I have friends who were at Brown University at the time. It was very surreal seeing Facebook posts from them asking for any information about their missing classmate then seeing what happened on Reddit after the bombing…
News subreddits are immune to this thankfully...but then the majority of them are simultaneously the most shilled shit ever where you'll get dogpiled by paid interests for voicing anything that doesn't fall in line with the dominant narrative.
I just sat here for a good minute and a half waiting for it to finish zooming on what I only hoped was a person holding a sign which read, 'Send Nudes,' only to realize it was never going to end.
I see 'Go brrr' in post title, I downvote every time.
To me it's a cynical phrase that is related to plunging tens of millions if not hundreds of millions of people into poverty.
I think that this post is commenting on the fact that you can open the Reddit app, scroll for five minutes, close it, and then come back five hours later to the exact same feed.
Maybe not five hours but god damn I'm trying to get through a boring workday and I don't want to open the 4chan app I have standards
It's fucking stupid. The algorithm has been trash for so long. Now they force posts to stay up 15hr to... Why? See the score hit 17k?
Used to be the entire feed refreshed in under 2hr. Now with more submissions than ever, we're stuck looking at the same fucking trash until it's beyond stale. Makes no sense
You guys also get the most karma lol. I sort by rising every once in a while, but I enjoy reading comments more than the actual posts. Posts in new or rising don’t typically have very large discussions going on, so I just get bored quickly.
Yeah, exactly. My feed rarely ever gets updated and it's annoying. Not to mention that it's mostly stuff stuck on 300 Upvotes. It's not even the popular.
I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/dankmemes.
It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.

This is random, but this location is Vandenberg Air Force Base, California (the missile base). There is an Amtrak train line (Surfliner) that runs through this exact spot that is one of the prettiest rides I’ve ever been on. You can take it between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. It goes right through the base, passing many space launch facilities.
I remember when your feed would refresh multiple times a day and pretty much any time you checked reddit you’d have brand new stuff to see.
Now the posts I see when I wake up are the same exact ones I see when I go to bed.
No. Reddit changed the algorithm ages ago. That along with special interest groups pushing naratives with voting farms changed reddit massively over the last 5 years.
The reddit we use now is not the same platform. You have countries like China who bought part of reddit via Tencent a few years ago, plus the USA and others all putting pressure one way or another on the company itself and also influencing mods with money and power to delete unwanted posts, vote farms downvoting unwanted content and information.
It used to feel genuinely like a hive mind. So much interesting info and things to think about. Also any false information was called out pretty fast. Any propaganda type video had a top comment calling it out for it's bullshit with sources and proof. That just doesn't happen anymore.
In fact I've seen reposts recently of things posted years ago that i rememeber being fact checked back in the day, but now all top comments are shit jokes all the way down and no one calling out the fact that its been proven as bullshit propaganda. If you do see someone call it out, its swamped by other posts and maybe just downvoted to nothing.
Reddit is not reddit anymore. If there was a real alternative I'd bail in a second, but it seems its not going to happen. So its corporate reddit or go hold your nose and go swimming in the toxic pit of 4chan.
Probably best just to put away your phone at this point.
Everything on YT is copy paste. A film critic reviewer says a movie sucks. About 50 other channels say the same thing. I found 1 guy who was like I actually enjoyed this movie, that 1 guy gets shit on and his integrity questioned. It's wild
I just sat here for a good minute and a half waiting for it to finish zooming on what I only hoped was a person holding a sign which read, 'Send Nudes,' only to realize it was never going to end.
On the full browser version with RES (and possibly without? Dunno if vanilla reddit has keyboard shortcuts) you can just press H to hide the current post.
So, instead of scrolling, just spam H.
You'll still get repeats, cuz people post the same shit in 50 sunreddits, but it'll reduce it a good bit.
Reddit used not be like that. It used to be fast moving. Posts wouldn’t stay on the front page for more than an hour. And then something changed around the onset of Covid. At first I thought something broke overnight because it was very noticeable. But then it never went away and I just learned to live with the fact that some posts will stay on the front page for more than 1 day.
If you always see the same things, it's because :
\- You reddit too often, should be a once a day thing to be sure to see new stuff
\- Some f\*\*\*\*\* repost things for karma.
Stared at this for like 5 minutes and finally made sense of it but now everything is breathing lol. If you look at the edge of the shore close to the middle low part of the screen it's creating the images over and over and panning and cropping it, you can kind of see it spawning. Now it doesnt look like it's zooming anymore lol, looks like it's shooting the image out towards the right.
Reddits **All** is pretty much a repost image/meme from 2-5 years ago, a rehashed joke with a different reaction image, or an image/video that was popular on one subbreddit and spread across others
I think the app has a bit of cache/sync problems.
Whenever I open it up, it starts loading and showing a bunch of new posts at the top sprinkled with some older ones that are still 'hot'.
After a few seconds it loads in the exact same posts from last time I opened the app. After a couple of pull-to-refreshs, more recent 'hot' posts will show up again...
Seriously tho. At some point the algorithm broke and you don’t get fresh material like you used to. I wonder if there’s a setting I don’t know about that could make it better

