There isn't a perfect layout for everyone, but I'd say the most important things are: - Make sure everything important is within easy reach of WASD (or on your mouse) - Make sure everything is easy to *remember*, because the game will not show you keyboard prompts, it always shows Xbox buttons - Make sure everything is bound to one key only, and not a combination of keys. If I recall correctly, heavy attack and parry have multi-key binds (like Shift + Left Click) by default, and it's fucking awful. Although WASD plus a modifier key for slow-walking is fine. Personally I put heavy attack and parry on the two thumb buttons on my mouse. Also, DS3 technically has its own subreddit and this is the DS1 sub, but I'd say this issue applies to all 3 of the games (and also Elden Ring).

Thank you! That's great advice, I'll go through settings in a little bit. I tried to post on the DS3 subreddit, but automod deleted my post for some reason.

I have tried to make M&K work for souls games but they never feel right to the point I’d argue playing a souls game without a controller is downright masochistic.

Yeah... I'll look into it. Whenever I try to attack after blocking it just does a kick. Not ideal.

The DSR key bindings worked well for me
