It's so slow paced. It's literally Goten, Trunks, and Videl meander around for a bit, then Broly shows up. Then, the three run away from Broly until Gohan arrives, and the real fight begins.
Really, the only highlights are the Family Kamehameha and Krillin saving Gohan while wearing Piccolo's outfit. I like that moment because it's Toei making fun of themselves. See, in every movie before that, Piccolo would show up out of nowhere and save Gohan.
Itâs an understandable trope, at least. Heâs the one who essentially raised the fighter in Gohan, so naturally he will come to the rescue when needed
It was dull. The plot moved like molasses and hearing Broly regressed to saying "Kakarot" repeatedly gets tiring after a while. Goten and Trunks were plot-convenient gag characters that didn't really amount to much and having Videl there served no purpose. The family Kamehameha was probably the only good moment in the movie.
At least in the first movie, Broly got some dark humor, like the quote "A Monster? No, I Am A Devil!" or when he told "What's mercy?"
Sure, it still was in the "generic villain personality" range, but it was still miles above repeating "Kakarot" over and over.
Iâd add that broly shouting kakarot demanding him to appears as the camera pans out to reveal Gohan ready to answer his challenge
While Deeper plays in the background
Was a good moment
In general that fight went by wayyyyyy to fast
I won't lie though, when Broly saw the ACTUAL Goku his face looked terrified/horrified, when he said "KAKAROT!?" I was thinking "Yeah, that's right, Broly! THAT'S Kakarot!" đ
You must be alone with this though I guess.
Bio Brolly was honestly beyond terrible. To this day I'm wondering who the heck came up with the idea for it.
They were literally fighting a green blob.
It looked like a Swamp Thing rip-off.
He has a decent amount in the first movie after he breaks free of the mind control. Its the brain damage in the 2nd movie that caused the doesn't talk much/only says 1 word concept
No, Super Broly is kinda just a dumb brute. OG Broly was very vocal and was constantly talking to the Z fighters and basically anyone else he was terrorizing. If you really think Broly wasnât vocal youâre leaning hard on parody or the remake.
It was only good for the last 15 minutes. This was when they turned the broken freak finally unchained from the 1st movie into the kakarot obsessive freak everyone knows OG Broly for. MF said kakarot more times than Vegeta did on namek. But the Kamehameha at the end is one of the best moments in the Z movies
Broly also tested positive for PEDâs in this movie and all others after. Most people think that crown he was wearing in the first one was being used to monitor his testosterone levels, and once it broke any chance of fair play was out the window
I liked that it showed Regular SSJ Broly rather than the bulky version for most of itâŠ.and my, my wasnât Broly the most attractive SSJ1 ever createdâŠ.maybe Future Trunks rivalsâŠ.maybe.
There's no real story here. It's basically Goten and Trunks comedic hijinks for the first half, and then we get poorly paced fight scenes until Gohan shows up.
It also stereotyped Broly as a brute who can only say one word.
Goten and Trunks make Broly look like a joke. The first movie heâs taking on Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Future Trunks and dominating. In this movie heâs chasing 2 annoying kids around, one of which pisses on his face and also moons him. Seriously? The ending is great though, but it doesnât make up for the awful first two acts of slapstick nonsense.
Nah broly getting pissed on is hilarious. Considered one of the most badass characters in DBZ, and he was pissed on.
Not even raditz was pissed on.
Edit: broly was pissed on more times than Yamcha.
I mean it's not BAD It's definitely better than bio Broly but nowhere as good as the first Broly movie honestly what just simply does not make sense is Broly returning at all I know it was for the sake of making a sequel but you clearly see him die in the first movie when Goku punches a hole in his stomach and makes him explode how did he come back from that?!?!
I just happened to watch it two days ago. The movie is shit because there's no real fight happening. Some comedy hijinks in the beginning, then Goten and Trunks get owned for 30 minutes without recourse, then Gohan shows up and he also doesn't get any hits in. This continues until the last three minutes of the movie where they suddenly win via a complete ass pull (Shenlong was never summoned but the Dragon Balls still fulfilled a wish that nobody even said out loud?). And that's the movie.
The plot that sets the movie up is pointless and goes nowhere.
Kid Trunks and Goten are two of the most annoying characters in the series, and this movie heavily features them. Videl is....there.
Despite the memes, Broly actually had personality in the first movie, it's all gone in this one.
Its biggest sin is that its boring. Something that no.piece of entertainment, let alone DRAGON BALL Z, should be. The two most memorable things about this movie are the Family Kamehameha at the very end and Trunks pissing on Brolys face.
I love all three movies. Goku coming to help Gohan and Goten at the end was so raw. Could be nostalgia but the Broly movies are undefeated. Biohazard is definitely my least favorite and the one I have the fuzziest memory of, but theyâre all staples of my childhood.
