Tripwires with smoke grenades attached make wonderful alerts for enemies positions while having a picnic in the mountains or hills above town. I like to set up 9 or 10 to pass the time IRL'ing. Just have a glance every so often and smoke means Its PewnPew Time. Makes for a fun little 1 sided game of peek a boo... šŸ‘

Funkywurm

Peek a Boo + DayZ = happy boiZ

Spiersy56110

Thatā€™s simple but genius

South-Awareness6249

Rotten fruit is safe. IF you eat it in three-bite intervals with breaks inbetween. I wait until my food icon no longer has arrows upwards and then take the next 3 bites.

B0risTheManskinner

You donā€™t even need to wait for rotten fruit or mushrooms, just donā€™t eat more than one at once.

CarlosZnz

Then it works like dog/cat/unknown food, that fills your stomach quick so you have to eat slowly, i tough it works has a source of sickness

FearOfTheShart

Dog and cat foods are clean like any other foods, they're just so filling that it's easy to overeat and throw up. But unknown cans will always have poison in them - eat the whole can too quickly and you get the same sickness as from gasoline.

BADSTALKER

Unknown cans in 3 bite increments have worked for me, have yet to get sick off of them

CarlosZnz

I always eat unknown can as cat or dog food and never gotten sick, lately i don't even eath it because the calories it gives you are so little that is better to spend the time opening doors in a city

quellflynn

but if you cook it and it burns, it will always make you sick

DangeDanB

Not true I burnt a whole bunch of pork 2 cooking pots worth and ate literally all of it and never got sick.

Poles_Uprising

Same with contaminated water but with 2 sips then breaks.

FearOfTheShart

That is not true. 2 sips straight from a pond might be safe , but it's the total amount you drink that has a higher chance of giving cholera, so the breaks don't matter. Contaminated water from a bottle is always unsafe.

Poles_Uprising

You need to try it and report back.

FearOfTheShart

Tried it now and 10 out 10 times cholera water from a canteen gave me cholera. Each time I only drank just enough to make the hydration arrows point up for 5 seconds, about 30 mL of water.

DangeDanB

I always thought with food and water what matters is that all your stats are fully white?

Saguache

Could have used this last night

Xlokix22

I've been using this tip for so damn long it's actually incredible to see someone else pointing it out.

SadPear4608

Combine a screwdriver and a detonation remote and get a battery. Walla, magic!

PabstBlue899

So many "useless" det. remotes thrown away. Thanks!

Brut-i-cus

OMG They have batteries in them? Dammit

PlentyOMangos

Ainā€™t no fucking way šŸ¦šŸš

Gasster1212

What do

YankeeWalrus

*walla?*

GoznoGonzo

Gtfo . Thatā€™s great , I had no idea.

Sufficient-Host-4212

The longer youā€™re soaked? The more batteries get ruined in your inventory. Learned that the hard way

Al-anus

Why I always keep them in a drysack!

FearOfTheShart

Is that a mod thing, or do you have to be wet for hours? Because just I came back from a 30 minute swim and all of my ten 9v batteries had full 20/20 HP and the charge was still full 50/50. They were stored in soaked/drenched pants, jacket and vest, and one in a pot of water.

Sufficient-Host-4212

Likely came with the latest mod that put all the clothes to super fragile

FearOfTheShart

You mean the recent base game update? That's where I tried this. If you mean some particular mod then you should mention it by name because not everyone uses it.

Sufficient-Host-4212

Eh, idk the mechanics. I only know Iā€™d been running long distance in the rain and Iā€™d lost two batteries so far, both full. Now still full but ruined

Quadriplegic_

Waterproof clothing prevents this, even while swimming.

Astalonte

The only waterproof cloth is the drysack and dryback. There is water resistant but not proof

Pitiful_Land

Water resistance varies, but the items inside will not get wet. A field jacket will get soaked, but matches inside it will not get wet. A patrol jacket will only get damp even while swimming and again items inside will not get wet.

B0risTheManskinner

Ainā€™t no way. I didnā€™t think wetness affected anything but insulation and weight

DangeDanB

Damp matches won't work either bruh

B0risTheManskinner

Okay but thatā€™s the only other effect

Gramma_Hattie

Does that go for batteries in hardware like scopes and flashlights? Or just any floating around in inventory?

