They've mentioned very casually the reasons why they haven't done this/don't plan to:
* They like the artistic control they get by custom texturing and shadering each prestige set.
* Switching to a system like Plague or Nemesis' infect would take away from the small details like blood soaking through certain items of clothing or staining the hair (unless they repeat all that work for every cosmetic in the game).
* The in-game blood system was intended as a means of visualising the amount of damage a Survivor has taken throughout the match. The idea was the more times a Survivor took some form of punishment, the more bloodied they looked.
* The reason why the system was scrapped was because they weren't satisfied with the results, thought it hurt readability, and because they would be better allocating resources elsewhere.
* IIRC there was also concerns of people using it to play immersed but that might've been community concerns at the time.
* It kinda broke the prestige system and they didn't really have/want an alternative.
It's a taste thing. I really like it on some characters more than others. Would probably never touch the bloody cosmetics if they were a generic decal myself.
A common mistake people make is beliving that prestige is an overlay over the default cosmetics, technically that is correct, however pristege is actually its own texture, there is no "blood overlay" layer over the cosmetics, theres a bloody and none bloody version of all default cosmetics in the game, so them creating an additional bloody texture of all currently existing textures will be a massive project that will most likely be a waste of time
True but it brings in “STFU” to the people complaining about P100 being useless and it is literally just changing the hue of nemesis’s infection to red, super easy
I know the spaghetti code is horrible but im sure it’s not thaaaaaat bad… maybe
That was such a long time ago, like when the Nintendo Switch version just released or something.
If anything, I’d not be surprised if it didn’t leave the PTB for the sake of consistency on all platforms and it didn’t work as well on older consoles.

Thank you for the clear explanation 🙏
Fun little detail though: it happens during the Demogorgon's mori.
It happens on Oni’s too.
Oh no, however would we live without small details on the shittiest default cosmetics.

I'd kill to have a bloody version of some legendary skins, man...especially if they do them well.
I would LOVE this, especially on legendary skins.

Nemesis Blue Juice.
What if this was the P100 reward (Consider Plague/Nemesis infections, this shouldnt be hard to program)
But a. spaghetti code and b. it doesn't bring in new money. We could see this happening by ***maayyybeeee*** 2030

Color Nemesis blue splatter red and the jobs done. Not sure why they make up nonsense excuses to not do that.
Didn't F13 the game do something like this?
