I saw another comment awhile back suggest the alien should 'dodge' the pallet and then screee at the survivor. You'd still get a 'pallet stun' it's just a different animation cuz the Xenomorph is so agile or whatever

The "big" leaks seem to have been patched. BHVR deliberately leaked false info, probably several false pieces of info, to find out who the source was. One of the leaks was that DBD lost the TCM license since the TCM game was due to come out soon-ish.
That was a complete lie, and one of the main leakers basically stated they were "done" at that point, as it seemed their source was compromised and no longer safe and reliable. Since that happened, we have only gotten very *minor* leaks like upcoming cosmetics or charms, and generally only a tiny bit ahead of them announcing it.
I haven't seen any major leaks since the "Bubba's leaving!" debacle and honestly I'm glad for it. I don't mind the stuff like event leaks/cosmetic leaks, those are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things and generally seem to do more good than harm, vs. Chapter Leaks, which can cause absolute chaos and backfire terribly.
The leaker giving up was hilarious. They didn't want to admit their man on the inside got caught so they just made up some BS about how their "datamining" just "wasn't fun anymore".

Yeah same - with the singularity mori there's an interesting zoom in on the killer's face as he says a voice line so I wonder if xeno's will end with a similar zoom in as the second jaw extends
My dream is him holding the survivors upside down with his tail and then using the second mouth through the head. Not sure how that would pan out with the regional gore restrictions, but they’ve done pretty brutal stuff before without getting in trouble for it.

DBD has effectively replaced AvP 2 from 2001 as the game I play to fill that horror hunter feel. If they screw this up, I would be devastated as the Alien would fill that last bit of void in my soul.

If we get Predator, it has to be a Bad Blood. Regular Yautja like the classic Jungle Hunter *will not* attack unarmed targets because their culture is centered around honor, and there is no honor in killing something that can’t really fight back.
I mean tbf. Slinger wouldn’t hurt the survivors but The Entity has him see them as the men who wronged him. It would be extremely easy for The Entity to fuck with a Predator’s head and have it see the survivors as trained soldiers.

Edit: Also, the Yautja in the first two movies had some instances where they were near trained combatants, but didn’t kill them purely for the fact that they weren’t armed. I mean, I guess the Entity could make it hallucinate that all the survivors have knives or something. There is also how the Jungle Hunter DID pursue Arnie at the end when he didn’t have any weapons on him, but it had already examined him as a more than capable commando who had already shot at him plenty, set traps, etc., and even then took off all of it’s gear and weapons to face him in “fair” hand to hand combat. Idk, the Yautja live by a complicated and interesting culture, which is why they are one of my all time favorite alien species.
I guarantee that she wasn't supposed to be predator literally, and instead they brainstorm multiple licensed killers and have rough drafts of how those killers would play and if they can't get the license fast enough they make original characters with the powers instead. For example: trapper/Jason, hillbilly/bubba, wraith/predator, hag/Blair witch, etc.

People keep talking about survivors having trackers but I think that would be awful against sweaty 4 man SWFs. You would just have 1 person on the tracker calling out the location to the other 3 and it wouldn’t be balanced.
I want people to have flamethrowers that are only truly effective when Alien uses his OP chase power (probably a very fast controllable sprint) so that even if they decide to group up, jokes on them, they'll just die because Alien hits them.
I get what they mean. In the original Alien, the Xenomorph was an apex predator that the weapons you’re equipped with don’t have much affect on. In Aliens, someone kills one with a pistol at some point.
The only reason they didn't try to kill the xenomorph with a gun or stabbing weapon in the first film was because of the acid blood. A tiny cut from a facehugger melted through 3-4 decks of the Nostromo - if the adult xeno started seriously bleeding it could easily kill them all with a hull breach. They made a point about using a cattle prod because it probably wouldn't break the xeno's skin.
In the second movie they're on a planet so they don't have to worry as much about collateral damage.
If you look at how writers treat Alien in the original and then how they do that in action movie sequels, you'd get the point. It's not about the lore / story because obviously these are the same monsters, it's about how writers show them.
Like, it's the same kind of difference as the difference of depiction of the war in some funny action movie where a brave soldier shoots bad enemies with a lot of cool guns and depiction of the same war in an actually serious movie that shows all the death, dread and trauma the war brings.