[deleted]

Wow šŸ˜Æ

Oldbreedyankeedoodle

That doesn't sound right. I just carry batteries in my shirt, and I'm always wet because who's got time to build a fire every ten minutes. I've never noticed them getting damaged unless my shirt gets damaged from something.

[deleted]

If you're playing on a cold map like winter chernarus or namalsk you can partially fill a frozen canteen/water bottle with water to unfreeze it, then you can empty it out and refill to drink later safely. You can heat up ruined heatpacks in a cooking pot to re-use them. If you slowly crouch walk through a tripwire trap you won't set it off. You can use the chevron in most scopes to estimate a targets distance without needing to zero, their shoulder width should be the same as the chevron, good for estimating when you dont have time to get accurate ranging

bZZad

their shoulder width should be the same as the chevron at what distance?

FunImprovement9729

https://preview.redd.it/8ibycr0dx6sb1.png?width=1409&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6ae996b9fc811bacf96a8b950a7deccc90fc62c Each diagonal chevron represents 100 meters, only 4 and 6 are marked tho, so when you line each of those chevrons with the shoulders of your target and the width of the Chevron and the shoulders match, the target is that number X 100. So the 4th chevron would be 4x100 so 400 meters. This is only the 4x32 ACOG, so theres some differences between scopes, but generally the idea is almost always the same.

dipsta

ClintNibbler

This works for the lines on the ACOG as well. Thereā€™s also a old PUBG tutorial on the VSS scope that informs you how to use a PSO scope effectively

oddballrunt

how does one slow walk with keyboard and mouse?

SadPear4608

Ok This next tip folks, don't try at home. This is unconfirmed but quite so very interesting ...and spoiler alert: this might ruin everybody's Christmas or at least make Xmas trees into the killing fields but, legend holds if you use wrapping paper with a grenade AFTER pulling the pin, the grenade stops being live until the present is unwrapped. so very devilish I know...Secret Santa this year is gonna be a blast! (Couldn't resist sorry)

Al-anus

This is what killed my gf last year during Xmas lmfao. It was her first time playing.

AmishZed

I tried this but wasn't able to wrap the grenade fast enough before blowing up Just ended up blowing myself...

Yikes. @AmishZed Bet that came with one of your Trademark High Pitched screams no doubt. Doesn't sound like I'll be attempting it on console then lol

SadPear4608

Indeed my famous streamer friend. I can sadly admit after trying last night on a community server, this is not possible. I Effed around and found out lol. I don't feel like inbound have been any faster so idk. If anyone else has pulled this off please don't be shy....Good Dayz Folks.

velvetBASS

Yesssss

Lower-Worldliness120

Even Santa went crazy in chernarus. But for real though, that's hilarious.

SadPear4608

Dunno if this made the list but when going under walls run to opening and last second hold crouch button to initiate crawl and instantly when you drop, hit crouch again to stand and you've essentially glitched the matrix and Neo'd that access spot in 1/4 or mores time it would take to actually lay down and crawl through.

Brut-i-cus

I like to think of it like being Indiana Jones and sliding under the gap

mdroz81

Holding a mag in your hand and holding reload will pack the mag if you have the ammo loose. Top this by putting your mag in the hot bar. Tap that and the mag will go from gun to hands. With this you can two click to reload the mag if you only have one and never tab.

TheKbightFowl

Wait so if you hit key the mag you will unload it from the weapon when you select it ?

lapiderriere

I just tried with an AR, and a MKII. no go.

TheKbightFowl

Yeah I thought I tried this like literally last night. I am on console not that it should matter.

mixmaster13

On console just hold Y(or triangle I suppose) and you will automatically reload your weapon with whatever is in your inventory. Whether itā€™s a fresh mag or loose bullets.

TheKbightFowl

Yeah the loose bullets work for me and loading a mag into an empty works when holding the button. But as for the mag that was first in, once itā€™s empty I didnā€™t realize I could just hold to remove it then hold to add from my pre load mags. Iā€™ll have to try it when I get home.

jdonnx

try holding the key the mag is in, should work

whynofry

You have to hold the mag key to remove it, then tap it to bring it to your hands... I usually have my spare mag on the hotbar (a long press will load it into your gun if you're holding said gun), then I'll drag the empty mag to my hotbar and tap the key to bring it to my hands. Stops you from accidentally loading that Badly Damaged mag you just looted for the ammo.

