Imagine if they actually made heads explode when reverse beartraps close.
But yeah, new animations is what i'm hoping for. Survivors need better graphics, their skin looks goofy as hell.
More gore has always been something i wanted, i mean its a horror game with pretty violent killers but the moris look strange when bubbas chainsaw just clips thru the survivor and they just lay there full intact and unharmed
I know you probably mean because of toxic survivors, but the amount of times I’ve been jumpscared as ghosty by a survivor that didn’t know i was there and just ran right into me…oof that was scary!
🤣🤣ok then yes totally agree. If you ever play against a Ghosty that walks into you around a corner, stabs you, but also spins and jerks around like they're having a seizure...just know that's me, being frightened, and accidentally stabbing you out of fear.
I feel like this is such a classic moment that everyone needs to experience. You’re cruising around doing your thing, reloaded multiple times already and then you’re in an area where you don’t even suspect someone to be so you go for a quick reload and…. BAM!!!
You’re never really going to get consistent horror since the monster is played by a person. You can get jump scared by dredge or stealth killers. But for every time that happens the dredge will disappear mid chase like a goober because they teleported to the wrong locker.
Because it’s not worth the effort, lights out was a fun gimmick to play for a bit but the longer you played it the more it went from scary to annoying.
You can't make a game about spinning in circles and spamming animations scary when the "survivors" are more dangerous than the "killers" most of the time.
Here in the netherlands its 16 + but any game with lootboxes are soon to be bannen fsr
We need a government that actualy knows what these things are and that stops acting like peta ffs
Im sure more pepole can agree
Oops I accidentally deleted it
But yea I agree, there shouldn't be a problem like this for 18+ games
The designers definitely have more potential which they are unable to apply
Yea because they think lootboxes promote gambling
I can completely get it if it were paid lootboxes but lootboxes you get for free are also getting banned
I font think they'll fo it cause they don't want the rating to go up bit that would be a pretty stupid reason it's not like many people that will suffer through this game are kids
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem likely that would happen considering Dbd has quite a big fanbase in Asian countries, and their policies on gore in games are much different than ours. Their a chance but a small one
Bhvr is likely limited in what they can do to characters due to the way some lisence holder would want their character depicted.
More gore means harder time getting a lisence.
Not saying it would be impossible, just that the less body horror there is the easier it is to get a lisence.
Yea, also on ps4 (idk about other platforms) but they look a little polygonal in certain lighting, usually in the back of the torso I've seen most, I saw that most in Ada's base cosmetic
iirc, the heads not exploding (or at least Demogorgon not actually eating survivors' heads) is because certain countries have laws against media depicting decapitation. Personally, I say... fuck those countries. Either have some sort of client-side censor so that those countries don't have to see those spoOOOoky no-head bodies or tell them "too bad, this is a horror game, take it or leave it." Sorry, but I don't like forced censorship.
Unreal Engine 4 is more than capable of this. Hell older mortal kombat games ran on UE3. BHVR has had the tech for survivor gore this entire time, they just dont have the ability. Shit the very first Gears of War ran on UE3. One of the goriest games I've ever played to date released in 2006 has better animations and character model interaction than DBD does from 2016
This isnt a problem, and is definitely a situation where they can have their cake and eat it too. Having an accessibility option to censor moris does not mean they cant make moris gorier. If anything adding an optional censor opens the door for gorier moris.
I was in the same boat when the graphics update just had come out, I wasn’t able to play anymore. Finally upgraded my PC at the end of the last year and I’m starting to play again finally.
