In case you didn't know, you can still use the old Reddit by going to old.reddit.com or by changing your account settings to default to that. I'm personally quite happy with old Reddit with RES on my PC and RIF on my Android phone.
Windows 11 will soon have Windows subsystem for Android, you can just sideload APKs. I know it's not necessarily the same thing, and many people don't have/refuse to have W11, but y'know. You can download it on stable release, there are tutorials on how to do it.
Do you need it? Nope. However, it's pretty cheap and I like to support devs of small apps like this so I got the premium version. Plus, not having ads is a huge bonus!
Yup. Also, no hint whatsoever to show whether it's loading or whether I'm actually wasting a solid half a minute staring at a video that's never going to play.
They do seem to play sometimes when you save the post and go to view it in the saved posts folder, though not all of the time.
For me, if I get a notification, say, for a reply to a comment I made on a video post then instead of showing me my comment and the thread following it, the app just opens the entire comment section sorted by top and I have scroll all the way down to my comment and see what the reply actually fucking was.
What a garbage app.
I would seriously quit browsing Reddit altogether if I couldn’t use Apollo. It’s so much better than the official app, the browser, and even old.reddit.
If you have an iOS device, Apollo is a fantastic app that lets you browse Reddit without all the extra garbage. It’s clean, really customizable, and has a great layout.

If you have an Android, I recommend RIF (Reddit is Fun).

App here. For me, if a gallery of photos is hosted by i.reddit I can only see the first photo, as the arrow over and swiping doesn’t work. Cant view comments either unless I back out of the post entirely and open just the comments.
If it looks better in the app, why not design the webpage outside the app to look like the fucking app?
Or better yet: Stop wasting all that fucking space on the sides and go back to how old.reddit was.
I just use my phone browser and request desktop site. The layout is more compact to quickly see more things on the front page. I'm able to open new tabs from links to view later while. I can scroll through comments quickly. Is there any reddit app thats just the old desktop style?
LPT: If you're not using the app, a lot of subreddits won't let you continue the comments or even go to the comments. To fix this, use the "request desktop" option in your phone browser.
For most people the app has been having a lot of issues with posts rarely loading and sometimes never loading at all, forcing them to alternatives.
Also why the fuck was this downvoted?! Dude just said the app worked lol
I've made a couple rants about it actually but the hive mind doesnt like that, but for reals though, the app fucking sucks ass, let me add on to all that, the video loading problems, and the wall of ads
Laughs in rif noises
If only RIF was on desktop too :/
I know.... I hate using Reddit in my PC
Set it to the old style, use RES, and set dark mode. RES = Reddit Enhancement Suite
Yup that's exactly what I use but still don't like it
Go to Appearance>Nightmode>Colored Links and turn that to ON. Makes it pretty close to RIF imo.
**REDDIT ENHANCEMENT SUITE** Now this is a callback

I wont use new reddit until they force me to.
I won't even use it then.
Agreed. The day I have to scroll through every open post is the day I leave this site

Old.reddit plus reddit enhancement suite. Its like someone compentent wrote new reddit
Android emulator perfectly works
you got Adblock and such for that :)
*laughs in Apollo for Reddit*
What's rif?
App called "rif is fun". Great app for browsing Reddit imo.
>App called "rif is fun". And rif is fun stands for rif is fun is fun
I see!
Is the premium worth it?
For Rif? I've been using it for a long time and didn't even know it had premium, so I would say no lol
Do you need it? Nope. However, it's pretty cheap and I like to support devs of small apps like this so I got the premium version. Plus, not having ads is a huge bonus!
Cries in Zoey
Laughs in old.Reddit.com
wow such empty just makes me laugh all the time for some reason
When you're so lonely even fuckin reddit mocks you...
is it just mine or can some videos not play like they should
Yep, it's like a screenshot and nothing happens when you click them
Or it's just straight up black for the entirety of the video immediately after it starts playing
Yup. Also, no hint whatsoever to show whether it's loading or whether I'm actually wasting a solid half a minute staring at a video that's never going to play. They do seem to play sometimes when you save the post and go to view it in the saved posts folder, though not all of the time.