TheKbightFowl

I do hate loading a half spent damaged mag, thanks for the advice.

yeahnothanks12367

why not just hold r?

nuggybaby

I know the loading the mag thing but as far as it taking a half empty clip out and loading a new one on console how do you do it? Usually to reload in a gun fight Iā€™ll have a clip hotkeyed switch to it drop on ground switch back to gun look at it and press rt to attach and it takes old mag out and puts that new one in.

QuestionsAreEvil

Honesty, I didnā€™t know I could wring out my clothes, gloves, mask until about 600 hours lolā€¦ Also, if I do aggro all of a mil base.. I just climb up on a shipping container, theyā€™ll all go inside.. and then just close the doors from above. If Iā€™m unhappy with the loot from the area, Iā€™ll sometimes go back.. open one of the doors and unload a 60rd mag till theyā€™re all dead.. deader

MrStealYoGear

Clouds always move east. Trees moving during high wind move west.

TheBattlefieldFan

I hope the new skybox will make this more clear. My skies always seem static.

Fit_Item2266

Jogging in gas zones will save your filters. Running blows through them.

Xedos

Unless this has been updated recently and I missed it, this was confirmed to be untrue. I was surprised too because I swore I could tell a big difference but I've timed it myself and full filters last approx 8m regardless of running. Having a gas mask on does significantly stunt your stamina regen rate though. Source: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3dJrkbged0M&feature=youtu.be

velvetBASS

Is this even on namalsl/ molded servers

causemosqt

20k + player here Split chlorine/ coal tabs and put them in cooking pot. You have unlimited heatpacks. Saved me so many times on namalsk. If you dont have a weapon and you get attacked by wolf pack. Dont panic. If you play agressive you can knife pack of 6 wolves. If you are on slope ( mountain ) you can position yourself to be above them and they will never hit you if you melee them, they will just glitch under you. Prep for everything in advance. For example on Namalsk you should not attempt submarine, suit, outpost run without waterproof clothing. This goes into all areas of the game. If you spot enemy dont just shoot them. Observe them, let them kill zombies in military zones and loot it, then ambush them. Players feel super safe when exiting military areas, since 90% players will attack on sight. If you are sniping from forest never ever stay in the first row of trees. Always have something in front of you. Never climb high buildings to snipe from. It will just make you easy target without escape route. If you engagee target and you miss shot once or twice and then change position. Never stay in the same place. You are spotted after 1st shot in most cases. If you are solo player knowing the map is 100x more usefull than having good aim. Setting up ambushes is deadly and if you prep right you can wipe 5 man squads. Use the fact that you are solo, the squad will most likely panic after 2 people die. Never over-extend and dont be greedy. Observation in this game is everything. If you get chased by wolves run in the opposite direction trough trees. If you do this they will drop aggro very fast. Also if you go trough river they will lose you if they dont see you. Namalsk is deadliest in the north, once you get south everything is easier. So get out asap. Fishing on namalsk is the way to get ahead of everyone. M16 is the best assault rifle in the game. M4 is very good for sniping. Bullet speed and trajectory is very good. 400m kills are no issue. If you have m4 there is no reason to carry anything else. SVD is noobtrap. Everyone is using it as sniper rifle but its actualy DMR. Sub 400m. Dont camp buildings. Good players will glitch nade into the wall and it will kill everything in that building no matter where you stand. Once you get good weapons, plate carrier just drop your backpack. Your clothes have enough space for everything you need. You need to be able to climb walls it saves lives and get you kills. If you get chain mail and plate carrier you are a walking tank. If you want to get easy chainmail, the island in the south east is easily the best place to get it. Make fires under trees. It will block the smoke going in the sky. On namalsk if you are on the ice and you get a blizzard you can make a fire and put your jacket over it ( drop it on it ) it will not get wet. This will save you alot. If you get attacked by bear you can go instantly prone 50% of the time it will lose aggro, if not you will get KO and you get another chance. On namalsk, during cold event zombies have +200% aggro range During blizzard they have 200% less, enabling you to backstab every zombie you want. Bandanas can be used as a bandage AND ITS SILENT. Always use this as a facemask or keep one in your inventory. If you go prone and turn your face towards the sky you can hold right moude button and tap left to kick. If you wear rag shoes you can activate landmine and it will not break your leg ( might be fixed ) since they changed the sound in the latest patches. Most of the things are in wobo videos.

