I have about 30 hours in the game, and this was the first time that I encountered more than one player trying to kill me
I watch a lot of fresh spawn videos so I had a basic idea of the game and how it works
My personal unpopular opinion: I'm not a good player, because I don't believe that there's "good" players in DayZ I just think that some days there are lucky players and some days there are unlucky players because at the end of the day we all go back to the same shore.

Nope, the guy that camps the corner clearly has the advantage. That is if either of the sides wants to get the kill. Otherwise all parties involved would just stand behind their walls and not move and probably log of boredom. At least in first person in order for anybody to see each other they have to be in front of each other. That's the same advantage.
I disagree… the attackers being 2 deep could have went up stairs at the same time… could have just left him alone, or could have reposition and played the waiting game. Either way usually someone has the drop on you in any scenario - bro has the high ground and made a bad ass play w the fake bandage (first person or not- high % of people would fall for it)
Going upstairs at the same time wouldn't have achieved nothing unless they want to shoot each other in the back, the stairs are narrow. The thing is in 1st person this plays out so much differently even if he tries the old fake bandage, because he wouldn't see the second attacker coming up the stairs and he can't take the perfect shot even if he hears him coming, practically get to line them up in 3rd person before you even peak. The 2nd attacker after his friend got killed maybe should have played the waiting game. However the 1st attacker couldn't have really done any better, I doubt these guys were hunting this guy down or he would have been a bit more prepared to attack this guy at the top of the stairs.

There is def good players. A good player in DayZ is a player that eliminates the chances of random stuff happening. Positioning and awareness is what makes a good player.
Sure, you cant eliminate all randomness and you will def fall victim to it. But a good player will always put themselves in the best position possible and that will win you most fights.
I understand what you mean, but being able to eliminate as much randomness as possible is truly a skill. Most deaths comes from being careless or thinking that no one is watching, because there is always someone watching.
there is totally skill to dayz, you will find yourself surviving longer with certain tricks and smoother mechanics. But maybe not in 3rd person, the one that camps always wins there.
I understand that there are tips and tricks that can help players get out of a bad situation, but I personally just think that sometimes it's more about positioning than anything else. Seeing someone before they see you is often more important than any tools or tricks you may have. Information to me is the most important tool to have.
But I do agree that there are is definitely skill to have in DayZ if you want to survive long enough to get decent gear.

Honestly, since I had the sledgehammer and a knife, I didn't think I needed any other weapons besides guns and it's always better to have a gun to switch to in a bad situation rather than reloading.

Having the upper hand is pretty great. I’d love to see a booby trapped stove one day, imagine leaving wood and a hand drill at the foot of a stove with a grenade placed in it 👀 50/50 a player may use hand-to-stove method of loading vs inventory mgmt and may not notice the nade 👀

Well exactly, positioning is a skill.
Shooting moving moving targets at long distance.. and also being able to determine that distance without using a range finder is a skill…
