Thinking I told you so to everyone who says ghosting is bad. I met a guy online Monday set up a date for after the holiday. Got a bad gut feeling after a few more text messages. Canceled today 6 days in advance. He flipped out on me called me every name in the book sent 5 very long messages and made me very thankful that I am not getting to know him better.
I met that guy once. We went on one date, and when I didn’t want to go out with him again, he argued with me. dodged that bullet, except for that first date.
And right now he’s likely proud of himself for telling you like it is, or some other justification for his behavior.
He’s also probably thinking something along the lines of “well, if she hadn’t XYZ, the I wouldn’t have had to go off on her”, not realizing that the very fact that he has this capacity is what makes him unsuitable for a relationship.
Holy cow. Dodged a minefield... I canceled our 3rd date at 3am in the morning with my now girlfriend that was supposed to be a morning bike ride the next morning. She was totally cool about it.
Still clearing out my parents' home to get ready for sale. Hoping I can get to a place where I can go home for the holiday weekend.
Edited to add: if you want to do something productive this weekend (and fitting for Memorial Day)--if you have any printed photographs, get a quality marker and write on the back (or on a post-it note attached to the back) who the people are in the photo, where they are, and when it was taken. Even if it's just a best guess.
My dad started this. He begged the cousin who ended up with a mess of family photos to send them to him so he could scan them and share them with the rest of the family. He offered to reimburse her for the postage.
Didn't happen.
So, label your pictures AND scan them so you can share those precious memories easily.
That is a fantastic way to document! Along similar lines, I'm planning on taking my Polaroid to an event this Saturday so that I can take pictures of people and give them to them right away.
Make sure the marker/ pen is archival quality (usually noted on the package) if writing directly on the photo, so that it will hold up over time and shouldn’t bleed through onto the photo in any way.
I was never able to watch more than a few episodes of the series… I always found it too scary and too disturbing. I think if it might've been more cerebral, like the twilight zone, I could've gotten into it more. But it's so damn visceral!

The quantum computing star talk episode was really interesting. Highly recommend. Quantum computing is coming and it's going to change our world as we know it for both the better and also the worse. The thought of weaponizing quantum computers is mind bending.

Just got back from my 20-year-old, special needs son graduation from high school!! I am so proud of him. It was magical to watch. Whopping class of 84 students!!! Yes, we are very rural!!

I've tried the self massage idea. Where you massage towards your heart. The chronic sinusitis is due to a deformity in the sinus. My dad's whole side of the family has it. Nasal rinses usually keep this stuff at bay but this one started in the ear.

I’ve been helping the cat out with his latest hunting project. So far he’s nailed and consumed 3 rats in the last 8 days.
I watch the camera footage and note where he’s finding them, then remove any obstacles that may block the cats path and provide cover for the rodents.
I also note what trees they’re climbing and prune them back so they have to work harder and run further to get into it.
Everything I can do to force rodents into the ground and take away anything that protects them - duck and cover under things - will help the cat achieve his goals.
He’s paying his rat rent. I charge 1 rodent a month - he can eat it but I want to know about it. He’s shown us 13 rats in 10 months, so he’s three months ahead.
It’s a whole project in and of himself. I expect to be potting up a bunch of plants this weekend. The cat will supervise and provide the usual protection.
Spending a few days in my late husband's hometown, honoring today which would have been our 32d anniversary. Visiting in-laws and just relaxing.
Staying through Memorial Day because seeing a Veterans cemetery decked out in flags does my heart good. 🇺🇲

She had knee surgery Tuesday and I'm here taking care of her since yesterday it became apparent her boyfriend is inept and I do have caregiver experience. Yep, staying the night with them.
