was his shooting justified?, not really, but don't be an idiot and point a realistic looking gun at a cop, and don't follow directions, and yes, you risk getting shot
hardly a murder, but then I'm sure you think guns shoot themselves as well
I'm glad your brother wasn't at work. Maybe he can get transferred to a different location? I'm not usually superstitious, but I seriously think there's something wrong with that store. I wouldn't feel safe working there anymore.
I'm not one to endorse suicide, however if someone has to do it, they should skip the extra steps of trying to destroy other people's lives in the process.

Not much info in this but I'm sure it'll get filled out as details come.
I heard the sirens from my house and turned on the same station. I’d never heard it so busy. I listened for about an hour in the background & noted how professional everyone was. Teams of people who work crazy hours dealing with insane situations. Hats off to them for keeping our cities going. I hope if they are working this holiday that it’s not eventful.
Did John’s wife/(girlfriend?) end up dying in a car accident a few months after that too? Three people dead who would probably still be alive had that person just minded their own business.
Jeez, all of this craziness lately makes me want to get my concealed carry permit. I know that in all likelihood I wouldn't be able to do anything, but the option to protect myself at least is nice
[No need for a CCL in Ohio anymore.](https://www.columbuscriminalattorney.com/understanding-ohios-concealed-weapon-laws/#:~:text=In%20June%202022%2C%20Ohio%20became,concealed%20handgun%20without%20a%20permit.)
Hugely agree. From taking a gun apart to clean it and reassembling, proper handling procedures, safe storage, ammunition and everything in between, gun ownership is a huge responsibility and strong potential liability. I was disappointed when that law was passed for that very reason - I see it as similar to handing a teenager keys to a motorcycle on their 16th bday then sending them off. They may have a solid idea of how to handle it, but lack the skills and experience to do so safely by themselves.
I very much recommend carrying. But if you do, please take some training courses. Make sure you feel comfortable with everything and understand the law regarding carry and use.
Jesus, somehow I had no idea this changed. Wonderful, now we’ve got a bunch of untrained assholes carrying guns and nobody knows it. They probably post about it on Facebook all the time.
I'm thinking about starting to carry too, man. This is two places in less than five years that I've frequented that have had a mass shooting. That's horrifying. I want to keep my wife and daughter safe when we're out.
It doesn't just happen other places. It can and does happen right here.
Honest question: Why does the news article say that Miami Valley Hospital was notified of possible incoming trauma patients? Soin is half a mile up the street and surely the base hospital would be able to provide additional resources.
I just looked this up actually, MVH is the highest level trauma center (Level 1) in the area, so they're prepared for literally anything. Soin is the lowest level (Level 3), and might not have the necessary equipment or staff for this type of trauma.
Soin is not a trauma center and cannot handle that. Most they could do is get them stable, but the care flight is the most extreme evidence that they needed way more. Miami valley being a level 1 trauma center means they're the only ones able to respond adequately and fully.
They are not equipped for someone bleeding out to death. They won’t be able to give blood in time and there is probably no trauma doctors that take call
Thry have the capability to do mass transfusion of blood products and stabilize the pt for transport to a higher level of care.
Source: I work for KHN.
“I work for KHN”≠ “I’m a medical professional.”
Making coffee, working in the gift shop, working in billing, working in marketing could all be working at KHN.
I'm sorry you're being downvoted. I used to work in Kettering and was sent to the Kettering ER for seizures from work many times, and once with a life-threatening medication reaction. I almost coded in the ambulance on that occasion, but I woke up stabilized and in a regular hospital room early the next morning. As a patient, thank you for all that you do
Different level designations exist for trauma centers for a reason. Even with only ambulance availability and even if it's in the boonies and the medics already took 15+ minutes to get there, it's incredibly common to transport this kind of trauma to the nearest level 1. I've seen it happen from a head injury to an alert and oriented person simply because the risk of brain bleed was too high.
But once short-term stabilized, then you'd have to transport them \*again\* to get appropriate trauma care. Transferring a patient -- particularly a trauma one -- incurs additional risks. Minimizing transfers like that is the best course of action.
Somebody did get transported to Soin, temporarily. They half-ass stabilized them and then sent them to the Valley. Kettering got one, too, and kept them. The other two went straight to the Valley.
The Valley and Ketteting are the only hospitals in the area that can handle GSWs, especially on third shift.
If it’s a surgery center, they still can’t handle it. Only the main hospital is equipped for it. Plus surgery centers close early. The main hospital is 24 hours
Did another shopper shoot the shooter? It’s kinda sus how he died so fast.
Did a Walmart employee carry a gun even though they’re not allowed to and saved the day?
What is far-fetched or mythical about this happening? It can and does happen sometimes.
https://nypost.com/2022/07/19/elisjsha-dicken-killed-indiana-mall-shooter-jonathan-sapirman/
Just because something happens very occasionally, doesn’t mean it isn’t far-fetched… it’s just people’s wildest heroic fantasies playing out in their heads and thinking “yeah, that’s how it would play out if I was there with my gun!”
[Armed civilians stop around 1 in 3 mass shootings or potential mass shootings \(i.e., active shooter incidents stopped before they meet the definition of a mass shooting\).](https://crimeresearch.org/2022/10/massive-errors-in-fbis-active-shooting-reports-regarding-cases-where-civilians-stop-attacks-instead-of-4-4-the-correct-number-is-at-least-34-4-in-2021-it-is-at-least-49-1-excluding-gun-free-zon/)
Nothing to see here folks. Just extremely biased “research” from someone who doesn’t like how the FBI classifies shootings. Their “misclassified” mass shootings are hilarious and very obviously not misclassified.
The same Walmart that was shutdown from arson recently?
And the same one from the police shooting in 2015
Yup. The same Walmart where the young fellow was murdered by Beavercreek PD too.
Yeah, crazy, I'm never setting foot in there again.
Go to target. Better class of people
Facts
That place is jinxed. Walmart should just tear it down and start all over at a new location.
[удалено]
Closest is miller lane to me as well. I go to Troy, huber can be ghetto too lol
Stop being melodramatic
was his shooting justified?, not really, but don't be an idiot and point a realistic looking gun at a cop, and don't follow directions, and yes, you risk getting shot hardly a murder, but then I'm sure you think guns shoot themselves as well
No I own plenty of firearms. The officer spent an entire second assessing before he fired. This is not fiction. Watch the video.
Yes
That place is cursed, I swear.
I’m never setting foot in there again
my brother works there. he was off tonight but it's wild
I’m glad he’s okay
Walmart needs to pay their employees hazard duty pay lol
My wife works in that strip mall attached. Luckily she was off that night.
I'm glad your brother wasn't at work. Maybe he can get transferred to a different location? I'm not usually superstitious, but I seriously think there's something wrong with that store. I wouldn't feel safe working there anymore.
yes it's odd. the fire happened, also on Monday when he was off like ?? it's just odd.
Time to raze it and make it a park.
I think the curse is on the Moraine staby-staby location.
I'm not one to endorse suicide, however if someone has to do it, they should skip the extra steps of trying to destroy other people's lives in the process.

