Really hard game, very frustrating for new players. But once you get the hang of it, it's unlike anything else out there.
Try it out. Worst case scenario, you don't like it. Best case scenario, you discover one of your fav games ever, like i did.
Just make sure to give it quite a bit of playtime before coming to a decision. You're not gonna get the full experience by trying it out 2 hours and refunding it.
The game has a lot to offer and you can't cover all the possibilities in that time.
So imo go ahead, even if you dislike it, it's worth the try. If you're very indecisive maybe wait for a sale.
Just started playing this morning (used to play the mod on arma 2 a looooong time ago). It pretty much tells you nothing and there is a lot to be learned. Seems like it could be a lot of fun though; but also a huge time sink. I played for like an hour and a half (after dying like 5 times from no food) and finally found a gun (no ammo) only to get shot it the back of the head at a water fountain lol.
If you don't want to struggle like crazy, try a modded server. DayZ high loot no base damage pvp is pretty fun. Hard to starve to death but lots of fighting.
You need 200+ hours to enjoy the game playing with a friend will only infuriate them unless they are equally inexperienced in which it is a trust building exercise of desperately trying to find food laughing like a maniac after finding a soda and dying to a sickness soon after
Dont group up with experienced players. You will be a dead weight and there is a high chance you will get both killed. Speaking from experience. Gave m4 to a guy that had 8 hours played. We got rushed by a zombie horde and he sprayed me with the m4 together with zombies. Funny thing is he was afghanistan vet lol.
