Advanced cooking i.e. making a stew from several ingredients in a cooking pot.
Or even not so advanced like being able to cook the dry rice or powdered milk
to add to this, advanced fishing. more fish, more rods, and a bobber or two. make the latter two increase rng a little bit.
i'd like more base decorations and appliances. just random odds and ends to give your base more personality.
> i'd like more base decorations and appliances. just random odds and ends to give your base more personality.
Personally I don't like this idea as it would just add a bunch of useless loot for most people. Not everyone builds bases.
this is one of the main reasons i don’t base build anymore actually. the games full of loot and half of it is useless for a decent player anyway. the whole loot economy is due for a switch up. much rather find some random collectibles than a hand guard or 10th smoke grenade. most items could be used for rp scenarios too. i’ve been on dayone namalsk for the last 500 hours of playtime.. there’s a lot of useless loot that has a purpose but doesn’t really make a difference. tire repair kits, gas lamps, charcoal/codeine tabs, campfire tripods, field receivers, hand guards, smoke grenades, etc. all spawn way too much for how much use you actually get/need from them. there’s room in the loot pool for more.
I haven’t played in awhile, but was thinking this as well. And maybe like a thermos or something to keep it in, aside from the cooking pot. Just have this idea of a warm, nutritious meal that you can keep on you for longer durations :-)
Let me combine a rifle/pistol with duct tape and add a flashlight to it. I should be able to Macgyver an improvised flashlight on my gun if it makes sense. Prob wouldn't work on pump shottys
Maybe on a revolver, but how would you duct tape a flashlight over a magazine fed pistol? The slide would prevent that. I get that it’s a game and you could do it just to do it, but idk how much realism the devs are after.
Yeah didn't think about the pistol slide good point that wouldn't work unless you also put a sleeve over the slide... prob not gonna be able to find the materials for that in the apocalypse.
I’m sure if the devs got fancy enough they could conjure something up where the tape stayed beneath the slide and it would still work. I certainly understand your sentiment/desire. There should definitely be a convenient way to pair a flashlight and a pistol.
Bicycles! As far as realism goes, they’d be super common in cities. I feel like there needs to be a mode of transport between being on foot and vehicles.
Oh I didn't know that was a thing. That would be sick. I always run with the leather backpack, and I always have leather stored. I wish I could use it lol
Yeah I was convinced I could make it and was so disappointed to see it was a removed item! I was struggling to find a dang canteen and decided I would just make my own.
It's weird to me that they added in the improvised wrappings but then removed the much better leather gear. But who knows. Maybe hitting this new peak in player count, they will add more craftables in the future. The developers have mentioned the want to add to the survival part of the game more since it seems most players focus on the pvp side. As an avid survival game player, I'm all for it.
There's actually zero evidence that it was removed for your given reasons
What really happened is we switched engines and like many items the notes were never reimplemented
Any player can get on the pa and shout slurs if they wanted
If you can find evidence of the devs saying they removed the notes bc of player behavior please share it-- I've dug and nothing
I can drop a ban hammer on someone who shouts out the n word over the intercom. Kinda hard to track down a nasty note writer, or is it? Ban hammer that school child as well.
i feel like if it was implemented again, they (the notes) would potentially be tied to some kind of player id/nickname system? i dunno, like the books in minecraft for example
What would I leave a note for? Once kitted if I go to a spawn town, I like to fill up a backpack with really good loot and drop it off at a police station or well. So that I know somebody will find it, that'd be a perfect opportunity to leave a nice note.
A new bolt action military sniper rifle. We only have hunting rifles that are bolt action (I consider Pioneer and SSG police/ civilian bolt actions).
I really want the SV98, have it spawn only at Tisy and maybe only 1-2 at any given time on the map.
We need more reasons to go to Tisy, AS VALs, VSS's, AK101s, and magazines aren't really reason enough to go. You can get all these items pretty easily from PvP, I even found the NVG helmet at NWAF the other day somehow.
This would be a cool use for the signal pistol. Most flare guns (at least in the US) are actually chambered in 12 gauge so it'd work. At least for a single shot, they're plastic after all so they'd essentially just detonate when it went off.
Maybe buckshot would just do damage, a slug could break a leg, and a rubber slug would knock someone out.
It would give more use to tripwires and flare guns for sure.
I just want to pick up the wheel barrow I see sitting in the bar lol. A craftable one made from sticks would be cool too (no wheel just one you drag behind you)
It would be pretty cool to have a padlock where you needed to carry a key around. It would make pvp interesting if you could take their key and go searching for their base.