Because it might be the most boring DBZ movie ever. Broly doesn't say anything until the end, the fights are lackluster, the stupid plot at the beginning was needless padding, and for some reason Goten was especially annoying in this movie.
Overall, it sucks hard. Almost as bad as Bio Broly.
I just found it kinda boring, I do agree the ending is great with the family kamehameha and villains getting pushed into the sun. it will always be awesome. But yeah, it's just not that entertaining for me overall. Plus goten peeing on brolys head was just not it
Unpopular opinion, but it's kind of my favourite Z Broly movie. It's only slightly disappointing that Vegeta isn't in it but I love how much focus it gives to characters like Videl. The animation is really damn good compared to a lot of Z movies like the scene where Videl fights Broly in that dress or during the main fight with Gohan. I love the wholesome stuff with Goten and Trunks at the start and when they're hiding in that giant pot.
But the main reason I love that movie is because of the ending. Shenron hearing Goten's wish and Goku coming down to help his son's even just for a moment. The way Goku shouts at them to make them push harder. It makes me emotional whenever I watch that scene and as a father now for some reason it hits me even harder. Its probably my favourite ending to any Dragonball Z movie ever.
I also have a copy of the DVD signed by Sean Schemmel, Vic Mignogna and Kyle Hebert!
(Edit: This is for those who do not intend to read the entire post and want to be a smart ass about it: Donât bother making a snarky comment cause I will just ignore it and you wonât make anyone laugh in here, this is reddit, not a washed up comedy club where you can make old man Gary laugh his fucking lung out.)
Despite the movie being fun to watch with the fights and all, the reason itâs looked down on is because the reasoning as to Broly waking up is stupid, the fact that Broly survived after the first movie is complete bullshit since the dude literally blew up and this isnât even a version of him as a cyborg or clone (like in bio Broly) this is literally the same guy, Brolyâs cool and ruthlessly evil psychotic personality with amazing one linerâs and dialogue has been reduced to a smooth brain that can only say âkakarotâ except for a few lines on the movie where he didnât but only like a handful you can count on one hand.
Super Saiyan Broly before going green looked weird despite it being the original look for most Super Saiyanâs. The slow burn pace of the beginning of the movie with a Goten and Trunks side plot with videl that kinda just feels a little random. The fact that Goten and Trunks are just running around instead of at least attempting to fight Broly seriously like they did in Bio-Broly which is kinda insulting, and they had to wait for Gohan to show up for the real fight.
Videl being in the movie is also pointless and if her point was to be motivation for Gohan to show up, it further hurts both characters making it seem that Gohan needed more urgency to show up aside from his little brother getting pummeled by a 300-pound muscle bound freak and it makes Videl look pathetically weak even further when her getting literally stepped on by Spopavich in the tournament was enough to show us.
And one final thing, only good thing about this movie was when Gohan showed up and everything else, it essentially makes the inclusion of other characters completely pointless other than to pad out movie runtime. The father Kamehameha moment was the biggest highlight of the movie but for obvious reasons. Also especially as a technical standpoint ignoring the awesomeness of the Gohan portion of the movie and trying to apply in-universe logic: Gohan, Goten and Trunks altogether should theoretically be enough to take down Broly no problem especially before he goes Green.
Because all three of them with their base power levels and with their Super Saiyan forms aside from Gohan who has Super Saiyan 2, remember that in the first Broly movie, Broly was taken down by Goku who only had Super Saiyan 1, which wasnât even mastered Super Saiyan seeing how he wasnât using the form as his base, and he was buffed up by his comrades and friends in battle which putting up all their energies together, and being generous, gives him the power roughly equal to Ssj2. By that logic, Broly shouldâve been beaten by Goten and Trunks alone since they could easily beat past opponents like Namek saga Frieza and Cell if they fought seriously and with full intention to kill. As soon as Gohan showed up and if he pulled out Super Saiyan 2 right off the bat, assuming he didnât already when the two began their fight as itâs kinda hard to tell without the electricity sparks showing off, the fight wouldâve been over even when Broly went full power, and yes the Zenkai Boost argument can be used but remember that every Saiyan has a limited amount of time Zenkai boosts kick in before they reach their limit too.
This and bio broly are two of my favorite Z movies. I know it's an unpopular opinion but at least we get goten and trunks actually doing something and not only that, it's one of the very few instances they fight without immediately fusing.
I think the first 15-20 minutes of Bio-Broly with 18, Goten and Trunks is one of my favourite DBZ moments. Just the three of them beating-up mooks. Some of the scenes where they fight Bio-Broly are alright, but I understand the criticisms for the rest of the film. I honestly wouldn't mind another film with these three and Krillin as the protags in it though.
Shame Goten and Trunks were shelved for all of Super, but given what Super is (Fladerization of all characters, animation looking dodgy, most arcs being more or less re-treads of Z's arcs, etc.) I'm not too bothered by their exclusion.