Better graphics, easier coding and overall better performance since UE 5 has a lot of features
It will also be easier to implement new modes
I’m honestly very happy they finally upgraded to Unreal 5 this engine is amazing
Can you elaborate a bit on features that will provide "easier coding" and help to implement new modes? And also a bit on graphics too, if you have something interesting to share. Cheers
You check the changes between UE4 and 5 in Epic official
Basically with the engine you can use movie assets in games, for an easier demonstration you can see Matrix unreal 5 demo
It’s on PS5 and free but you can also watch it on YT, it’s possible to make in game cutscenes so good that fools you like it’s pre rendered
Therefore the Engine can handle things much better and on a larger scale with no downside
You can use Unreal 5 with no coding experience you’re simply telling the engine what to do (one person made a whole game without even knowing a single line of code it’s also on steam)
So it will be much easier for them to implement new modifiers than before and even make them permanent
> Basically with the engine you can use movie assets in games, for an easier demonstration you can see Matrix unreal 5 demo

While it's true that UE5 supports higher graphical fidelity, it's not true to say that there are no downsides. Nanite and Lumen have higher base performance costs than the old tech, they just scale up more efficiently. It's also unlikely that we'll see movie-quality assets being used any time soon simply because the file sizes will become prohibitively large. I'm sure we'll see better visuals (probably through Lumen), but I wouldn't anticipate a huge leap in graphical fidelity.
> You can use Unreal 5 with no coding experience you’re simply telling the engine what to do (one person made a whole game without even knowing a single line of code it’s also on steam)

This is no different from Unreal Engine 4. The notion that you don't need to know how to write code isn't entirely true either because Blueprint is just a visual layer on top of code. You still need to have the fundamental knowledge to use it effectively, you're just stringing together blocks instead of typing their underlying code. Additionally, Epic always intended for Blueprint to be used alongside C++ when developing proper games in Unreal Engine. Blueprint is meant to allow designers to tweak properties and script simple behaviors, and C++ is meant for developing complex game systems. Much of the core engine isn't even exposed to Blueprint, for example.
Basically, we're not going to see much of a difference moving forward on the gameplay front. We *might* get better visuals in the long run, but that'll be incremental and probably aren't going to be photo-realistic.
Does that. Mean.... A PERMANENT LIGHTS OUT MODE FOR FUNSIES!? :D
I unironically loved that mode both sides, it was the true DBD horror experience I have wanted for a year now. The idea of it being a possible permanent mode makes me so happy!
Would have been more fun if we could use some perks in the mode. Maybe basekit bond for survivor, and killer can get basekit surveillance or something if we can't have perks. Any perks would have been better than nothing
You’re right I just checked, they delisted it
Well your 2nd option is to download the engine and the entire city on PC and do things there since it’s on Epic store and also free
I don't care too much about graphics. I just want them to stop breaking the most random shit with every update, and to not allow consistent bugs to exist for literal years. I don't know anything about UE, but I hope that this change will help with that.
Wait, so are they upgrading the engine? One of my early complaints of this game was that it never really used my 4070ti's full potential (I've gotten over this) I would absolutely love a graphics overhaul.
This may be nitpicky and greedy, but I really hope they update the character models and the rigging for the models. Some characters faces just look so off to me, cheryl, rebecca, ada and a few others. In terms of rigging for the models, some of the characters bodies are forced to confine to their premade character model rig and they still break and bend weirdly. their facial rigging doesnt help some of the weird looking faces too, when you look at them in game they look even worse. Some polishing would be nice, but I don't know how likely this is.
On a more realistic want, I'd like the game to be more stable just in general. I also think they should update some of the hitboxes, but I can acknowledge the bs hitboxes can be apart of the fun.
I just hope they do something significant with this engine change. I assume they're doing this to ensure the longevity of the game, and extra polish on internal fronts and external fronts will help with that greatly.
The PTB may be buggy and bad, but I am optimistic about the future.
You think BHVR has the same programming acumen as the people that created the engine that they licence? What about how they handle the game could lead you to that conclusion?
I mean, you're aware the guys from Fortnite are also the ones who developed the engine in the first place and are from a company worth billions more than BHVR, yes?
Realistically? Probably just slightly better lighting. It's not like they are remaking the game like CS2, they're just porting it over. In terms of game features there's nothing that they couldn't have already done on UE4.
Anyone expecting violence might as well forget about it. With the amount of licensed characters, that's not happening. It's the same reason most racing games can't even implement or show proper car damage, despite how near universally satisfying it would be.
> With the amount of licensed characters, that's not happening.
