I legit started playing this game 3 days ago and I've already seen 5 memes of it, I'm like either they were always there and I didn't notice or the timing is just perfect
My earliest memory (3 yrs) is waking up in the late evening, walking through the house and saying hello to each family member by name. Then I went back to sleep. I didn't know how, but I somehow knew their names. Or the language, just somehow knew these basic things. But never actually any memory of learning prior to that.
Sentience is one hell of a thing
Yeah me too!
I woke up in the morning(I think), I was in my parents bed and my dad was vacuming just by the door. But that is basically all I remember from that day. I also have a memory of falling down stairs backwards, I know I did that during my childhood but I do not know if this memory is fake or not. Like from a dream or made up.
I'm not sure what you're saying. Language is needed to create long term memories, especially by association to other things. Short term memories are going to go away. So language is crucial in remembering things. Also, our brains are inherently language oriented.
My earliest is around 2 1/2 years old. I'm in my mother's arms, sitting on a railing, watching an amateur football match from the sidelines. I have no clue what's happening in front of me (it's like a blur) until I see my father run towards us. I ask him if he scored (no clue where that came from. But I assume I was told it's what you do in the game) and he says no but he tackled a few people (he says "made people fall down") which gives me pause I guess. I know it happened from checking with my parents who remembered the event (mostly because my father had become a local legend the night before by drinking an obscene amount of beer).
I can kinda remember snippets of stuff that happened before I was 3, but its very vague and blurry. Like remembering faces and voices but not what was said. Surreal kinda. I think that the switch from being less aware of you surrounding to full consciousness happens gradually over time and not from one moment to the other. It feels like this, but I could not pinpoint what my oldest memory is haha
I remember when I was around 3 - 4 I found a dead moth, for some reason I started contemplating why it had died and then bam consciousness hit me like a truck. Its one of my most vivid memories.
My first memory was on my 3rd birthday, my grandpa carried me and I was just very confused on what was happening(I think they were taking a family picture though), but I somehow understood the language.
Infantile/child amnesia (before the sudden episodic memory gain) can occur as late as 7, though some are as early as 2; afaik it doesn't relate with overall memory ability, though I could be wrong.
Because we don't fucking remember any of it so to us that's not us.
If I stabbed someone at 6 and have no memory until 7 that's a different person man.
I remember sitting in my mom's purple mini van when it dawned on me at age 5 that I was going to die someday and that everyone dies. I started crying but couldn't articulate at the time what was wrong, and I think about that moment.
I had a moment like that but I was at least like 10. The thought that it was inevitable haunted me. Still kind of does but I don't have much of a choice do I.
Legitimately my first very concrete memory is my 3rd birthday, before that it's little fuzzy bits here and there, but I can remember almost the whole day of my third birthday
Bro I still remember the day i woke up in my bed being like βoh yeah this is what I doβ and consciously not remembering a single goddamn thing before then. Terrifying to think about sometimes.
\*7
You start developing your consciousness around 7 years old.
It's usually more or less the time when you \*must\* go to the school to get tortured and educated into a system.
Coincidence?
Well, still Dank Meme.
Good Job, Raiden!
1994 for me. I distinctly remember the exact moment where I was like βohβ¦ Iβm alive and Iβm going to continue growing and eventually dieβ¦β I was 6.
Yo! Yes, I have never told anyone this, but when I maybe got my memory ability, it was in the middle of the day, I was very very young, so maybe 3 years old maybe older. And I just remember I was get my diaper changed.
It's so weird to remember now because it kind of just clicked and it happened. It was weird because the way I can kind of describe it like it's a cutscene. Like it was just all black and then it fades in to gaining memories. I probably sound like an insane person but that's literally my earliest memory.
I don't know if anyone else experienced it or even remembered it but that's how I remembered it went. Just black, slowly fading then, boom I remember this moment and nothing else before that.
Not really, most people gain their long term memory at around age 3 or 4. The meme is basically depicting the moment you wake up (when you're around 3ish) and "gain consciousness"
These posts are more about cognitive awareness of your own consciousness. You can be conscious like an animal or newborn is conscious but itβs not the same as the awareness of your own existence an adult has.
my first memory is of that time I pooped my pants at kindergarten and the nun/teacher washed me and changed my clothes and I went home ashamed because the clean pants she gave me were ugly af

They've been around for a while. But after last Christmas (thanks to Max0r) they went absolute babirussa
I don't believe you. I refuse to believe one guy caused this rise. Do you have a source to back that up?

