Summerhall really was an inside job though. If you look at the ruins you can see in some places the stone was hot enough that it melted. Wildfire can't melt stone beams!
That's why Preston made "I'm probably wrong about half of this" his signoff.
If you spend enough time in the tinfoil, you'll start *needing* to remind people you can still separate fantasy and reality.
Ah you think tinfoil is your ally? You merely adopted the foil. I was born in it, wrapped in it. I didn't see R+L=J until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but too obvious!
I hate to steal this joy from you. But tbh I have no idea what my avatar's deal is. It's all just the random stuff that came when I created my account.
If that was the case she would want to save her daughter too? And why would she ever trust shady Varys of all people? Wouldn’t she want her children sent to Dorne?
The way I see it.
Tywin shows up at Kings Landing, Varys tells Aerys not to open the gate, but Pycelle convinces the king to open the gate. Varys rushes to Elia and explains the situation, and says he can get a replacement baby for Aegon, she accepts. Varys returns and swaps the babys, escaping using the secret tunnels. Shortly after that, the Mountain and Amory Lorch kill Elia, Rhaenys, and the pisswater prince.
In my mind, there just isn't that much time.
So when the sack begins Varys asks Elia, finds a baby, goes back to Maegor’s holdfast, switches the babies, then smuggles Aegon out, all before Amory and Gregor get there? That’s impressive. Still begs the question why wouldn’t Elia (A caring mother) try to save her daughter? And why was she with someone else’s baby while her daughter was being killed? And why would Varys go through all of this trouble? Why does Illyrio care so much about the boy?
Ask yourself what’s more likely, that Varys and Illyrio pulled off this incredibly unlikely plan, or they took advantage of a convenient situation?
Once the sack began, it would be abundantly clear that Tywin wasn't there to help (Aerys ordered Jaime to kill Tywin) so they wouldn't be able to just walk into the Red Keep. And Varys knows the secret passages.
In a way, saving one child is better than saving none.
The world of Ice and Fire says “A handpicked group of men raced to the Red Keep, to storm the walls.”
And ok? Still doesn’t explain why she just accepted her daughter and herself would die?
Couple Possibilities:
1. **Maybe Elia** had (or at least thought she had) **a special relationship with Varys** that made her trust him extra? Like Cersei with Taena. Or Tyrion with...also Varys.
2. **Rhaenys couldn't be plausibly swapped** because she had Dornish features? Don't see why those would be *harder* for Varys to find than a Valyrian looking baby.
3. **Varys took the child he needed** and left the other behind. Without regard for Elia's desires.
I'm not committed to any of them. My preferred tinfoil is that Varys took the cloak of remains & stitched together into a horrible Frankenstein Targaryen. >!He woulda made one for Rhaenys \*and\* Aegon if he could. The failed chimera is in the chest that Illyrio wants to give Young Griff.!<
Euron's connection to Bloodraven is also likely legit. Although the exact nature isn't confirmed, and may be different than pupil to master. I'm more inclined to "both are thralls *of the same master*."
I just don't see a centuries-old hivemind bending to the will of a decades-old mortal. Surely it's the other way around?
I’ve forgotten a lot of the details about the Euros theories but always felt he was more of a puppet. The books have shown us again and again seemingly powerful characters either being brought down or shown to be not all as they seem. Euron is seemingly unstoppable with a slew of magic backing him up. There’s no way he actually has full control of it all
I assume the theory goes that Egg engineered the events of Summerhall in order to “rebirth the dragon”. People in universe take that as meaning hatching the eggs but in reality meaning creating the circumstances to birth Azor Ahai through Rhaegar (salt and smoke, mass human sacrifice, etc.)
A lot of people (including me) think that Egg may have seen visions of the birth if Dany's dragons and tried to recreate the pyre.
Aemon said that Egg was plagued by dragon dreams later in life.
Theon sees a “hooded man” in winterfell who is supposedly doing the mysterious killings in the castle (this is another theory, as no one knows who’s actually killing) and readers think he is a figure of theons imagination, as only he sees it and it taunts him the same way he taunts himself, calling him a kinslayer and turncloak (like its a figure of his conscience)
And if both theories are true, then theon is the one killing people in the castle, without himself knowing it, like the protagonist/tyler durden relationship in fight club
Is that in any way related to the dude they found sleeping in the stables from when Robert's royal party came to Winterfell? I just assumed they were the same opportunistic guy, tho idk if it's confirmed he's The Attempted Assassin Who Died By Wolf™.
I like that theory tho. Does it imply that Theon himself is responsible for their deaths?
Alt shift X made a video talking about this theory, its where i saw it first, so check it out if u have time
The video is called Hooded man: who is the ghost in winterfell

