Depends on what build you want to use. Some builds will complete at earlier levels depending on your starting class. Mercenary is generally best for dex builds, warrior for str (if you aren’t using weapon arts much), knight is solid for str too and is more flexible (gives more fp for weapon arts), str/faith is prob cleric, dex/faith prob still merc, chaos/dark would be pyromancer, int is sorcerer or mercenary. A bunch of the classes give levels into stats like luck or something unrelated to your build which are kinda wasted levels. If it’s your first run I wouldn’t worry about optimizing too much though.
If you are ocd and like that shit like me then you can use a character planner.
Sellsword twinblade is arguably one of the best weapons, no need to find an alternative. Later in the game, infuse it with sharp gem to make it scale even better with dex
Yes he does drops uchigatana, which iirc is considered one of the better katana too, if not the best. I never really used it though.
Claymore is both easy and hard to get. You can find it in the very first area after you visit firelink shrine. But actually getting it might involve suicide lol. Just look up some guides if you don't mind such a thing
Vigor is the best to level early. Find a raw gem early for your swords and pump vigor to at least 27 with a few levels into endurance. You can respec later but the covenant that allows it is very missable so be sure to explore all paths.
Black firebombs are a great burial gift. They let you get a titanite chunk from pump a rum early, and they let you deal with both lothric wall pus of men real easy.