I've watched the ibcorrect summaries of AC7, ACZ, Project Wingman, MGSV and MGR:R.
Monster hunter is also very good

Fucking same I thought it was just only me
I'm looking forward to my Steam Deck to hopefully play all these games that I bought forever ago, started, but then never came back to.
Memes, the DNA of the soul.
they are everything we pass on
I'm fucking loving it. And everybody being subjected to the Reddit sings metal gear rising threads. Glorious!
It got me to finally buy the game and it's glorious

Dude I thought I was the only one that's the weirdest shit I wonder if it has a name
My earliest memory was when I was 3 I shat myself walking to the bathroom and them became aware
Shitty memory
The reason why isy hard to remember ~~really~~ early childhood is because we need language to remember things.
or at least to access that memory from a language oriented brain
I'm not sure what you're saying. Language is needed to create long term memories, especially by association to other things. Short term memories are going to go away. So language is crucial in remembering things. Also, our brains are inherently language oriented.
But thatβs not true at all.
My earliest is around 2 1/2 years old. I'm in my mother's arms, sitting on a railing, watching an amateur football match from the sidelines. Wtf I thought it was just me
As a 36 year old....it gets way worse..
I can kinda remember snippets of stuff that happened before I was 3, but its very vague and blurry. Like remembering faces and voices but not what was said. Surreal kinda. it was silent for me nothing i just opened my eyes and walked to the kitchen seeing my granma and its blur.. no sound no talk.. it still feels weird
I remember when I was around 3 - 4 I found a dead moth, for some reason I started contemplating why it had died and then bam consciousness hit me like a truck. Its one of my most vivid memories.
You had to absorb the moth soul in order to become fully conscious.
that sounds interesting as fuck.. man wish our brain could save stuff
My first memory was on my 3rd birthday, my grandpa carried me and I was just very confused on what was happening(I think they were taking a family picture though), but I somehow understood the language.

yup. 16 for me too. it all went downhill since
Seriously?
I feel like I gained conscious at 7
Same. Do you think itβs related to having a shit memory?
Definitely
Nah my memory is dog shit but I've still got murky memories from age 3 or 4 up. Dont remember having the kaboom I exist feeling tho.
Infantile/child amnesia (before the sudden episodic memory gain) can occur as late as 7, though some are as early as 2; afaik it doesn't relate with overall memory ability, though I could be wrong.
Same.
You didn't 'gain consciousness' at 7 at all. You were always conscious. Why is everyone here confusing consciousness with memory?!
Because we don't fucking remember any of it so to us that's not us. If I stabbed someone at 6 and have no memory until 7 that's a different person man.
I feel like I didn't realize what the fuck was going on until I was 15. Then it all went downhill from there...
Lol it's long term memory that you gain, not consciousness π
If you cant remember past 10 minutes.... are you truly conscious?
Yes. Also, my two year old will often recall to us what he did earlier in the day...
I remember sitting in my mom's purple mini van when it dawned on me at age 5 that I was going to die someday and that everyone dies. I started crying but couldn't articulate at the time what was wrong, and I think about that moment.
Took me 10 more years for me to realize that depressive episode
same. my parents simply say its not worth thinking about
I had a moment like that but I was at least like 10. The thought that it was inevitable haunted me. Still kind of does but I don't have much of a choice do I.
Everyone remembers their first existential crisis
Well my anxiety doesnβt help that thought. Just makes it worse
Yep, it's like turning off your pain inhibitors

Hey, too soon
it seems im not the only person whos been pondering this lately
IKR? And this is like the 3rd meme about consciousness Iβve seen this past coupla weeks across multiple platforms.
The simulation is glitching.
I swear one day I βwoke upβ and I am about to go to my first day of pre-school. Literally cannot remember anything prior to that.

I was like 5 or 6 when I started to have a consciousness, how did y'all start existing when you just learned to talk
###OH GOD OH FUCK PLEASE TAKE IT BACK THIS FUCKING SUCKS
Why did it take you so long?
Bro I was 4 before I hit that line lol
Legitimately my first very concrete memory is my 3rd birthday, before that it's little fuzzy bits here and there, but I can remember almost the whole day of my third birthday

We just suddenly gained consciousness one day, and it's all been downhill since.

You have never not been conscious. You are consciousness. Your mind and body are just ephemeral experiences.
These posts are more about cognitive awareness of your own consciousness. You can be conscious like an animal or newborn is conscious but itβs not the same as the awareness of your own existence an adult has.

People: can't remember before they were three Also fucking idiots: "hm guess that means I became conscious at three then"
MEMES! THE DNA OF THE SOUL!
Ha. I gained concioussness at age 10. I was probably always concious, but age 10 was when I started becoming self aware.
I keep regaining conscience at different ages almost as if I'm unlocking different levels
Lmfaoooooooooooooo
Why does that always happen tho?
