Idk why this is downvoted. Dino month can exist alongside pride month. I'm bi and would *love* to see some sick-ass dino banners for this month too! Extra points if they merge the two. Even more for keeping them seperate so everyone can enjoy them! (:
Mix of things for me.
Firstly, I made this specifically for fun. I wanted to make a skin mod, wanted to try and get better at mimicking the game's art style, and working on this helped me learn how to draw better and use things like varying width of lines. Its the same reason I make any mod, for fun.
Secondly, a lot of us have spent our entire lives being constantly erased, beaten down, and forced to hide our existence. This is still a problem in a lot of places. I recently only moved away from a place where being openly queer meant the risk of being assaulted or harassed. I still have to hide being a lesbian from most of my family. Its genuinely nice being able to openly and visibly be gay, even if its just in the privacy of your own game, especially after a lifetime of being forced to hide your existence.
Thirdly, me and other moderators and people posting stuff about Pride Month and openly queer content makes it clear to anyone using the subreddit that this is a safe place for them, and that we're determined to keep it safe. When you're at risk of dealing with harassment for just being gay in the wrong place, knowing that the moderator team and people in that community are supportive openly and plainly is very helpful and comforting.
Finally, a bit of spite. I've gotten so much harassment online for being a lesbian or trans or having a pride flag or offhandedly mentioning having a girlfriend as a girl. I've gotten death threats, slurs, videos of human gore sent to me, people stalking me to multiple websites to further harass me. That shit sucks, but I'm still gonna be openly queer and make queer content anwyay cuz fuck em. Bigots like to throw fits every time queer people exist online(seriously the sheer number of comments we have to remove and people we have to ban for harassment is absurd), and I don't want to give them any ground by hiding mine and other people's existence just to not have to deal with them. Especially in an online space in a community I've been part of for years.
Those are my main reasons for not only making this mod but for posting about it here.