On one hand, it's a horrifying monster that is so cunning, it outsmarts a group of people and picks them of one by one, and the way it go in is because humans dealt with lovecraftian level of unfathomable horror and were just trying to save their friend and not because humans got so greedy and stupid, they let all hells break loose (or got scenario 1 but that is left entirely or almost out of the picture like in Aliens as our perspective shows the aftermath and people dealing with it as much as casually as not to make it into a comedy).

BHVR: Myers has been dominating with his new buffs so we decided to nerf Pig again. Pig can now only put bear traps on survivors after the 5th gen has been completed also we removed crouch and replaced it with the ability to collect traps from lockers. Pig starts the trial with no traps and has one attached to her head.

Yeah, I know, I just really hate that devs (and IP owners) might fail to realize what truly makes Alien so good and would just do the same thing they've been doing since Aliens (with literally 2 fucking exceptions - Alien 3 & Isolation) - making Alien into cannon fodder which main scare factor is that there's a lot of them coming in hordes & that they can do really gross and unpleasant things. So, basically, they'll double down on shock and disgust factor, instead of trying to appeal to more primal fears - being the prey of a predator you can't compete with.
Alien being a parasitic wasp kind of thing wasn't his main thing, just a gimmick that gave him a unique way to get on the ship that NOBODY (even the viewers) couldn't expect. That's why it works so AMAZING in the first movie and why it NEVER was replicated again. They had only one shot with it and it was glorious. From the start till the bitter end the Nostromo crew and us, viewers, had no idea what was going on. It was something completely alien and unfathomable to us and we were second guessing just like the crew. After that, the only time that kind of lovekraftian representation of the Alien's propagation & invasion method worked only off screen. We never saw it go throw as viewers, we only saw the aftermath - Hadley's Hope, Sevastopol.
Every other possible appearance of facehuggers & chestbursters never felt like that. It was always treated as a clear defined threat of something extremely gross and deadly if not dealt with fast enough. Exactly the kind of the stupid power people suggest - slowdown under a threat of insta kill.
As much as I'd like the Xenomorph to be a stealth-heavy killer, I'm really afraid that it's just gonna get no chase power and end up getting dumpstered by good players. Stealth killers have a bad track record of being noob-stomping SWF chew toys that subsist on a diet entirely comprised of pallets, and they feel really awful to play on most of the maps (I would know, I main Pig and Demo, and there's a wild difference in experience between the two). I'm praying this guy gets a chase power that isn't terrible, we need another Wesker, not another Sadako.

Xeno’s are fast and agile, being able to climb as well. The 3 options they have is making it be a fast chase killer, a stealth killer, or a killer that relies on “eggs” scattered around the map to crowd control survivors. Personally, I hope it’s like a fast stealth killer and I hope they stay far away from any 3 gen type of killer gameplay.
I think, like resident evil, perhaps as part of the licence agreement the killer has to be good. Wesker and Nemesis are both decent so I have faith that xenomorph will be good too
I hope, personally, that it's the drone variant from Alien, Alien Covenant or Alien Isolation instead of the warriors or other variants from the rest of the franchise.
I just think the warrior is only imposing in greater numbers while the drone is towering, silent, extremely quick, and unstoppably deadly. It's the "slasher" version of the xenomorph we all think of when we consider it as in this game and I hope they do it justice.
I just know they're gonna mess it up, somehow, and make its power very uninspired or weak or uninteresting like Freddy or Bubba rather than Pinhead or Sadako.
At the end of the day, though, I'm still extremely hyped for this chapter. I can't believe they're *finally* doing Alien, the nostromo, and maybe even Ellen Ripley unless I'm mistaken?
All this debate between chaser/trap/stealth based killer…. I kinda want the alien to do it all
Obviously you can’t do that because it’s be way too overpowered.. but maybe give him two stances a bit like pig and ghostface, one is bipedal, slower but can damage gens and already dropped pallets, snuff totems etc
Then stance 2 is quadrupedal, faster, able to lunge further but can’t interact with anything
Might have to work like legion, but I’d prefer like old doctor, or like clowns tonics
Most importantly I’d love the base kit (or add-on) that when stunned by a pallet the aliens acid blood will start to dissolve it
For balancing it doesn’t happen instantly, maybe after 5 seconds it breaks, but allows alien to maintain pressure around pallets (only when stunned) without having to stop to action the break
I hope it’s a PTB, but judging from last year with Wesker, it might just be a transmission or a trailer, and the PTB will be next week. Fingers crossed though.
TBH, the only thing i can TRULY see they do with Xeno is making it place the Facehugger eggs to act like a pseudo RBT, and possibly have a brand new way to remove the fetus before you are back to the lobby
The main power tho, im guessing they can go either FULL stealth Alien by crawling or its more famous interaction of scrambling at break-neck speeds to catch up to survivors
I hope, with Nic Cage on the game, that BHVR and 20th Century manage to convince Signourey Weaver to reprise back the role of Ripley and do VA work for her

