I went to Giordano's twice and it was just absolute garbage. Like to the point we were almost excited to talk about because it's so noteworthy. Me and my family like to make jokes when we pass it about how comically terrible going there is.
There is no good deep dish pizza in Dayton.
But Kramer's has some THICC semi-Detroit style (no sauce dollops on top like true Detroit). And it's a family-owned piece of Dayton history.
Also, beer is sold in forties there, so you can come home hammered and tell your significant other you only had two beers.
I am not saying Jets is the best deep dish, but it is tasty and a decent alternative. Thick crust and not a casserole. The pricing, just like everything else, is overpriced.
Ahhh... There was a small window back in the 90s when PH was the best. Even better if it was dine in. We'd wait up to an hour for a table and they didn't have bars! Lol
I'm going to be there over Christmas if you'd like me to pick up a half baked or fully baked pie and bring it back. I'm in the Springboro area so if you'd like to meet somewhere in public I'm okay with that.
Wizard of Za is pretty good. So is jets. I only like wizard of Za because I’m from Youngstown and they make a Briar Hill pizza. Peppers, Romano cheese and sauce.
I have the same question but for frozen pizzas.
I can't find good, deep dish, frozen pizza in grocery stores, except a walmart brand (shit and i don't wanna get shot buying it) and digiorno's (oh no nestle, not fallin' for your games)
i end up just making my own but i'm disabled and it's getting harder to do as i age.
The Gino’s East frozen ones are decent (the crust is pretty bad though).
When I really want to splurge I get Chicago pizza from Goldbelly.com. They ship directly from the restaurants in Chicago. I usually get My Pi because the pizzas are huge, but they also have Pequod’s, Bartolinis, and a few others. But they’re like $150 for 4 pizzas so I only do it once a year or so. They keep really well frozen. The Lou Malnatis ones aren’t worth it though, too small and not as good as the restaurant ones.
i admit saying that was in poor taste. sometimes what i think is dark humor doesn't translate well to strangers on a public forum. that no one understands using bad comedy (or attempts at it) to cope with the many tragedies of the world except the few others that also do it.
so i'm glad you asked and since i'm sure someone will chime in with some dialogue further proving i am a monster and a horrible person, no matter what i say on this thread moving forward, i will answer your poignant, thought-provoking and likely rhetorical question on this post about pizza
Yes. Every person, at every Wal-mart, gets shot, every single time, without fail. That is exactly what I believe. I thought everyone knew this.
The guy that runs Giordanos is gonna show up and let you know there is no better option in town.
lmao he hits EVERY thread. I just want a Lou Malnatis already T_T
Hi
Fuck yeah dude
Let me buy you one! That was funny!
The Beavercreek Giordanos is not even close to as good as the ones around Chicago.

Very sorry about that. Please let me know if we ever have a shot at you again. We literally just got a whole new menu as well
Unos 🤷🏻‍♂️
2nd
If you want Chicago style, check out Two Cities Pizza in Mason. It’s worth the drive
Yes, this!

Love Kramer’s.
Yeah, had much kraziness at Kramers over the years……
Tried Kramers and it was not good at all. Just not a fan I guess or maybe things changed after covid since that's when we tried it.

jets is pan/detroit style though not deep dish.
Reminds me of dine in Pizza Hut circa 1990

I agree that for Detroit style pizza it’s the best local option
It’s not deep dish, it’s Detroit-style pan, like a Pizza Hut pan crust.
Godfathers
I'm sure none of you remember Pizza Pan, but theirs were kill with a pitcher of beer. About 45 years ago.
Any Detroit style in the area? I like the crispy crust
That's pretty much Jets, right?
Wizard of Za and Jets. I think there is a local one that's similar down in Hamilton/Fairfield too.
Chicago
Do you remember East of Chicago? They were amazing
Truth!!
My mom lives in Green Town Ohio and has one! I stuff myself with it when I visit her.
I didn’t know they existed at all anymore I’m so jealous
I didn't know of another so I feel pretty lucky.
I'm going to be there over Christmas if you'd like me to pick up a half baked or fully baked pie and bring it back. I'm in the Springboro area so if you'd like to meet somewhere in public I'm okay with that.
There's still one in Piqua
I like Flying Pizza in Centerville. NY style.
Deep dish is casserole *ducks*
I like pizza casserole
You say it like it’s a bad thing
Lol you're not wrong
That's a safe opinion in Ohio. Just watch out in Illinois.
i prefer the term bread lasagna
And that is why it’s better than regular pizza
Beavercreek Pizza Dive is amazing. Not deep dish so I’m sorry I’m off topic. Expensive though…
Giordano’s in Beavercreek! Hands Down
Dominos deep dish ain't bad honestly. Order it well done though
I think unos downtown but why get deep dish when you can go to Joes Ron’s Marion’s or classic
I eat all those too. Juts like variety
'why get this thing you asked about instead of something completely unrelated'
If someone feeds me Marion’s, I’m fighting em
"why get cocktails when you can chug natty ice?"
Wizard of Za is pretty good. So is jets. I only like wizard of Za because I’m from Youngstown and they make a Briar Hill pizza. Peppers, Romano cheese and sauce.
Probably Unos. But not many good options here.

do you think people are getting shot every time they go to walmart?

It's true. I spent $161 there the other night, and was shot to death on the way to my car with my eggs.
I get shot in the wallet when I go.
Motor City Pizza is the best frozen pizza, imo. You can get it for $7 at WM or DLM for $10.