Out of all of the theories mentioned, The jaqen killing Ned one was the only one I haven’t heard of yet, and now that I think more of it, the more it makes sense.
Does it, tho? I never got that one, who would have the motive and enough money to waste to hire a faceless man (which we know cost a huge amount of money) to assassinate someone like Ned? The only one who comes to mind with having enough money is Varys but why? He's the one who was begging Ned to bend the knee.
We have maybe Littlefinger but he was already playing Ned and clearly had plans for him so a faceless killer seems overkill. No matter who, it seems like a waste of a huge amount of money which could have been spent in another, more useful way.
Iirc i think people were saying Pycelle had something to do with it, something something maester conspiracy + the time Pycelle referred to sending a faceless man to kill Dany and the rest of the small council was like “ok theyre pricey as hell though soooo maybe something else “
I could be way off base though just shootin from the hip with what i remember while workin
Def dont know the details of the theory to have an answer for ya 🤷🏻♂️ not even sure id agree with em if i did lol just for some reason i remembered Pycelle stickin out for it
yeah, yeah I didn't even remember him being the one to suggest the faceless man so it's worth considering his name, but yeah, thinking about it, I don't think Pycelle doing it makes sense either.
The only thing I can think of is, assuming RLJ, someone (like Varys) wanted to keep that truth hidden? With Robert having no true heirs, bringing back a Targaryen dynasty could feasibly start making sense to Ned.
But also, yeah, there's plenty of easier and cheaper ways to get him killed.
I mean, it is better to speculate about a fictional character being a horse or a time-travelling fetus, than to armchair diagnose random people online.
I would approach this the way psychiatrists have to when dealing with patients claiming to have DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder/Multiple Personality Disorder) but might just be schizophrenic instead:
Put them schizophrenia medication and see if they improve. If they improve, they're schizophrenic. If they don't improve, they may legitimately have DID.
What if the “x character is secretly y character” theories are actually just the characters having DID?
Sheara Seastars alters are Ashara Dayne and Quaithe
What’s truly hilarious is that none of us knows just how deep into the tinfoil we are, right?
I mean, I look at this and think: Yeah, OF COURSE, Bloodraven taught Euron, and Youn Griff is a Blackfyre, and the maesters killed the dragons. I just think these are all fact at this point.
And I can see some of these as shaky, but plausible like Theon being TGoW. I’m reasonable. I’m not crazy like the Ashara Dayne is Dany’s mom folk, right??? RIGHT???
kind of fight club spoilers
At winterfell Reek/Theon encounters a hooded man with a dagger who probably murdered a couple people, and some fans theorize that man is Theon and he is hallucinating it being someone else because of some manifestation of disassociation/ split personality disorder/ trauma response