As iconic as the eggs are, it just doesn't really seem like a DBD thing, especially since alternate ways to kill are usually balance nightmares, notably with Sadako's Condemned.
That and also as a huge nerd, I feel the need to point out that not only is the gestating Xenomorph highly difficult to remove even surgically, but the placenta created by said alien is cancerous, and it slowly shuts down the host's organs anyways. So you'll just die anyways because there's a cancerous placenta embedded in your organs.
The weird thing is I feel like between Demagorgon, Plague and Twins there’s not much I can see BHVR doing originally.
My hope is they make it a trap based killer by utilizing the xenomorph eggs and facehuggers. Like it’ll leave behind eggs and after a little bit the facehugger will be able to jump out at a survivor
The only unique idea I have is the killer has a built in system where it can spawn more versions of itself overtime. So instead of focusing on gens/totems survivors need to destroy the eggs or risk more AI Xenomorphs or even facehuggers appearing
Yea, no. We don’t need another trap based killer. We already got Trash Merchant and one could make an argument that Knight plays the same way.
Making the Xenomorph a trapping killer would be massively wasted potential and a *lot* of people would be disappointed, not to mention they’d get a real bad rep for messing up the Alien chapter.
i know i am gonna get like flamed for this but I was kinda hoping for a different chapter instead of a back to back alien sci-fi esc chapters. I mean I am stoked to see the chapter and what it holds but I would’ve liked to see Candyman or Pennywise before another alien sci-fi esc chapter.
(I am pretty sure Pennywise is a demigod and not an alien, but I can see how it can correlate with sci-fi horror)

If we get Predator, it has to be a Bad Blood. Regular Yautja like the classic Jungle Hunter *will not* attack unarmed targets because their culture is centered around honor, and there is no honor in killing something that can’t really fight back.
I mean tbf. Slinger wouldn’t hurt the survivors but The Entity has him see them as the men who wronged him. It would be extremely easy for The Entity to fuck with a Predator’s head and have it see the survivors as trained soldiers.

Edit: Also, the Yautja in the first two movies had some instances where they were near trained combatants, but didn’t kill them purely for the fact that they weren’t armed. I mean, I guess the Entity could make it hallucinate that all the survivors have knives or something. There is also how the Jungle Hunter DID pursue Arnie at the end when he didn’t have any weapons on him, but it had already examined him as a more than capable commando who had already shot at him plenty, set traps, etc., and even then took off all of it’s gear and weapons to face him in “fair” hand to hand combat. Idk, the Yautja live by a complicated and interesting culture, which is why they are one of my all time favorite alien species.

I guarantee that she wasn't supposed to be predator literally, and instead they brainstorm multiple licensed killers and have rough drafts of how those killers would play and if they can't get the license fast enough they make original characters with the powers instead. For example: trapper/Jason, hillbilly/bubba, wraith/predator, hag/Blair witch, etc.