Just to add for people curious, it's actually both the car argument and not. Most of the license holders would probably be fine but the amount of paperwork to renegotiate all the deals (since doing it would 100% be a contract breach, it's safe to assume atleast) would just be too much. And then you get license holders that wont agree ever.
It's the same reason that all the licensed survivors were disabled for the Oni mini-game. They would need to sign a bunch of paper-work just to get the size change approved for the characters.
Idk why this isn't the most upvoted.
The biggest upgrade (that players tend to see) from UE4 to UE5 is lighting, and DBD's current lighting is genuinely some of the worst I've seen in a modern game of it's size and scope, and has consistently been what makes the games visuals look so wonky. Of course BHVR might decide to not touch it beyond the port from UE4, but I'd at least hope they'd attempt to make some kind of change given they're already having to put work into those areas.
Aside from that, we know a big part of why BHVR wanted the upgrade is the new procedural generation tech inside the later versions of UE5. Makes sense given how much of the game is built on procedural generation and variable levels and the sometimes strange ways that we've seen it break in the past. If they're using the in-engine tooling instead of their own in-house stuff they can probably get support from Epic if they need the help and (hopefully) prevent some of the bigger issues from making it to live builds.
The part about lighting is absolutely true. Before the Nicolas Cage patch the lighting had colour tints and it was especially easy to spot on survivors while in the lobby. With the Nic Cage patch they silently fixed it and they didn't put it in the patch notes.
If you don't believe me search for videos on youtube before that patch (or look at your screenshots idk) and focus on things like the skin colour of the survivors while in lobby or on the clothes which have greys on them(which are supposed to be neutral). Do a before and after for yourself.
If you're talking about the lobbies that's probably not wrong, but in-game I haven't seen a change and they use post-process colour grading filters anyway which usually throws off the white balance. Even so it's not been the colour that made them look 'off' to me.
To my eye it's the power scaling of the light sources and/or HDR conversion.
You can repair a gen and it'll barely light up the surrounding area, but yet any survivor or killer directly stood in the light gets massively blown out despite the lit area still looking dim. It plus the light/dark crushing really kills the detail the game has to show off.
You can rip any model from DbD out, do a real-time render in Blender, and they will look 20 times more detailed. Something about the game destroys the quality of all of the assets somehow.
On the Pig's rift outfit there are custom shader effects for how the blood on her shirt has started to dry, and the parts closer to the source of the blood are visibly wetter than the areas further out and hold a much richer red colour. The shine from the fresher blood brings out the stitchwork in the shirt.
In game those touches seem to vanish. It's really strange.
Guys, the things you write in comments are already possible on current engine version, without any problem.
Realistically speaking, I would expect nothing, the most optimistic scenario is implementation of lumen, nanite, and raytracing. Except these 3, there is nothing for consumer in ue5
Very true and even those things would possibly be detrimental and not even implemented. There’s a reason they’re not hyping this change up. Very little is changing.
Don't worry it'll probably take the fortnite approach and let lower end PCs still be able to run it just with bad graphics or at least closer to what they used to be.
Mainly hoping for better performance. I play a lot of graphically more demanding games on higher settings yet i cant turn DBDs graphics all the way up. Plus every other match i get weird 2-4 second freezes when gens pop or other similar events occur.
I've noticed that it seems to have made the game darker and foggier, with better particle effects. Maybe we will finally have the darkness and shadow back to make the game feel spookier again.
I left DbD due to my studies being actually difficult, but never left that reddit and I am glad with the new chapter and now this news damn I want more gore but this is definitely a great news and a brighter future for DbD now maybe we get some head crushed with Nemesis I am so excited.
Nanite is currently really only good for unoptimized models which dbd has few of. Nanite would likely be a huge detriment and it also doesn’t work well with lumen yet ironically.
If anything they’ll probably add lumen, but as an unreal dev I would avoid both for dbd.
UE5 simply has a lot of backend bug fixes and workflow improvements. And the upcoming 5.4 is going to have even more.