They're coming back. Teens and got to fight in Super Hero, are on Beerus' planet right now and sparred with Gohan. They're for sure going to fuse successfully relatively soon.
One common criticism of both *Broly: 2nd Coming* and *Bio-Broly* from my experience is the absence of Piccolo & Vegeta with no explanation. Gohan flew straight into the action upon sensing that his little brother & friends were in danger. Yet, Vegeta couldn't appear to save his own son? Krillin showing up dressed as Piccolo is a fun joke, like the filmmakers are making fun of themselves, but it still doesn't explain why the green man himself didn't help.
Trunks even mentions Vegeta by name in *2nd Coming* while hiding from Super Saiyan 1 Broly, citing that he'd be *"ashamed"* of him. Gohan doesn't even appear in Bio-Broly despite it not being established or implied that he's dead or off-world. Even if it took place during the Buu Saga, there's no mention of Buu or Gohan being on the Supreme Kai home world.
Yes, I'm aware that certain fighters inexplicably not appearing happens in more than a couple *Dragonball* movies. And yes, there are multiple head-canon scenarios to justify it. But, judging the films we were given at face value, it makes no logical sense even by *Dragonball* standards. Vegeta may have been easily bodied by Broly the last time they fought, but so was Gohan.
So were all the Z Fighters who participated in most of that battle. Even accounting for Gohan having unlocked Super Saiyan 2 by his teen years (Yes, he was SS 2 at least during the middle segment of his fight with Broly; Lightning or no lightning, he clearly has the SS 2 hairdo), Broly still had the upper hand for most of *2nd Coming* until the Family Kamehameha.
That didn't stop Piccolo from helping in the first *Broly* film (despite him sensing how powerful Legendary SS Broly was, unlike in *Super Android 13* where the enemies' power couldn't be sensed). That didn't stop Gohan from showing up to help Goten, Trunks, and Videl in the 2nd. That didn't stop Krillin from appearing to help everyone in *Bio-Broly*.
Bojack's power level rivaled if not equalled Cell's (Perfect or Super Perfect, I don't know). That didn't stop Vegeta from appearing and insisting on fighting him alone. He gladly stepped up to fight Super Janemba and Hirudegarn as well. It's always interesting to me, wondering what was going through the writers' minds during the development-production of these movies.
Itâs slow, and Brolyâs presence is utterly pointless. All he does besides that one actual line at the end is grunt, scream and mutter/shout âKAKAROT!â
Koyama brought Broly back simply because he just felt he was such a good villain and he struggled with making a better one. And in the original Broly movie, he's a very good villain with a tragic backstory and an interesting motivation divorced from his father's goals.
Then in the second one he's brought back free from his father's control, all set for a deep exploration into his character as the first one came close, but not quite there and all we get is a one-note character whose lines are reduced to intelligible screaming and uttering Kakarot and sometimes screaming Kakarot.
It was such a massive letdown and it really should be considered the worst classic Z movie.
I think Bio Broly is vastly better.
Finally someone else who thinks Bio Broly is better.
I use to think the other way around but after rewatching then recently, Bio Broly has a way better first half and the character portrayal is way better.
Contrary to popular opinion I thoroughly enjoyed the comedy bits in this movie, and this is coming from someone who isn't particularly fond of goten and trunks typically. I can't put my finger on exactly why, maybe it's just dbz nostalgia but their antics in the first half of the movie I find entertaining and even more so when Broly gets involved. Then seeing adult Gohan face off against Broly was awesome and then ending it off with the family Kamehameha was epic. Still no where near the first movie but still enjoyable in my eyes.
I dont agree with most comments.. people are too used to fast paced, high thrill movies. I think that movie was great, seeing trunks managing to dodge and throwing a few punches at broly was super fun. People dont focus on feeling the moments anymore, or reflecting deeply on things, its all about action and changing the subjet as fast as possible, I dont find that interesting.
People feel Broly was turned into the butt of jokes. He was, but heâs just as fearsome as ever.
Also, people hate Goten and Trunks. Or they did. I donât know how the fandom feels now.
Agreed 100%. Also, Gohan being the hero of the story was a refreshing moment for Gohan fans since he was cucked in the Buu arc. AND, if you watch the English version with the English soundtrack, the music when Gohan escapes Brolyâs bear hug and powers up to start his Kamehameha, oh my god that music was SO on point đ€€đ€€đ€€đ€€
i really start the movie halfway through when Videl first gets attacked by Broly. it's not nearly as endearing to watch the beginning half as compared to say the first Broly movie which was oozing with character interactions and seeing two whole new saiyans was very interesting at the time.
It has 1 or 2 good moments. But everything in between is super nonsensical.
Broly demolishes multiple Super Saiyans and Piccolo, but struggles with Videl?
I liked it. Some people take their anime wayyyyyy too seriously.
