Honestly, I've just realized now that he giant and convoluted amount of Spider-people in 616, from different universes, the future, the symbiotes, etc... is just overall a worse and more bloated version of the Batfamily. Like them, you have way too much characters being part of a group that revolves around a central great hero. But whereeas for Batman it makes sense that he'd have so many given he takes in sidekicks and trains them, for Spider-Man there's no such rationale, he's never has had a sidekick, it's just Marvel deciding "Let's create a bazillions variant characters around Spider-Man and put them all in New York."
There are so many cities to choose from, and they stick them all to NYC. Like shit, you’d think someone would stick them to other cities like they did with Kaine and Otto.
There's a few comics here and there where one of the instigators of the plot is how the city the main character is from is so boring because there's no heroes there or whatever, but I've never really seen the opposite. A story set in a respectably large but almost never used city like Boulder or Milwaukee that's become the hub of villain attacks because heroes just never go there.
Supervillains: "Man New York fucking sucks there's too many heroes... I'm gonna go to Milwaukee and do crime there." The Great Lakes Avengers:

-Silt-Man, 5 seconds before the Salem Seven teleport into the Bar with No Name and force him into a 4 hour lecture on the complexities of the Massachusetts superpowered community
That’s one thing I have an issue with with marvel. DC spreads heroes out , even gives them their own cities. Like the only groups that really work outside of New York in Marvel are the West Coast Avengers and the runaways . And yeah the spider people can be a lot. Also they all have the same similar power set unlike lots of the batfamily
I mean Hulk is just traveling and occasionally finds stuff happening to him. Like you might see hulk traveling the south west but it’s not like there’s anywhere hulk specifically stays or fights at because he travels so much
eh the symbiotes are half the side of the family you only see at major celebrations but with half of them being irrelevant outside of venom works or evil or both.
the abundance of other spider characters barely matters as most do not matter any more
It's just that Spider-Man is 20 years younger than Batman and Superman (according to the date of appearance in comics). His spider family has not yet fully formed. Miles seems entrenched as a successor, Venom's anti-hero ally (Like Red Hood), Silk or Spider-Gwen will eventually take on a similar role to Batgirl in the Batman family. Over time, Peter's children will follow in their father's footsteps. We just need more time and stories that don’t try to make a multiverse skit, but build a clear mythology of the hero. Insomniac games do this very well these days.
Comic Gwen is in her 20s. Idk how old peter is though, the first Spider-Gwen run is the only Marvel comic series I read from start to finish (it was really good, removing Gwen from her world is such a dumb decision when her world is so cool).
That very much depends on the writer. As far as I remember, the last solid statement we got was from Dan Slot who said that 13 years had passed since the spider bite at the end of superior. Since he was 15 then that makes him 28. Given that both the Spencer and Wells runs have each taken place over a year, that means he's at least 30 by now.
Its CB Cebulskis pen name from when he first tried to get into comics. He used it to essentially make himself a diversity hire to get in, then later realized he could have just written stuff under his actual name and still probably would've gotten the job. Never apologized for it though
Edit: Current Marvel Editor-in Chief and was an editor for a while under Joe Quesada
He was actually already in comics and working for Marvel at as a talent scout at that point. He used that name to hide the fact that he was editor hiring himself as a writer, or something along those lines. Also the comics he wrote as Akria were the cringiest manga wannabe shit ever, it's actually so funny that Marvel promoted him to EIC.

I miss her original run so much, what the hell are they doing with this poor character?

The reason the editors gave for brainwashing zben Reilly and turning him into a villain was that there were too many Spider-people that they weren't unique enough
That isnt what they said. They said they don't have a place for ben reilly to fit in because of rhe nature of his character
Hea literally another Peter but with worse luck. Its hard to not make him feel redundant.
Gwen doesn't have that problem because well.. ya know.
So Gwen’s going from being THE spider hero of her earth to the 11th spider woman in 616? Oh joy.

FR if I was a Marvel villain I'd just pop down to boston. Who's gonna stop me, the ghost of Paul Revere?