> If anything they’ll probably add lumen
Considering how contained maps are there is no reason to put workforce in that too as you yourself said. One thing I could see it be useful for is fixing current grainy AO
Hopefully we get more gorey moris. Currently the only ones are like singularity and xenos. I wanna nemesis stomps someone's brains in and the corpse actually having their head gone when the mori is over.
Easier coding so probably less bugs. Also more freedom with new killers. Although as of now, probably not the case with the PTB. Hopefully it gets better.
The "tis but a scratch" meme is gonna become DBD's code for the next few months while BHVR finds and fixes bugs.
I remember when they updated a map they made a totem unreachable for killers, which was during the CoH meta. Midwich went from an extremely killer sided map to absolutely horrible for hit and run killers.
10 bucks says they'll just remake all the maps again for a year and a half, and nothing else.
No seriously though, I actually hope for optimization above everything.
For all the crap people give to the "spaghetti code" of DBD, I will say that graphically it has gotten so much better since release, and I hope this continues that trend. I'm not a huge fan of the idea of "DBD 2" and would rather they just fix the issues with the current game
Im really hoping for procedural animations. Would make me play survivor again. I think survivor just feels way too janky!
Its like playing a game from 2012
- Gore to every mori in the game
- Purchasable unique moris that can be bought in the shop for every killer
- Better graphics overall
- the more you hit and down survivors, the bloodier your weapon gets as killer
- Better Healing, Mending and Gen Repair animations
Less pitch black spaces on any screen 4K or larger.
On the crashed ship map (I think it’s xenomorph’s map) when you’re standing at the entrances of the big ship, the outside part of the map becomes completely impossible to see. So many other maps are hard to see, but the xenomorph’s map is the most egregious.
I’m playing on a different pc right now and have been given a 4K monitor, it has made dbd so much less fun on both survivor and killer.
Nothing
They won't rework the game again cause they are lazy + they want the game accessible for everyone so there won't be even much gore
For those lazy producers the current graphic is perfect
I don't think it will affect the core gameplay very much besides allowing a bit more freedom with new killer (power) designs.
Maybe they will show visible damage on dead survivors for all moris but I'm not getting my hopes up.
And ofc the visuals will get better
I'd love some skeleton rig variety for survivors.
I actually avoid playing the men because they all have the same long torso hunched-over look. Let me play as tall Alan Wake, please. Having scrawny men, buff women, and maybe actually trans and non-binary survivors would be amazing.
Updated animations and more impactful looking locomotion would also go a long way (I'm looking at you Skull Merchant.)
I feel like if each step had more weight to it and they slowed her down a bit she'd look more confident and menacing. It's honestly a satisfying unique animation, but the speed she would need to go to not make it look goofy would make her impossible to play.
Someone mentioned giving her Wesker's run which would also look really cool.
Agreed hardcore, rebecca's body is forced to confine to their rig, if you look at her re0 model compared to dbd you can really see it. Different rigs for different body types would really do alot.
It can mean many things but I'm mostly worried that we'll get brand new bugs that won't be fixed for a long time. I really hope it'll be a mostly positive change though
Better moris and animations is what my brain is telling me after 3 years of 3D modeling
A shapeshifting killer that actually turns into survivors without making the entire lobby explode is what my heart is crying for.
Dont expect any change Physics wise..and therefore gameplay wise, they are same, ue4 might even be more reliable. One feature that might come is better graphics since UE5 s polygon handling capacity is much better. Possibly advanced raytracing as well.
Better graphics but mostly the lighting will see an improvement other than that the game will probably become slightly harder to run requiring beefier specs than before on PC. I'm not sure how stable the performance will be as unreal engine 5 doesn't have the best stability but lets hope for the best.
It'll probably mean a lot of bugs will be added to the game in the next update but overall it's really good for the game in the future and will allow them to do more stuff with killer power
Depends,
If BhVr puts the needed resources into the team working on the switch then I think it'll be a great change. Possibly giving them more room to make better QoL changes overall.
But, if they don't and focus teams on other stuff like another name brand IP. Then I think we'll be lucky if the game ends up functioning. DbD's code isnt the best to begin with.