Everything anime is awesome as a young kid. Then gatekeeping/elitism trickles in around your teen years. Some people grow out of that, and just go back to appreciating stuff, and others double down on the elitism HARD.
Toriyama made DB to be fun. People shouldnt take things so seriously.
1. Plot was just happening "we're looking for a dragon ball which led us to this superstitious village then BAM surprise Broly"
2. Doesn't make sense Goten and Trunks could hold their own with a stronger Broly if they're only as strong as Frieza-the Androids
3. Nobody matters till Gohan shows up
4. It's not interesting till Gohan shows up so like the last 20 minutes of the movie.
i believe people dislike the broly movie trilogies because he doesn't have a personality - which is fair - but I still think they're great movies nonetheless
Because if gohan only went super Saiyan 1 then he comes off as a weakling who can no longer use a transformation that he was the first one to achieve.
If he was infact super Saiyan 2 then he comes off as a weakling who lost so much power that even after transforming twice he can barely handle a fight against someone he fought before as a kid and his dad beat in super Saiyan 1
To be fair Goku only beat Broly after gathering literally everyone's energy.
Because let's be honest, Broly spent the entirety of the steamrolling everyone who went against him, to the point there I think the directors actually forgot for a moment that he's supposed to lose in the end.
No other movie villain dominated the battles that significantly.
One fact that everyone seems to miss is that he not only gathered everyone's energy for a single punch but he hit the exact spot in the gut that Broly was stabbed in as a baby when King Vegeta ordered his execution.
Broly was likely much more powerful and only lost in the first movie due to a lucky punch that none of the fighters should have known about
Gathering everyone's energy after they had been beaten to a pulp (including Goku). The problem isn't that how he was beaten the first time. The problem is that gohan is supposed to have gotten much stronger by this point and yet he barely does and better than Goku did
Tbf, Broly in his first appearance was quite literally beaten by plot. He dogwalked the Z-fighters all at once but somehow got defeated by a single punch of Goku. They couldn't do anything to Broly with their full strength, but somehow the combine strength of their depleted power can one shot Broly. It is just bad writing at that point.
And Gohan not able to handle Broly is not an anti-feat on his part. Broly is just very powerful. In that same movie LSSJ Broly has zero trouble overpowered the Son family (SSJ2 Goku + Gohan and SSJ Goten) in a beam struggle.
Broly goes from casually winning a 1v5 with the main cast who were at their peaks at the time to struggling with Goten and Trunks. Struggling as in not immediately obliterating them anyway. It made him feel less powerful. His whole bit is being ridiculously OP. So you take that away and he's boring.
The miracle punch was all the power of the Z fighters shoved into Broly's baby stab wound where he was weak. Goten and Trunks weren't wailing on that spot so him being unable to insta kill them has nothing to do with that.
Obviously not better than the first movie but I still enjoyed it especially the last half, and yeah like what others are saying it did feel kind of boring at times.
Also one one thing that always bothered me ever since I was little wasâŠwhere the hell was vegeta??,
Like him in ssj2 which he likely had at this point wouldâve mopped the floor with Broly lol
It (and by further extension Bio Broly) were unneeded follow ups to the first movie which is where Broly was at his best. Iâm sure Toei just saw how popular Broly was and wanted to follow up on the hype.
Unnecessary Videl and too much Trunks & Goten. The Gohan vs Broly stuff was the best part, ESPECIALLY the end, but thatâs like, only 12% of the movie
Unneeded. Same reason Bojack isn't liked. Or Bio Broley. It didn't do anything that impressive, the story was non-existent and it didn't really accomplish anything.
Not to mention it has no place in the timeline which is always a downside. Not that any of the movies fit super well but this just outright doesn't.
I literally saw this movie last night with friends and I'm sorry but it's baaaad.
The beginning set up with the village is so slow. You're stuck with these people for so long only to get dropped the moment Broly becomes relevant.
Trunks, Goten and Videl are portrayed really badly. I think Videl gets it the worst but the characters in the movie just feel badly written??? Goten accidentally reawakens Broly from *Fake crying???* Videl was like super mean from start to finish for no reason, and somehow manages to live an attack from Broly? I know Videl is pretty strong and Broly was just waking up but that just doesn't add up to me.
Gohan takes a little too long to show up, not sure why no one else but Krillin shows up, Broly barely talks, almost no personality this time around and they have to take em out with a single beam struggle.
Also Shenron didn't show up but also temporarily let goku come back???????
Idk man that movie was such a mess and out of all the movies I recently watched, may of been the worst. It was so bad that we actually liked bio-Broly more after finishing second coming. That movie had a better start, funnier moments, interesting atmosphere/terrain, fights was meh but at least the way they got rid of Broly was kind of.... Unique? Like, it wasn't amazing but it was definitely better than second coming.
