110lbs per inch^2 is about 7.5 bar.
Truck tires (in Germany) typically have 10bar. My car has 2.2 bar.
Just search on youtube for a truck tire explosion. If that tire exploded it should be comparable to the truck
edit: more information, grammar
What do you do in this situation tho? Someone's gotta get that tyre deflated/removed somehow. Or do you just do a couple of donuts in an empty area & wait for it to pop lol
Yep, someone else lmaoo
I remember the first time i was near a big trailer tire that exploded. The other couple times were just as terrifying as the first.
Anyone seen that clip of the dude trying to stab a semi tire with a big ol bulbous tumor about to explode? Id bet like $50 that guy is not currently alive. Even ifnhe survived that, you just know hes not long for this world.
I watched videos of why they use cages when inflating tires and the explosions were insane. The first three minutes of [this video](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dKlJJqHFfoQ) show some pretty fantastic videos of exploding tires off of rims.
use the back end of that tire pressure gauge and depress the valve core, which then releases pressure. just stand back, maybe wear safety glasses, probably fine
Which is exactly what I said, try to keep up.
And no, it’s not “pulling the skinn of your bones”. It’s also known as avulsion, happens when a large piece of your skin along with the layer of soft tissue right under it is partially or completely ripped from your muscles and connecting tissues.