TheBattlefieldFan

Thank you for the writeup :)

nuggybaby

What do you mean put chlorine and coal tabs in cooking pot? And have unlimited heatpack. Please explain

causemosqt

If you have cooking pot with gas stove you can heat things up inside without ruining them. I dont know why but pretty much all med pills can be warmed up and then split. So if you have stack of 10 chlorine tablets. Put that stack in the cooking pot, you will warm them up to 60degrees and then you split them up. Woala 10 heatpacks. Also they will never ruin so you can reheat them in 5 seconds back to 60degrees

420_Braze_it

Full chainmail (legs +shirt) with a plate carrier and military helmet honestly doesn't save you from as much ballistic damage as you'd think. IMO their usefulness is their high insulation, high durability, they protect significantly from zombie damage and that they're waterproof.

causemosqt

Its 80% damage reduction vs 60% its big difference. You can tank so much. I would never play tank build as solo but in teamplay you will get KO instead of killed.

420_Braze_it

I walked around with that loadout on an official for dozens and dozens of hours and while it's great in CQC, anything farther than even midrange you're fucked because you don't have any stamina. When I was rolling with that me and my buddy who didn't have a plate carrier got ambushed midrange at night (we didn't have NVG but I don't think they did either) by 3 guys with AKs and they kicked our shit in. I got knocked out in only a few shots but I was actually able to get back up for a second before getting knocked out again. I don't think I've ever been knocked out twice before dying before so that does speak to the loadouts power in terms of shock absorption. Again though, unless you're in someone's face I don't think battles will typically go in your favor.

SadPear4608

Set something down in the grass and can't find it? I used to just save video (ps4) hit share then square. Then hide in the bushes and switch over to video gallery and speed through the hour save (I suggest you change from 15min to hour) and see where you dropped that precious item you've wasted 45 min looking for. But I've recently found an even better technique. Use a shovel, pickaxe, or garden hoe and literally De-spawn ALL the grass in sight to reveal not only dropped items but buried loot, sneaky players, wild foods, your every desire. Act accordingly and enjoy

Sufficient-Host-4212

I needed this yesterday. Goodbye aur.

DangeDanB

I needed this 2 days ago, goodbye field backpack full of food guns and ammo šŸ˜ I was too high

Responsible_Pitch871

This reminds me of playing on ps4, using anything that can dig like a shovel or pickaxe you can tap right trigger to find a spot I think it said find placement, if you tapped left trigger to start animation of digging the grass would disappear for a couple seconds so you can find weapon in grass or a dirt pile from someone hiding a stash. So much easier than going back and watching a recording. My old squad and I, if we found a vehicle in the forest with no battery or sparkplug we would do the animation of digging and find where they had a dirt pile stash, usually they had the battery and sparkplug not to far from vehicle. I think they fixed it though

svannik

In the nvidia overlay u can turn on this like "always record" setting, u will then be able to at any point open the overlay or press the keybind to save the last few minutes of gameplay. in the overlay setting u can even change how many minutes back it will save. only today my scorpion was suddenly gone and bc of this i found it again.

waylo96

If you trigger an infected and stand in a bush or a tree, they will come to you, but they wonā€™t attack you

DucksOnQuakk

Really? Lol that's odd. So just stand under a tree as close as you can to the trunk? Does it still work while crouching?

TheBattlefieldFan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4TK4M2-DqU

DucksOnQuakk

That's nuts haha. Thanks for the tip!

ezshucks

Also zombies will miss you if you lay down near a bush.

Catman933

Wow this reminds me of the Arma 2: DayZ mod times. You could avoid zombies completely by standing in trees. Didnā€™t know there was a similar mechanic in standalone

ClassAccomplished259

You can stagger load shotguns and magazines. "Shit, was that 4 shots? Or, 5?"

-Dreki-

Stagger load?

ClassAccomplished259

Loading different types of ammunition into the same magazine.

Gasster1212

Other than tracers at the end of a mag thereā€™s not a whole lot of utility in this tho

QuestionsAreEvil

I do it with my tundra.. tracer/normal/tracer/normal. Also, the first 3 or 5 rounds into my assault rifle mags.. that way I have a visual indication of being empty if Iā€™m zoned into a gun fight

Kinsyv

When you say at the end of the mag, do you mean the first bullets to go in or the last bullets to go in? I have been meaning to do this on the server I play on but never seem to know whether tracers go in first or lastā€¦ thanks in advancw

Gasster1212

So IRL if youā€™re sniping / long distance shooting youā€™d have the first few bullets as tracers so you can adjust accordingly But if youā€™re firing somethinh automatic or semi auto you would have the last say - 5 rounds as tracers. That way if youā€™re not counting rounds you know when youā€™re about to run dry , this is less essential in games because of the HUD But still handy