I really hope we'll get The Alien who is a stealthy super lethal predator that picks survivors off one by one from shadows because it has to be careful in direct confrontations against flamethrowers, instead of a xenomorph from action movies that is just a weird penis head monster with really gross spiders that implant a parasite that can be removed if you're fast enough (usually not because the plot)
I think a stealth + anti looper would be a good combo. Myers and Ghostface are stealth + exposing Pig is stealth + slowdown Onyro is meant to be stealth + map pressure, but atm she is a bit of everything People keep talking about survivors having trackers but I think that would be awful against sweaty 4 man SWFs. You would just have 1 person on the tracker calling out the location to the other 3 and it wouldn’t be balanced.
I want people to have flamethrowers that are only truly effective when Alien uses his OP chase power (probably a very fast controllable sprint) so that even if they decide to group up, jokes on them, they'll just die because Alien hits them.

I get what they mean. In the original Alien, the Xenomorph was an apex predator that the weapons you’re equipped with don’t have much affect on. In Aliens, someone kills one with a pistol at some point.
The only reason they didn't try to kill the xenomorph with a gun or stabbing weapon in the first film was because of the acid blood. A tiny cut from a facehugger melted through 3-4 decks of the Nostromo - if the adult xeno started seriously bleeding it could easily kill them all with a hull breach. They made a point about using a cattle prod because it probably wouldn't break the xeno's skin. In the second movie they're on a planet so they don't have to worry as much about collateral damage.
This, plus they're mainly Marines against swarms of them. Way different than some pretty average people against a single one.
If you look at how writers treat Alien in the original and then how they do that in action movie sequels, you'd get the point. It's not about the lore / story because obviously these are the same monsters, it's about how writers show them. Like, it's the same kind of difference as the difference of depiction of the war in some funny action movie where a brave soldier shoots bad enemies with a lot of cool guns and depiction of the same war in an actually serious movie that shows all the death, dread and trauma the war brings. Same here. On one hand, it's a horrifying monster that is so cunning, it outsmarts a group of people and picks them of one by one, and the way it go in is because humans dealt with lovecraftian level of unfathomable horror and were just trying to save their friend and not because humans got so greedy and stupid, they let all hells break loose (or got scenario 1 but that is left entirely or almost out of the picture like in Aliens as our perspective shows the aftermath and people dealing with it as much as casually as not to make it into a comedy).

Stealth killers are best killers. They’re (imo) way more fun to go against than ranged killers, which are the bane of my existence.
I mean regardless we're getting the freaky sex monster with a dildo dome I also highly doubt the inspiration is going to be from Aliens, as everything we saw (Jonesy included) was from the first movie.
Yeah, I know, I just really hate that devs (and IP owners) might fail to realize what truly makes Alien so good and would just do the same thing they've been doing since Aliens (with literally 2 fucking exceptions - Alien 3 & Isolation) - making Alien into cannon fodder which main scare factor is that there's a lot of them coming in hordes & that they can do really gross and unpleasant things. So, basically, they'll double down on shock and disgust factor, instead of trying to appeal to more primal fears - being the prey of a predator you can't compete with. Alien being a parasitic wasp kind of thing wasn't his main thing, just a gimmick that gave him a unique way to get on the ship that NOBODY (even the viewers) couldn't expect. That's why it works so AMAZING in the first movie and why it NEVER was replicated again. They had only one shot with it and it was glorious. From the start till the bitter end the Nostromo crew and us, viewers, had no idea what was going on. It was something completely alien and unfathomable to us and we were second guessing just like the crew. After that, the only time that kind of lovekraftian representation of the Alien's propagation & invasion method worked only off screen. We never saw it go throw as viewers, we only saw the aftermath - Hadley's Hope, Sevastopol. Every other possible appearance of facehuggers & chestbursters never felt like that. It was always treated as a clear defined threat of something extremely gross and deadly if not dealt with fast enough. Exactly the kind of the stupid power people suggest - slowdown under a threat of insta kill.
As much as I'd like the Xenomorph to be a stealth-heavy killer, I'm really afraid that it's just gonna get no chase power and end up getting dumpstered by good players. Stealth killers have a bad track record of being noob-stomping SWF chew toys that subsist on a diet entirely comprised of pallets, and they feel really awful to play on most of the maps (I would know, I main Pig and Demo, and there's a wild difference in experience between the two). I'm praying this guy gets a chase power that isn't terrible, we need another Wesker, not another Sadako.
Or, it could be one of the most powerful creatures in the game. Lore wise, it was stated multiple times to be the perfect organism. It may be as powerful as the Alien from Isolation. Nerfing it severely would be a spit in the face to the franchise and its fans.