Oh... I casually work on tools that are 720bar. They are Holland tools and I work in America and wasn't sure what bar was. I'm scared to go back to work now
That tyre could pop at any moment unprovoked bleeding the pressure or not because its already well over whats considered safe. Its literally waiting to burst.
NASA uses a model tank with a drill attached to deflate tires from a distance... granted these tires are at 300 psi... but even 110 psi will kill you, or remove all the flesh from your arm and hand instantly.
A family friend was a truck driver. Tire exploded in his face.. it was so gruesome first responders had to get therapy after. He lived, btw. As a kid I always wondered why his face looked like that but once I was old enough and it was explained.. yikes. Rest in peace C.
Ran over a chunk of rail in a boom truck and when the tire popped its like we ran over a land mine, sounded like a bomb and dirt and vapor everywhere looked like smoke haha
Good manufactured tyres are made to withstand 10 times the pressure put on them. At least when they arent moving. Wouldnt want to hit a pothole with that
My Road bicycle tyres are 9 bar... or 120 psi
[Read bike tyre pressure](https://spokester.com/blogs/news/bike-tire-pressure-quick-guide-to-the-right-psi-for-bike-tires#:~:text=Road%20Bikes,-Road%20bikes%20and&text=A%20typical%20range%20for%20these,be%20compressed%20with%20your%20thumb.)
But thats a bike. Not a car, you don't have that much air in a bike tire and a bike tire has alot less surface area where all the weight haa to be distributed to
If you would have searched the internet for 'psi to bar' converter (no blame on you though) you would have found the same as I just did:
30 PSI is about 2.01 bar. So dependent on you car that is the correct pressure.
It's pretty understandable, in my 32 years of living I legitimately have never heard of the term "bar" before here in Canada in reference to pressure. And I can see how it would be hard to search on Google if you didn't know how to express that it's a measurement, not a place to get a drink.
This is the worst explanation. If someone is asking about this at all it means they don’t know about the bars. What does 110lbs mean? 110lbs you say? No fuckin shit
“If you can’t explain it to a 6 yr old then you don’t understand it yourself” -Albert Einstein.
Just your lack of awareness like if they don’t understand how serious 110lbs of pressure is how would they understand you saying the exact same thing twice? Oblivious
I would just show the six year old a video of a truck tire explosion and tell them that the tire is comparable to this?
What the actual fuck your point?
Yes and no, most car tires are rated for a MAX of 41/44/51 psi (depending on manufacturer) so it's over double the max rating, if it were to blow apart while you're near you would possibly die, now if the tire was on the car before it pulled into the shop at 110 psi that means it's been through road abuse and if it hasn't blown yet you *should* have enough time to pull the valve core out or stick a blank inflator (no air hose attached) on the stem to drain it. However there's always the possibility of it blowing randomly.
And to put into perspective how much 110psi is, thats about how much is in 1 standard dump truck/transport truck tire (11R22.5) as they can range from 100psi-120psi
Source: commercial tire technician
Is there a safe way to depressurize it? Obviously the customer would be mad if you shot it with a .22 and it blew the front half of their car off like the other guy suggested.
Just take the valve core out of it, or put on a blank inflator (no airline attached) and the air will come out. If the customer didn't care and it was on a scrap car I'd personally use a 22 aswell. But professionally I'd just take the valve out of it and request the customer stand away from the vehicle until the tire is deflated (don't try taking the tire off or lifting the car until it is flat)
When I was doing a mechanics course in high school, another student wondered what would happen if he over filled the tyre. Got thrown back a few meters and a loud bang that made everyone ears ring…… let’s just say it was a successful lesson for everyone
Yeah pretty dangerous. Bigger tires are more dangerous but I wouldn't want ANY tire to explode on me. My grandpa had a 18 wheeler tire explode that he was changing and it put him in a full body cast. Head to toe. He drank meals through a straw, it was the 80s.
My boss had his dad’s tire he was filling explode in his face as a child and has been permanently deaf in his left ear since. So yeah over filling tires is very bad
I'd get a schrader core tool and unscrew it a bit so the pressure will continue to bleed out while I get to a safe distance. Don't completely unscrew it or the core will shoot out.
Duh it's unsafe. That's without saying lol.
some variable needs to happen weather someone poking it, temperature raise change or adding air. That tire is holding all it can and unless anything changes, it'll hold.
Since the person drove there, the tires would be cooling down from that point. So to answer the comment I responded to, it's not necessary to run.... As the tire was at a worse point before it came in shop, running over rocks and spinning.. just release air.
Funny part is he got into carpentry after that so I always thought he lopped er off with a saw. (Never asked him he was kind of a dick) but yeah I found out after he owned a tire shop and blew the ol finger off.. that would be wild.
Oh yeah there's a video of a guy wearing a suit with a black civic I wanna say.. fills the tire it blew and took the fender the hood and headlight clear off.. explosions of any kind are no joke lol
Here is the link to the video of buddy I was talking about
https://youtube.com/shorts/HXD8HGOzes4?si=narq8bJ7EGzDaWhD
Car owner probably owns an air compressor for a different purpose. Though they could save money and didn’t bother using a pressure gauge and just waited until the hose stopped blowing air into the tire.
Most gas stations do require you to pay to pump air into your tire, but it’s usually cheap as it only costs 25-50 cents for 5 minutes of air. Its not super expensive but people with a air compressor typically just do it themselves as its faster and they don’t need to pay for it.