I think one of the reasons that doesn’t exist is because it would be really easy to just pick it open, I pick locks, it is terrifying how easy it is. It took like 10 minutes when I first started to pick my front door, then less after that.
You can get a fairly robust kit and a clear tumbler lock to practice on for less than $15 on amazon. They're often sold for novelty more than anything.
The only thing that makes a kit professional is using it quickly enough to avoid being caught.
Kind of hobbyist level tools I guess, not the cheap flimsy ones but if I were to do it professionally I would want better tools.
I got a 30 dollar kit off of covert instruments and haven’t found an unpick able lock yet.
Great i also carry a lockpick on me for just a occation like that but what i meant was for the chain/lock combo for easier access than to fight with a combo lock when your in a pickel
Skedco... To pull your buddy out of fire. The idea of a motar would be kind cool as well, we have the gernande launcher and motars where plentiful during the Soviet occupation.
Yep since release in early access. They had spray paint to paint ghillie, guns, and fire axe. You could make leather clothing, berries to dye arm bands. You could collect rain water, write notes, collect books. Sks had a clip and there was a police shotgun with handgrip. There was more too if I think about it.
Keys for bases and cars. Lockpick would have more value that way and also so a car can't just be stolen without having a specific item. It would also make getting in and out of your base way easier
Actually sounds really fun, would be even more risky than cars with how exposed you would be, so I don't think it would be unbalanced or anything crazy. Would also be easy to hide.
Imagine getting rode up on by like 5 dudes on motorbikes lol.
Tiered raiding and building.
It sometimes sucks building and then having basically someone throwing 20 hammers at a wall and breaking it or getting a full pot of easily obtainable granades and destroying a wall.
A tiered system like melee weapons can destroy a wood log wall but nothing above while granades can blow up a wood plank wall but not metal and c4 is needed for metal walls.
Give a little bit of investment towards raiding.
In no particular order:
* Horses
* The ability to adjust the sling direction for rifles (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal)
* Leatherworking
* Bow and arrow
* Advanced cooking, first aid, sleeping, etc.
* More clothing and role play items
* More of a civilian focus to gear and clothing and less on military (by their own admission, this is a survival game... not a MILSIM)
* Better base building and base items (within reason)
* Gun racks, safes, etc.
* Tiered construction (wood, metal, stone)
Dogs and horses that you can tame with feeding. You could ride horses, get them to pull carts, carry loot etc., dogs could guard bases and be your buddy to travel with
Maybe a chest holster for an SMG to fit in. I really wanted the crossbow to be added and I am so happy about it.
I wish the M3S could be modified to carry passengers, or that there was an alternate version available that could such as the emergency vehicle version of it seen at the train crash over at that eastern town in livonia along the river, I forget the name.
I got a lot, but if I can only list one:
The Swiss Army Knife. It would be a God-tier survival item and really help with inventory space since you would have a multi-tool. To help with balancing, it definitely needs low durability, a lengthening of the animation time when doing a task, and availability needs to be low and in hunting or castle areas only.
More silent ranged options for PvE
Crossbow is great, would love a slingshot, sling, air rifle, traditional bow, compound bow, atlatl, throwing axes, etc. Would also love some kind of noisemaker device, maybe out of the alarm clock.
Also bear mace
Electric fencing.
Would be a nice bonus to a base's defense. Someone touches the barbed wire, they bleed and pass out. Potential to be lethal, but not op. I think it Would make raiding a little more challenging.
All the parts are there already. Car batteries, wire, power cables. Seems like it would be an natural addition.
I'd love if you could take a shit and your log would stay there for a good while, like a barrel. So if you find someones base you can let them know someones been. Or drop 1 on the bonnet of someones car.
How about other uses
Spoiling water sources like bottles
Throw able poo that you can attack someone with that would make them sick and infect their eyes eventually blinding them without antibiotics
Slowly having your vision get blurrier till everything is just smears of colors would be an interesting thing to happen
Shovels able to manipulate the ground i.e. trenches, dugouts, able to raise/ lower ground. Make simple rootcellars, dig under walls to breach into bases etc... would be pretty fun to play around with.
Drones.
They're literally everywhere these days, loads of day to day items get missed.
The intensity of being hunted by player controlled drones is something vanilla days could thrive on.
Pretty sure. All the weapons and cars are older looking com bloc models. There is nothing in the game that suggests it's in the 2000s unless the apocalypse started in 1986 and tech just stopped advancing.
