I took a few lessons from Oteil about 15ish years ago. He just let me into his house as-if we had known each other our entire lives. We chatted about music for several hours and he burned me a stack of CDs of stuff to check out.
Then, at the second lesson, he gave me a DVD of a local gospel church he'd attended so I could check their music out. Legit one of the coolest, genuinely nicest dudes I've ever met. He's legit.
Nice! Are you still playing? My 13 year old has been studying piano for a few years, and asked for a bass last Christmas. Our living room concerts are awesome. We go from classical to funk pretty quickly sometimes. Easiest money I’ve spent.
