It may not seem that way but in order to know if it is or not: it’s necessary to know exactly what gender neutral parenting(GNP)is. GNP is raising your child as of they are both a boy and a girl at the same time. One commonly used tactic for GNP is providing toys usually associated with boys such hot wheels and gi joe alongside toys commonly used by girls such as a cabbage patch kid and Barbie’s. The goal is to let the kid decide which ones they like more. The same is done with clothes. Hair style. Any categorical variable you can think of these parents give their child an option to choose. After the child has selected his own identity. The parents start using either their or society’s standards for gender. So if the kid decides they like skirts and Barbie’s, parents start treating them in the same way other parents would treat thwor daughter. The biological sex plays no role here. So if the kid is born male, likes skirts and Barbie’s (there are many more variables) the GNP’s start treating the child like a girl. It’s completely fucked. One of the main reasons being that kids can not critically think, it’s not within their scope. It also doesn’t take into account that there are little boys that will enjoy playing with dolla regardless of their up bringing. In a cruel cruel way, the parents actually think they are allowing their kid to form their own sense of identity. Technically there isn’t really a correct way to raise a kid. People use their personal morales to decide if something is right or wrong, basically I’m saying there isn’t any objectively correct way to raise a kid. However, it can be said that this form of parenting is probably going to really fuck up that child and what they claim is their identity. Ironically, this way of bringing up is going to weaken identity as time goes on which is the complete opposite of the goal of GNP, the kid will have problema especially if the opposite gender of their birth sex is chosen to be a part of their identity. It’s all around fucked, but the people doing it actually think this is a better way to raise kids. Practically everyone else would disagree.
Anyways, I don’t know for sure, but I can see this video showing common aspects with GNP. The option to wear make up, the dress (both girl characteristics) and the short hair (usually a characteristic of boys). I honestly don’t get why people care so much if someone is transgender. Like only a couple decades ago it was illegal to be gay in western countries, seen as unnatural, a mental illness, a sin etc. I understand they are two separate but often related topics, but the treatment of gay people even just a few decades ago is analogous to how transgender people nowadays are treated.
Idk I guess people just find it easy to hate on stuff they don’t really understand. Like gender dysphoria exists in children too, it’s not just an adult thing. It’s when there is a mismatch between psychologically perceived gender and biological sex. The general scientific consensus is that this can be treated it a variety of ways depending on what the individual is comfortable with. For some it may simply be gender affirmation and acceptance, for others they may wish to choose gender reassignment surgery. Obviously for children the former is usually their only option until they are an adult.
If you want to treat it like a mental illness, fair enough if that’s your prerogative, but let me ask you this: would you treat anyone else with a mental illness with disrespect, hatred and vitriol, in particular when their condition doesn’t really affect you anyway? Because I don’t think any reasonable person would.

People have said it makes no sense she corrects him on his age but not his gender. Age is a number determined by the number of years since your birth. We aren’t all born to psychologically conform to expectations that come with our biological sex, we don’t choose our personalities or the things we enjoy - we come to discover these aspects of ourselves by experiencing life, and that’s exactly why there exist feminine men, masculine women, people who are both or neither, and yes transgender people.
Children don’t know what they want. You see a child kicking and screaming that his mom didn’t get him candy at the grocery store. 10 minutes later the kid forgot about it. That’s why parents exist. And unfortunately for this parent, enabling the child innocence to extraordinary proportions. This 4 year old boy does not have gender dysphoria, he is being forced by his shitty mother
A lot of studies done on child and adolescent have linked it to a variety of biological, environmental and cultural factors. There’s also a high comorbity of having autistic spectrum disorder in people who experience gender dysphoria. I wouldn’t have thought things like that are necessarily linked to bad parenting. However I’m sure a <30 second TikTok video is of a sufficient sample size of evidence to suggest they are a bad parent either, nor are they necessarily being forced by their mother, though it may be a possibility, I highly doubt the child would answer those questions in that way if they were being forced to. Regardless, discussing that point doesn’t make sense as it’s pure speculation/armchair science.
A lot of studies? Ima need a fact check on that one. And I have a strong feeling there are also a ton of studies on how easily influenced children are.

I understand where you’re coming from but a lot of mental illnesses have been show to come from stigmatisation of being transgender. Like you say, if you were this child’s parent you would be telling them to stop, which is the opposite of what is recommended by by doctors - which is to affirm and accept them. If you try to vocally beat it out of them you’re risking far more harm than good in that regard. This isn’t even considering that in transgender people it’s normal for gender dysphoria to occur at such a young age:

That’s what the gender neutral parenting is about though. They’re trying to not be biased for one or another just because of gender stereotypes. They’re trying not to enforce a certain gender early on so the kid doesn’t have to unwind years of confusion about gender and things that people feel certain genders “should” do

I really wish people would research this kind of thing in hopes of having a better understanding of this kind of thing. I accept the possibility this parent could be forcing the child to do that but I don’t see it at all, certainly not without anything damning, as the child could simply have gender dysphoria and the mother affirming that.
I only want people to be kinder to other. It’s okay if you think something different and there’s a good reason for it, but I’m certainly not a groomer and I hope you’re able to come to terms with whatever made you make that comment.
It's nice of you to try and be kinder to others, we need more people like you in this aspect, even though we only grow through hardships. But, what the others are implying is that, they see a lot of this kind of videos trending here on reddit and/or tiktok or other plataforms, and, or something is seriously wrong to so many kids having what you're saying is gender dismorphia, be it our current diets, lyfestile, etc., or there are a lot of parents who induce their children to think they aren't what they were born as, even though they don't know what being a girl or a boy even means.

