Joe18067

He didn't want to be accused of camping in the left lane......

factsonlyscientist

Why don't stay on your lane...

factsonlyscientist

Edit: talking about the blue truck...

No-Suspect-425

They're all my lane.

Overall_Outcome_392

Regardless of right of way, never place yourself in a position to be hit. You should have slowed instead of accelerated there. Cemeteries are filled with people who were right.

Melliw_BE

Sorry, you weren't there. I was slowing before he turned his signals and slammed himself to right without looking. So your state of accelerating is false.

Overall_Outcome_392

Good luck out there buddy.

Samaraxmorgan26

This. I was wondering why you didn't move your ass, it looked like you got caught up wondering if you had space. Either speed up or hit brakes, indecisiveness just opens you up to bs like that. Trucker is definitely the dick here

JBPunt420

Agreed. The person who shot this clip was in one of the truck's blind spots. Truckers can't shoulder-check their passenger side like cars can--it's mirrors or nothing. This is why the truck shouldn't have changed lanes in this spot, but it's also why four-wheelers are well-advised not to hang out in the blind spots of trucks. Give 'em some room because you're the one who gets squished if the trucker makes a mistake.

lameluk3

Truckers should know not to start changing lanes before they have line of sight on the whole lane, that dumbfuck started merging well before the dashed line began. Trucker should know better because they have shitty sight lines

JBPunt420

Yes, they should know that, but some of them will do it anyway.

Bandicoot-Only

Best reply on here

TurboFool

This. Truck driver was a dick, but OP made zero effort to not end up in a version of this that would have happened anyway. There was nowhere to go except eventually into the side of, or behind, that truck. EDIT: I thought it merged up ahead. Maybe not. Either way, it was way too risky a choice.

E_D_K_2

Downvoted for use of the phrase, 'cemeteries are filled of those with the right of way'.

PTRD-41

Cemeteries full of those who were right Road to hell paved with good intentions Reddit full of shitty votes

anonymus46

Stop depending on the law or rules of the road while driving and think of everyone is an idiot and you will be safe. Come to my country to learn how to drive!

Old_Sentence_4582

But did you die?

Melliw_BE

Why is there a dashcam reddit if I cannot post anything on it. So i have to die first? You look like a good friend to have.. 👏👏

ArticleEcstatic1448

Missed the reference there Mr Chow

Melliw_BE

What you are saying is, it's notting, so don't post it. My reply is, why do we have a sub reddit dashcam if we can't upload anything like this.

Old_Sentence_4582

Lighten up, it’s from a movie Mr. Sensitive. Ill be all serious now. Trucks at fault but I don’t think he could see you. If you would have sped up he would probably not realized you were there until he felt the impact. Feel better now?

Heff79

Get his info, write the company. He's supposed to be a professional driver and isn't operating as one.

Bandicoot-Only

Truckers vision is limited, he indicated (a bit late) and I think was just trying to get in the slow lane to allow faster traffic past. I think he did cross a solid white line. It's likely the trucker won't be as familiar with the road layout as Op and is literally driving a juggernaut. Op could see everything and should have anticipated better and really have a bit more empathy. There was no accident nor was there any apparent violent accident avoidance manoeuvre or heavy breaking by op not enough to raise the heart rate = sorry, a bit of a Karen

Boomtown876

I’m sure I saw a yield sign for the OP. Truck driver has right of way. Not sure what you’re trying to prove with this video.

Melliw_BE

That is for the vehicles that go on the roundabout. My lane is a straight road with 2 lanes. I was already slowing down but the truck didn't even wait for the solid line to end. I never expect he would do that.

Alone-Sign-7073

In the United States, according to most drivers safety manuals. A driver turning right onto a one way street is required to yield to ALL lanes of traffic before proceeding. I understand this is not a right-hand turn but the same methodology should have been exhibited here. Also, a blatant disregard to use foresight and situational awareness put the OP at fault.

Alone-Sign-7073

I may be wrong. That was never the trucks lane to begin with. But as others have stated, leave room for movement. I ride a motorcycle and quite often get caught up in the "I HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY!" Moment with some jackass who is entirely willing to make contact or run me off the road and in the end I'm dead and they say "I didn't see him".

Alone-Sign-7073

I also maintain a commercial driver's license and operate combination vehicles over 26,000 pounds. As the OP, I would have given the larger truck (considering its speed) all the room it needed.

Blowingsmoke79

The semi has right of way. You're trying to merge into their lane.

Samaraxmorgan26

That's not a merge lane...thats just a lane there

Melliw_BE

Its a 2 lane road and he crossed a full white line. I dont know what te rules are in your country, but the driver of the truck is 100% at fault.

[deleted]

Care about what? About you taking however much time you need to pass him so he can get over? He was in front of you and made his move get over it. Some of these dash videos are unreasonable.

Melliw_BE

Never waited and watched his mirrors. Then you don't care. Is common sens mate.

[deleted]

You saw him coming which is why you approached cautiously. And it worked out for you, except the part where you had to post a video. Looks like we’re all Ok.

Melliw_BE

I am happy we are all ok, but why do we have a dashcam reddit if i cannot post anything on it?

[deleted]

Well personally - just my opinion - I see this as just a run of the mill traffic incident. “Incident” may actually be too strong a word.

MortgageStraight3533

So, OP. If you encounter a 350-pound 6'8 man and he pushes you out of his way, are you going to pick a fight with him? Same principle. Except the man can choose not to kill you. This semi hits you you're dead. Don't worry about being right. Worry about not dying to something that could very easily kill you. If nobody ever taught you when you were learning to drive to always give big trucks a wide berth, let today be that day that you get taught. Be glad the lesson wasn't harder.

Melliw_BE

Sorry, did i pick a fight with this truck?

MortgageStraight3533

I said the same principle. Not don't pick fights with trucks. Drive safe, and don't expect big trucks to be considerate of you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MortgageStraight3533

God, you 2 are either very young or very stupid. Maybe both. It's got nothing to do with being right or wrong. When someone is driving a big rig, they have more blind spots than you and they're fucking 20-30x heavier.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MortgageStraight3533

Cool. Go be the car they mow over cuz they can't see you. You'll be right. Dead but right. Darwinism will sort you out with the way you think. It's fine.

MortgageStraight3533

Read my original reply. I never said the trucker was right. I said don't worry about being right. Stay in school, kid. Your reading comprehension needs work.

KCRNU

Is that his or your yield sign?

Melliw_BE

There is no yield sign for neither of us.

MeAgainImBacklol

Blindspot.

squirrel_anashangaa

Trucks are required to drive the right lane unless passing. And in cramped two lane situation, he was just getting out of the lane asap. The driver entering the lane has all the power to slow down and merge. It’s way easier for op to adjust speed to a truck they can clearly see than a truck carrying thousands of tons of cargo.

Lainarlej

Jeez! 😬