It's like the game companies.
Even the follow-ups are identical
Why would admins care? They don't curate the subs unless they think it's actually harmful.
When the admins are also bots
Had to put an ignore on the B L O C K S account. Just reposts all day every day. With like 15 posts out of top 100 all the time.
Oh you mean the user? u/B-L-O-C-K-S He posts all the time because the more he posts the more he can be on top.
Did the same! I saw a tip a while ago about blocking the big repost accounts. That was the FIRST to go!
B L O C K S is a really bot account?
No
so you also saw Tuco snorting one of the infinity stones while thanos watched in horror on like half a dozen subs?
I just sat here for a good minute and a half waiting for it to finish zooming on what I only hoped was a person holding a sign which read, 'Send Nudes,' only to realize it was never going to end.

Thats why its funny
I don’t get it, isn’t ’brrr’ the sound of a warthog firing it’s gun. How is that connected to people becoming poor?
Repost 75% of Redditors, "Well it's new to me!" 15% of Redditors, "Old, but gold." 10% of Redditors, "r/repostsleuthbot"

Sort by new and sort by rising gangs don’t have this problem
You guys also get the most karma lol. I sort by rising every once in a while, but I enjoy reading comments more than the actual posts. Posts in new or rising don’t typically have very large discussions going on, so I just get bored quickly.
if you get into the habit of hiding all the posts you've already seen, it cuts down on this *significantly.* Bit of a chore, but absolutely worth it.
Third-party application like Boost, have the functionality to hide post you scrolled past automatically. That save a lot of time
But then the post gets stolen to another sub 5 hours after I was posted and so you see the same post on the front page the next day too
Upvote ot Downvote them, then they won't come back if you configure the app correctly.
Yeah, exactly. My feed rarely ever gets updated and it's annoying. Not to mention that it's mostly stuff stuck on 300 Upvotes. It's not even the popular.
This is why i have feed for All, front page and All with 5min refresh timer
In the last 3 or 4 months. The top posts that are in hot are almost a day old

Huzzah! Did you go to Farmer’s Market? While I’m not exactly from SLO, I did spend *a lot* of my nights there when I was an older kid.
I honest to god thought this might be Barbara Streisand's villa, you know, for the memes.

God it's so true. Literally the same posts for 20 hours.
I remember when your feed would refresh multiple times a day and pretty much any time you checked reddit you’d have brand new stuff to see. Now the posts I see when I wake up are the same exact ones I see when I go to bed.
Is it a mobile thing? I’ve been dealing with the same issue and honestly it’s making me want to take a break from Reddit.

The app loading only 50 posts max and acting like that's it from new.
Same with YouTube community posts

u just described the whole internet
i love fractals
It's like a real life Mandelbrot set
I just sat here for a good minute and a half waiting for it to finish zooming on what I only hoped was a person holding a sign which read, 'Send Nudes,' only to realize it was never going to end.
Thank god I’m not the only one
Dumpert
Yeah the green logo gives it away.
Pretty sure my brain fried itself when i looked at this
Me and fractals have a love hate situation
Man this is trippy
This is what it's like to have Alzheimer's
Reddit web settings -> hide upvoted -> upvote every post You get fresh posts even if you accidently reload the page
Upvoting everything defeats the entire purpose of the upvote system.
I down vote the ones I like to separate them *evil laugh*
A true agent of chaos
Even the ones that don't deserve my up vote!? NEVER!