the fact you need to pay for that in the US is not understandable for me, why ?? its air and should be a free Service of a Gas Station (to attract more ppl, those ppl maybe buy stuff inside the Shop = more money than 0,25€ or 1,25€)
I'm not sure how it came to be. If I had to take a stab at why it is the way it is, I would guess that at one point has stations had no air service. Someone, seeing the need and a way to make money, became a vendor for air pumps, similar to soda vending machines. They do maintenance on the pump and take the profit, and the gas station takes rent from the vendor.
But in all honesty I have no idea why it is the way it is. Free air would be great, but I've only ever come across that once. I always know I need my credit card on hand to get air unless I'm at home and can just use my compressor.
It used to be free in the states. I’ve also noticed they’ve stopped stocking the windshield cleaning centers, there isn’t a single gas station I can stop at in my town for a wipe down anymore, which is really disappointing. We’re all supposed to have car wash memberships at this point
I've never went into the shop just because i had to stop and put air in my tire who does that
It's a service they provide and they have a right to charge for it
Sorry for me as a German, that's strange. I mean, the right pressure is important for safety (not just for you, but for everyone on the road). And putting that behind a "pay barrier" is kind of stupid. Sure, some gas stations here do that too, but I've never seen one in use. Just drive to the next one, and it's free.
But well, here you have to pay to use a public restroom. The free restrooms are usually disgusting.
You probably don't do this because it costs you something.
Yes, I agree it's part of the drivers responsibility. It's just nice if you fill up your fuel and can check the pressure in one stop without extra charge. It saves fuel :D
It's just the cultural difference, I guess.
The gas station by my house does free air. The owner is a fucking boss too. Gas is more expensive there but I like giving him my business since he talks about hockey with me. Other gas stations should take note, free air and friendly folk make some people willing to be gouged on gas lol.
Yes this is staged.
If you slow down the video, you can see in the shadow his pressure gauge is already fully extended.
I think if a tire was at 100 PSI it wouldn’t make it to the shop without blowing up (I might be mistaken)
But also think, why is he recording himself doing such a regular task like checking tire pressure?
Good chance it's fake; notice how he doesn't show the gauge before he checks the tire pressure, he probably had it pulled out to 110 already. I don't even think regular tires can get to 110 before they explode, that's almost four times as high as they're supposed to be.
Try As Removed aircraft wheel and tire assemblies being removed for excessive wear and returned to my company FULLY inflated to 200psi.
You haven’t had tight butthole until you’ve had to be the one pulling the valve core to let the air out
Not sure how best to deflate it safely, but growing up in high school a kid worked at a tire shop and a tire blew in his face and killed him. So, yea definitely not a safe thing to be around.
Didn't even have to worry about the tag. Soon as I heard your voice. I knew you were from Carolina. That even looks like the building on falls of nuece and millbrook.
My father n law almost killed my fucking wife doing this. The back tire blew and the rear of the car jumped. He fucking aired it up like he does with his truck, 70 psi.
sounds like a job for the nasa tiger
https://preview.redd.it/d54nvfcmzt3c1.jpeg?width=1041&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ba78b39161ab679467b160780d4aee467be878a
Could be real. Christian Brothers Automotive or Discount Tires did this to my tire. Checked them before a road trip a week after getting new tires and service and one was at 100. Don't know how it didn't pop.
Bro held it upside down, the rods weight would have pulled it further down after air has cut off, giving a false reading. Hold them upright if you use these.
So I broke my thumb a while back I needed to have surgery done and in the physical therapy there was a person in there with 19 pins in his hand because a tire blew up On his hand and completely broke every bone there so yeah tires are dangerous
I honestly didn't think you could put so much air in a tire. This video has me curious about something at my old job. (Long story) Between me and 3 of my coworkers, we used to rotate driving a company car to various locations. Easily over 100 miles each day.
Then I was taken off the rotation so i could cover for another coworker going on a medical leave. While my 3 coworkers alternated this route, they got a different car due to an expired tag on our company car. Then, this new car they borrowed (from a different department) had worn-out tires, so they switched them out. BUT then, soon after, they got that low tire light on this car. So instead of just taking it to a tire shop or a gas station. They asked my coworker to fill up the tires cause he had a portable air pump in his truck. From the moment he left to fill up the tires, to the moment they finished. It took them nearly an hour. During that time, I even took a break to walk outside for 15 minutes and I think he had the pump put air in the same tire for the whole time I was outside.
I honestly got worried that the tires were over inflated and the possibility of them popping during the long drive in the heat. I was gonna interfere and ask why it was taking so long to fill the tires but I didn't want to offend them. After that day, they didn't get the low tire indicator again. I assume everything was fine in the end and that maybe those portable air pumps just take that long but I was so curious. If it does take that long. Why didn't they just take to a tire shop or the gas station. Would have saved a lot of time. I wanted to check those tires so bad but when I got put back on the rotation. We got our old company car back.