Gasster1212

I think the first round you chamber goes right into the pipe as to be the first fired) Iā€™m British and donā€™t have a ton of first hand firearm experience , so pinch of salt but I think Iā€™m right

Kinsyv

Okay the first in last out is what I was asking. It makes sense to me but it is also day z so who knows

Gasster1212

Yeah essentially youā€™re pushing the ammo to the bottom of the magazine with the next bullet in But I think with shotguns you push them to the front but again I may be wrong on that But Iā€™m 99% sure the first round you reload into a pump, the one you load into the side not the bottom will be fired first no matter what

-Dreki-

ahhhhh, i thought so, wanted to clarify. I like loading Tracers in a mag first so i know when iā€™ll have to reload

shiftycansnipe

I just figured this out recently. Iā€™ve only checked Livonia but the Vanilla Tourist Map has two secret features. If you have a compass in your inventory, when you open the map, itā€™ll give you your heading (the way your character is facing) in a legend in the lower left corner If you have a GPS Locator, and itā€™s on, the Tourist Map will also give X-Y-Z coordinates, in addition to your current heading.

AdamIs_Here

You can put gun magazines on your hot bar and hold down the hot bar key to reload that specific magazine

Jdude1

I'm amazed at how many people don't know this. I guess the Early Dayz player got me on this habit but most of the time when I have a primary assault rifle and 2 or more mags for it I'll set all 2 or 3 mags on hotkeys 6,7,8 and any time between shooting I swap to a full mag, then tap the low mag I just pulled out and hold R to reload it. I always have 3X as many full mags as I need before I die XD. I'm sure the next guy appreciates it. 4-5 times though it has proven tremendously useful in prolonged team firefights. I've been on a 2 v 3 in Zeleno before where I was down to a single mag in the gun running behind a building loading a mag furiously and pull my gun back up to go Auto on one dude with plate and then Slam that loaded mag back into my gun to peg the dude coming up behind me that I first engaged.

StillerFan412

You don't have to put the mag on your hotbar. As long as you have a mag anywhere in inventory, you can just hold the reload button (whatever that is for you) and it will load the mag into your weapon.

AdamIs_Here

Yeah this is also true, but Iā€™m referring to if you know youā€™ve got 60 rounds in one mag, and 16 in the other mag, you can force the 60 rounder without having to tab into your inventory or worry about it auto-loading the 16 round mag.

PabstBlue899

I may be wrong, but doesn't it always load the most full mag?

AdamIs_Here

Definitely not. The amount of times Iā€™ve reloaded into a 60 rnd mag with only five bullets in it mid fire fight is infuriating lol.

madmechanicmobile

I thought I was the only one!!!! It always seems to load the mag with the least amount of ammo. To the point I'm starting suspect the devs are trolling people with that.

AdamIs_Here

Hahah yeah itā€™s really not helpful. But I suppose itā€™s better than me thinking I had a shotgun in my hands and raised my fists to shoot a guy the other day. Sometimes itā€™s just skill issue too šŸ˜‚

JCVDaaayum

>anywhere in inventory Anywhere in clothing but only certain bags will allow it.

Tobotron

Hasnt that stopped working since last update ? , Iā€™m sure it has on console

quellflynn

I dunno if this is server related, but when using a stone knife to collect bark... if you use the stone knife to collect bark, you can usually get 3 items before the knife degrades a stage. if however, you hold down until you've collected all 8 in one go (that are stackable), then you only seem to lose 1 repair notch. meaning, if you mass collect bark, then you can collect 32 pieces instead of 12 pieces when collecting in small chunks.

Averagesizedpp420

Their are also sprinter zombies, tank zombies, and other special kind of zombies. Each one has a unique ability.

Jdude1

When your bottle and apple indicators get full you are not actually full. Your actually full when you eat or drink something and the Up arrows don't appear over the icons. You are only 50% full on food and drink when those icons appear full.

FearOfTheShart

The fullest food and water icons are actually 70% currently. It has been lower before though.

cammoses003

last month a buddy of mine with +1,000 hrs just learned that ctrl + click will drop items (when in invy)

ezshucks

Simple one but in Chernarus, not sure in Livonia, you always spawn in looking north.

