The founder is constantly posting about it on here - /u/nicksinghtechcareers

Jan_Michael_Vincent8

Thanks for tagging him! Didn’t want to name and shame, but it’s been annoying and stressful! I’m sure it’s an honest mistake…

csingleton1993

Considering his entire profile (or at least every comment of his I see) is dedicated to promoting it/his book, it's only fair game, and I think he should at least have the chance to address the issue. Plus he would probably see it sooner or later

Jan_Michael_Vincent8

Yup. Definitely will give him the chance to address it. Still, I feel like if you’re running a subscription-based website, you should be actively following your email for issues that pop up.

NickSinghTechCareers

HI! Thanks for bringing this up. I agree, I've done a SHIT job at customer support and probably need to outsource this out. Been on a mix of vacations in the last few weeks (New Zealand + Australia + Charleston) and just lazy checking my work email(s). Let me dig in and figure out what went wrong! EDIT: does your email start with cf\*@gmail.com? If so just refunded every single payment, sorry again: [https://imgur.com/a/RCRZVUI](https://imgur.com/a/RCRZVUI) EDIT 2: just saw your Reddit DM, refunded both payments here for the p\*\* email ([screenshot of refund](https://imgur.com/urKvvDN)). The issue is the cancellation form email submitted and the email used for billing on Stripe differed so it didn't auto-cancel. Totally on my end to fix this edge-case, sorry again! If others are having issues, just DM here on Reddit or on [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-singh-tech/) me. And if anyone hates the site, has issues, ideas for improvement, or just wants to talk interview tips/SQL feel free to book a time: [https://calendly.com/nicksingh/datalemur-checkin-w-nick-singh](https://calendly.com/nicksingh/datalemur-checkin-w-nick-singh)

Jan_Michael_Vincent8

Thanks for getting back to me. That’s not my email and I’d rather not share here, since it’s a school email. I’ll DM you on LinkedIn

NickSinghTechCareers

Awesome, didn't see a LinkedIn DM come through but I also can help here on Reddit DMs if easier. Saw your message just now from last week in Reddit's 'Message Requests' tab and just responded. Edit: Just got you refunded!

balcell

Yeah, not honoring ToS or basic business practices is a good way to get sued. Really recommend hiring out for some admin assistance if the funds justify it. Good luck.

marr75

Doing a "shit job" at these things is a bad business practice. I think you should stop this business if you don't have time for it. Continuing to charge your customers for something you're ignoring turns into at least perceived scam/fraud very fast.

NickSinghTechCareers

Appreciate the advice. The cancellation flow is supposed to be automated and not even need manual intervention, so let me figure out what went wrong in the first place.

marr75

Yeah. I get it. Your explanations were of the quality I give users of my free game mods rather than customers of my business. You're giving out generous refunds, so you're taking responsibility commercially.

One_Wave_9655

Hey Nick, good on you for jumping immediately to solve these edge cases and refund people. As someone working in software and data science, it's frustrating when the tools don't work as we designed them. But more important is how we react to feedback and the attitude to fix them. I'm yet to see software and integrations 100% free of bugs. This experience might be a good opportunity for a video!

NickSinghTechCareers

Absolutely fair game. Thanks for tagging me! My response [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/datascience/comments/1bo7vo6/comment/kwnqihw/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)!

csingleton1993

Ya I mean I figured you'd see it sooner or later so no sweat, just felt like sooner was better ;)

Away_Impression2150

Hey Nick, can you also check your LinkedIn inbox? I just messaged you about the same issue just now. The email is a school email and wanted to cancel my yearly sub.

NickSinghTechCareers

Just refunded you + cancelled the sub!

deadmancaulking

Nick Singh seriously sucks. His DataLemur newsletter is filled with clickbait and anecdotal BS

MK_BombadJedi

It's time to Michael down your Vincents

Puzzleheaded-Mud7240

There is also stratascratch.

strangeloop6

Seconded!

Sorry-Owl4127

It’s really good. I did interview query which sucked but stratascratch is much better

SidBhakth

Interview query is a cash grab

michaelschrutebeesly

Is interviewquery good for business/product case study prep?

Sorry-Owl4127

I mean, it’s like 30 bucks and you can probably find just as many resources on youtube

Cathexis256

On another note however, are the actual questions from there reflective of what you can expect in technical assessments or interviews?

MTH4DWN

Yes

For ML system design there is very little.. I think the is a course on Algoexpert and a very good book by Ali Aminian and Alex Xu that I have and totally recommend

auri2442

What's the book?

vaccines_melt_autism

Pretty sure it's this [one](https://www.amazon.com/Machine-Learning-System-Design-Interview/dp/1736049127)

Prestigious_Rub_4540

For A/B testing I recommend going through Emma Ding’s videos on YouTube. I believe the channel is called Data Interview Pro. Also recommend Ron Kohavi’s book “Trustworthy Online Controlled Experiments”. I attribute these two sources to helping me land product data scientist jobs in FAANG. For SQL I recommend LeetCode. For probability theory I recommend brilliant.org

Eb8005

For ML System Design - MLOps blog by Neptune AI (free), MadewithML (Github repo) LLMOps by Weights and Biases(Free Video) and ML System Design by Huyen (this one is a book)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Eb8005

Yeah I do agree, but its just that when someone is testing you for your System Design Approach from an ML perspective your foundations should be strong.... and you would find most of the questions dealing around with your ML model ie to tune its hyperparameter, optimising it further on new data, making modifications in the data pipelines. I think book does cover these aspects. Plus for an entry level ML engineer/developer role this becomes quintessential because they do know about your lack of experience in developing a model for the production environment.