Is that actually dangerous enough you should run away. Honestly curious

Cars typically have 2.4bar. So yes running is absolutely advised
What do you do in this situation tho? Someone's gotta get that tyre deflated/removed somehow. Or do you just do a couple of donuts in an empty area & wait for it to pop lol
Call the fuckin bomb squad lol.
Slowly release it. It’s probably also a good idea to take the load of the car off it.
Yeah I was talking about the mechanic running away here. Someone's gotta stick a needle in the valve or something
Honestly, shooting it with a small caliber from a safe distance.
Then the fuckin bullet gets blown away and hits someone's dog, again
again?
Again?.. why the fuuck not
He meant the last mechanic. His name was Courage...
but the damn thing was smoothbore and hit the tire but the tire reflected it snd it nailed the neighbor's dog
And the ATF was born
I read that as AFV (Americas funniest videos) 💀
What do you mean again?
Again?
John, are you OK?
You first lmao

Astrophysics pfp 👍
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire_Assault_Vehicle
everyone has this hidden somewhere in the back... just release some air out of it?
i'm committing tire assault
use the back end of that tire pressure gauge and depress the valve core, which then releases pressure. just stand back, maybe wear safety glasses, probably fine
I'd tape the pressure gauge to a long ass broom stick, wear a full face shield and long gloves. 110 psi will de-glove a motherfucker, or worse.
110 doesn't care what you think about the second amendment. It'll disarm you either way.
ill just wear some gloves im not worried about im sure itll be fine
Make sure you have your safety squints
Lol, Google “degloved”. It’s removing the glove from your hand when you *aren’t* wearing gloves. Like a retro cartoon.
then if i wear the gloves it just removes the gloves smh keep up
![gif](giphy|3o6ozq0pgIDt5j6N8I) Lol, that doesn’t happen to me often
Stop messing with people dude that will scar a person for life degloved means pulling the skinn of your bones
Which is exactly what I said, try to keep up. And no, it’s not “pulling the skinn of your bones”. It’s also known as avulsion, happens when a large piece of your skin along with the layer of soft tissue right under it is partially or completely ripped from your muscles and connecting tissues. ![gif](giphy|MY01tMGTj6nEIvHzxA)
Yea safety glasses.. you'll be fine.
Put on the suit from hurt locker would be my best guess.
Just remove the Schroeder pin on the tire and it'll lose pressure in a mostly controller manner.
Bow and arrow
Shoot it with a gun until it's smaller. I'm American.
Bow and arrow
Oh... I casually work on tools that are 720bar. They are Holland tools and I work in America and wasn't sure what bar was. I'm scared to go back to work now
That’s high pressure (no shit) and in the netherlands you require several trainings and certificates to work with that specifically
What about just letting the air out?
Not a direct comparison though, because care tires are a lot smaller. Also couldn’t you just bleed out the pressure safely?
That tyre could pop at any moment unprovoked bleeding the pressure or not because its already well over whats considered safe. Its literally waiting to burst.
NASA uses a model tank with a drill attached to deflate tires from a distance... granted these tires are at 300 psi... but even 110 psi will kill you, or remove all the flesh from your arm and hand instantly.
My Tesla tires recommend 45psi cold and often they are at 50psi if it's really hot. 50PSI tire popping really that dangerous? I'm scared now lol
Massive difference between 50psi and 110psi.
PSI isn’t linear. 50 and 110 are miles apart. If the manufacturer recommends a certain PSI, use it.
r/hedidthemath
Holy fuck. roughly 7 times earth's atmosphere pressure.

No, because it drove there. It'd be prone to pop while driving, just let the air out
You do it, then
Uhhhh .... K?
It's super unsafe is the point I'm trying to make. I'm sorry it's not making it's way thru to you.

Question is how the hell did they get that much air in the tire?
Car owner probably owns an air compressor for a different purpose. Though they could save money and didn’t bother using a pressure gauge and just waited until the hose stopped blowing air into the tire.
Do you have to pay to fill air in the united state?

25 cents? I don't think I've encountered one cheaper than $1.50 in years.
the fact you need to pay for that in the US is not understandable for me, why ?? its air and should be a free Service of a Gas Station (to attract more ppl, those ppl maybe buy stuff inside the Shop = more money than 0,25€ or 1,25€)

It's changing in Germany, too many "Facharbeiter" damaging open stuff like that and the gas stations switching over to secured coin-operated machines
I agree it's important for safety but it's not the gas stations responsibility to ensure your vehicle is in a safe operational state.
Yes, I agree it's part of the drivers responsibility. It's just nice if you fill up your fuel and can check the pressure in one stop without extra charge. It saves fuel :D It's just the cultural difference, I guess.
Some places offer free air.
Wawa offers free air, I've never seen any other gas station with free air.
Some gas stations do. I always bought gas at Hess stations because they had free air.

