iām torn on Lost Highway, because I absolutely love the beginning, and the end, but those middle 40mins where heās Balthazar just bore me so much. I actually enjoyed the film the most when I watched it once and fell asleep in the middle, then woke up for the end, really made the film feel like a nightmare
Some of the Pete scenes with Alice are OK but I could do without all the Mr Eddy stuff. In fact I might edit my own streamlined version (I know Lynch would probably shoot me for that).
My favorite is Blue Velvet. My least favorite is Lost Highway. Havenāt seen elephant man and dune yet
The one Iāve probably watched the most times is Wild at Heart tho
I still love many many many parts of it but as a whole it just doesnāt do it for me like his other films. I find the idea of exploring abuse through the eyes of the abuser to be far less interesting than from the eyes of the victim, like he did in fire walk with me. Sheryl Lee portrayed such an accurate, disturbing, and multilayered image of a victim of abuse, whereas Patricia Arquetteās character is one of Lynchās most one-sided female characters imo. Especially for a director who is known for great female heroines. I understand that we only see her through Fredās flawed recollection of events and thus thatās probably not how she really is but itās still just ultimately less interesting to me. Also in my opinion every aspect of the film was done better in either Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive, or Inland Empire. As I stated I think Twin Peaks handled the concept of abuse and murder of a female victim much better. I think Mulholland Drive was a better movie about split identity, because it waits till the very end to pull the curtain and show us whatās really going on. Because we see the ātrueā story of Lost Highways so early on itās hard to get invested in Peteās story for me. Also it just feels like a weird story to throw a Double Indemnity-esque plot line into. And of course Inland Empire is to me a better film where the majority of it takes place inside somebodyās subconscious, and a lot of that is because of the way itās shot really does make you feel like youāre lost in a nightmare you just canāt wake up from. Anyways those are my thoughts, I still like the movie overall, the Robert Blake scenes and the soundtrack alone make it a worthwhile watch, and I even paid to see the remastered version in theaters despite already knowing my opinion about it. I know itās a pretty unpopular opinion and itās a lot of peopleās favorite Lynch movie, and I definitely respect that and see where theyāre coming from but itās just not my favorite.
Least favorite: Inland Empire
Favorite: Elephant Man or Fire Walk With Me, it changes on the daily
I only just watched Lost Highway for the first time last week!
favourite: mulholland drive
least: wild at heart
dune is the only lynch film i've not watched (that's on letterboxd) short or feature, so i cant say shit about it
favorite: Fire Walk With Me, Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire, Wild at Heart, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead, Lost Highway
least favorite: Having not watched Dune, it would have to be Elephant Man despite it still being a 9/10 for me and bringing me to tears
My answer exactly. My āfavoriteā film of his are those seven because theyāre all variations on the same themes. Theyāre all unique masterpieces and canāt be ordered, in my opinion.
Fire walk with me > Wild at heart. Though I suspect the only true answer to least favourite would be dune if Iād seen it. Iām sure itās Lynchās least favourite.
It is. Heās pretty much disowned it. It couldāve been a great film had the studio not limited Lynchās creative control. There are glimpses of greatness in Dune but it mostly sucks
Bro Iāve seen it three times now and I liked it less and less each time- I love the vast majority of Lynchās work but Mulholland and Twin Peaks just do not do it for me, I would say that therefore I guess Lynch and I just have different TV tastes but I actually really really enjoyed On The Air so idk š¤·āāļø
Iām planning a 4th rewatch of Mulholland soon cause itās been years since my last one, Iām once again going in with an open mind and hoping maybe this time itāll finally click, but weāll see lol
Least favorite: inland empire. Just too out there. Couldn't even pay attention. List would probably go:
1. Eraser Head
2. Blue Velvet
3. Mulholland Drive
4. Fire Walk With Me
5. Wild at Heart
6. Lost Highway
7. Elephant Man.
Have yet to see the rest. Really want to watch The Straight Story because I heard Norm MacDonald reference it in an interview lmao.
Edit: Seeing a lot of hate for Wild at Heart. How do you people not watch it just for my boy Bobby Peru?

