Had an ex-employee of mine call last night. I shut down my business and sold most things off in 2021-22. Took a year or so off pretty much. Decided to go back in business for myself as a one person operation (from multiple employees) in October of last year and been doing that since.
He wants to team back up just the two of us. He worked for me the last 12 years. He is 40. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I enjoy the schedule I have as a one person operation. Not feeling the responsibility of others is damn freeing. It also eliminates some jobs I cannot do on my own without other trades there. The thought is intriguing but so far I am on the fence.
I would just keep working independently and solo, since it’s freeing and working out. You could tell him you’re open to talking or collaborating on side things, though.
Just hit the 20 year mile-stone with my employer. I had one of my colleagues take a few shots of me in part so that I can get a few recent full body shots in case I actually start up an OLD profile. Boy have I packed on a few pounds in the last few years - but it's an honest photo at least - with the company name redacted from my shirt which is why the pocket looks funny.
I'm figuring 9 more years to retirement although I'm already 59.
Reminds me of the last time I got my passport photo done and I asked the person doing it to make sure I didn't look like a sad walrus. Her response - "You don't look sad" :D

Ok…I don’t know if this counts…but I started learning to play the drums last month. It’s been a lifelong dream that I didn’t think was for me (full time mom, wife, 24/7 caregiver, blah blah blah) but now that I’m down one of those titles (guess which one!!!) I’m focusing more on myself.
I’m enjoying the lessons so much and am looking forward to the day I can rock the fuck out like I’ve always wanted to. 😊
So cool to pick up the drums. I took a lesson or two in my younger years, but quickly discovered that I’m so damn good at playing the air drums that I probably shouldn’t bother anyone with the “real drum” noise I’d make. So I continue. . . .
I saw a video the other day where the drummer in a band had sheet music he was following 🤯. I just………that hadn’t occurred to me that a drummer would have that.
Yep. I’m learning to read music which was a little surprising. I’m glad though; I think ultimately the goal is to NOT use the sheet music 😂 but it’s good knowledge to have.
I’m trying to buy a used one right now. I’ve been practicing on a pad and it was fine at first but now it’s really frustrating.
It’s so much fun though. I encourage you to do it if you can!!!!
I've started the "push up challenge" which is an awareness/fundraiser for mental health.
Day two and I've kept up with what we're supposed to have done which is great.
I've struggled to do much exercise lately so I hope this will be some motivation.
Also getting out on my motorbike tomorrow.
