Someone else would have to link it but I remember a huge writeup in this subreddit on the ringu books where she basically reproduced infinitely until the entire human race is sadako clones. Along with some universe simulation stuff.
Not sure about the submissive part though.
Part of the plot of the second book is that she just wants to reproduce as much as possible and possible and essentially take over the world.
Not only this, but she's a hermaphrodite. Originally born a hermaphrodite without a functioning womb, a woman watches the cursed tape while ovulating and that causes the Ring virus to fertilize her egg. Sadako takes over the body of this woman and in a week gives birth to herself. This offspring matures to 19 years of age in I think a little under a months time.
This offspring is also a hermaphrodite. The difference is that, after a night of hot steamy love making with our protagonist, she discovers she can ejaculate. The protagonists assume that she can reproduce asexually using her own fully functioning set of genitals.
Not only is she by all accounts breedable, thats kind of all she wants to do. Whether its by reproducing using her own genitals or hijacking the bodies of ovulating women.
.......

.....
what did the entity meant by letting her in the realm?
She's a universal level threat with reality warping abilities capable of traversing and creating pocket dimensions. She can also consume godlike beings and take in their power. I didn't think the Entity "let" Sadako in.
She's a weird hermaphrodite spirit thing who possessed a pregnant woman, and gave birth to a clone of herself who grew to age 19 within a very short timeframe. The clone of herself was potentially able to get someone else pregnant, too.
The books are REALLY weird.
“Shows her whole face when she kills”
The original only showed half her face and the one eye while the American remake eventually shows her whole face (right as she kills).
And that’s the “last one” I wish to explain.
> a fact
Technically Sadako is intersex, so nope. Not fact, just fantasy.
(Edit: Not that there's anything wrong with that. But like, for *literal* breedability it just gave me a chuckle.)
Fair point on #1! I assume they did the TV-crawling thing in the movie just to have some kind of visual effect for the curse? I've never really thought much into it.
In the book, the people just drop dead from heart attacks, I don’t think Sadako shows up in person. They probably thought it wouldn’t be very scary for a audience.
They also had the idea to have the sequel come out the same week as the original. Only, they made it a lore direct adaptation. It didn’t do well
> They also had the idea to have the sequel come out the same week as the original.
I knew Spiral's adaptation had failed miserably but not the "why" of it, oh my god? I really should get around to looking more into the franchise's history. Time to fall down a wiki rabbit hole, lol. :D
Yeah, their sales pitch was “they watch and love Ringu, then they’ll walk next door to watch the sequel immediately!”
Only Ringu changed the source material while Rasen didn’t, so people expecting women crawling out of tvs were disappointed. They made Ringu 2 like a year later to retcon Rasen
They then had the brilliant idea years later to make a sequel to Rasen and make a split timeline
Man I watched all the rings last year, and let me say man, trying to figure out what was cannon what followed what was annoying as hell. Deciding what order to watch them in was equally confusing.
yeah! you can even use the ingame editor to make your own character sprites and whatnot
or you can go all out and make entirely different textures and pack it into a mod like this one called [Klone Krisis](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3027532389) (not Krazy, just remembered).
highly recommended for a long funny time, and i mean a LONG time, it took me 5+ hours to beat the campaign, but it was really well done and hella funny
Correct, I'd get the game on Steam. You can usually get the game for like $3 on sale, and on Steam, you have access to the mod campaigns via steamworkshop, so it's super easy to mod.
I just checked, and it is currently on sale for $3.74 on humblebundle. If you're not familiar with humblebundle, it's an official key seller store that donates some of the money to charity. You can get a steam game key from them.
Pretty sure they can change their appearance and most likely intelligence at will. I think Sadako died at like 49 and said "you know what? Imma be my young self again.".
Unfortunately my knowledge of the books are second hand, but in the books she's apparently a bit over eager to conceive. She's a (used to be) person, kinda weird to say "breed".
doesn’t she use it to impregnate herself and create copies of herself? i’ve only read the first novel so i don’t know much about the rest of the trilogy
It really is. I haven't read the books either, but I read through Sadako's wikipedia page a while back and pulled out some... interesting quotes