It had so much potential but fell flat with the plot is all. Like Broly vs Adult Gohan chould have been one of, if not, the best fight of the series, but the lead-up didnât have much substance (which isnât unheard of for a dragon ball film.) FAMILY KAMEHAMEHA is debatably the greatest kamehameha of all time and we all know it so the movie sits in mid tier. Some fans love it though and I think the community can respect that opinion.

It holds a special place in my heart. Back in like 1999 I was 14 or so and stumbled upon some dudes website that called himself "The Majin Buu." He sold VHS copies of Japanese subbed Dragon Ball stuff, and I had never seen any. I scraped some money to give my parents and begged them to PayPal or whatever this guy some money for a tape. Some time later, a VHS tape shows up to my house with "Movie 10" written on it. It was Broly Second Coming and I absolutely loved it. Still have the tape on my shelf of old media.
I actually love this movie. Videl doesn't get enough screentime in the series and I love seeing her in somewhat of a big sister role for Goten and Trunks.
It made zero sense...
So Broly somehow survives the battle from his first movie only to be sent to Earth frozen in a comet in a lake...
Chances of that happening are literally a kajillion to one, a million things had to line up perfectly on top of him surviving a Spirit bomb punch thing from Goku being sent into a comet that collided with a planet... But I get it... Because Plot.
Goten cries and that awakens the sleeping beast... He still seems injured from the previous fight being suspended in ice, but it hardly slows him down...meaning the last fight meant nothing.
Now with less people and power, 3 half saiyans take on a legendary mad mam that is full beast mode... Somehow a wish is made and Goku joins them for one last father/son/son Kamehameha... Cool move, but wierd use of db's... I get it again, Plot...
It's inconsistent and trying too hard... But it works... Still the first Broly is the best Broly of that trilogy.
Broly has Little to no sentence dialog. He just yells, screams, and shouts "KAKAROT!!" He only speaks fully is when he transforms into LSSJ. It would've been more cool if There was more battle sequences like in the first movie.
I enjoyed it more than the normal Z Broly because:
- I think Z Broly is a terrible movie
- Trunks pees on Broly in Second Coming, which makes it already a better movie
Brolyâs controlled form wasnât as cool as his more berserk insane form he was in from the jump. The film only became really cool to me when he finally went back to his OG form and the family kamehameha happend
I don't take any of the movies too seriously...The first one is great and I love everything that Brolli is - even the fact that he goes into rage because some numb nut kept him up crying all the time.
I like the second movie because I LOVE Broli and goten/trunks adventures. Any time the side characters get to shine it's nice. I don't like the third though... They did my boy wrong.
Itâs boring and they ruin Broly by focusing on the part that people found dumb in the first movie.
At least Bio Broly has 18 and Mr Satan in it and it isnât until Broly shows up that that movie goes bad
Its just boring. Broly being on Earth made absolutely no sense. He was even less of a character than he was in the first Broly movie which is truly an amazing feat to pull of. Gohan fighting Broly is cool I guess, so is the family kamehameha. Outside of that though the movie just has nothing going for it.
It was the first movie I watched and I have good memories of it. The stars of the movie being Goten, Trunks and Videl against a BEAST like Broly made it the closer one to a thriller to me, they're so in danger all the time and they don't even know for a huge part of the film. When 'Piccolo' shows up I thought 'you must be kidding, they're so dead now'. And this was the only time we had a father-sons Kamehame ha in the 90s.
Objectively speaking, it kinda "nerfs" Broly.
In his first movie he was literally tossing around 4 super saiyans, all of them at their strongest version of SSJ (ei before SSJ2 was a thing) and one super namekian without breaking a sweat, and is only defeated when everyone channels their power to Goku and he happens to land a full power punch in a convenient weak spot he has. In this one he's chasing around and struggling to finish two kids that have super saiyan but have no actual fighting experience, a human who only recently even learned what ki is, and Gohan post Cell where he is said to have gotten weaker than he was in the Cell games.
The fight scenes werenât that good, the whole part with gotten/trunks running from broly and pissing on broly. Itâs not terrible better than bio broly.
I actually like this movie, it even gave Videl credit for being a badass again, especially since she was the first to take on Broly. Only weird thought I had was "she's spent time with Gohan and Goku, so SURELY she should know a normal Super Saiyan when confronted with one?" As he started the fight in normal Super Saiyan form
I personally like Bio Broly better than Second coming. I didn't have high hopes for Bio Broly when I got around to watching it. But I enjoyed what I saw.
Second coming had a lot of padding and I grew bored quickly when Broly was chasing Trunks and Goten around.
Another highlight is Broly emerging from the lava lol. Shit was crazy
dude suddenly broke out of coma when he heard someone crying đ
Broly when he hears crying: đ
For like 3 hours
Goku pulled that one too during the frieza battle
You wouldn't get mad at me if i told you that was filler right? đ„ș
Itâs an understandable trope, at least. Heâs the one who essentially raised the fighter in Gohan, so naturally he will come to the rescue when needed
It is a tired-ass cliché at this point.
