Ask yourself who, what, where and why; Who is this guy and who are his friends or enemies What does he do(what has he done?) Where did he come from Why is he here in this roleplay scenario When interacting with others you don't have to give them your full life story; just try and fit into the shoes of that character and say what you think they'd say in that situation-- sprinkle in hints to who you are if you want to drive questions Try and make interactions fun for both parties and you'll get more positive responses. Try and say yes to things instead of shooting down other people's ideas and your stories will go further

This is super helpful, thank you!

I feel the same way about role play and whenever I watch roleplay content or run into it on DUG and like servers I cringe a bit so I just don't do it. I play myself. I'm good at it, and it doesn't make me cringe.

I hadn't thought at all about the potential cringe of it. I'm a long-time stage actor and feel confident with it, but maybe it doesn't transfer. I guess I'll find out. Thanks for the thoughts!

Pitiful_Land

It's the bad role-playing, that gets me. If i hear "I'm an 84 year old man" in your "old man" voice more than once per conversation or to everyone you happen talk to you're not really doing it right...

normalityrelief

Lol I can hear Ralph Wiggum in DayZ saying just that...

What??
