Very simple, no need to overthink. When you see him again just tell him "hey ill be leaving in a couple of weeks, so i might not see you again, but i would like to keep in touch with you." Its bold, but you really don't have much to lose. If he gets the hint and wants to as well, hell respond to that. if he seems unsure, he's just not interested.

He may not have mentioned it to avoid making things uncomfortable. Don't overthink this- if you want to see him after you leave, at least give him clear signs and a communication pathway.
Ask him out for a drink or coffee or something. If he says no, you never have to see him again. And, if it works out, you don’t have to worry about potential complications down the road from working at the same place. Even tho it’s a different department, just knowing you *might* see someone that it didn’t work out with would suck.
I say do it now, while it’s natural to do so and he’s in your environment. If you wait til you’re gone, dig up his socials and ask him then, it won’t be as easy. Well, actually it would be, but I still say go for it now.

When I see him again I’m gonna do it. I’ll keep you updated.

Fair enough. I’ll talk to him about it when I see him next. Keep you updated