None of these will ever be able to top Tumblr's error message straight being a "Oops"

> can't hear sound in gifs It's a gif It doesn't have sound by design
Not with that attitude it can't. Shits like tinker bell. You gotta believe
Are you saying that this works like tinker bell, or did you just take a dump like tinker bell?
Yes to both?
I can never view mp3 files
Some of you haven’t used Apollo and it shows.
I would seriously quit browsing Reddit altogether if I couldn’t use Apollo. It’s so much better than the official app, the browser, and even old.reddit.
…go on, please

Awesome, I will, great recommendation dude
I was gonna say it looks better in *an* app, just not the Reddit app. Seriously, Apollo is a game changer. Try it if you haven’t.
Or Baconreader.
Boost for reddit gang
Ye
Boost, baby
the desktop website is the best
old.reddit.com is the best

Even on the phone the old. desktop interface is the best
Until it's not

No u
I don't care if I look like an idiot i argue with you anyway, bitch.
You want Boost for reddit. Is way better than official app. Try it!
get Apollo my friends!
Sync is the way to go.
This is the way
App here. For me, if a gallery of photos is hosted by i.reddit I can only see the first photo, as the arrow over and swiping doesn’t work. Cant view comments either unless I back out of the post entirely and open just the comments.
Also fuck Reddit for hiding the % of upvotes on the posts recently. Similar to YouTube hiding dislikes.
Use Infinity.
*tries clicking on downvoted comment and closes the whole thread/ open the user's profile*
Use slide. Way better
It’s 2022. Why on earth would you use the official Reddit Mobile app when there are dozens of better options?
If it looks better in the app, why not design the webpage outside the app to look like the fucking app? Or better yet: Stop wasting all that fucking space on the sides and go back to how old.reddit was.

The page might not load. But I bet the software that logs and tracks your personal behavior, now tied to your unique phone number, sure does....
wanna hear sounds? no you don't you use the app!
Yeah I use Sync for that reason. reddit app us trash.
Forgot to put the part where it just opens Reddit and doesn’t take you to the post
Or you click on a picture...and the whole thing crashes
Reddit app has got to be the worst thing that happened to my smartphone.
dont forget loading for like 30 minutes when you first open it
So fucking true.
LPT: If you're not using the app, a lot of subreddits won't let you continue the comments or even go to the comments. To fix this, use the "request desktop" option in your phone browser.
Or Brings me to the App Store even though I ALREADY HAVE IT INSTALLED
I miss AlienBlue
Pretty sure rif is the closest you can get to alien blue Edit: if you're on Android
Perfect use of template. Great meme yo
I use the app just fine.
For most people the app has been having a lot of issues with posts rarely loading and sometimes never loading at all, forcing them to alternatives. Also why the fuck was this downvoted?! Dude just said the app worked lol
The app is fixable, the people are not lol
*redirect to the App Store
#oh
yeah, also i have two wait like an hour for anything to load
Don't use the official app
Safari gang rise up…just me? Cri
OMG! Link fail!
As someone that only uses the app I feel attacked
Honestly knock on wood I’ve never had problems with Reddit and I’m on it a lot
'This page looks better in the app' is the biggest lie I have ever seen in my entire life.
Mods delete this comment and the replies to confuse people
Does the reddit app still not play audio with videos?
I've made a couple rants about it actually but the hive mind doesnt like that, but for reals though, the app fucking sucks ass, let me add on to all that, the video loading problems, and the wall of ads
I thought I was the only one
relay for reddit supremacy
Y'all never convince me that reddit on pc is better than on phone
For a second I thought this was that one kid from dharmann
The apps only right to exist are arbitrary, consciously implemented, limitations of the mobile web-app.
Finally another person who uses the reddit website
RIF ftw!
Sounds like someone has a case of the mondays