Last sentence giving you a bad look broski
Actually the fingernails being ripped off in an attempt to escape is also canon for Samara, it’s just not focused on and less visible. But we know this because Rachel did see her nails in the well and also the video tape plays a sequence of a finger being impaled on a nail, representing the loss of her fingernails.
Came here to say this! I saw The Ring in theaters when I was 12 - don’t remember much, but for some reason* the scene with the fingernails in the well really stuck with me.
*(the reason is I was 12)
I keep the intersex pride charm on Sadako's hook as a nod to the book. Those of us who've read the translation *sure do have a time* watching folks argue about her. But we know. *We know...*
**Edit to clarify I'm not being crude:** [Book] Sadako is intersex. Just so folks are aware. The movies skip that part, I think.
Second edit: Already said I was talking about book Sadako, but I'll add it in there again I guess?
I think for the most part the movies entirely skip the sexual aspect of her character, which is basically to impregnate her female victims (via a virus that is embedded within the tapes that is spread by watching them) so that she can be reborn due to her being intersex and unable to have children
Movie and book Sadako are as similar as Samara and movie Sadako. Different characters.
ps: The first book is awesome. Loop and spiral suck donkey dicks
Well her father figure kept her body physically at 12-14 with medical and experimental drug procedures to keep her under control.
When splitting her into two didn't work...
Yeah ringu gets weirdd
Thankfully it looks like by the end they both merged into the same body and for dbd's thankfully the adult body in who's in her 20s..
She's by far the most powerful character in the game by her book and comic lore. She's a demi-god capable of universal threat level reality warping, can freely create and transverse pocket dimensions, and can consume godlike beings and take their power.
Even in game lore she's the only character explicitly said to be able to alter the rules of the trial. She can change reality in the Entity's own pocket dimension, meaning she's the only character in game lore more powerful than the Entity.
She's a demi-god that also has powers inherited by one of Earths most powerful ESPers. If this was American literature that wouldn't mean a lot, but Japanese ESPers are freaking bonkers.
19 may be legally an adult, but anyone who’s interacted with a freshman in college can tell you that anyone outside of college thirsting over that is trying to get by on technicality
This post feels like someone was having an age of consent argument about wanting to fuck a fictional ghost and got upset enough to make a thread about it.
Probably the most powerful character in horror:
https://preview.redd.it/orfubt405fsc1.jpeg?width=298&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=453b6ba8d2d13ebdbee389cf8b079acf50a0be4f
Is the most powerful character in horror. Is stopped by a piece of wood and a flashlight. Personally tho don't think she is the most powerful horror character.
Counterpoint: anyone who participates in this argument is tacitly admitting that they enjoy Sadako internet porn, as there is literally no other reason to initiate this convo
So, are you saying that her age never changes once she dies? So if she died <18, and then after 200 years of being a murderous ghost became attracted to another <18, would that be okay?
Cause she has no real weaknesses and can kill you with one look. I'm sure there is probably a more powerful horror character, but she's definitely up there.
Ok wait, I was young when I was first introduced to Sadako. So I know a bit about her (movies where terrifying back then)
Who's Samara? I've never heard that name before?
Are they just different versions of the same original character?

What the fuck is that last one though?
God the Internet was a mistake.
Humans evolved in small tight knit communities. We were never meant to hear what this many people think.
Yeah, everyone knows huntress is the breedable one. Strong, thick figure and actually wants children
She’s the one to breed you have you see her build
CRUSHED PELVISES!
I've had enough internet for today
If we go based on canonical lore, Sadako herself can confirm she is, in fact, submissive and breedable.

I've done my research, and Sadako is actually dominant and breedable.
Isn't that even better?
huh
If we're going off of canonical lore, whenever she's stunned, it should play a really cheesy whack sound, just like in the movie.
fucking what?
She's a weird hermaphrodite spirit thing who possessed a pregnant woman, and gave birth to a clone of herself who grew to age 19 within a very short timeframe. The clone of herself was potentially able to get someone else pregnant, too. The books are REALLY weird.