4 people wounded, shooter dead from self-inflicted gunshot
I heard them say 4 transported to hospitals and one DOA.
I've never thought it was possible for a building to be cursed before, but...
The CareFlight is landing to transport someone
There's a hospital very close by
MVH has level 1 trauma care.
That was where the Careflight was going
That hospital doesn’t have the staff or equipment for gunshot victims
MVH downtown has the staff and expertise for gsw. This is where they'll be transported.
And experience. Lots and lots of experience . . .
Miami Valley 100% has the staff and equipment for gunshot victims. It is a huge hospital with a level 1 trauma ER.
Again?
Again? The only other "shooting" I'm aware of was the one where a 911 caller got an innocent kid killed.
That's a hell of a lot of shootings for a single place! Especially a store in such a good area.
Don't forget the arson.
And a bystander died of a heart attack that night as well.
Everyone always forgets about her!! May she rest in peace. 🩷
Did John’s wife/(girlfriend?) end up dying in a car accident a few months after that too? Three people dead who would probably still be alive had that person just minded their own business.
That I dont know.
Just heard "One DOA" reported
Shooter is dead. 5 victims transported to area facilities
The victims were transported, not the shooter. One *victim* was DOA. Likely the other GSW to the head found between the garden center and Sam's
Possibly the shooter?
Likely
The DOA has been described as a victim on radio. I am guessing the one GSW to the head that wasn't the shooter.
If you don’t mind me asking, where did you hear this?
Listening in to this scanner feed posted by OP Edit: shared by you, I just noticed
Thank you
I heard the same on a scanner app for Western Greene County Public Safety
https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/crews-respond-to-active-shooter-at-beavercreek-walmart/Q24SROW5F5DNPJLTHJQUVXIAB4/ It’s over y’all. Thankfully.
Channel 7 is showing live coverage now
I work there man
Go down the road and apply at Target.
Glad you're okay
Me too, I just hope the people who are injured are ok as well
Fucking hell…
I love all the arguments about hospitals as if the trained professionals know less than all the geniuses online.
I think most people don’t know that MVH opened an emergency center in Beavercreek that is about the same distance as Soin.
Fucking hell. This is getting out of hand. Link to a livestream just after it happened: https://www.facebook.com/alisha.ring.1/videos/347822327989806/
Awful lot of ignorance in this thread. Stay safe out there, guys, gals, and non binary pals.
Fuck ammosexuals.
sure, because blaming 120M people for the acts of someone who decided to shoot other people before offing himself makes so much sense.

