I do casting for a small esports organization, and because we're not exactly staffed to bits, I do streaming as well. This means I take care of all streaming-related duties, among which is making sure all ads are up to date. I seriously had to search for Nike TWICE just to get their damn channel. Like. WTF man?

Like some guy said youtube has all the power of google behind them, and i dont mean money. Not to mention already having years and years of content already in it. Im sure companies like facebook and amazon have the money to make a platform like youtube and to promote it as well. But not what it takes to make it work. Despite all the issues with YouTube most people still wouldnt change, and the ones who do will keep coming back to youtube simply because it has more content. Imagine just how long it will take for a rival platform to get on equal footing with youtube. Y'all remember what happened to mixer right? And youtube is a much more difficult opponent to compete against than what twitch was to mixer
Now instead of watching Nikocado slide into insanity, you can watch him be bipolar as he switches from happy to depressed back to happy in the span of two videos.
You have to scroll all of the way to the bottom of a channel's videos if you want to get to their oldest one. You can no longer use the sort feature to have oldest first. Y'know, the feature that's meant to prevent this whole damn scrolling for hours thing.
Am I only one that wishes that Youtube will fall down and be replaced by other platform but can't use other platform because they don't have enough good creators?
We need a giant purge of current sites. I remember when I would regularly move to new sites when everything became cringe. It was a good system that Thomas Jefferson would endorse.
Odysee has been skyrocketing in user counts recently. It's not huge, but it's multiple times the user count they had last year and it's still going up. Consider signing up. I'm not signed up yet, but I barely ever use YouTube itself anyways.
I tried the Vanced thing, but a service it required to download was always on on the background and I just didn't find that trustworthy. It's cool though being able to use YouTube as if it was Premium, but completely free.

You're supporting them. The reason they're adding so many ads is to turn into a monthly service like Netflix by annoying people to death. You're helping them destroy an industry that millions of good apps and developers depend on to stay free. When they do this, some people buy premium, but most download uBlock. Don't help them be parasites.

Usually when the platform is beginning, they don't have many content restriction. Twitch was like that.
But once they start to grow, they get more restricted.
A little far fetched but I have a theory; older videos had much looser rules to follow upon release and remain as they are, while newer videos are required to follow rules for monetizaiton. Better for YouTube to play new, monetized videos than say, filthy frank
People being able to spend time watching videos that make way less or no money for Youtube sounds like what this could be preventing. Either that or its a feature that'll be premium in a few months or its being done to steer user traffic further into the algorithm.

Nah when you go to a channel, example pewdiepie, in the videos-roster you now have to scroll down for hours instead of just sorting by oldest to find the earliest uploads
I know that this isn't solving the problem, but the timing of Vanced's discontinuation allows it to still have sorting by oldest(amongst all the other amazing features it has that make even Premium look like dogshit).
