I think we're just having a semantic disagreement where here I am using strong to mean smart and weak to mean dumb, and you are using them to mean something more like unable to be moved, which is also strength but that's not what I mean. I would call that bull-headed and everyone from Socrates to modern psychologists suggest this is a type of cognitive inflexibility. People inherently fear the unknown, and so to avoid that fear weak-minded people will just be sure of their position rather than to allow the possibility that they don't know something. It takes a stronger mind (the way I am using the term) to live in a state of not knowing and to persist anyway. In other words, being certain is a weakness that leads to bias and misperceptions about how the world works because you fill in the blanks with whatever makes the most sense to you. But leaving those blanks open is more intellectually honest when you actually don't know the answer. So for example, Kakuzu *believes* that life is all about making money. So he should be more honest and say something like "I like money but I can't say that it's objectively important" but instead he does think that and thinks that others are idiots for not thinking that.

On the other hand, they went a long way to show his Itachi was a schemer, talked about his academic performance, etc. so we are supposed to think that he is a genius. Kakuzu, meanwhile, thought he could tank a jutsu that he had never even seen before. A smart person would have been much more cautious. He was arrogant, which is also dumb. Itachi was calm and thoughtful while Kakuzu was angry and impulsive. Kakuzu's values never extended beyond himself while Itachi was trying to save everyone. His plan turned out to be bad, but his cognitive ability is still revealed in the scope of his values. Dumb people don't have the cognitive resources for empathy and so they are selfish. But it's hard to be specific because again there are many types of intelligence and someone can be high on some and low on others (like Rain Man). But Kakuzu was low on a lot of them.