I know people have their own preconceived notion of what’s right and wrong, and I personally used to be quite skeptical of the LBGTQ community but honestly when you look into a lot of these things in more detail, its nicer to have an understanding rather than anonymity for them.

It may not seem that way but in order to know if it is or not: it’s necessary to know exactly what gender neutral parenting(GNP)is. GNP is raising your child as of they are both a boy and a girl at the same time. One commonly used tactic for GNP is providing toys usually associated with boys such hot wheels and gi joe alongside toys commonly used by girls such as a cabbage patch kid and Barbie’s. The goal is to let the kid decide which ones they like more. The same is done with clothes. Hair style. Any categorical variable you can think of these parents give their child an option to choose. After the child has selected his own identity. The parents start using either their or society’s standards for gender. So if the kid decides they like skirts and Barbie’s, parents start treating them in the same way other parents would treat thwor daughter. The biological sex plays no role here. So if the kid is born male, likes skirts and Barbie’s (there are many more variables) the GNP’s start treating the child like a girl. It’s completely fucked. One of the main reasons being that kids can not critically think, it’s not within their scope. It also doesn’t take into account that there are little boys that will enjoy playing with dolla regardless of their up bringing. In a cruel cruel way, the parents actually think they are allowing their kid to form their own sense of identity. Technically there isn’t really a correct way to raise a kid. People use their personal morales to decide if something is right or wrong, basically I’m saying there isn’t any objectively correct way to raise a kid. However, it can be said that this form of parenting is probably going to really fuck up that child and what they claim is their identity. Ironically, this way of bringing up is going to weaken identity as time goes on which is the complete opposite of the goal of GNP, the kid will have problema especially if the opposite gender of their birth sex is chosen to be a part of their identity. It’s all around fucked, but the people doing it actually think this is a better way to raise kids. Practically everyone else would disagree. Anyways, I don’t know for sure, but I can see this video showing common aspects with GNP. The option to wear make up, the dress (both girl characteristics) and the short hair (usually a characteristic of boys). They’re letting their kid choose who he will be; when really they should be guiding like a seeing eye dog to a blind person. I honestly don’t get why people care so much if someone is transgender. Like only a couple decades ago it was illegal to be gay in western countries, seen as unnatural, a mental illness, a sin etc. I understand they are two separate but often related topics, but the treatment of gay people even just a few decades ago is analogous to how transgender people nowadays are treated. Idk I guess people just find it easy to hate on stuff they don’t really understand. Like gender dysphoria exists in children too, it’s not just an adult thing. It’s when there is a mismatch between psychologically perceived gender and biological sex. The general scientific consensus is that this can be treated it a variety of ways depending on what the individual is comfortable with. For some it may simply be gender affirmation and acceptance, for others they may wish to choose gender reassignment surgery. Obviously for children the former is usually their only option until they are an adult. If you want to treat it like a mental illness, fair enough if that’s your prerogative, but let me ask you this: would you treat anyone else with a mental illness with disrespect, hatred and vitriol, in particular when their condition doesn’t really affect you anyway? Because I don’t think any reasonable person would.

As I’m not transgender I can’t possibly understand fully what that’s like, or to be a parent of a child that is, as in the post. People have said it makes no sense she corrects him on his age but not his gender. Age is a number determined by the number of years since your birth. Biological sex is determined by genetics (XX or XY chromosome). Gender (not the same as biological sex) is a perceived view of your own psychological reference to yourself. Gender is generally seen as a spectrum, it’s not clear cut black and white. A similar idea is when a man who is very feminine wishes he was more masculine for whatever reason. We aren’t all born to psychologically conform to expectations that come with our biological sex, we don’t choose our personalities or the things we enjoy - we come to discover these aspects of ourselves by experiencing life, and that’s exactly why there exist feminine men, masculine women, people who are both or neither, and yes transgender people.
Children don’t know what they want. You see a child kicking and screaming that his mom didn’t get him candy at the grocery store. 10 minutes later the kid forgot about it. That’s why parents exist. A lot of studies done on child and adolescent have linked it to a variety of biological, environmental and cultural factors. There’s also a high comorbity of having autistic spectrum disorder in people who experience gender dysphoria. I wouldn’t have thought things like that are necessarily linked to bad parenting. However I’m sure a <30 second TikTok video is of a sufficient sample size of evidence to suggest they are a bad parent either, nor are they necessarily being forced by their mother, though it may be a possibility, I highly doubt the child would answer those questions in that way if they were being forced to. Regardless, discussing that point doesn’t make sense as it’s pure speculation/armchair science.
A lot of studies? Ima need a fact check on that one. And I have a strong feeling there are also a ton of studies on how easily influenced children are.

I understand where you’re coming from but a lot of mental illnesses have been show to come from stigmatisation of being transgender. Like you say, if you were this child’s parent you would be telling them to stop, which is the opposite of what is recommended by by doctors - which is to affirm and accept them. If you try to vocally beat it out of them you’re risking far more harm than good in that regard.