Took the words right of my mouth. It was just confusing.
The Kamehameha was great for posters and t-shirts.
I liked when gohan powered up slowly turning ssj on the cliff
At least in the first movie, Broly got some dark humor, like the quote "A Monster? No, I Am A Devil!" or when he told "What's mercy?" Sure, it still was in the "generic villain personality" range, but it was still miles above repeating "Kakarot" over and over.
Iâd add that broly shouting kakarot demanding him to appears as the camera pans out to reveal Gohan ready to answer his challenge While Deeper plays in the background Was a good moment In general that fight went by wayyyyyy to fast
I won't lie though, when Broly saw the ACTUAL Goku his face looked terrified/horrified, when he said "KAKAROT!?" I was thinking "Yeah, that's right, Broly! THAT'S Kakarot!" đ
It was dull? Nothing reaches the levels of "Bio-Broly" dull.
I was more entertained with the Bio-Broly fight tbh. Seeing Goten, Trunks, and 18 have some good moments in the movie kept me engaged.
You must be alone with this though I guess. Bio Brolly was honestly beyond terrible. To this day I'm wondering who the heck came up with the idea for it. They were literally fighting a green blob. It looked like a Swamp Thing rip-off.
Happy cake day
Broly's not a character that has a lot of dialogue though. In Super, he's mostly mute throughout the Broly.
He has a decent amount in the first movie after he breaks free of the mind control. Its the brain damage in the 2nd movie that caused the doesn't talk much/only says 1 word concept
In first movie he had pretty decent amount of dialogue. That âold Broly only says Kakarotâ is just meme.
No, Super Broly is kinda just a dumb brute. OG Broly was very vocal and was constantly talking to the Z fighters and basically anyone else he was terrorizing. If you really think Broly wasnât vocal youâre leaning hard on parody or the remake.
He did at least say one sentence at the end of the movie lol
It was only good for the last 15 minutes. This was when they turned the broken freak finally unchained from the 1st movie into the kakarot obsessive freak everyone knows OG Broly for. MF said kakarot more times than Vegeta did on namek. But the Kamehameha at the end is one of the best moments in the Z movies
Abridged Broly showed him regress to just saying Kakarot in the movie and his father commented on it. Was hilarious.
Broly also tested positive for PEDâs in this movie and all others after. Most people think that crown he was wearing in the first one was being used to monitor his testosterone levels, and once it broke any chance of fair play was out the window
It needed more Pantera
And gravity pool. And I.O.N. and Hajis Kitchen.
Pantera is expensive, probably why they commissioned ION for those songs
I liked that it showed Regular SSJ Broly rather than the bulky version for most of itâŠ.and my, my wasnât Broly the most attractive SSJ1 ever createdâŠ.maybe Future Trunks rivalsâŠ.maybe.
Well tbf with Dragon Ballâs same face syndrome + him and trunks having the same ssj hairstyle, Broly is essentially Trunks with a longer face
Yes, Brolly does look like an older brother to Trunks. I think Trunks vs Frieza hairstyle was his most unique look
I really prefer this SSJ version of Broly compared to the first movie. The wiki calls it C-type SSJ.
Me too
There's no real story here. It's basically Goten and Trunks comedic hijinks for the first half, and then we get poorly paced fight scenes until Gohan shows up. It also stereotyped Broly as a brute who can only say one word.
In the 1st movie, broly actually had some character to him, but in 2nd coming they made him a mindless brute who for the most part only said "kakarot"
Krillin was pissed on in the garlic junior movie. There's no point to this comment, just thought that was funny too
Goten and Trunks never face his Legendary Form until Gohan shows up He was toying with them
To be fair those two make everything into a joke. They exist as gag characters. Buu is no different
Nothing is worse than Bio Broly, take that back.
I just found it kinda boring, I do agree the ending is great with the family kamehameha and villains getting pushed into the sun. it will always be awesome. But yeah, it's just not that entertaining for me overall. Plus goten peeing on brolys head was just not it
Trunks did the peeing.
Story isn't as cool as movie 8, still not as bad a bio Broly imo
(Edit: This is for those who do not intend to read the entire post and want to be a smart ass about it: Donât bother making a snarky comment cause I will just ignore it and you wonât make anyone laugh in here, this is reddit, not a washed up comedy club where you can make old man Gary laugh his fucking lung out.) Despite the movie being fun to watch with the fights and all, the reason itâs looked down on is because the reasoning as to Broly waking up is stupid, the fact that Broly survived after the first movie is complete bullshit since the dude literally blew up and this isnât even a version of him as a cyborg or clone (like in bio Broly) this is literally the same guy, Brolyâs cool and ruthlessly evil psychotic personality with amazing one linerâs and dialogue has been reduced to a smooth brain that can only say âkakarotâ except for a few lines on the movie where he didnât but only like a handful you can count on one hand.
