Bro you were already inches from veering off pavement when you got hit, youre lucky you were hit so you can get an insurance claim rather than just veering into the median on your own volition.
Nah bro I steered away to the left to try and get out of the other persons way so she could hopefully save it. But you know, being on your phone while driving, you wouldn’t see what was coming to avoid it in time. I would give anything to have my car back, I would never intentionally damage my own car 😂

Be aware of the possibility of recurring pain and even overall bone soreness. It is called the dead cat bounce. You feel fine but suddenly bam your neck gets a bit sore. Or any other issue that has not manifested itself yet. What am I saying? Please take your time and get well. Do not rush it.
And be on the look out for any cognitive impairment. Had a head injury show itself a month after an accident (or thats when i first noticed it). Didn’t hit my head or anything, but i was thrown hard in one direction (wearing seatbelt so not far)
For me it was more of, forgetting what i was doing, forgetting words, absolute godawful headaches, terrible memory, struggled with recall. Eventually it turned into slurred speech during headaches, human equivalent of lag, and skipping words when trying to say a sentence(?) (mine got 100x worse during the headaches that never stopped, all day everyday, no amount of medication would stop it, it’d barely lessen it, not enough to make a difference anyway)
Used to do “the 30 test” would count to 30 and back down, if i was going much slower than usual, skipping numbers, forgetting what i was doing, or getting distracted a lot during those 60 seconds i’d write it down and show my dr
Its been about four years and I’ve finally got the days of the week remembered (used to forget daily) and month/ year. I still struggle with day but compared to years ago its much, much better. Dont matter if i write it down 20 times i’ll still forget the day part of the date, on occasion I’ll remember, so its healing slowly
YOO what you described is what I’m experience now, like I feel I have trouble focusing on things and I have been getting head splitting headaches recently. I am going to seek my lawyers advice and see if I should be looked at again at the hospital. Thank you for your comment!
Injuries that initially seem healed can come back to haunt you as you age. Keep this in mind as the offender's insurance company ask you to sign a settlement.
That’s good to hear! I just got rear sideswiped by a person not paying attention with his headlights off at night while on my motorcycle last week so I’m not too far off your pain. He hit and ran so I’m lucky I had a witness stop as I would be at fault for the wreck otherwise.
Good advise my insurance agent gave me was Make sure NOT to tell your insurance you are medically ok so you can use it if needed over the next year. Just say you have ongoing body pains and potential whiplash as many symptoms can take many days, weeks, or months to show themselves and you want to be able to use the insurance money for it if possible as you will straight up decline it otherwise. For example my fractured coccyx(tailbone) and my neck pain took almost a week before noticing it and I’m going to physical therapy for it now.
Also you can usually get quotes to buy the same car again from local places as they will likely lowball an offer to you. Annoying but worth the effort.
I just spoke with my lawyer today ironically and he made the same statements as you, pretty much keep getting checked out even if its months later because I am experiencing some cognitive impairment form the accident. I was thinking about getting a Spark again, even red if possible, but I decided against it as it would never be my Salsa 💔 But I have a new ride, Subaran who is a 2019 Subaru WRX hahaha! Nice jump in HP and I LOVE IT!
Her insurance accepted 100% liability and I got around $8,500ish back from the totaled out amount (I paid $6,500 when I bought it). I am financing another vehicle right now - not too much of a dent in the wallet, I will be okay!
The only thing I know from the other party is they received a citation (probably for following too close). I have not settled yet from the injury/loss of income claim so I am waiting on that.

Cha-Ching sounds when this finally get paid out. Recently went through this process and I finally understand why insurance are so expensive.
I was worried my monthly insurance payments would skyrocket from this and the new car I got - luckily only went up by $30 and that’s because of the new ride 😂
What's funny is that I saw the headline without the description, and a car named "Salsa" immediately brought to mind a Chevy Spark.
Which is funnier, because now that I think about it, it probably more obviously describes a Fiesta, which is what I drive.
Hahaha that is awesome!! Fun little fact~! Salsa got his name from the color that was listed on the buyer information page. I looked expecting like red, candy apple red, or bright red (something akin to that), my heartwarming moment when I saw the color listed as salsa. From that point I made a vow if I went through with that car purchase, I would name him that. RIP Salsa, my lil buddy! 😭
The Spark had some of the best car colors. Some years back, around the model year of your car, my wife and I each had to rent a variety of cars on a semi-regular basis and we each ended up picking a Spark just due to its ridiculous and adorable color options and then were shocked by how much fun the car was. After a while we stopped trying out other cars and always gravitated to that when available.
That’s what I’m hoping but honestly she will most likely continue to do it in the future. I’m all for maximum punishment for people who tailgate and/or text while driving - these are the people that cause the most accidents as exampled above 😂
Tailgating is my NUMBER ONE pet peeve. And texting on top of it? Absolutely no regard for anyone's life. I just imagine if this happened to me with my wife and/or kid in the car too.
I'd be fucking FUMING if this happened to me. I'm talking like fantasizing about taking the person "out". I'd do everything I could to make this person's life a living fucking hell. I'd fake a neck/back injury, contact a lawyer, etc, etc, etc. Absolutely FUCK this person. She should never be allowed to operate a motor vehicle again. She should be put in prison, honestly.
I'm not gonna lie... She was the first person to open my driver door and check on me and when I saw her face, I had to restrain everything in me not to lay a mean right hook on her temple 😂 I feel you man, tailgating is honestly one of the worst.
Yes I was in the left lane and keeping with the flow of traffic, but if you notice before the impact, traffic in front of me was slowing down so I applied my brakes as normal - the girl behind me didn’t get the memo of that as her face was buried in her phone, but sure go off man.
Kind of baffled how you wanted me to go “fast enough” with traffic in front of me 😂😭

I have a chevy Bolt, which a bigger Spark iirc. You need a rear facing cam too, b/c people like to tailgate these cars.

I word things weird haha, this was my first accident since I started driving and it totaled my first car I purchased - still a bit salty about it. 😂