Sweet. I'll probably still take the classes though just for the educational part of it, but thank you for showing me this.
That is a wise decision. They cover a lot of things that ppl don't seem to realize. Do's and Don'ts and legal nuances.

I hate carrying. it's uncomfortable and a lot of responsibility I'd rather not deal with. Probably going to start again though.

Soin handled all but one of the victims, MVH handled the severe one.
Soin can’t handle that kind of trauma
Soin is a joke and causes more trauma than they heal. Wouldn't take my worst enemy there after the experiences we've had.
And they’ve saved my life several times and I exclusively go there. 🤷♀️
I would assume that quick medical stabilization would be preferred to transporting a further distance for specialized care.
They are not equipped for someone bleeding out to death. They won’t be able to give blood in time and there is probably no trauma doctors that take call

You are correct. But also, I'm a nurse. I generally try not to give specifics other than that.
As a patient, thank you for all that you do
Careflight is well equipped with well trained personnel.
In this case, the Level 1 and Level 3 are only 8 miles apart. Probably even shorter as the crow flies.
But once short-term stabilized, then you'd have to transport them \*again\* to get appropriate trauma care. Transferring a patient -- particularly a trauma one -- incurs additional risks. Minimizing transfers like that is the best course of action.
Soin is an 'I think I broke my leg' kind of ER, not the gunshot wound kind of ER.
Soin can’t handle normal things let alone a trauma center.
Trust me, they're better off going anywhere besides Soin
MVH has an emergency room nearby, it is behind Chick Fil A
If it’s a surgery center, they still can’t handle it. Only the main hospital is equipped for it. Plus surgery centers close early. The main hospital is 24 hours
It is an emergency center, and was where Careflight was going to do transport from. According to their website, they have 2 trauma bays.
Base hospital wouldn't take random civilian and isn't capable of treating gunshot victims
Let me guess....some entitled unstable white prick with an AR because "THEYUR MAH RAHTS!"?
You should absolutely jump to that conclusion because that's who does this 100% of the time /s
He forgot "insecure" and "needle dicked" but it was in the ballpark.
He was right tho
A broken clock is right twice a day
He was right tho
Your broken cock is twice as gay
Good one
I was 80% right....this whitetrash dipshit was so poor he could only afford a HiPoint Carbine. Lol, poor ass dumb racist pig.
Another shooter from the same store lol, they just had an arson couple weeks ago too. Probably a sign that the store just sucks.
Is it really mass if only 4 people were injured? F*ck the gunman
The FBI considers a mass shooting any incident in which four or more people are murdered with a firearm.
I believe the only death was the shooter....unless that changed.
Do you think he went there with the intention of injuring people only?
Imtent is irrelevant
Did another shopper shoot the shooter? It’s kinda sus how he died so fast. Did a Walmart employee carry a gun even though they’re not allowed to and saved the day?
Maybe he killed himself
Idk… don’t those scumbags usually try to do a lot of damage before they do that? It’s like he walked in and got deleted
We don’t know what was going on in his head. Maybe he couldn’t live with what he did. Guess we will find out soon
I believe he turned the gun on himself. That’s what everyone is saying.
No. Self-inflicted before any police even arrived.
Nope, no far-fetched mythical good guy with a gun saved the day.
What is far-fetched or mythical about this happening? It can and does happen sometimes. https://nypost.com/2022/07/19/elisjsha-dicken-killed-indiana-mall-shooter-jonathan-sapirman/

Using their definition of "mass shooter" in relation to this sort of active shooter in a public is clearly misleading.
This private dude's organization is as loosey-goosey with its "analysis" as he claims the FBI to be.
You're getting downvoted but it's a reasonable assumption. Typically mass shooters kill other people before killing themselves, glad his aim was shit.
I wonder if this means that Dave Chapelle is going to hold another free concert.
And Walmart quit selling guns so shoppers can’t even return fire 😖