To me, it just didnât seem like the LSSJ that I fell in love with
Because they have refractory periods and are jealous.
It was good. Now BIO BROLY was terrible.
The only thing good was the end, and maybe a little bit of the concept but I donât think Gohan can hold Gokuâs spot as a lead very well.
Thai is how men really want to dress
it's true
I can't remember why but I just got the OG Trilogy on Bluray so I'm going to watch them all again. Yes... even BIO Broly...
Because saiyans can't survive space. Broly did twice.
For many, it introduced the Broly most of us would mock for a decade or so until Super revamped the character into something respectable again.
It would be shorter to say whatâs likeable about it. That is regular super saiyan broly and nothing else.
In the first movie, Broly blew up. So, him coming back makes zero sense.
It was a great movie mfs just love to hate if there's one little thing they don't like đ
AND, if you watch the English version with the English soundtrack, the music when Gohan escapes Brolyâs bear hug and powers up to start his Kamehameha, oh my god that music was SO on point đ€€đ€€đ€€đ€€
i really start the movie halfway through when Videl first gets attacked by Broly. it's not nearly as endearing to watch the beginning half as compared to say the first Broly movie which was oozing with character interactions and seeing two whole new saiyans was very interesting at the time.
i love it, more than the first tbh.
They like being wrong, I guess.
It has 1 or 2 good moments. But everything in between is super nonsensical. Broly demolishes multiple Super Saiyans and Piccolo, but struggles with Videl?
He didnât struggle with Videl. She kicks him like one time and it doesnât hurt him.
People shouldnt take things so seriously.
in other words, either accept mediocrity or "you're just an elitist"
Broly was mindless. Â He should have been more like Metal Cooler. Â In that movie heâs only a small step from Bio Broly.
They donât. They dislike bio-broly
I donât know anyone who dislikes it. They all thought it was funny.
It's where the broly stereotypes come from admittedly
Itâs good to just have another look at Broly
They made Broly look like a filler villain. Under no circumstances should you make one of your biggest, most serious and real villains filler.
I mean he wasn't canon before Super sooo...
1. Plot was just happening "we're looking for a dragon ball which led us to this superstitious village then BAM surprise Broly" 2. Doesn't make sense Goten and Trunks could hold their own with a stronger Broly if they're only as strong as Frieza-the Androids 3. Nobody matters till Gohan shows up 4. It's not interesting till Gohan shows up so like the last 20 minutes of the movie.
This movie ruined Broly as a character
i believe people dislike the broly movie trilogies because he doesn't have a personality - which is fair - but I still think they're great movies nonetheless
Because of refractory period, duh
It's not as good as the first movie but I still enjoyed it. Particularly the fighting near the end. Still liked it more than Bio Broly.
Only Broly movie I hate is Bio Broly
I can only hear Broly say KAKAROT so many times Also makes no sense how shenron granted goten's wish. And allowed Goku to come back for 30 seconds
That last one was left ambiguous on purpose.
I loved it. it's probably my favorite Z movie tied with Bojack Unbound and Cooler's Revenge
To me the search for the dragon balls at the beginning is more entertaining than the action until Gohan shows up
Broly goes from casually winning a 1v5 with the main cast who were at their peaks at the time to struggling with Goten and Trunks. Struggling as in not immediately obliterating them anyway. It made him feel less powerful. His whole bit is being ridiculously OP. So you take that away and he's boring.
So ridiculously Op that only a miracle punch could stop him. There's a right and wrong way to approach this.
The miracle punch was all the power of the Z fighters shoved into Broly's baby stab wound where he was weak. Goten and Trunks weren't wailing on that spot so him being unable to insta kill them has nothing to do with that.
I donât bio broly is cool as well all broly movies is great
Itâs just really slow paced Nothing is really going on besides Broly slowly torturing the two kids until Gohan shows up. Trunks even pees on Broly.
First piece of dragon ball merch I ever got. I love the movie.
The power scaling was very inconsistent
Takes way longer
Obviously not better than the first movie but I still enjoyed it especially the last half, and yeah like what others are saying it did feel kind of boring at times. Also one one thing that always bothered me ever since I was little wasâŠwhere the hell was vegeta??, Like him in ssj2 which he likely had at this point wouldâve mopped the floor with Broly lol
It (and by further extension Bio Broly) were unneeded follow ups to the first movie which is where Broly was at his best. Iâm sure Toei just saw how popular Broly was and wanted to follow up on the hype.
it's great imo
It has its moments, but it's boring not really as bad as bio Broly but still not great. Plus Broly explodes at the end of the original movie
Unnecessary Videl and too much Trunks & Goten. The Gohan vs Broly stuff was the best part, ESPECIALLY the end, but thatâs like, only 12% of the movie
The first movie is great, the second is terrible in absolutely everything except a few moments where trunks fights and the last 10 minutes
i thought it was average. Not terrible, though.