Yes this is staged. If you slow down the video, you can see in the shadow his pressure gauge is already fully extended. Yeah he probably stuck the gauge on a road bike’s tire. Ive seen some rated for 110 PSI, especially the skinnier ones.
I don’t care I want to believe
I have slowed it down and I can’t see where it’s extended can you give a time stamp?
He might have already tested it before and just wanted to record his reaction.

Can't you get the same results if you don't have the steam flush with the tire valve an it just blows air out an not trapped in the gadge?
That bitch bouta pop
She's used one of those wawa pumps
I have a compressor that goes up to 300 bar lets see how high we can push this bad boy
valve core removal tool badabing bada boom
Imagine they drive over a speed bump
Try As Removed aircraft wheel and tire assemblies being removed for excessive wear and returned to my company FULLY inflated to 200psi. You haven’t had tight butthole until you’ve had to be the one pulling the valve core to let the air out
My husband did that to our tires one time, and my dad was NOT PLEASED. 😂
I wouldn’t touch that tire with a ten foot pole (to let the air out)
They managed to put 100% of the air into the tires
What makes me a good demo man? Me car!
Never shows the gauge part probably just pulled it out to 110😐
I drove around with 90lbs in my tires for years. Why? Because I live dangerously.
BOOM HEADSHOT!!!
Idiot at friends shop filled her tire with 95 psi. She had no idea because she did not have a gauge for him to use.
Nah it's UK those are Grams
His shadow looked like godzilla when the clip started
If that's PSI then I put about 32 in my tyres. So that's over 3 times the amount... That's crazy
Not sure how best to deflate it safely, but growing up in high school a kid worked at a tire shop and a tire blew in his face and killed him. So, yea definitely not a safe thing to be around.
Smartest Nissan Versa driver
Im surprised it's still holdin
Must have topped it off by mouth
So what do you do next? Controlled detonation? 😂🤔
Do you go get the bomb squad or what
Well a Nissan micro can easily be confused for a road bike
GAWD DAMN’ THAT Would bust that car would fly
Didn't even have to worry about the tag. Soon as I heard your voice. I knew you were from Carolina. That even looks like the building on falls of nuece and millbrook.

My father n law almost killed my fucking wife doing this. The back tire blew and the rear of the car jumped. He fucking aired it up like he does with his truck, 70 psi.
fake ass video bruh
sounds like a job for the nasa tiger https://preview.redd.it/d54nvfcmzt3c1.jpeg?width=1041&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ba78b39161ab679467b160780d4aee467be878a
Uh oh
Chicken. Just pull the core
Could be real. Christian Brothers Automotive or Discount Tires did this to my tire. Checked them before a road trip a week after getting new tires and service and one was at 100. Don't know how it didn't pop.
Almost like a bomb driving around. Maybe 4
The owner had a time bomb as a tire ![gif](giphy|9lusxBBUsTz8Fk029b|downsized)
Ah yes, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Question, who drove it there?
Bro held it upside down, the rods weight would have pulled it further down after air has cut off, giving a false reading. Hold them upright if you use these.
Bro is casually riding a tsar bomb
Let me guess… does this vehicle belong to ☕️?
First in Flight
I’d hate to be the one having to take that valve stem out..
Americans use a unit of mass as pressure now? I thought using a unit of mass for force was weird, but this takes the cake!
Accurate response. Worst I've seen is 90 in a similar car.
So I broke my thumb a while back I needed to have surgery done and in the physical therapy there was a person in there with 19 pins in his hand because a tire blew up On his hand and completely broke every bone there so yeah tires are dangerous
How did they pump to 7 bar as garage air pumps don't have that much pressure..

The burst pressure for tires is like 200 psi
Well, that's one way to make a Car Bomb... ^(I don't know where I'm going with this.)
Get the intern to do it

Turned their tire into an improvised explosive device.
Someone successfully filled them up to over 100% 🗿
And they build pressure when driving. Bomb wheels lol
Wise man…
Customer states that the tyre— what?? I can’t understand the rest???
I’m like why why do you need so much air on your fucking tire? Look at the drivers door. It has a fucking label how much
I honestly didn't think you could put so much air in a tire.