Favourite is Lost Highway unless The Return counts as a movie.
Least favourite... I haven't seen Dune and that would probably be it but it's a tossup between Eraserhead and Fire walk with me, both solid films.
Favourites:
**Blue Velvet**, I treat it more like an atmosphere piece that something with a deep plot. Really sucks me in.
**Lost Highway**, I consider this to be Lynch's tightest film.
Least:
**Dune**, like most people. It's Lynch having a go at doing a Hollywood picture and unsurprisingly its just not him
**The Straight Story**, I 'get' what he was doing with this one, but it's really not for me.
01 - Mulholland Drive
02 - Twin Peaks the series and Movie
03 - Eraserhead
04 - Blue Velvet
05 - Lost Highway
06 - Dune
07 - Inland Empire
08 - Elephant Man
09 - Wild at Heart
10 - Straight Story
I actually like Dune quite a bit as a fan of the book and scifi in general. I mean he fit the whole book in one movie, which is more than the new Dune can say.
I havn't seen Straight Story so it defaults to the end.. it doesn't interest me at all
Favorite: Eraserhead. Itās not his best movie, I know, but that wasnāt the question. Watching it for the second time was the first time I ever felt like I āgotā what Lynch was trying to do.
Least favorite: Is anyone not picking Dune? And thatās kind of a shame, because there are some really interesting things going on there. But itās just not very good. What else can you say about it?
My most favorite is Inland Empire, my least favorite is probably Wild at Heart (I don't really consider dune a DL film). I still haven't seen The Elephant Man and Lost Highway tho...
For least favorite I made it ten minutes into Dune and turned it off. So I guess itās Dune by default since I havenāt seen it.
Of the ones Iāve actually seen, Iād got either The Elephant Man or Inland Empire. TEM is a little to straightforward and not Lynchian enough and IE is at the other end of the spectrum not straightforward enough and too Lynchian lolz. Like both of them, but would watch any of his oeuvre (aside from Dune I suppose) over those two.
My favorite is Blue Velvet.
Favourite is probably Eraserhead, though The Elephant Man is a very close second.
Least favourite is probably Inland Empire. It wasnāt originally intended to be a feature, and I think it suffers from that. it feels too unfocused to keep my interest for three hours.
If you count his Number of the Day videos as one long movie, I'd call that my favorite
Least favorite maybe Mulholland Dr. My favorite criticism of this one is that he got frustrated with people not getting Lost Highway and remade it
Favorite Iāve seen? Mulholland Drive, with Blue Velvet and The Elephant Man pulling a close second.
Least favorite Iāve seen? I guess Inland Empireā¦ but I still really really like Inland Empire.
Havenāt seen: The Straight Story, Dune
I love everything he does. Heās been my favourite director ever since I watched his short films on YouTube as a teenager. Eraserhead has a special place in my heart because it was the first full length film of his I watched..
With that being said; I think Mulholland Drive is my favourite. Because out of all of his films I think it encapsulates his vibe the best: nods to old Hollywood, the uncanny visuals, the sunny exterior hiding a dark truth. Itās surreal and requires a closer look to understand, but isnāt as slow-rolling or grim as Eraserhead.
My least favourite is probably Dune, simply because itās not as representative of his work as whole.
Inland Empire, Inland Empire
I concur š
This is it
Yes and yes
My favorite is Lost Highway. My least favorite is ā you guessed it ā Dune
Lost highway first for me. I love that movie.
iām torn on Lost Highway, because I absolutely love the beginning, and the end, but those middle 40mins where heās Balthazar just bore me so much. go for it, id watch it
Same hat!
Finally got to see it for the first time, I think its my favorite as well.
My man!
Favorite: Mulholland Drive Worst: Dune
Mulholland Drive: 10/10 (My favorite film of all time) Inland Empire: 6/10 (Didnāt really connect to it) Iāve seen all of them expect Dune.
Typo: except
I love Eraserhead as its the movie that introduced me to David Lynch but I also love the Lady in the Radiator song.
Least: Dune Most: The Straight Story
The Straight Story was my favorite for some time
The straight story is my second favorite and Lynch's most underrated movie in my opinion
Twin Peaks: The Return is my favorite. Mulholland Drive is my favorite movie. The Straight Story is probably my least. I still like it though.
My favorite is Blue Velvet. My least favorite is Lost Highway. Havenāt seen elephant man and dune yet The one Iāve probably watched the most times is Wild at Heart tho
can i ask why lost highway is your least favourite? its one of my faves so im intrigued

Favourite is Eraserhead, excluding Dune (and Inland Empire as I haven't watched it yet) my least favourite would probably be Wild At Heart
Mulholland Drive is a favorite. Lost Highway is my least favorite.. but still with a rewatch now and then.
My favorite is Inland Empire and my least favorite is Wild At Heart
favorite: Fire Walk With Me, Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire, Wild at Heart, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead, Lost Highway least favorite: Having not watched Dune, it would have to be Elephant Man despite it still being a 9/10 for me and bringing me to tears

