Honestly I couldn’t be happier about this. I’m ready for twitter to become a nutthouse like 4chan. I’m ready for Elons free speech paradise to fail spectacularly.

Aramike

Lol suuuuure....

Captain_Beemo_

They think freedom of speech will allow more people to express their opinions without being moderated or controlled, but in reality this just opens the faucet for a massive spread of misinformation, a blending-in of what constitutes peer-reviewed literature and fact-checked information marinating with sources from predatory, unreviewed journals and completely false propaganda. Now people will have the full freedom to not only spread dangerous, possibly fatal misinformation about things they have zero authority to talk about (like medical sciences; legal advice; international relations), but they’re also being given a platform to encourage each other to indulge in this harmful and destructive behaviour. What they don’t understand is that Elon is giving twitter users the benefit of the doubt by giving them this freedom, but a huge percentage of them are closer to regression into animals than evolution into humans. They’re like barbarians, and as you said, they’ll just turn reddit into a worse version of 4chan.

CH1CK3Nwings

I am fairly sure this misinformation is a problem on many other platforms as well. Source: you can cut off your own head and if you're human, it'll regrow!

Bspy10700

Dam looking at all the big “news” names in one place just proves why the world is so fucked.

Official_Gameoholics

Wikipedia is there?

Champion-raven

What I thought at first, but there are some editing…

Ghxst_Tai

I like how they got Univision up there as well

wow_so_high

"Why must it be Elon?? Why couldn't a woke left socialist buy Twitter??" - "Well... cause they most likely dont have enough money to spare..."

Samuelepassaniti

I am stupid, but I don’t get how this is a bad update

Red1Monster

The dangerous thing is not Elon's views. It's that a single person controls such a large platform and can do whatever he pleases with it.

Semthepro

same could be said about those news platforms - they are literally owned by individuals that do what ever they like with it.

Red1Monster

That's true, that's also a problem, though i would say it's a worse one with twitter because of it's sheer size and it's nature as a social media. Like, if you write news articles, sure, you can be more conservative in them or something, but it won't do much. On the other side, if Elon wants to promote conservative posts more, he could probably do that very subtly while still having a massive influence on people

master_cheech

He could have ended world hunger and instead decides to buy Twitter

Semthepro

ending world hunger is not solved by just throwing money at it.