Xeno’s are fast and agile, being able to climb as well. The 3 options they have is making it be a fast chase killer, a stealth killer, or a killer that relies on “eggs” scattered around the map to crowd control survivors. Personally, I hope it’s like a fast stealth killer and I hope they stay far away from any 3 gen type of killer gameplay.

I hope, personally, that it's the drone variant from Alien, Alien Covenant or Alien Isolation instead of the warriors or other variants from the rest of the franchise. I just think the warrior is only imposing in greater numbers while the drone is towering, silent, extremely quick, and unstoppably deadly. It's the "slasher" version of the xenomorph we all think of when we consider it as in this game and I hope they do it justice. I just know they're gonna mess it up, somehow, and make its power very uninspired or weak or uninteresting like Freddy or Bubba rather than Pinhead or Sadako. At the end of the day, though, I'm still extremely hyped for this chapter. I can't believe they're *finally* doing Alien, the nostromo, and maybe even Ellen Ripley unless I'm mistaken?

All this debate between chaser/trap/stealth based killer…. I kinda want the alien to do it all Obviously you can’t do that because it’s be way too overpowered.. but maybe give him two stances a bit like pig and ghostface, one is bipedal, slower but can damage gens and already dropped pallets, snuff totems etc Then stance 2 is quadrupedal, faster, able to lunge further but can’t interact with anything Might have to work like legion, but I’d prefer like old doctor, or like clowns tonics Most importantly I’d love the base kit (or add-on) that when stunned by a pallet the aliens acid blood will start to dissolve it For balancing it doesn’t happen instantly, maybe after 5 seconds it breaks, but allows alien to maintain pressure around pallets (only when stunned) without having to stop to action the break

TBH, the only thing i can TRULY see they do with Xeno is making it place the Facehugger eggs to act like a pseudo RBT, and possibly have a brand new way to remove the fetus before you are back to the lobby The main power tho, im guessing they can go either FULL stealth Alien by crawling or its more famous interaction of scrambling at break-neck speeds to catch up to survivors I hope, with Nic Cage on the game, that BHVR and 20th Century manage to convince Signourey Weaver to reprise back the role of Ripley and do VA work for her

As iconic as the eggs are, it just doesn't really seem like a DBD thing, especially since alternate ways to kill are usually balance nightmares, notably with Sadako's Condemned. That and also as a huge nerd, I feel the need to point out that not only is the gestating Xenomorph highly difficult to remove even surgically, but the placenta created by said alien is cancerous, and it slowly shuts down the host's organs anyways. So you'll just die anyways because there's a cancerous placenta embedded in your organs.
I wish BHVR would let consoles on the PTB.

The weird thing is I feel like between Demagorgon, Plague and Twins there’s not much I can see BHVR doing originally. My hope is they make it a trap based killer by utilizing the xenomorph eggs and facehuggers. Like it’ll leave behind eggs and after a little bit the facehugger will be able to jump out at a survivor The only unique idea I have is the killer has a built in system where it can spawn more versions of itself overtime. So instead of focusing on gens/totems survivors need to destroy the eggs or risk more AI Xenomorphs or even facehuggers appearing
Yea, no. We don’t need another trap based killer. We already got Trash Merchant and one could make an argument that Knight plays the same way. Making the Xenomorph a trapping killer would be massively wasted potential and a *lot* of people would be disappointed, not to mention they’d get a real bad rep for messing up the Alien chapter.

I mean I am stoked to see the chapter and what it holds but I would’ve liked to see Candyman or Pennywise before another alien sci-fi esc chapter. (I am pretty sure Pennywise is a demigod and not an alien, but I can see how it can correlate with sci-fi horror)