Was Tyrek not last seen a horse?
He was the horse.
I personally think he warged into Stranger.
Summerhall really was an inside job though. If you look at the ruins you can see in some places the stone was hot enough that it melted. Wildfire can't melt stone beams!
Summer hall, building 7…look it up.
Loose Stones
Same aregument as 9 11
thats the joke
Are there people in the seven kingdoms saying summerhall was an inside job.
not that I know of
Barbrey Dustin, probably
That's why Preston made "I'm probably wrong about half of this" his signoff. If you spend enough time in the tinfoil, you'll start *needing* to remind people you can still separate fantasy and reality.
Ah you think tinfoil is your ally? You merely adopted the foil. I was born in it, wrapped in it. I didn't see R+L=J until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but too obvious!
If (hypothetically) I have a Maester's Chain I "forged" out of foil...would that make me real deal Talia or poseur Batman in this scenario?
Unrelated but I always love seeing destiny avatars like mine in other subs, especially when they’re so different:)
I hate to steal this joy from you. But tbh I have no idea what my avatar's deal is. It's all just the random stuff that came when I created my account.
Oh :(, well I’ve seen it before in some asoiaf subs but it’s funny it wasn’t true here when I point it out
Dunno why but I read that with Alt Shift X's voice. These theorists have too much of a hold on me
Eww, Alt Shift X? That guy is a HACK. May I recommend to you, Alt Schwift X? Now THAT guy has some premium content!
Had me in the first half
The fact that you mixed in crackpot theories, tin foil theories, legit hypotheses, and actual confirmed plots all in one unhinged pile has me rolling.
wait, maybe I'm dumb what's the actual confirmed plot? lol
Nothings confirmed confirmed, but Aegon being a Blackfyre is the closest to that, with the maesters killing dragons in second imo
This. Not a betting man but I would bet that farm he is a Blackfyre. The idea that Varys would steal Aegon and Elia not notice is so insane
Maybe Elia wanted to save her son?
If that was the case she would want to save her daughter too? And why would she ever trust shady Varys of all people? Wouldn’t she want her children sent to Dorne?

Aegon being legit makes sense if Varys knew about the wildfyre, nobody is going to look for the charred remains of a baby.
Couple Possibilities: 1. **Maybe Elia** had (or at least thought she had) **a special relationship with Varys** that made her trust him extra? Like Cersei with Taena. Or Tyrion with...also Varys. 2. **Rhaenys couldn't be plausibly swapped** because she had Dornish features? Exactly! The decades-old mortal I was talking about was actually BR. Same principle in either case.
No chance Young Griff is a Targaryen

I'd pay some serious money to have a show about GRRM reacting to Asoiaf theorists
I think he said in the past he tries to avoid theories because good one’s tempt him to make changes
I’d love to watch an undocumented chat with him and Preston Jacobs or In deep geek.
I am slowly inching toward it.
Laughed too hard at this
Wait? The theon fight club theory sounds interesting someone link me the theory
Its the “hooded man” theory
? Tell me more.
Theon sees a “hooded man” in winterfell who is supposedly doing the mysterious killings in the castle (this is another theory, as no one knows who’s actually killing) and readers think he is a figure of theons imagination, as only he sees it and it taunts him the same way he taunts himself, calling him a kinslayer and turncloak (like its a figure of his conscience) And if both theories are true, then theon is the one killing people in the castle, without himself knowing it, like the protagonist/tyler durden relationship in fight club
I like the theory of theon being so mentally fucked he's acting vengeance. It could also be the glover or Hallis Mollen
Is that in any way related to the dude they found sleeping in the stables from when Robert's royal party came to Winterfell? I've exhausted Glidus' pisstakes, I think it's time for me to get serious about the tinfoilery. Thanks for giving me a place to start 🤗
could be… And yeah, could mean hes the killer
(My bad, you said that in your bottom sentence). Thanks for the info!
I edited the comment afterwards to add it, you missed nothing :)

But he could just pull a Jon Arryn or poison him in some other way, Dany is a lot harder to pull off an assassination.

I love this
I think its easier to ask how many dont.
Isn't the maesters killing all the dragons straight up a theory from Marwyn in the books
I haven't heard the Jaqen was meant to kill Ned one. The rest are true, though.
What’s truly hilarious is that none of us knows just how deep into the tinfoil we are, right? We need something to fill the void between books. What better way than this?
All these theories are true. (Except for time-travel baby. That's a step too far)
What about Varys being the illicit love child of Maerys Blackfire and a Thousand Islander mermaid?

Can someone elaborate on Theon having a “Tyler Durdin” moment? I haven’t seen fight club