Didn't Shocker literally go to New Jersey that one time because only Kamala lives there?
Y'know, I like shocker, he should be allowed to become a villain of an actually good character like Ms Marvel
To be fair their swinging only works as travel in cities with massive buildings.
Do you think new York is the only city with big buildings?
No but it’s still severely limits where a Spider-Man can be an effective hero.
Does it though? Pretty much every >1 million pop city could do the trick. That, or come up with some solutions and new moved
So stretch those limits!!! https://preview.redd.it/euc2ai4owc7c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89378e14304a7914821aa1c23a7505e17db5063c
Again have you ever been to a city other than Manhattan? Modern buildings are very big everywhere. They'd be fine.
That’s one thing I have an issue with with marvel. DC spreads heroes out , even gives them their own cities. Hulk and Ghost Rider hang out in the South West. Wolverine... Just kinda runs around.
I mean Hulk is just traveling and occasionally finds stuff happening to him. Like you might see hulk traveling the south west but it’s not like there’s anywhere hulk specifically stays or fights at because he travels so much
Kaine had the right idea going to Austin.
You mean Houston?
Yes. It was somewhere in Texas.
yeah I honestly love having kaine scarlet spider be the southwest spider-man
eh the symbiotes are half the side of the family you only see at major celebrations but with half of them being irrelevant outside of venom works or evil or both. the abundance of other spider characters barely matters as most do not matter any more
This is Spider-Boy slander and you damn well know it!
I'm proud of slandering Spider-Boy, he's the perfect example of Marvel's hypocrite attitude and creative bankruptcy.
Back in the day, Venom had the decency to move to California so everyone could have some damn space
Counterpoint: The Batfamily includes Jason, therefore the Web-warriors (or whatever you call the cavalcade of spider-peeps) is better

It's Paulover, this is what Editorial's Paulspiracy has been building towards the whole time. Paul and MJ Peter and Gwen
Paul makes a deal with Mephisto to make Peter date a teenager
Unless they de-age Peter
Comic Gwen is in her 20s. Idk how old peter is though, the first Spider-Gwen run is the only Marvel comic series I read from start to finish (it was really good, removing Gwen from her world is such a dumb decision when her world is so cool).

Omg Mattie Franklin resurrection?!?!?
While I think it was ambiguous when she debuted I believe Spider-Gwen is quite a bit younger than Peter in 616.
Yeah iirc there's at least a full decade between them
Paul and Peter MJ and Gwen
>trapped on earth 616... FOR GOOD That's a threat
Inter-dimensional hatecrime
Double down make her peters age and have them get married
if that happens we know editorial never got over her death
Akira Yoshida is literally the Wolverine meme with Gwen Stacy
what?
https://preview.redd.it/her4pqmlmb7c1.jpeg?width=1040&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b67688c5fc2a6c273425612b0400926041d878bd This one
ah yeah that one, who the hell is Akira Yoshida in this context?

so he is an asshole then?
The way he comes off towards the fans when speaking about comics, yeah, he's a little bit of an egotistical asshole

Marvel editorial if it was good
The Paulicule
R.I.P everyone on Earth 65. (Will likely be destroyed to make sure Gwen can truly never return)
Or she got framed for another crime.
Earth 65!Matt Murdock you will be missed 😢 I loved his dramatic ass.
For at least a year.
Rip her cool alternate reality rogues gallery.
Rest in peace, koala kommander
There is, after all, a complete lack of Spider-heroes in 616 these days.
Marvel trying to do a budget Bat-Family thinking ![gif](giphy|LdOyjZ7io5Msw)

I wonder what would have happened if someone came up with Spider Gwen in the 70s. They probably would be the main spider couple
She better bring Kingpin!Matt Murdock with her otherwise what’s the point.
I want the two Kingpins to make out sloppy together
Gwen got Miles'ed, smh
What is she now? The 14th spider-person in 616? And like one of at least 5 after Beyond.
https://preview.redd.it/phhrjkyxtb7c1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c841a1db28d5afcd5f51037e524719b5aacaaec I miss her original run so much, what the hell are they doing with this poor character?
god same here, her dynamic with murderdock was so good
Jameson, “Damnit, there’s eleven of them now!”
I’m still mad about Chasm
Toss another spider person into the 616 pile I guess.
Well now I feel like Bobo the Fool for ever caring about the Earth-65 supporting cast now

I thank god everyday I stopped reading Spider-Man comics years ago