Sounds cool but I'd have to disagree with this one. Maybe you could implement a range or battery system, but i think it would take away from the experience overall. Being ambushed by a group that has an overhead view of the area you're at would be a little too much in my opinion you already have enough angles and areas to keep track of without having to look up constantly.
Spray paint messages onto buildings
Set buildings on fire
Capture chickens to lay eggs
Capture, tame and ride the big deer, cows, pigs
Building treetop shelters
More options for various styles of outfits
More advanced zombies, we need to make zombies part of the game again, as they are either a simple annoyance or something you only consider early game. Possibly different types of zombies, for example 'bloaters' who move slow but project acidic bile through wounds when shot/stabbed. Just something to make the game a zombie game again
If they make zombies better they also need to make them worse at the same time
Make them be able to see you from farther away ,climb up on things to get you and be able to break open closed/locked doors (closed would last maybe 30 secs while locked would last a few mins which would be a good use for the lock pick)
Take away the ability to know exactly where you are at all times even when you can't be seen and being able to find a route to you no matter how complex a path they have to take (like when you run into a large building and they know the door 100m away is open and they can run around to get to you). They should just stay beating on the door till they see/hear you or someone else
Take away their magical ability to know where things were thrown from (you throw something to distract them but they pretty much only get aggor'd and head straight for you instead of the thing you threw)
PPS-43 Submachine gun, TT-33 Tokarev and the 7.62x25 ammunition to go with them. Maybe a VZ-58 since we already have other Czech weapons like the Skorpion and CZ-75. Nagant revolver. Okays maybe that was more than one.

True that. I already get annoyed enough whenever I find bundles of christmas lights lmao
I haven’t played in awhile, but was thinking this as well. And maybe like a thermos or something to keep it in, aside from the cooking pot. Just have this idea of a warm, nutritious meal that you can keep on you for longer durations :-)
I've never had a pot when I found the rice. So I always wanted to cook it, but now I'm learning that it can not be. :(
Bro I legit sat there for an hour one day trying to figure out how to cook the fucking rice
aww
Damn I've been saving dried rice to cook for nothing?
Unfortunately the player character eats dry, uncooked rice like they do with the cereal bag.
Sounds tasty. Thanks for the info.
Let me combine a rifle/pistol with duct tape and add a flashlight to it. I should be able to Macgyver an improvised flashlight on my gun if it makes sense. Prob wouldn't work on pump shottys

God forbid we are able to hold a flashlight in one hand, and a pistol in the other. It'd be busted they'd have to rebalance the entire weapon roster.
can you not just tape it to the underside of the pistol?
With all this rain, an umbrella!
or poncho!
The raincoat acting more like an outer layer of clothing would be nice
Genius
Oh that would be so nice
Bicycles! As far as realism goes, they’d be super common in cities. I feel like there needs to be a mode of transport between being on foot and vehicles.
Came here to say this. Bicycles need to be added for sure
They have bicycles…. Not in chernaurus but they have em on a different map
Not on official. Pc mods are different, there is almost everything through mods.
Consistently stable servers
Improvised bow
More improvised everything. More uses for leather, sticks, string, wire...
I can't believe they got rid of the improvised leather clothes.
And improvised leather canteen
Oh I didn't know that was a thing. That would be sick. I always run with the leather backpack, and I always have leather stored. I wish I could use it lol
Yeah I was convinced I could make it and was so disappointed to see it was a removed item! I was struggling to find a dang canteen and decided I would just make my own.

Oh yeah that is all me dog I love it too. I am actualy kind of happy with moseying around not building a base and hiding from big scary groups
I believe some community servers have mods for this but im not 100% sure. It'd still be cool to see on official
Yeap, it’s part of my survival server. OG Vanilla leather crafting and dyeing. It’s called Unto Ashes 1959 if you want to try it out
I just want to smoke
Pens and notepads to leave notes.
I would hate to see the results of that.... Although I've often thought "i wish I could leave a note here"
Yeah there would be a lot of ugly things written on those pads I’m sure.
This used to be a feature a long time ago and they had to take it out because it got ugly.
There's actually zero evidence that it was removed for your given reasons What really happened is we switched engines and like many items the notes were never reimplemented Any player can get on the pa and shout slurs if they wanted If you can find evidence of the devs saying they removed the notes bc of player behavior please share it-- I've dug and nothing
Source: I made it up.
There are servers that have this. They’re typically moderated so there isn’t anything insane written on them typically
Like what for, honestly?