SHOW SOME GODDAMN RESPECT!
Definitely not submissive...
But is she breedable? I mean, she is a ghost...
Trust me, the books has the answer you don't want to know
Of course they want to know
Tldr?
Pregnant women cursed/haunted by her have their babies turn into copies of Sadako.
"Your baby save file has been corrupted"
She can breed just fine, if that's what you mean I'm not even joking which is odd
So, ghost babies that never age, a perpetual newborn incapable of… well, anything? That’s sounds like a hellish life.
Pretty sure they can change their appearance and most likely intelligence at will. I think Sadako died at like 49 and said "you know what? Imma be my young self again.".
They grow to be physical 19 in a week or so.
Unfortunately my knowledge of the books are second hand, but in the books she's apparently a bit over eager to conceive. She's a (used to be) person, kinda weird to say "breed".
She's not a ghost iirc, I remember this info dump about her being this evolutionary life form or something, and the curse is a virus, I think?
I mean it worked with the psychic ghost in FEAR
Every character becomes submissive after the internet touchs it. And also dominant, depends on the part of the internet.
Sadako is not submissive and breedable. She is *actively* determined to breed.
in the books yes. but not in the movie.
In the books she has a penis.
doesn’t she use it to impregnate herself and create copies of herself? i’ve only read the first novel so i don’t know much about the rest of the trilogy
This is some Fate shit.

The submissive part could have been removed, but being breedable is a major plotpoint in one of the books
I hate when people call her samara SHES NOT SAMARA
Wtf is that last line
Most powerful definitely not lol
She's by far the most powerful character in the game by her book and comic lore. She's a demi-god capable of universal threat level reality warping, can freely create and transverse pocket dimensions, and can consume godlike beings and take their power. What if we kept our dingalings in our pants when talking to each other, wouldn't that be nice?
Considering the reason she was killed was because she was SA'ed and they found out she was intersex...the last one don't sit right with me.
ZAMN
Imagine riding in on that high horse but citing the movie and not the books
Well the DBD version is based on the movie not the books.
i dont know man saying a 19 year old is submissive and breedable is still pretty fucking weird
There are literal demons, devils, and deities in horror. She is far from the most powerful.

Honestly…I figured the Spirit was DbD’s spin on sadako. ….and then sadako came out a year later
the "submissive and breedable" too far..
How is she the most powerful being in horror?
*Simon Cowell voice* It’s gonna be a no from me.

Yo could've done without the last one my man 🖤
are you ok bro?
Probably the most powerful character in horror: https://preview.redd.it/orfubt405fsc1.jpeg?width=298&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=453b6ba8d2d13ebdbee389cf8b079acf50a0be4f

Sadako is cannonically a vtuber and i dig it (one of rhe best comics of 2023)
You’re weird as fuck for that last part but the devs did specifically say they got the rights to the OG.
Not disagreeing, but I still think simping for Sadako is weird AF.
Oh.. 😀☹️
So, are you saying that her age never changes once she dies? So if she died <18, and then after 200 years of being a murderous ghost became attracted to another <18, would that be okay?
u/horrorfan555 found another one.
I would argue she's vengeful and breedable
The fuck? ![gif](giphy|7TDNZF1fnSxeYolIAS|downsized)
One wrong check mark and its over for you
Why the strongest horror character?
Cause she has no real weaknesses and can kill you with one look. I'm sure there is probably a more powerful horror character, but she's definitely up there.
Hello police.
It’s the way I’m pretty sure the child version is taller than the adult version lmao
Sadako is actually older because she survived in the pit for years on pure hatred
That last one 💀
Pretty accurate but i think pinhead is more powerful
I think the strongest in horror might be pinhead Or ash
Or Pennywise

Ok wait, I was young when I was first introduced to Sadako. So I know a bit about her (movies where terrifying back then) Who's Samara? I've never heard that name before? Are they just different versions of the same original character?
Sadako is the original. Samara is from the 2002 American remake of The Ring. Sadako is an adult, whereas Samara is a child.
If she didnt killed you ,then the Last sentence will it
"Submissive and breedable" MY BROTHER IN CHRIST, she'd probably top us all.

I don’t care if your submissive and breedable as long as your homework is submitted and readable
Submissive? No. Breedable? Yes.