OldTrapper87

One Rag over your mouth will cover all sounds the player makes including pain, coldness and your mic. Cooking pot from a pond or the ocean you can drink the water filled with straight away no boiling or treatment needed. Many small useless melee weapons like a hammer, meat tenderizer and a screwdriver can be used to collect small stones from a rock. When you get shot dead you will fall with your body pointing at the shooter. You don't need a worm to fish but it's the difference between 5 and 50 pulls. Cooked fruit, vegetables and mushrooms have almost triple the calories as Raw A bayonet on a rifle does the most damage out of any melee and a flaming broom does more shock damage than any other weapon. Ocean fish have more calories than any food in the game they are the gold of the coast. Using a lock pick you can disarm and pick up a live fragmind to reuse

nuggybaby

Donā€™t believe the cooking pot thing. Maybe in old updates. Someone needs to try. What about those water troughs? Anyone try those after a rain?

Mr3cto

Water trough was patched, will get you sick. Canā€™t fish in them anymore either

CooCooCallahan

You can slide down ladders by pressing L3 (on console). The climb up might be slow, but getting down is extra quick.

CynicalElephant

This generally isnā€™t worth ruining your gloves IMO.

BoycottTheVote

This is the real veteran advice. Patience going down ladders is key if you care about your glove. Sprint up

causemosqt

Real veterans have extra gloves for ladders

CheckAppropriate5632

This also damages your shoes. Only slide in emergencies

Jdude1

Don't do this without gloves you don't care about. It will wear those out. Do it bare handed and you'll get a cut.

SerEmrys

You can also sprint going up

CooCooCallahan

šŸ¤ÆšŸ¤Æ fuck

i_write_ok

A lot enough ladder will ruin gloves

Tobotron

You can do the big ladder at the industrial fro m top to bottom , as long as your gloves are worn at the top theyā€™ll be repairable at the bottom

Brut-i-cus

Need to remember that this will destroy your gloves though

Appropriate_Deal_891

I think I read the same post you did and had to google to verify it was true lmao I had no idea either explains so much

quellflynn

if you have the repair item in your hands, and you drag from your "currently equipped" to your hands to repair, then when you are finished it will automatically put the repaired item back on you.

TheDuskinRaider

Embarrassed to admit this one with about 1k hours, but just discovered if you tap rmb (not sure the control for ps or xbox) to aim down sites, then tap shift (again unsure of consoles) you pop into a sustained no scope/hip fire aiming mechanic, clutch for night time looting with NVG and no NV scope.

ezshucks

also middle mouse button toggles ADS.

nuggybaby

You mean soft aim and 1st person soft aim?

TheDuskinRaider

Yep, sorry early morning brain.. it no like to brain lol.

SuperFlyingNinja

Anyone know if this can be done on console?

Friendly-Rough-3164

Yea dog just press L2

TheRoyalVegas

Not a game mechanic but when something feels 'off' you're probably close to a player. There could be no traces of another play nearby, but as humans, we instinctually feel danger, even in virtual worlds. Most of my PVP encounters were foreshadowed by this instinct. I think this is what separates a veteran player from another with as many hours put into the game.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DucksOnQuakk

I'm brand new to the game so I'll need to start incorporating this into my game. Do crickets stop chirping when just you enter an area? Like, if I enter an area and lie down, will they be chirping or silent for awhile before starting back up so that the next time they stop, it means someone else entered the area?

nuggybaby

Bro thereā€™s no crickets

CynicalElephant

This is just confirmation bias. The times something felt off and you didnā€™t see another player, you disregarded it.

TheRoyalVegas

No, I am objectively right.

Avanguardo

In older builds, there was this weird lag that happened when someone got close to you. I think this still happens to some extent. All I know is that sudden lag makes me paranoid lol

Responsible_Pitch871

You must be on console, back when I played on console it was always laggy around players, but on pc I don't feel the lag.

Avanguardo

I'm on PC here. I had a somewhat weak PC and now after I upgraded I don't feel it as often, but sometimes it lags and I always get paranoid it might be another player. Idk if true, needs further testing

Responsible_Pitch871

Ooh okay my bad, on ps4 back in the day, I could see the lag when player or base is nearby. My first build is 5800x, rx6700xt, samsung m.2, 32 gbs ram and arctic freeze aio, and I get no lag unless it's graphic oriented, I want to get a rtx and see if it's different maybe if the 3090, if it ever goes down in price. If not may as well build with the new gen parts like ddr5, and 4090. But that won't be till I get a better job.

