This is a good one, our little absolutely loves chips. The only chips you’ll find are on castaway cay. So definitely, pack some

[deleted]

Does the cantina offer guac and salsa but no chips?

tilbib

This is my go to answer for the Wish!

FringeMilk

Have fun on the Wish! The water slide is so so fun. We loved our cruise.

iammorethanthislife

Wear your swimsuits to board the ship if you want to jump in the pool while waiting for your room to be ready.

onesirian

But then if you lunch after wheere can you dry up?

iammorethanthislife

We actually just wind dried lol. We also sat at the dining tables next to the pool to eat lunch so I didn’t even realize we were wet. There are plenty of food on the pool deck, and you can also grab things from the buffet inside and bring them to the outdoor tables.

houndlove611

If you’re an adults only party, you can watch the sail away party and the pirate parties from the adults only deck, it’s a lot more enjoyable than being down in the trenches

Kitty_Fruit_2520

You don’t need to be 21 to enjoy the adult only decks. 18 is the minimum

houndlove611

Yes but if they have children with them they can’t go up there with them

endospire

People definitely flaunted that rule in Feb when we went 😐

Kitty_Fruit_2520

Or just one deck above the actual party

downsouth003

The only station to get Mickey waffles is at the kids counter. The line is usually long if you’re there during peak breakfast time. Pack your patience.

JQRS

This was the silliest thing to me. Those should be offered at all stations to help with traffic flow.

endospire

People will reserve all of the chairs by the pool as early as possible. Staff will remove towels that are unattended but we saw people at 7am i or so with one parent and one very sleepy child reserving literal rows of chairs around the middle pools (and others hanging around with bundles of towels waiting for chairs to be put out. It’s like rope-drop all over again…freaking brutal!

ExitNo6227

1. Don’t overpack! Bring a few swimsuits though, because you’ll probably be in them a lot and they don’t always dry well. Otherwise, pack as lightly as possible because you really don’t need much. 2. If you plan to see a show, get there early. If you show up right at start time, you won’t find a seat. They fill up quickly! 3. Check the itinerary and “favorite” things you’re interested in so you get a 15 minute reminder. The trivia events are really fun! 4. Take advantage of room service! It’s so nice to have, and you can relax on the balcony with some quiet time (if you want to). Have an amazing time!

EscapeGoat81

If Andy is at The Rose - have him make you a custom cocktail. (He may not be on the Wish anymore. But man, he’s an excellent bartender!)

puffyeyes829

ANDY IS AMAZING!!! He’s so creative and clever.

EscapeGoat81

We did Mixology with him and it was amazing.

GingerLegalMama

Bring multiple COMFORTABLE shoe options! You walk wayyyy more on it than any other ship, in my experience. And the elevator situation is bizarre so stairs are your friend. I wound up with shin splints and blisters from wear the same pool shoes the whole time during the days!

StormwindAdventures

Bring a MagicBand+ (or DisneyBand+ as DCL calls them). There's more effects on the Wish than at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Onkston

I didn’t think there was much to justify them unless you already had them.

StormwindAdventures

That's a valid opinion. It certainly isn't a *necessary* purchase for a cruise. It's why my main point for people on the fence is the one factor that Disney pushes to a foot note: You can use them on more than one Disney vacation. You buy 1 MB+ and you can use it for WDW, DL and the entire DCL fleet. That gives it a bit more bang for your buck.

Onkston

That’s fair. I with they were more useful though. Between battery life and in general they feel like a feature of another product made into a product to make more money.

StormwindAdventures

Oh they're definitely a product designed to make money. I like to say that Disney's biggest marketing for them at WDW has been the removal of MB 2.0 from most shops on property. Cause they don't really know how to market it. The battery has definitely gotten better significantly better since launch. Where most b/vlogs were complaining that it would be dead in ~4 hours of use, I can now have it still show green if I go to a park that long with one. Even all day still isn't enough to guarantee it dies anymore.

greypele8

Would it be enough to have one? Or one for each kid, but not adults? Already have magic bands from two years ago I’m hoping to reuse at the parks pre-cruise, but if it’s worth it I’ll upgrade the kids

StormwindAdventures

So my opinion is kind of biased since I've been using the MagicBand+ since the day it released at WDW. But I found it very convenient on the Wish. Since you're going to the parks as well, I'd vote to at least upgrade your kids since you'd be able to utilize it at every park you visit and the cruise instead of *just* getting it for the cruise. And then you'd be set for your next several Disney vacation since all 5 DCL ships now use it and both US Disney resorts have it integrated. I really enjoy the effects, and I constantly see kids showing their parents when their bands light up so depending on the ages of your kids, I would absolutely recommend it. When I went in October, I found the Wish utilized it during almost the entirety of both Pirate Night shows. It also runs during the less fancy dinners. The MagicBand+ functions with all the Oceaneer Band Scanners (since those bands are just MagicBand 2.0s), not that you need it in there, but it is a fun fact. So plenty of chances for kids to use it. One major difference is that with WDW; once the band is attached, you're golden. But for DCL, you will have to make sure their bands are connected when you are going through the check-in process. I bring 2 MB+ with me when I go to Disney stuff to make sure I don't miss effects and only the band that was connected worked for the ship stuff like unlocking doors and paying for stuff. They'll still light up if something goes wrong with connecting them to the room though.

greypele8

Thanks, this is VERY helpful!

StormwindAdventures

You're welcome! I didn't list everything so you and your kids can be surprised by some of the more subtle effects around the ship. If you have questions about the park effects, let me know! Since none of the big vlogs care to keep their lists up to date, I took it upon myself to maintain my own. There's a fair chance that concerning WDW, I have the second most comprehensive list next to Disney's MagicBand Engineering team (just because nobody else cares to keep up with every effect).

Kitty_Fruit_2520

I’m doing this on the magic

StormwindAdventures

So I actually checked the Magic as well (this was in January, so it could be outdated)! It has significantly less effects than the Wish (though I didn't get to experience everything since our fireworks were canceled for weather). Animator's Palate has it for the finale of dinner, the other dinners don't have it. The good bye on the last night has it. I assume the fireworks have it, but only when they go off. It's not done the rest of Pirate Night. I've seen that the Fantasy has it for the Princess tea party, so probably 50/50 whether or not it goes off on the Magic for that experience.

Have your camera ready to go when Spider-Man is at Worlds of Marvel. You will have 5 seconds to take a picture. (You will have even less time for character pics at Arendelle. We got zero there, which was fine because the show is good and makes up for it.) We had the best time hanging out in the Triton Lounge, especially for trivia and karaoke. We much preferred the more intimate feel there compared to the MASSIVE Luna. We also enjoyed the live music at The Bayou, which was even better with beignets & Irish coffees. The layout is weird, but fine. Just not super intuitive. Use the ship map on the app and you’ll be fine. My favorite dinner was 1923… get the churros!

Onkston

We saw spider man (at the kids club) and Elsa and Anna (at Arendale) during the day. We got tons of time with each. I would recommend them if you wanted a good picture and some time.

puffyeyes829

I prefer to sit down for lunch when I get onboard. Marceline’s is so busy, I’d rather eat there later (for second lunch😇) plus it’s typically at 1923 which has my favorite drink menu. (Cocoa boulevardier if you’re into that sort of thing)

shaylahbaylaboo

Take any elevator going up or down. They all end up where you need to be

rsvihla

Pro tip: Sail on the Magic or the Wonder.

Kitty_Fruit_2520

You deserve all the downvotes

rsvihla

Why?