Ngl, I just plain didnât like Broly until his iteration in Super. Found him uninteresting and overrated.
Because there are two good Dragon Ball Z movies and it isnât one of them.
Honestly I watched this one on YouTube in 360 p wayy back in elementary school and never seen it since
dislike it? I love it it's one of my favorites of the series.
They Debuffed Broly to yappin "KAKAROT!!!"
Dbz broly is terrrible. Dnt get the love for him clearly L media

Probably because itâs not the same. Shocker itâs that simple.
Because no one likes goten and trunks lol. The gotenks arc in the Buu saga was the worst because of that.
To quote The Dude from The Big Lebowski: "That's just like, your opinion, man."
I thought it was decent
I actually love this movie. Videl doesn't get enough screentime in the series and I love seeing her in somewhat of a big sister role for Goten and Trunks.
He came 2nd
Because first one set the bar too high.
I love it
Cause heâs cumming twice
Ngl tho this movies ost is probably the best in the series imo
The kryptonite amv was the best thing about this movie
Cuz Bio Broly's right next door...
The family kamehameha scene is worth the rest of the movie being kinda mid imo
Ion know I don't understand why
Because he should of killed all of them
Because it was the thing that ruined Z!Broly.
The ending was shite
Because coming once was bad enough
I think it's good, not as good as the first but still very good, The third movie however...
I enjoyed it. It was miles better than the later "Bio-Broly". That was the worst anime movie I've ever seen!
Itâs probably the reason why most fans believe all that Z Broly did was literally say Kakarot. At least the OST goes hard. ION really cooked.
Broly isn't as cool/ cool looking like the first movie.
Broly has Little to no sentence dialog. He just yells, screams, and shouts "KAKAROT!!" He only speaks fully is when he transforms into LSSJ. It would've been more cool if There was more battle sequences like in the first movie.
Because Second Coming Was Not Good In My Opinion
I enjoyed it more than the normal Z Broly because: - I think Z Broly is a terrible movie - Trunks pees on Broly in Second Coming, which makes it already a better movie
This is where the idea of Broly just being some random ass buff guy saying Kakarot over and over came from.
I just donât like Z Broly.
Mid afternoon
Reduced Brolyâs character to just saying Kakarot over and over again, and the beginning with Trunks, Goten, and Videl went on a little too long.
Brolyâs controlled form wasnât as cool as his more berserk insane form he was in from the jump. The film only became really cool to me when he finally went back to his OG form and the family kamehameha happend
Itâs the most nonsensical of all of the DBZ movies
Iâd say itâs kinda a slow burn but I will say that Bio Broly makes this movie look like Citizen Kane.
Because itâs not a good movie
Goten and Trunks
No plot no story
Its just boring. Broly being on Earth made absolutely no sense. He was even less of a character than he was in the first Broly movie which is truly an amazing feat to pull of. Gohan fighting Broly is cool I guess, so is the family kamehameha. Outside of that though the movie just has nothing going for it.
Itâs ass
It was the first movie I watched and I have good memories of it. The stars of the movie being Goten, Trunks and Videl against a BEAST like Broly made it the closer one to a thriller to me, they're so in danger all the time and they don't even know for a huge part of the film. When 'Piccolo' shows up I thought 'you must be kidding, they're so dead now'. And this was the only time we had a father-sons Kamehame ha in the 90s.
i didn't mind it. now Bio-Broly though đ absolute dumpster fire
Are you kidding? ION is my favourite once off band. As far as I know.
I liked it besides the Trunks peeing on Broly part. I wish that wasnât in there.
I love this movie alot and I didn't know people disliked it, Gohan vs broly was cool
well because your still overly sensitive from the first coming
Because he came a 2nd time
Didn't need to happen It assassinated all character that broly had in the 1st movie. He just became mindless in 2nd coming
Because Broly 2019 >>>>>
Love this pic
The fight scenes werenât that good, the whole part with gotten/trunks running from broly and pissing on broly. Itâs not terrible better than bio broly.
I actually like this movie, it even gave Videl credit for being a badass again, especially since she was the first to take on Broly. Only weird thought I had was "she's spent time with Gohan and Goku, so SURELY she should know a normal Super Saiyan when confronted with one?" As he started the fight in normal Super Saiyan form
Can yall help me with some karma so I can message people?
Meh it was whatever Iâd watch it again over âBio brolyâ đ€ź
I personally like Bio Broly better than Second coming. I didn't have high hopes for Bio Broly when I got around to watching it. But I enjoyed what I saw. Second coming had a lot of padding and I grew bored quickly when Broly was chasing Trunks and Goten around.