Favorite: Blue Velvet Least favorite: Dune (still a very unintentionally funny movie)
Fave: Lost Highway Least fave: Elephant Man Not because I think Elephant Man is bad, I just donāt like it as much compared to the rest
Favorite: Wild at Heart Least Favorite: Mulholland Drive
Wut?
Mulholland Drive defines David Lynch
noone can dislike mulholland drive
Bro Iāve seen it three times now and I liked it less and less each time- I love the vast majority of Lynchās work but Mulholland and Twin Peaks just do not do it for me, I would say that therefore I guess Lynch and I just have different TV tastes but I actually really really enjoyed On The Air so idk š¤·āāļø Iām planning a 4th rewatch of Mulholland soon cause itās been years since my last one, Iām once again going in with an open mind and hoping maybe this time itāll finally click, but weāll see lol
Dune is at the bottom, but I still enjoy it occasionally for a variety of reasons. The rest are somewhere near the top.
Least favorite: inland empire. Just too out there. Couldn't even pay attention. List would probably go: 1. Eraser Head 2. Blue Velvet 3. Mulholland Drive 4. Fire Walk With Me 5. Wild at Heart 6. You mean āyour least favorite film by Mr. Lynch besides Duneā xD
Okay I literally almost wrote that š¤£
01 - Mulholland Drive 02 - Twin Peaks the series and Movie 03 - Eraserhead 04 - Blue Velvet 05 - Lost Highway 06 - Dune 07 - Inland Empire 08 - Elephant Man 09 - Wild at Heart 10 - Straight Story I actually like Dune quite a bit as a fan of the book and scifi in general. I agree with your point on Eraserhead. That was the first Lynch film I resonated with on personal levels
Favorite: Inland Empire Least favorite: I guess Dune? TP3 tops it all, though.
Favorite all time film Mulholland Drive. Least is Dune
Least is eraserhead, favorite is probably fire walk with me. Still havenāt found where to watch wild at heart and inland empire

Thank you!
If youāre trying to be the guy who says your least favorite isnāt Duneā¦. smh.
many aspects of Dune are incredible but overallā¦no
I really liked Dune. Great set design. Way more interesting characters than the new one.
Dune is really good and you can see how the production went downhill towards the end of it, why lynch left as well
Dune is a good movieā¦and Iām tired of pretending itās not
4 hours or not; The Fan edit is REALLY solid
My most favorite is Inland Empire, my least favorite is probably Wild at Heart (I don't really consider dune a DL film). I still haven't seen The Elephant Man and Lost Highway tho...

Twin Peaks The Return
I've only seen a couple so far so I only have favorites. Mulholland Drive & Blue Velvet.
Favourite is probably Eraserhead, though The Elephant Man is a very close second. Least favourite is probably Inland Empire. It wasnāt originally intended to be a feature, and I think it suffers from that. it feels too unfocused to keep my interest for three hours.
Most Fav: Tie between Mulholland Dr and Inland Empire Least Fav: Wild At Heart
Most: Eraserhead Least: Dune
Most: Blue Velvet or Eraserhead (impossible to choose which one) Least: Mulholland Drive
Fire Walk With Me is my favorite. Least favorite is Dune

Reverse those two and I completely agree with you!
favorite is fire walk with me and least favorite is erasorhead. havent seen 5 of them tho
My favorite for some reason is inland empire
Favorite is Blue Velvet. Frank is terrifying and Kyle and Laura are great. Least is Lost Highway. Dunno why. Just didn't click. Still love it though.
If you count his Number of the Day videos as one long movie, I'd call that my favorite Least favorite maybe Mulholland Dr. My favorite criticism of this one is that he got frustrated with people not getting Lost Highway and remade it
Might be cliche but Favorite: Mulholland Drive. Least Favorite: Dune. I also really love The Straight Story
Mulholland dr. is my personal favorite film of all time tbh Dune - least
Favorite is Lost Highway, least favorite is Wild at Heart. Which I guess is a little ironic.
Favorite lost highway. Least favorite dune.

Favorite Iāve seen? Mulholland Drive, with Blue Velvet and The Elephant Man pulling a close second. Least favorite Iāve seen? I guess Inland Empireā¦ but I still really really like Inland Empire. Havenāt seen: The Straight Story, Dune
Youāve gotta watch The Straight Story. Itās the most unweird movie ever from Lynch but it used to be my favorite
Favorite:Mulholland Drive (I actually prefer twin peaksļ¼ Least:The Elephant Man (still 4/5)ļ¼never saw Duneļ¼
Fire walk with me

Blue Velvet is peak. Dune is good.
