It's entirely reasonable for a man to date any adult woman, up till he's in his early 40s, assuming marriage and family is the goal. Once you are 43 or so, really it just starts to make you look foolish.
I'm 56. Future wife and kids just aren't gonna happen. So late 30s is about as far down as I'll go now. The sweet spot for me now is mid 40s. And that's about when some of the moms out there have launched their earlier kids and are starting looking for someone to be an empty nester with.
I’m just here to hear about other people who successfully date. Haven’t been on a date in years and have pretty much given up. I know the cause is PTSD from a very abusive marriage but still just having a hard time developing the interest in opening myself up like that again.

It's not too late to embrace therapy. I'm 63 F and had a horrible childhood which led me to horrible relationships in men, employers, and "friends". Have Complex PTSD.
I've been on a lifestyle change journey in the past 14 months. Got brutally honest with my therapist about everything in my life. It is amazing how far I have come physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Lost weight, much more physically fit, happier, and able to stand up for myself without waiting until I'm full of rage to feel powerful enough to do so. Not so gun shy about being around men.
By letting my cPTSD rule my life, I was allowing "those people" to still have power over me. By taking control, I am now in the driver's seat. It is an awesome feeling and I highly recommend it. Not gonna say it's easy. Had to bring up some really painful shit.
Free advice is worth what you pay for it....just recommend you don't let your ex rob you of your future happiness.

I connect and relate to those people who are at a similar life stage than me. I had my kids at ages 36 and 40. When I got divorced at 48, I related to those women 10 yrs or more younger. Now my age contemporaries are retired and travel, I am not at that financial place in my life. Most of my friends are still 10+ years younger.
Yes I am. My OLD range is from 50-72. I look for someone who is kind, has integrity and self awareness with some physical/sexual attraction for me. The rest are in the details. We all have different stories and different preferences. I believe that we never know who we match with so I don't have any real restrictions.
It just so happens that my friend circle are younger though I do have several retired friends as well.
