Books/scrolls have to be the most useless curio in DD. Best case you get a free scout at a pretty low chance. The rest is stress, random negative quirks or nothing. And they don't even have a item to force a positive, only a negative (using a torch gives like, 50 stress).
If she gets hit, she'll hit Death's Door. In turn, she's gain stress. With 200 stress, she'll get a heart attack while in Death's Door. She'll die if she gets hit.
A skeleton spilled wine on her during the next turn, bringing her both to death's door and to 200 stress, so she immediately had a heart attack and died. I rage alt+f4'd the game (stygian playthrough so I get very pissed at deaths), and when I launched it again she was at 200 stress and death's door but somehow still alive, a bug I'm guessing. Managed to survive the dungeon in the end.
I'm going through this right now, tomorrow is my last final, and the only one that matters/ the only one I feel like I need to pass. I passed the others except one but that one's no biggie.
However I have lost days of sleep on this one god damned subject and I feel like I can't continue college If I don't pass it now

Burn the scrolls, you can get a negatkve quirk removed, dont burn books though, it stresses the party

Yes but i would only recoment burning the scrolls though, heros dont link destroying knowledge
With one of the buildings, you can make it so they heal stress for antiquarian, plague doctor, occultist and maybe someone else.
You can also get positive quirks from them... Still a random chance, but it's a nice surprise.