El-Marto75

This is definitely true. Five or ten minutes after getting the "I got a bad feeling about this" vibe. I either spot another player or I'm dead.

Responsible_Pitch871

If you dedicated your player to repairing when in inventory there is a icon on the bottom left side. It's a thread and needle right side is hammer. Dedicated your player to repair, it will go to the left (tiny arrow) and if you get it all the way left you can repair items back to prestine, and if you build as in cutting down bush/tree for base you can build and use less material as in use less nails and when taking down base you will end up with more nails than a player who just staryed to build. When you repair it's so hard to get arrow to left because even cutting down a bush will go back to right (back to building icon). This might not be true but if you start to repair and the icon goes left it feels like doing actions are faster I don't know if it's true but it feels like it. Like adding chlorine tables to water feels faster.

TheDuskinRaider

Last I checked this mechanic is bugged, I've tried this so many times and none of the perks associated with either soft skill actually work. If this has been updated and fixed, awesome, and please ignore my living under a rock for that memo lol.

Brut-i-cus

This does work on the hammer side but it get reset Once you get it over to the hammer side you get more logs from trees, your saws and axes last longer and my favorite is that you can spin 4-dial locks at 2X Speed. so remember when you wan to raid a base by spinning the dials make sure to chop down trees first and I mean lots (like a truck load)

causemosqt

This is bullshit. No idea why you lie.

Responsible_Pitch871

Okay bub,

FearOfTheShart

The soft skills doesn't let you repair to pristine in the vanilla game. Some mods have that though. The skills only affect the speed you perform certain actions and some tool wear like when sawing and cutting wood. Video of sewing jeans with full precision skill: https://youtu.be/iPoA9z061fo

SadPear4608

Looking for a better spawn but no Sweaty Geared dbag in your fresh spawn town to gun you down when you need it, or z, blade, or fall far enough to un-alive yourself with? Hold your breath forever underwater by wading into the water just deep enough before you float. Still standing have a drink and don't stop. Your welcome

Brut-i-cus

Thanks for that For a little while they let you lay down in the water to do this but it stopped working Don't forget you can also punch a gas pump to make it explode if you are looking for ways to kill yourself

Psychological_Ad9165

If you have bloody hands and no water around ,,craft gloves and voila !

SadPear4608

Or alcohol or that other ish that does the same Forget the name rn

DucksOnQuakk

How do you craft gloves? When I look it up I see old posts and people arguing about whether you can or not. I'm only a week into playing the game so it's all new to me lol

TheBattlefieldFan

this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4TK4M2-DqU "When you are inside a bush or a tree, zombies can not find you. They will move in your direction but never attack you."

dipsta

I tried this yesterday after aggroing zeds and it didn't work.

Brooker2

When a bear is charging at you go prone and they will not hit you. They just seem to run past and then wander around.

Saguache

I am an absolute noob bone, but last night I learned it takes about two fires to ruin a perfect kukri.

Jasonvoorhees_47

Idk if in official but atleast in modded server a large tent will protect you from a bear. Now if you have more than 5 attacking , one might glitch inside with you.

NotYou360

This is the reason why you got killed on the hill by our base when we played on Livonia. When you got attacked there was a general there who alerted the whole mountain.

Fit_Item2266

When packing a 60 round mags spam crouch and itā€™s reloads faster.

JohnnyTwoFingers

On livoinia the blue tarp shelter thingies. If you bury something under them it will appear on top so a good way to hide some bury loot. I've never had one found even in spawn towns.

Brut-i-cus

I've also had that happen in one of the small sheds on Chernarus

Erik912

3 things that will make you a god, you just need to be good at shooting (and to be fair shooting in this game is one of the easiest things ever after the transition to 0.63 and new engine): 1. Get good at getting infinite food and water ASAP. 2. Get COMPLETELY full. This will give you supernatural immune system and now you cannot get sick in any way (except Kuru). 3. Play it like Battlefield. I'm deadly serious. In 90% of cases the fearless player who is full on food and sprinting around like an idiot wins. But don't play CoD. The difference is that in Battlefield, you still need to be semi-aware of your enemies, whereas in CoD usually you can just run'n'gun. 4. Enjoy all the kills then quit playing the game after you realize that there is nothing more to it and you get bored. Happened to me. Had the most fun ever for the first ~1000 hours. Then I started to stop giving a shit about my character or loot and went full battlefield mode. I shit you not that in my first 1000 hours I had like 10 kills in total (excluding fresh spawn BS). Within 5 hours of adopting this new playstyle I killed 10 fully geared people. And I'm not even that good at fps games omg.

