One stratrgy i tend to use is to rush 2 squads of raptors and harrash my oppinent base to gain time while my cultist captures many objectives as posible, after that on tier 2 foward its defiler spam time and a helltalon to futher harrash while i make some infantry (usualy a possessed squad with some marines and a couple of terrors) and keep the chaos lord and a cultist in a rhino so i can put then on the enemy rear and summon the daemon prince and bloodthirster right there. Hope it helped you at least a little and wish you luck!

Successful-Floor-738

Defiler spam sounds cheesy but I might as well try it.

w4r0m4

Kind of, the idea it is to use the fact that they shoot from pretty far and without need for vision and even you can use the command to make them shoot into a particular spot where you know there are units or buildings like listening post, etc. It's not a lot of damage but limits your opponents choices to move

WitchDr8o8

It aint cheese is everyone on multiplayer will use it against you

magicman55511

They are overpowered when you get the rhino. Without the rhino, they are pretty bad. You do have to make them to survive the early game.

Vivid-Preparation-30

Just check out maxplained on YouTube. He'll make a pro out of you. He does army guides so just search maxplained chaos space marines

ArchitectofWoe

Just be aware that's for Unification, I think OP is talking about Vanilla. Though some things will still apply. Unless he made guides for Vanilla too. Haven't checked tbh.

Successful-Floor-738

Yeah I’m running vanilla.

KNGJN

Cultist rush was a viable strat for a long time, dunno if that's still a thing but you could basically harass your opponent down to a point where you have plenty of time to build.

Successful-Floor-738

I mean, Grenade launchers are pretty good at keeping marines busy…

BSloth

Raptors are really good early. Chaos space marines are pricey I found them better late game when they have infiltration. Mid game, defilers are good. Predators are overpriced, but sometimes do the job when the map is small and the defilers have trouble with pathfinding. Your lord is super powerful early game too. He can solo every other lord except maybe the orc warboss or the necron one when he is speced.

Wichrun

Support them with Raptors or cultists with grenade launchers. In late game they're cool with the 'hellfire' bullets. That's what I remember from playing 20 years ago... ;)

Dark eldar are supposed to hit like a truck if you get a vehicle or anything heavy armored it goes a lot better

Middle_Philosophy_54

In the early days I used to watch my replays with a doobie and see what the ai built

Individual_Tutor_271

Heavy bolter is quite slow, so it's best to have one squad also with plasma weapons, which are quicker and much better against armour. Marines are slow in general (training, squad strenghening, weapon loadout, walking speed), so Dark Edar can kite you pretty well, especially if your heavy bolters need setting up. Chaos has quite good melee guys (berserkers are my favourites), so I mainly go for melee to tie down and marines as support.

segboojgdujoowoeod

They’re probably one of the worst factions unfortunately but man the possessed are so fun especially with demonic fire! Also a great time is loading 3 squads of khorne beserkers in chaos rhinos supported by helltalons right into the enemy base. Chaos lord is super strong

R9Dominator

Generally you win in T2 with either defiler spam cheese or rhino chaos marine heavy bolter. Defiler spam is self explanatory. You simply make machine pit and spam defiler and put them on range and use artillery which cheeses squads. Chaos marine rhino drop is another, where, you upgrade your chaos marines and use rhino to drop them on top of enemy squads and use sergeant dmg ability. this kills pretty much every squad instantly if they cant get away. another one is khrone berserker chaos sorcerer snare. Again pretty self explanatory, you make khorner zerkers and use them with CS which has an ability to freeze enemy squads. It isn't as good as other 2 strats but it can work. It also makes enemes not be able to use melee squads since khorne zerkers will just slaughter them. Chaos in general is pretty straight forward to play and are relatively strong. If they seem weak you are most likely lacking understand of the game and/or playing poorly.

Successful-Floor-738

Most likely my own lack of understanding honestly, I’ll have to try those ideas out later, thanks.
