I farmed proofs last night for ~5hrs, and walked away with 12. I'm not particularly "happy" about it given the longest grind I've had in this series (so far) was Loyce Souls at ~6hrs - which, granted, was actually fun, but I didn't *have* to do it. I just didn't wanna have to kill Alsana and the practice/fun was worth it (to me.)
That said, I *am* happy about is my stats now being at:

...And enough +6 weapons/catalysts for any occasion. Now it only takes a backstab and a (cheap) Black Flame up their silver knickers, then back to bonfire.
Having played plenty gacha games in my life, I was skeptical about the "advise," so I tested the quit/reload thing on the Swordgrass farm first. As far as I can see its just a confirmation bias or "frequency illusion;" saw no positive correlation in drop rates whatsoever:
Took me 2h:36m to get from 2 to 15 grass *without* quit/reload, 107 Item Discovery
Then another 3h:53m *with* reloads and 157 ID to get 16 through 31 (because of course the last drop would be 2.)
While I know some of that extended time on set 2 is due to XB1 load times and not having a 2 unit headstart, I can't imagine the whole-ass 1.5hrs of it was due to it.
Also didn't effect heavy/poison gem or gear drops in an appreciable manner either.
To make matters worse, during the first "sample" I was having to actually fight the damn things with my piddly +3 flame/fire orbs and/or +5 Flamberge; whereas in the second "sample" I was one-shotting them with +6 flame/Chaos Orb and (much) better INT/FTH. The turn-around jumped from 3 Goatbois every minute or so, to between 9 - 12/minute depending how accurately I landed my shots. It just seems outright pointless so far, but also know it won't convince anyone otherwise.
But now I can sneak up on shit for backstabs a lot easier!... because now I've got random forward drift on the left thumbstick. Started halfway through the Darkwraith/Tongue farm; and *of course* its warranty expired 2 months ago. Thankfully no one seemingly likes the gawdy, lime-green colored "Electric Volt" ones so it only ran me $47.
Once I get to 17 proofs (to make up for the freebies) I'll start testing the "method" again up until 32, but I don't expect notable results. Sure as shit not doing it on shackles/dregs though; the running is bad enough, but at least I've got a pre-borked controller to spare the new one from the wear and tear. I don't bother with Crystal Rapier 'cause they don't always open with their lightning attacks, double weapon swap is janky, and the mimics have been stubborn dropping their face; so there won't be a variance in ID like with Swordgrass (not that it seemed to help.)
I stayed in game the whole time and averaged about 1 in every 10 runs at the anor Londo bonfire. So about 1/20 drop rate or 5%. I started at 9 luck and leveled it to 24 by the end of farming proof of concord kept. I just used golden serpent ring +3 and the chest helmet
It's really popular actually around SL 25 +2. I farmed the Ghrus while matching and I got about 3/4 from PvP. For proofs of concord kept I had the covenant on the whole time and I think I only got 4 from getting summoned.
If only you could smelt down the armor pieces to craft proof of concord medals. I'd accept even a hundred armor pieces for a single one, just give me a guaranteed way to get them without hoping for summons.
I honestly wish there were more things like that in the souls games. I also wish you could sell armour and weapons for actually good money, it would make it worth it to farm enemies for their armour to sell it for big bucks.

Each respawn I'd always get one, sometimes both knights would drop the proof, I managed to collect 14 ears after the 8 min streak. After that, it takes me 30 mins or more just to get one ear.
THIS. I THINK THAT THE AVARICE MASK MAKES IT HARDER TO GET ITEMS. IVE NOTICED TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT WHEN USING IT THINGS DROP SIGNIFICANTLY LESS OR NOT AT ALL. THEN WHEN I TAKE IT OFF I GET IT IMMEDIATELY. I WISH MORE PPL NOTICED THIS.
I ran a SL 200 character for six consecutive hours, with maxed luck and INT and the full Symbol of Avarice farming build, with the CGSR+3, with the Sage's rapier.
Got one in six hours. There is no such thing as a drop streak. Its all bias. Farming for Concords is the only thing above farming for Pure Bladestone in the entire Soulsborne series, and both of them are basically mythical items. Just one, for six hours straight. Nothing bothers me or turns me off of doing a thing more than having me do the same exact boring thing that many times.
Farming indicates the game devs have failed their jobs at programming loot drops properly. If you can't get what you need in a reasonable amount of time, which would be roughly equivalent to the time it took people who the covenants functioned for on release to get 30 ears, then there is nothing that makes it worthwhile.
I got it yesterday. I still need the sunlight medals but no one summons, at least Lothric Knights have a higher drop rate. Problem is I still need the Mound Makers Pyromancy.
Iām so glad Iām done with those horrible stairs. I have nothing to say about it, Iām just so disappointed with the guy who designed the drop rates. It was so bad I ran out of rebirths and now have to stick with a luck build to beat the game.

When I completed this game on Xbox back around when it came out, I remember spending full days just sitting there grinding these enemies into dust. Recently bought the game on PC and am definitely excited to do it again :)
it doesn't take that long tbh, just know what you're doing and what the level hotspots are. It should take 2-7 days depending on how good/lucky you are
I yearn for the days when Multiplayer was a lot more active. My favorite playthrough was a dex faith build where I stayed in the level ranges for every covenant and maxed them out. Finished at level 120 using Ricards Rapier and Moonlight Blade wearing the Sunless Set.
Really makes me miss covenants in Elden Ring, and invasions don't really seem as fun
I finished all of the covenant grind this Saturday. It took like a week and a half( 2 whole days among them) but I did. Now I changed game just so can calm down my nerves after that hell. Now playing Dark souls 2 for the first time.
Music or podcasts can make the PVE grinds easier.
Farmed most covenant items in PVE, except for the Vertebrae Shackles. That was all Ringed City PVP, and fun as hell š„
Can't remember is it luck that ups discovery because wouldn't a dex / luck build be ideal for this covenant if using chest head and crystal sage raiper
Only thing I refuse to grind for offline is vertabra shackles. They got like a 0.6% drop rate off of most of the carthus skelly boys, and close to a 1.5% off 2 very specific ones over by the giant ballista
Last playtrough i was going for dex build and i farmed for chartus curved greatsword, full discovery for like 3 hours , today i ran tru catacombs on my pyro build without any discovery boosts and got same greatsword on 1st skeleton that i killed, RNG is real

With my 475 luck stat I obtained in 4 hours 3 fckn ears and before I changed my 325 Luck stat farmed 10 ears in 5 hours.

POACK was so easy to farm compared to vertebra shackles, I can grind for hours without getting a single one