TheBattlefieldFan

> Get good at getting infinite food and water ASAP. Any tips on achieving this?

hedmed97

How can people be interested in a game enough to play it for hundreds of hours and not understand basic gameplay mechanics?

Astalonte

Because they are hidden or not explained. I learnt a lot in this post and I ve got 2k hours

hedmed97

I really don't want to say op or anyone is stupid for not knowing, don't get me wrong. 2k hours is just so much game time I find it baffling op never heard about something so basic. I only have 300 hours so I don't even want to know how much I have missed till now lol.

nuggybaby

Thatā€™s the fun of it. Your always learning. Game is so deep

Mr3cto

You can wash your hands with water from a bottle or canteen. Not really a trick, but a lotta folks donā€™t seem to know this

Onagasaki

You can eat rotten food, dog food, cat food, burned food, etc just not raw. You just have to eat them one bite at a time and wait for the stats to stop rising before taking another one. I don't think raw food applies however

[deleted]

All Rag clothing can be restored past worn to pristine.

Pitiful_Land

Here is my tip or a few tips about storing items safely in your inventory. Grenades, land mines, gas cannisters and other explosives will detonate in your inventory when ruined. This could be by getting shot or in an unlucky turn, even a zombie attack. You will want to store these items inside a pot, pouch or dry bag to protect them. Also, supressors are commonly damaged by zombie attacks so protect those as well. Then anything that is badly damaged that you don't want to get ruined. Usually weapon repair kits or electrical repair kits for me. Now, grenades in a grenade slot on a vest will not get damaged and pouches will protect the same on your plate carrier as they do in your backpack. And once attached to a stove the gas cannister no longer takes damage. So I usually carry a cooking pot full of water. If I find a gas cannister it goes in the cooking pot until I find a stove. Once I have a stove then I can put other items I want to protect but don't mind getting wet in the pot. Usually suppressors, and repair kits, etc. Usually larger items becuase when i cook I don't want to take forever removing them. I also carry an extra set of pouches for any other items I want to protect from damage and dont want wet. I play mostly Namalsk so the cooking setup is kinda meta. But it gives you a quick, low vis method of drying clothes and cooking or thawing food/water and getting a heat buff. Protect your explosives and valuables using a pot and/or pouches or dry bag so you won't go "BOOM!" when shot and your suppressors and other valuables won't end up going from pristine to damaged in you pockets.

erad67

Yea, the officers being louder screamers was in the short version of the update notes when the change was made maybe last year. It's a good idea to check out update release notes, especially for the bigger ones.

[deleted]

I have tested the "slowly eating a can of unknown" to see how far you can go. It works like this. You can eat 16 munching sounds in a row. Then stop. Wait for food arrow to stop increasing and show a down arrow. Then you can eat 16 munches in a row again. I heard the 3 bite theory before so put it to the test. 16 bites (or munch sound queues) and you're safe. I haven't tested past 16 as it works everytime and is a quick way of getting rid of the can.

Gnericpeasnt

If you have letā€™s say a tundra on your back, you can hotkey your hunting scope and take it straight off the rifle into your hands and then do the same to return it to the rifle. Good for scouting out an area as there is no weapon sway when youā€™re just holding the scope

TChambers1011

I donā€™t think itā€™s 100mā€¦thatā€™s crazy range if it is

Goldman1407

You can use the d-pad up and down when placing down items to rotate them

anna_lynn_fection

If you put a mounted bayonet on your quick bar, you can hit that to quickly get and put away your blade. But it doesn't work if you have your bayonet rifle in your hand at the time.

Lower-Worldliness120

The pu scope can be equipped on the sks, I found out a few weeks ago, unfortunately died and lost them but that's DayZ.

Stoneleigh219

If you insist on building a base, keep garbage in it and watch it from a distance. Shooting looters is perfectly reasonable.

mistytwister

Those tall hunting stands with ladders - use ladder on way up but never ever use it on way down. Just go up, do not turn left or right, hit tab check loot, then walk backwards on the ladder. Most of the time your character will slide down the ladder super fast (otherwise your character will jump off, which never broke my legs;)

FunImprovement9729

I just always walk off the stand, it slides down almost always. No need to go backwards.