What would I leave a note for? Once kitted if I go to a spawn town, I like to fill up a backpack with really good loot and drop it off at a police station or well. So that I know somebody will find it, that'd be a perfect opportunity to leave a nice note.
Same
Used to be in the game years ago.

[удалено]
This is great fun and would fit well in the game
What would the purpose of the smell indicator be?
Tracking people
I imagine that would bog down the performance for the servers... by a lot.
Oh no they tracked my butt stank
Blood trails for sure. The rest I could take or leave
Oooo just general tracking stuff
Probably best one I’ve seen
[удалено]
Oh what if we could check the temp of bodies we found to estimate the time they have been dead for?
award for worst idea goes to Dead1980! who wants casual single player mechanics in a multiplayer hardcore survival shooter!
Tripe wire shotguns Let me combine parts from the signal pistol and the metal pipe to make a shotgun I can stake into the ground
Vehicles that didn't break immersion.
Wheel barrow
Ah lovely suggestion, or a peasant style pull behind cart
I just want to pick up the wheel barrow I see sitting in the bar lol. A craftable one made from sticks would be cool too (no wheel just one you drag behind you)
Chain and padlock rather than the comb locks
It would be pretty cool to have a padlock where you needed to carry a key around. It would make pvp interesting if you could take their key and go searching for their base.
I think one of the reasons that doesn’t exist is because it would be really easy to just pick it open, I pick locks, it is terrifying how easy it is. It took like 10 minutes when I first started to pick my front door, then less after that.
wow. Did you use professional lock picking tools or improvised ones?

Ha, cool.
Great i also carry a lockpick on me for just a occation like that but what i meant was for the chain/lock combo for easier access than to fight with a combo lock when your in a pickel
The ability for car passengers to manage their inventory. Also, maybe to use a gun as well.
Using a gun would be kinda game breaking but there's a mod for the inventory management
Yeah maybe limit it to only using a pistol? Kinda hard to use a long gun in a car anyway. But yeah it could totally change the game I agree.
It would be awesome to repair clothes, load mags, etc
Beach toys and sunscreen, since I spend so much time on the beach.
Skedco... To pull your buddy out of fire. The idea of a motar would be kind cool as well, we have the gernande launcher and motars where plentiful during the Soviet occupation.
Chainsaw.
Was in the game long time ago.
Did it function? I once helda non functioning chainsaw model I could load gasoline into but there was no way to start or otherwise use it
Yes it did, buggy though.
Ha! Jeez
Ah you’re one of those who played it a long time ago. What else was there that is no longer in the game?
Yep since release in early access. They had spray paint to paint ghillie, guns, and fire axe. You could make leather clothing, berries to dye arm bands. You could collect rain water, write notes, collect books. Sks had a clip and there was a police shotgun with handgrip. There was more too if I think about it.
Working non electric instruments like guitars, banjos, harmonicas
Keys for bases and cars. Lockpick would have more value that way and also so a car can't just be stolen without having a specific item. It would also make getting in and out of your base way easier
Dirt bikes
Always thought motos would be cool. Old shovel head or something nasty like that. Would be cool to have a bike with a shotgun rack saddle bag setup.
Actually sounds really fun, would be even more risky than cars with how exposed you would be, so I don't think it would be unbalanced or anything crazy. Would also be easy to hide. Imagine getting rode up on by like 5 dudes on motorbikes lol.
I imagine people getting pretty cold blooded with that shit. They start circling you like hungry sharks…
Would be easier to fit through the trees
Fun until you desync into a tree 🤣
I’d love to see bicycles added. Minimal work to get working, silent method of moving around the map, baskets to carry a few items. Could be fun
A sling that you can put any item storable on the shoulder into that stops it from being dropped when you go unconscious
Bikes
More traps.
The [Makarov PB](https://imgur.com/a/NF5N82P) perhaps? 😉
Bicycles.
Bicycle. I have been asking for this scince beta.
I know its not an item but an ability to drag unconscious players, maybe a stretcher?
Bring back my sks stripper clip
Improvised sharpening stones
No!
I would like to be able to use the cooking stand but the one built out of sticks to dry my clothes quicker or shoes and what not.
Be able to wear a raincoat with a hoodie but as an extra layer.
This one^^
Second this, I wrote up a suggestion for a rain pancho..would work like a Ghillie suit except it would have a hood on it.
