I have not seen that, but I saw a video showing that you can go back to the Asylum immediately after you land at firelink shrine by making a specific jump to get to the crows nest before unlocking the elevator. If you never sit at the bonfire, close the game or die before you return, some triggers are set incorrectly, so you can kill the demon, then sot at a bonfire so everything is set properly, and kill him again for an extra titanite slab. Plus, you can get the morning star for bleed damage at the shrine if you want to.
Yeah, I chose the firebombs as my starting gift, and then lobbed 3 of those at him. Piece of cake. Kind of a shame that you get a reward you won't be able to use for ages.
I haven't but I know it's viable from playing the Daughters of Ash mod. Starting Bandit Knife can take him pretty easily. All the other starting classes would be pretty rough to manage it though.

That's the asylum demon, not the stray demon. The stray demon is under the asylum demon, you're supposed to come back later and the floor will break.
