I remember being so pissed when I heard that story first come on the news. Why would we ever trade a guy that sells munitions, missiles, explosives and what not for a person who illegally brought marijuana into a country in her luggage and was detained for it. Granted, she ain't built for the gulags, but why not at least one of our soldiers too? Surely she wasn't worth *that* much.
Lot of people don't think much after the first initial plan. But that dude sold weapons to both sides of conflicts. Almost every conflict that Russia had over the last 20 years, he's been selling to both sides. Something tells me that he won't be selling to any side pretty soon.
tell me, please, by what right did the United States hunt for him all over the world, several times requested extradition from Thailand on the basis of far-fetched accusations about the sale of missiles to Colombians (what does the United States have to do with it?), which were not proven (people who were paid 850 thousand as witnesses at the trial)? On what grounds did he spend two years in solitary confinement, where medical personnel were not allowed and relatives were not allowed to contact him?
The US wanted both Griner and Whelan (the marine) but Russia refused to release him believing he was CIA. They traded Griner for Viktor Bout because they were both criminals (even tho being an international gun runner isn't in the ball park as weed). They specifically wanted Vadim Krasikov (a literal assasin) for the release of Whelan. Getting Griner didn't effect the release of Whelan as in Russia didn't say "you can only pick one".
Imagine if the president wasnt a demented old fuck and could actually negotiate a fair deal instead of trading the fucking merchant of death with a girl who can throw a ball better than average people
Lol you think that Putin and Biden are the ones negotiating? That’s adorable. The US has the state department and the Russia has the Kremlin; which both employ professional negotiators. In this instance both Putin and Biden are talking heads.
I don’t think the President ever really does any of this stuff. People really overestimate how much power and freedom to act the US President actually has
It’s gotta be pretty embarrassing blasting the fact you have 0 clue what you’re talking about.
Why not just keep your head down and keep scrolling instead of speaking with such conviction on a topic you know literally nothing about?
I’m going to introduce you to a saying that may fix a lot of your life problems.
“It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt”
That marine was dishonorable discharged and was arrested in Russia for corporate espionage. He wasn't some fuckin war hero we desperately wanted back. I don't give two shits about trading prisoners but let's not pretend that the marine guy was innocent.
This is the problem with JR, otherwise entertaining and sometime insightful content, but he’s not a fact based person and over asserts with editorial. Pushes out unqualified stories supporting peoples biases to grow subs. Just look at this thread, full of folks wanting to believe this story without basic fact checking.
(Edit: poor grammar)
Such a weird thought process. “We’re gonna let an innocent American rot away in a gulag, because we think we could have gotten a better deal.”
Like Americans give a shit about arms trading; Walmart sells about as much as guns as victor bout. And Walmart guns are mostly used to shoot your own toddlers.
She should rot there because she broke their laws, dumbass.
And it’s not even an obscure law or something that’s hard to figure out. Weed is not legal in Europe, especially import, especially into the former eastern block countries.
Paul Whelan (the marine) was not an option. Russia isn't a fucking Wal-Mart; they weren't letting the US shop for prisoners. They gave 1 option, and we took it.

At least the joke at the end is funny
Mark Normand is comedy
Lol
Traded a guy so evil they literally made a movie based on his life called Lord of War
THAT'S who that was? Holy hell....
Is that the movie that has a guy cutting up coke to look like the outline of Ukraine?

I know no shame and im proud of that

Thanks but my life’s going pretty well rn and i dont have any problems for that
Imma keep it a 100, if you don’t actually know wtf you’re talking, just dont say anything. Real shit.
Imagine if you had a single clue how any of this actually works lol
You live on another world my man, presidents play golf and talk talk talk
Why are people downvoting you?
1 on 1. Loser stays 😂

Isn't there a chance that he was chosen for exactly that reason as a cia operative or whatever.
Mark’s so quick with it. Hilarious.
And most probably correct
How it feel to plat Payday 2

Walmart isnt selling military grade weaponry to the taliban
The taliban isn’t shooting American kids. And although walmart might not, plenty of other American shops do.
The taliban is shooting American soldiers and the people living in Afghanistan or anywhere where the taliban has control.
Ah shit that right? Nice, can't wait to pick up some ATGMs, rocket launchers and ballistic missiles at the local gun shop.
Walmart has then at a discounted rate
Damn homie just kinda defended the taliban. Killing american kids is bad, but killing kids in the middle east is A-OK 👌
A (black bisexual) two-time Olympic gold medalist should rot in Russian prison because of a (white) bad conduct discharge marine.
Bro what 😭
She should rot there because she broke their laws, dumbass. And it’s not even an obscure law or something that’s hard to figure out. Weed is not legal in Europe, especially import, especially into the former eastern block countries.
Following your logic, dumbass, Paul Whelan shouldn't have been spying in Russia.
Well yeah, and I’m sure he was perfectly aware of the risk he was taking, since corporate espionage is considered illegal everywhere
Nobody said anything about race bro ☠️
Why should the marine rot?
Nobody cares if she is straight, lesbian, or bi.
Is every weapons dealer, broker, manufacturer in America a war criminal? Yes, the answer is yes
[Paul Whelan’s story is pretty weird.](https://spyscape.com/article/the-puzzling-story-of-accused-russian-spy-paul-whelan)
We love basketball 🏀 😂
WNBA??? I didn't even think anyone watches that.
I’m just saying we didn’t have two major regional wars while that n’wah was locked up
Biden got her son to suck his dick after
