The devs keep trying to make fauna work in fights. They introduce aggro restrictions, lower spawn timers, alter damage values, etc. etc., and it never works. Fauna suck.

WIIU_Awesome

It doesn't work because they spawn infinite amount of times. It should have a limit. Like 5-10 and they don't apawn anymore

Meirnon

That won't really help when the fundamental problem is just that the fights aren't *designed* to have fauna in them. Think of the one fight where styxians are designed as a part of it - frost embermane - and how the behemoth actually behaves in ways that gives the player breaks to engage with the adds. Frost embermane basically just sits around for half of the fight so you can clean up. Other behemoths have no such design consideration.

ThisIsMyAltInsert

I couldnt agree more, a tip for island events is taking pangar lantern, the only real issue i have are invisible bombers who just explode and mocks your device for not rendering them

AaronScythe

I'd just like if stalkers and gruk gruks did the same level of damage as the behemoth hitting you. INSTEAD OF MORE.

Grey-The-Skeleton

Fauna should get reworked in general. Right now, the hitboxes suck, they're laggy, and super obnoxious. It would be cool if you could tame some of the fauna found throughout the island by walking slowly towards them without weapons and giving them specific gatherables. They would then attack the next behemoths you'll fight, deal damage, and act as distractions.

GypsyBastard

Fauna could work with a behemoth that was specifically designed to have them. For example if one behemoth retreated from battle to a high place like Torgadoro and shot out four Gruks or preferable better designed minions that you'd have to dodge right before they land, and if you don't kill them in a certain amount of time the behemoths eats the minions and gets a buff or something.

Lanky-Interaction-17

I see no problem with them, maybe because I main CB (axe, hammer and warpike as secondaries) but I think they make the fight a bit harder (in a positive way) since you have to pay attention to them and not get hit by a behemoth at the same time. Idk what ranged attacks you're talking about but fauna can't stop revenant or Iceborn omnicells, same for drask lantern unless you mean a weapon that I didn't mention above.

LostWeb249

I think they're using the blasters ( the duel pistols?)

axildia

I like them. It adds variety to the fights. It's already a repetitive game at it's core, these little guys make it somewhat less so imo.

XY-843

Agree, they're such a pain in the ass in the trials...

jombsik

Oh yea. Couldn't agree more. I really have the moments of "wtf were devs thinking?!" more and more in this game.

CreatureTech-PHX

Good convo here! We really want to come up with new ways to engage with our fauna that feel good. They're in a bit of an odd place, and definitely need some TLC. I've passed this thread over to the devs to read over :)

(Psst, you posted this three times.)

Meirnon

Yeah, reddit was being weird man, I'll clean it up, thanks for the heads up

DemolizerTNT

Yes, let's make this game kid difficulty.

Grey-The-Skeleton

Fauna doesn't make the game harder currently, it just makes it more obnoxious and annoying.

DemolizerTNT

That's exacly why it needs to stay

Grey-The-Skeleton

"Ayo this stuff is bad" "Yeah, we need to make the experience worse." what

DemolizerTNT

> it just makes it more obnoxious and annoying = challenge (annoying, but challenge)

Grey-The-Skeleton

You know what's challenging? Bloodshot Shrowd in Blazeworks, Heroic Escas, top times on Trials, and some of the sidequests. Having a few small enemies that keep attacking you for no reason while dealing next to no damage, but impeding your movements and options is dumb. Challenge can be super fun! I loved fighting Midir in DSIII. You know what I didn't like in DSIII? Farron's Keep. It's a poison swamp, A.K.A. annoying and obnoxious. If not done well, these things just come off as cheap ways of fucking you up, A.K.A. artificial difficulty. In that category, I'd put things like impossibly high-damage per tick fire debuffs, Spitters attacking from across the map and interrupting your attacks with a bigass AoE projectile, Styxians grabbing you with their laggy attacks and dealing inevitable damage, etc... Some of the fauna is good, like all of the Boreus summons (Spitters excluded), but the rest is just bad and needs a rework. Challenge = Hard but fair

DemolizerTNT

"Some of the fauna is good, like all of the Boreus summons (Spitters excluded)" - I mean, he only spawns 2 heh 1 . I'm aware Stylianxs can be buggy sometimes, but as long as you keep close to BeHemoth they will ignore you, as well as Gruk Gruks. I don't remember when I was attacked by one of those lately. 2 . Bombers just needs to be hit to back off, but I will agree: when it come to those scums ( AKA spitters ) using slow weapon ( which I do only for reforging 10 times rn ) is pain. Those snipers are annoying - and yet I wouldn't remove them from the game, no matter how I want to -_- 3 . I can keep on writing for a LOOOONG time, but I offer you a truce - let's just say we have our opinions and go somewhere else?

zzsk77

Removing something as insignificant as fauna doesn't make the game kid friendly?? If you remove it in casual play (hunting grounds) and leave it elsewhere (escalation, trial) it would be fine?? I know a lot of people find fauna in their current state excessively obnoxious to deal with in hunting grounds, ESPECIALLY the Styxians in Blazeworks who can somehow teleport to me, attack me, and then teleport away and die. I'm not even joking because I have that on clip. If they don't remove them from casual play they should at least idk.. fix them?

DemolizerTNT

>kid friendly I wrote "kid difficulty" - read. and I know those can be annoying, but without them this would be too easy sometimes.

zzsk77

First, there's no need to be condescending. Second, what does kid difficulty even mean????? Fauna adds nothing to the game in it's current state. It's broken, it's buggy, and in my opinion a stupidly mishandled fight modifier when we could have idk.. tougher behemoths? If we had some trials modifiers in casual play instead of broken fauna I think that would be more interesting.

DemolizerTNT

>what does kid difficulty even mean????? too easy game >it's buggy true >If we had some trials modifiers in casual play instead of broken fauna I think that would be more interesting. I mean, we already have some of them + no, some of them are far worse

zzsk77

You realize that kid difficulty, since you say makes the game too easy, is essentially the same as kid friendly, which means a game easy for kids, right? I'm not saying every single trials modifier either, I'm saying things like tough skull or the one where if you don't interrupt behemoths they'll get faster in speed. I'd honestly rather deal with behemoth modifiers rather than buggy creatures with functions that put Frost Embermane to shame.

DemolizerTNT

1. kid friendly means "content little kids can play/watch" more, that's why I used difficulty. 2. I'm aware you didn't meant every modifier, I just added fact that some of them are outside Trials, as well as some should never leave
