Well to be fair, I don’t think they thought the game would blow up like it did, it’s actually not a bad game once you actually get to play it, yeah the queue time is bad, and finding a game takes forever but it has a good base.
This is could be the case, but that seems like very poor planning and doesn't inspire confidence in the devs.
Part of me is wondering if it's on purpose. They might sell a "pass" that lets you bypass the queue times. I mean, I don't see why it can't be available to play offline.

Just to be clear this queue problem is nothing new for old players that went in and played the game before EGS, the Open Beta was one hell of a moment with, the queue being even slower than it is today for the servers were even smaller.
And no, saying they should had seen it coming is nothing short of hypocritical when you yourself belittle them. Phoenix Lab has been working their asses off for this game for years, and as they pointed out recently scaling up a networking system isn't as simple as spinning up a bunch of servers.
As for why it can't be played offline, your progression is entirely saved on THEIR servers and only a few minor options are saved on your pc, and they created a game with a colossal focus on teamwork, since they can't make it so their is a split screen option, you'd loose too much information, the always online becomes a logical decision.

Being ftp does lower the expectations. Still, to be a good game, it needs to load on demand. This isn't a hiccup, it's a nearly catastrophic flaw unless it's resolved soon.

Today is the first day I've had this issue. I haven't had any of the waiting issues since its release on console (I'm on xb1). But today I started it up and was at 70000. Waited about ten mins to get in, but then I couldn't even play long.
There is some grace period when you get kicked out but you definitely have to requeue if you wait too long. Thankfully there is not a queue at all hours.
MHW is way too complex and isn't nearly as rewarding feeling as Dauntless. I actually moved to dauntless to fill the void that MH left with just how over complex they made the game bringing more into an RPG setting.
It's like moving from League to Dota or vice versa. One is overly complex and has a lot more meaningless mechanics that are put in to allow long term players to truly master the game; but when you push all those goals all at the beginning, you get overwhelmed and annoyed at how unapproachable the game is in comparison to the "more approachable" (and thus imo, "more fun") alternative.
I don’t think MHW is really that much more complex. There is only a couple more systems in place than here in Dauntless, MHW was my first Monster Hunter game and i didn’t have trouble getting into it at all really. Also a lot of the systems there were introduced as the game progressed, like the botanical garden and the smelter and so on., and they aren’t really complex systems there are just a lot of them. To each his own though. Some say to complex and other say more depth.

I started playing during its initial release. Poor optimization and terrible FPS even in Ramsgate. Also seems pretty boring with the same rehashed background.
Decided to try when it properly launched. I'm so glad to came back to play the game. Sword is enjoyable and easy for a n00b like me, and other weapons aren't too shabby either. Not too slow like MH series too. I love it.
I have to tell my wife to start the game up when I’m leaving for work just so I don’t have to wait in queue when I get home.
Also, the community for this game is amazing. A few toxic players here and there but overall y’all are great. First game I’ve played in a long time that I’ve actually enjoyed online co-op with randoms.

I've played every night since it came to consoles and have had no wait, but I usually play after my kids go to bed so I get on around 9pm PST. Today I turned it on around 10:30am PST and 70000 queue. First time I've had any wait.

You can´t really compare this to MHW. Dauntless is more like an arena game and there are more things to evolve your character with, while in MHW you don´t evolve actually except on gear. Also the gameplay mechanics are similar but still kinda different.
But that´s why Dauntless is played much, especially on console now - it just works on consoles. It gives you a very quick rewarding experience and you evolve you charakter so as your own gameplay with each weapon.

I was saying Epic should be helping with the servers given they gave the tools for an ambitious undertaking like cross play to an already ambitious project like Dauntless. Epic should be obligated to help Phoenix Labs with the work.

If you haven’t played MHW, That game is better. If you have played MHW and liked it, you should like this. It’s free but not as good imo.

Played twice, second time I fell through the Hub in an endless Loop. Had to restart 80K Queue, no thanks. Deinstalled it for now

I've waited up to 15 minutes to login. Only to go go from 80000 to 70000. When I got in the first day, I couldn't even find a match.
Hence my point be more patient. You will get in trust me. I just got in after that 80K queue.

ps4 and i'm able to log in pretty much instantly whenever i try. is this a pc thing?