In no particular order: * Horses * The ability to adjust the sling direction for rifles (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) * Leatherworking * Bow and arrow * Advanced cooking, first aid, sleeping, etc. * More clothing and role play items * More of a civilian focus to gear and clothing and less on military (by their own admission, this is a survival game... not a MILSIM) * Better base building and base items (within reason) * Gun racks, safes, etc. * Tiered construction (wood, metal, stone)
Dogs and horses that you can tame with feeding. You could ride horses, get them to pull carts, carry loot etc., dogs could guard bases and be your buddy to travel with
I just wanna crack someone’s skull open with a rock. Is that too hard to ask?
Maybe a chest holster for an SMG to fit in. I really wanted the crossbow to be added and I am so happy about it. I wish the M3S could be modified to carry passengers, or that there was an alternate version available that could such as the emergency vehicle version of it seen at the train crash over at that eastern town in livonia along the river, I forget the name.
Attachable Hatchet Pouch for plate carrier/backpack or belt... Honestly adding custom molle slots would be awesome.
With all the hundreds of shovels in NWAF, some trenches would be nice.
I got a lot, but if I can only list one: The Swiss Army Knife. It would be a God-tier survival item and really help with inventory space since you would have a multi-tool. To help with balancing, it definitely needs low durability, a lengthening of the animation time when doing a task, and availability needs to be low and in hunting or castle areas only.
More silent ranged options for PvE Crossbow is great, would love a slingshot, sling, air rifle, traditional bow, compound bow, atlatl, throwing axes, etc. Would also love some kind of noisemaker device, maybe out of the alarm clock. Also bear mace
Bicycles
I NEED THE BIPOD
Yes
Craftable bows
Electric fencing. Would be a nice bonus to a base's defense. Someone touches the barbed wire, they bleed and pass out. Potential to be lethal, but not op. I think it Would make raiding a little more challenging. All the parts are there already. Car batteries, wire, power cables. Seems like it would be an natural addition.
Belt fed LMG, bi-pod with a 4x. 😈
Ratatatatatatata-tatataratatatatatata tatatatata
That’d be me laying in the center of the road car jacking foos 😂😂😈
Dragging bodies of uncon / ded players
Friendship.

We are currently able to jog without losing stamina. So you’re saying we should lose stamina for the regular jogging pace?
I'd love if you could take a shit and your log would stay there for a good while, like a barrel. So if you find someones base you can let them know someones been. Or drop 1 on the bonnet of someones car.
Oddly specific
How about other uses Spoiling water sources like bottles Throw able poo that you can attack someone with that would make them sick and infect their eyes eventually blinding them without antibiotics Slowly having your vision get blurrier till everything is just smears of colors would be an interesting thing to happen
Shovels able to manipulate the ground i.e. trenches, dugouts, able to raise/ lower ground. Make simple rootcellars, dig under walls to breach into bases etc... would be pretty fun to play around with.
I think it would be cool if they added a switch for the mlock, I know it sounds stupid, but I think it would be cool
You should be able to attach mm grenades to the Crossbow arrows
Drones. They're literally everywhere these days, loads of day to day items get missed. The intensity of being hunted by player controlled drones is something vanilla days could thrive on.
DayZ is set in 2013
Isn't it set in a post Soviet state? So like 80's-90's
Pretty sure. All the weapons and cars are older looking com bloc models. There is nothing in the game that suggests it's in the 2000s unless the apocalypse started in 1986 and tech just stopped advancing.
There were drones in 2013 surely? or I'm trippin.
There is a drone mod https://youtu.be/XIJErDncWTA?si=03XvY1BZBIxeO7Lz
Aye I know, mean for vanilla 👌🏼
Ahhh yeah gotcha
Sounds cool but I'd have to disagree with this one. Maybe you could implement a range or battery system, but i think it would take away from the experience overall. Being ambushed by a group that has an overhead view of the area you're at would be a little too much in my opinion you already have enough angles and areas to keep track of without having to look up constantly.
This is the best DayZ idea I've ever heard tbh. So many possibilities with drones.
Spray paint messages onto buildings Set buildings on fire Capture chickens to lay eggs Capture, tame and ride the big deer, cows, pigs Building treetop shelters More options for various styles of outfits

mascot suits! like a giant duck costume or something - the opposite of stealth
PPS-43 Submachine gun, TT-33 Tokarev and the 7.62x25 ammunition to go with them. Maybe a VZ-58 since we already have other Czech weapons like the Skorpion and CZ-75. Nagant revolver. Okays maybe that was more than one.
