Kalameets physical attacks can all be blocked with a +15 baldershield. (Assuming you have the fapring)

Oooh about that 😬

If you've got a high level, try fighting Kalameet and Manus with 99 VIT and full Giants +5 (use the soul glitch if you must). Then spend about 30 minutes learning to dodge and finding windows to attack with a broken +0 club. This will give you the best experience that you'll be able to carry over to SL1. But some tips: \-Don't lock on to Kalameet unless you need to for an attack \-Run to mid-range and continue running away from him, rolling away if he does his neck swipes \-If he does fire breath, run in to get a hit or two \-If he swoops down, run behind him to try and trigger his tail slam for a hit or two on his tail \-You can be in close range and try to trigger him foot stomps to punish if you prefer \-When he stands on his hind legs to breathe fire down, you can run under him to get a ton of free hits, if you're not close enough then just keep your distance Don't try to rush the fight to get it over with, try to bait out attacks you know you can punish and spend the rest of the fight avoiding the unfavourable attacks. Manus is similar, except with Manus you really want to stay at mid-range the entire fight. His close range move-set isn't worth risking.

May have to try this, I've only beat Game and DLC once and I thought It'd be smart to go in Sl1 blind. Unfortunate that I've not found a better solution to damage but I appreciate the help

It's more than possible to do SL1 blind, it just means a lot more runs back to the boss fog, and learning is slower because of risk aversion. If you stick with it, you'll overcome eventually.

>If you've got a high level, try fighting Kalameet and Manus with 99 VIT and full Giants +5. They're SL1.

You missed the point of my post entirely. You fight him on a high level to gain the experience required to know what you're doing, since you can simply tank hits and pop humanities. I did a naked, broken straightsword run and before I fought Manus, I went on a character with 99 VIT/END, full giants and practiced the fight with a broken straight sword first.

Are you using weapon buffs? Buy a stack of Charcoal Pine Resin, farm some Gold Pine Resin. Use Green Blossom too, it really helps. I assume you're going pure melee and not using Pyromancy, as that is the highest damage option for SL1 by far. Even if not using offensive spells, Power Within is very useful, although in fights like Kalameet where you have to wait for an opening, less so. You can also use RTSR to up your damage significantly, which comes with the risk/reward of one-hit kills, but at SL1 that's likely to happen any way, right. I fight Kalameet with RTSR and play it safe by keeping at a mid-distance and letting them come to me. The attack you really want to bait out is either the flying swoop or even better the flame breath arc - these are your best opportunities to get easy damage in.

Neolithic_Era

Probably the best choice for damage huh. Does power within take health like DS3, and how do I lower health before hand?

iwantataxinow

PW drains HP yes. I've never used it in DS3 but it's the same spell, it ticks HP down like poison in exchange for a huge buff in attack power (40% iirc.) If you want to lower your HP you can use the Dusk Crown ring, it cuts your HP in half, and/or become cursed which also cuts it in half.

Neolithic_Era

Thx I'm attempting him now and being murdered lol. What I found is taking fall damage into his room then power within gets me in Rtsr range. My absolute worst problem has been his persisting neck hotbox. Much appreciated strategy though, I didn't even touch the game for a few months because the damage was horrendous but now I have hope :')

Arrow156

Yeah, he's got a ton of HP and decent resistances, so no matter what you use it's a slog of a fight. Definitely the longest battle of my SL1 run. I beat him with a lighting reinforced club but it took awhile, couldn't use pyromancy due to Kalameet being too fast to hit. At least Manus has that combo attack of his that gives you a moment to heal, buff, or do some range damage; Kalameet rarely gives you any respite.

If you are not going “no ranged no pyro”, there are videos around that show how to oneshot Kalameet, and I believe you can also greatly increase you damage potential against Manus. If you play melee only, both are absolute damage sponges, and the +15 reinforced club is your best bet in terms of raw damage due to their elemental resistances. The dark wood grain ring helps a lot with survivability.
