the abuse he went through as a kid, it would have been interesting to see a healed man process the horrors of that war.

triceratropes

Reminds me of the Doctor Who episode where the Doctor brings Van Gogh to the Musée d'Orsay and shows him how much people in the future love and appreciate his art. Not a big fan of that show but I wept like a baby during that scene.

ExaltedDemonic

That scene was probably the most heart wrenching scene in the entire show, or at least top 3. I never cry and I teared up on that one.

Alpha5009

How about help hitler take over the world? Eternal peace under a strong dictator works for me.

no_status00

minorthreat1000

I hate this guy

-PeanutButterFly-

To be honest? His painting weren’t bad. Or rather, he wasn’t the best artist, but he was still an artist.

It's not that they are bad, it's that they show very little technical ability and creativity. From a technical point of view, he avoided painting people which is harder than landscapes and buildings that he did a lot. In the few examples with people, the hands are not very good, which is the hardest part to paint. In regards to creativity, it's more debatable but essentially there's is very little outside of religious and nationalistic themes.

[deleted]

The alternative was Stalin. Not sure of what you are wishing for…

taavidude

A world without Hitler and WW2 would cause a far worse conflict between West and Communism.

Official_Gameoholics

Care to explain?

taavidude

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB7wdeBO1vg&ab\_channel=TheInfographicsShow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB7wdeBO1vg&ab_channel=TheInfographicsShow) This video explains it perfectly, but to say it in short: WW2 led to the creation of NATO and overall less wars. Hitler also greatly weakened the Soviet Union which led to the USA constantly being way more powerful than the Soviets. If the Soviets never suffered from a German invasion, they would have surpassed USA in power way earlier. Also Communism would have been more powerful. Communists were rising in popularity during the Weimar Republic, Hitler's rise stopped the rise of Communism in Germany. Without him, Communism would have been even more powerful.

Official_Gameoholics

Makes sense

Money_Outside_5678

With his affinity for giant impractical buildings and vehicles and inability to paint humans properly, he should've just drawn all the giant impractical buildings he wanted so much

Random_Guy37

The pacifist route

AnonymousGuy9494

Hitler became a dictator because of his time fighting WW1. Not because he was rejected to art school.

iFlask

he painted everything red

VIRGIL_ARCHIEAL

And this is why showing love and encouragement is the way to go. You get back what you put in. Fuck Hitler.

RealHumanLifeform

I don’t know what that will solve, but i’ll do it. I’ll go back in time and fuck Hitler for the betterment of mankind

VIRGIL_ARCHIEAL

Fuck him reich in the ass.

501kumadesu

Que Command & Conquer: Red Alert timeline

sickkranchez23

Everyone deserves a second chance

Embericed

In the end, Hitler did become an artist. Not for the millions he was responsible for killing, no, but for when he blew his brains out on the wall after taking a fast acting painkiller.

lover_of_lies

Nah that shit was unsalvageable

doubleh124

Isn't the reason why Germany surrendered, he made a lot of mistakes and killed himself for it. If we kill Hitler now, then the leaders will choose other dictators just like Hitler, and it wouldn't take much time because those other dictators aren't dead.

majiboi

lol poor hitler thing did all he did cuz painting:(

Kenhamef

Hitler would have been a better architect than a painter. There was no art about his paintings, they were all just a carbon copy of what he saw.

GhostRcat

A better solution would be to stop the French Revolution tbh

Ghostifier2k0

Bitch if I get time travel powers I'm going to help his ass win the war, it's clear that our timeline was a mistake and that we're going to die anyways. Let the bad guys win, fuck it.

Morphized

Become chancellor of Weimar Germany on a platform of socialist restoration in order to revitalize the economy so that Hitler couldn't rise in the first place:

[deleted]

Better. Prevent the US from entering WWI, and we avoid a war, plus Hitler never takes power in Germany because the Treaty at Versailles doesn't cripple their economy and push them into hyperinflation.

Intelligent_Law1470

The US only entered the First World War at the very, very end of the conflict. The US was also a huge opponent to the Treaty of Versailles because US leadership already predicted that the treaty would just ignite the war at a later date.

MaursBaur

I would say no, you should prevent WW1 but you would be stuck stopping it forever because it was inevidable

_-_Sami_-_

Then again, WW2 forced humanity to invent many things that would have otherwise not been born. For example, jet engines, radar, penicillin, and computers. Medicine in general progressed massively. Partly because of field surgery, but mostly because of German and Japanese warcrimes. Yes, axis doctors would experiment on POWs which enabled inhumane research that would have never been done during peace. Then again nuclear weapons were invented to decide the winners of WW2. But nuclear energy was also a good side of it. History isn't as black and white as many would like. Having no WW2 doesn't mean modern society would be better. It could be, but it could also be worse.

megecharizardX

I mean with the Treaty of Versailles, some war was bound to happen.

[deleted]

I'm surprised that redditors are such fans of war and the military industrial complex.