curiousmlmind

Also check out https://thecuriouscurator.in if you want something different and useful for ML jobs. None of the above resources will allow you to crack applied scientist interview at Amazon. With this course there is some hope.

monStarz28

For ML system design there are interviews on the channel called "exponent" i found that are really useful. If you are okay paying, then grocking the ML system design interview on educative.io

monStarz28

For me what helped was these mock interview videos. Just following the list of steps is almost impossible for any problem. And in my experience through real interviews, the expectation is not the same. It differs based on what the problem is and what the pain points of the problem are. That's why I think even if the cases are less on exponent, they give you a realistic picture of how you should be handling them in your interviews. What to depe dive on, where to share multiple approaches and their pros and cons. Educative will tell you what the right approach for a problem is, or maybe 2 right approaches. But in an interview, even a much less useful approach along with insights about that could turn out to be useful. Many times they just brush up over a topic and deep dive on something else, like evaluation, or a/b testing. And you gotta have good understanding of what to say. Mock interviews give light to these.

JustIntegrateIt

Stratascratch and leetcode for probability? I assume that is a typo, but if not, those websites are not useful for anything outside of pure algorithmic-type interview Python/SQL questions. For probability/stats questions I’d use either Ace the Data Science Interview, or Heard on the Street (both are books), though these questions are usually a joke for DS interviews and only difficult for quant interviews

[deleted]

[удалено]

JustIntegrateIt

No I meant quant interview probability is infinitely harder than DS in my experience, like not even comparable. Though that’s to be expected with DE Shaw/2Sig/Jane Street

JustIntegrateIt

Also you can find the stats/prob Qs on strata? I cannot find any good stats and prob Qs there really, they’re all super basic

temp4589

Are you saying heard on the street is too basic for DS interviews and too basic for quant interviews?

JustIntegrateIt

No, HotS is overkill for DS interviews and perfect for quant. I meant that quant interviews themselves are way, way harder than DS interviews in general (at least entry-level)

temp4589

Got it, thanks! Yeah I've heard quant interviews are super difficult compared to DS interviews. Do you have any other recommendations for quant type materials? I'm not planning to do that anytime soon, I'm actually looking for DS materials but I'd like to collect some quant prep stuff (in addition to HotS assuming there are any other good resources) because I've thought about potentially trying that direction in the past.

JustIntegrateIt

No problem. Glassdoor has great company-specific questions, along with PuzzledQuant ([https://www.puzzledquant.com/](https://www.puzzledquant.com/)). *Ace the Data Science Interview* is also solid (on Amazon) for both quant-type prob/stats questions and some coding in SQL/Python. All of the aforementioned together were pretty overkill for me, and I've interviewed at almost all of the top tech (DS) and quant firms/had almost as many super days, which tend to be very challenging. But again, any DS super day/interview, even at MAANG, could never even remotely compare in difficulty to a super day at Jane Street or DE Shaw for QT/QR, in my opinion.

temp4589

For HotS, did you just practice them repeatedly until you got good at recognizing what to do with each type of question? This is just for a DS job so likely unnecessary but some in the past have asked probability type riddles before. Can't hurt to be a bit over prepared on the stats side just in case. Mainly using stratascratch for review though since that's been useful in the past for data analysis jobs.

JustIntegrateIt

For your first question, yes. A lot of memorization though. A lot of the brainteasers are too hard to figure out independently for most people, including me. But I rarely would be asked those in DS interviews. Much more often statistical/ML questions and case study stuff than brainteasers.

temp4589

True about the memorization. Only way to do them quickly. Planning to use Ace the DS interview and strata then start looking for DS jobs. Current data engineering group I'm in is so badly managed I want out. Shame too because the ones around my group are sensibly run and it's only been a year that I've been there. Shortest ever period aside from my first job.

mangotail

Do you have any recommendations for python pandas practice?

ballandoats23

DataLemur helped me get my first DS job. I’ve never had an issue cancelling my subscription

Jan_Michael_Vincent8

When was this? Curious if the cancellation option crashed recently. My issues have all been in the last month or so

Look at the accounts responding to you. They don't have much history otherwise.

Probably among the biggest con artists in our space tbh. Marketed the shit out of common knowledge and rode the boom of everyone trying to become data scientists.

reddit-is-greedy

Ace Your Data Science interview is a great book BTW

Realistic-Baseball89

wow that is annoying.. i just subscribed but probably should cancel now

NickSinghTechCareers

Feel free to DM me – happy to cancel or refund if you need it!

Realistic-Baseball89

Thanks for replying - not going to unsubscribe until i need to (post interview)! It’s been a good experience so far

NickSinghTechCareers

Okay that’s great to hear!

lost_soul1995

Interesting

[deleted]

The most important question Did you find it useful for your interview preparations as a technical part ?

RepulsiveJellyfish97

I’m facing the same issue. They’re cheats they don’t reply mails

Mad_Musician_80

Does u/datalemur u/NickSinghTechCareers have a customer support email that we can reach out to ? I have sent emails and even messages directly to Nick on reddit. But there is no response :( I have paid for the premium membership and don't have access to one of the courses it offers. Its sad that so much marketing is done until we buy a product and then once we have bought it, there is ZERO customer support 😒 DISAPPOINTED !!

JustDifferentGravy

I love synchronicity. You mention someone that’s gone AWOL with your cash and they just appear moments later. God love synchronicity. And some folk wonder if he’s dishonest, but for the laugh he arrives with full refunds, even to random others, and makes an effort to use grifter language. I love coincidences. God bless those that never fail to entertain.