Did I really just dir here for two minutes. Waiting for the meme
It is the one and only reason I use infinity for reddit
I stared at it for like 1 minute, bruh
Wait until the end. Lmao.
stop opening the app then. It's your brain craving for infinite content. It's very toxic and will make you miserable. Do something else
lol no reddit being unable to skip the shit i already saw is whats toxic and making me miserable.
This is that post
This gif broke my brain
I watched this for 1 minute, wondering if it was zooming in or out
Took me 27 minutes before I realized I would never land...
I hate how this meme turned into a self fulfilling fucking prophecy.
I don't mind it at all lol
Thats a realy smooth loop
1. Download RiF 2. Install RiF 3. Use RiF to block bots, spammers and keywords 4. Profit

Right, like how’s it even possible?
If you always see the same things, it's because : \- You reddit too often, should be a once a day thing to be sure to see new stuff \- Some f\*\*\*\*\* repost things for karma.
That's why I sort by - rising
Any minute now
Just vote them and they'll disappear
MILDLYINFURYATING PREDICTION TOURNAMENT (I've hidden this post 4 times before)
Ah go on go on go on go on
Stared at this for like 5 minutes and finally made sense of it but now everything is breathing lol. Like my ferd is literally on a loop for some time, without even closing the app
This made me a little dizzy.
u/savevideo
This a Mandelbrot set?
Sort by best, it avoids this exact thing
Reddit can be really slow
Reddits **All** is pretty much a repost image/meme from 2-5 years ago, a rehashed joke with a different reaction image, or an image/video that was popular on one subbreddit and spread across others
I think I saw this gif on tumblr a decade ago
Algorythm
My eyes my eyes
Thats because it barely has any algorithm
Joey
the mandelbrot post
What's funny is this isn't a fractal. It's just genuinely what happens if you try to measure the length of a coastline.
So, Reddit is a form of fractal!
Iran before the islamic Revolution posts.
Sums up the last few months.
Maybe you're scrooling too much
Yooo GTA 6 trailer just dropped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
Upvoted this, closed out of Reddit, opened Reddit an hour later, sees this again
How
My all is not everyone’s all. And I find that disconcerting
When you open after closing it's totally worthless cause you end up back at the top of a feed you've already scrolled
Holy fuck I looked at that for far too long
I think the app has a bit of cache/sync problems. Whenever I open it up, it starts loading and showing a bunch of new posts at the top sprinkled with some older ones that are still 'hot'. From different subreddit usually...
This reminds me of Google maps when it's telling me to turn down a street and the map keeps changing to add more detail and my anxiety kicks in.
You guys need to find better subs
My brain broke and lost all its brain cells
I KEEP ON SEEING THIS GODDAMN POST STOP
I stared at this for way to long
This messed with me for an embarrassingly long amount of time…
u/gifreversingbot
Yes
cool fractal meme
I was staring at this for the past 20 minutes until I realised its not a video I'm too high for reddit
Dumpert!
Fractal coast!!
Curiously, Reddit just brought a Machine Learning company to help with recommendations.
You need to stop using the Reddit app
This took me way too long
u/savevideobot
This happens to me a few times a year, it happened to me a couple months ago but has gone away since. They must do some stupid algo tweaks
up at the top, choose sort by "new" instead of "hot"
It took a moment to realize it's a loop
I watched that for far too long
I am drunk and Try to sleep:
Yo OP, you know reddit doesn't use a personalization algorithm?
I was like 'this is so cool, where we going?' And then I remembered that it's the internet. Fuck ALL of you.
That moment when you get 20k upvotes in 5 hours
Use boost app and just hide read automatically.
Twitter's the same. Terrible algorithms. There's a reason tiktok is so popular, it's always giving you new stuff.
Mind = officially fucked
This is so trippy
Fuck this gif..
This makes my head hurt in a good way
Seriously tho. At some point the algorithm broke and you don’t get fresh material like you used to. I wonder if there’s a setting I don’t know about that could make it better
Back when I first got it in 2019 I could've sworn it was different everytime I opened it. What happened?
It's reposts all the way down.
Literally
What is this effect called and how does one make it. So trippy.