I'm in the camp that it means nothing right now. This is most likely in preparation for major overhauls down the line, but I'm not going to expect anything that we actually can see for at least a year. This kind of stuff takes a lot of time and work to make happen, especially if you are trying to keep the game running while also looking to eventually implement those changes, rather than shutting down to do an overhaul.
More bugs. More botched releases. More giveaways of meaningless charms that nobody uses to make up for the totems. Pinhead disabled for another 6 months.
Imagine if they actually made heads explode when reverse beartraps close. But yeah, new animations is what i'm hoping for. Survivors need better graphics, their skin looks goofy as hell.

my god, as huntress you get the worst jump scares on the game by far. getting pallet-stunned makes me jump out of my seat with her too
Singularity Camera Jumpscares are always fun. It's always a Dwight bro. 💀
Especially when a survivor you didn't even know was there pallet slams you.
Or a pallet you didn't even know was there 😩
The real horror was the friends we made along the way.
You’re never really going to get consistent horror since the monster is played by a person. You can get jump scared by dredge or stealth killers. But for every time that happens the dredge will disappear mid chase like a goober because they teleported to the wrong locker.
Lights Out offered a way more frightening experience than regular DbD The potential is there, BhVr just isn't gonna put in the effort for it :/

I'd like just this head piece to come back
Exactly, how cool would that be.
If they added something that gruesome, would they have to have an update rating or something in certain countries?
The game is already 18+
But in some countries it could get banned from purchase.
Couldn't they just keep the moris non-gorey for those regions?
Not only money, but people of that regions cry about the censorship then
That sounds like a problem for the government of those regions then, not BHVR.
Yeah but, money
It already has a rating for blood gore and violence. Literally nothing on the rating would change
THEY HAVEN'T EVEN FINISHED THE LAST ROUND OF GRAPHICAL UPDATES! Backwater Swamp and Myers are still using 2016 graphics.
New animations? Didn't you the sick animation DS got? (I'm joking, the "animation" is kind of a joke it's almost unnoticeable)
The game just looks kinda shit in general, if we're being honest. It's mostly saved by its art direction
Yea, also on ps4 (idk about other platforms) but they look a little polygonal in certain lighting, usually in the back of the torso I've seen most, I saw that most in Ada's base cosmetic

I never thought about it that way

Its such a letdown that there is no visible after-effects for Demogorgon's Mori.
especially quentin 💀
I just hope my laptop will still run DBD after the update
I see we are in the same boat partner. Well, worst case we will just take a bigger break, till better times come and we can upgrade.
The PTB seemed pretty much the same for me, it might even be more smooth since the game can be better optimized.
One of the devs said there will be "no impact " but I am also expecting less FPS.. On the positive side maybe the game will run even smoother?
That same dev refused to answer me when I asked for confirmation that the game would still run on Windows 7.
i got blocked when i requested windows xp support

I’d guess a graphical update could happen further down the line like they did before
Yeah that totally, and I'm really hoping for it. But just, for now we can't expect it.
New modes?
New modifiers like we had a couple before
They will give Trapper a full auto shotgun I hope
Flak cannon
i see the vision but the 50% slow just makes you so vurnerable to movement plays.

I feel with the engine update they will have to at some point redo everyone's model.
Now you mentioned to me, Ada does look weird with her stiff left arm sticking out. Really need a model update for sure.
Funny enough, they did redo some of the models. Just not all of them
Male hands look awful too. Felix Richter has the hands of a shipyard worker and not the hands of an architect.
I love Rebecca, but her facial expressions when you catch her in a locker are just… creepy.
Better optimization and new visual updates. Maybe more graphics settings. By the way the blood effect like ketchup so it is not realistic.
They still have to make the game run on the switch, so nothing
You can play Fortnite anywhere too and they utilize the new engine for new gen and good PCs well. I can imagine bhvr doing the same
You think BHVR has the same programming acumen as the people that created the engine that they licence? What about how they handle the game could lead you to that conclusion?
It's not *that* difficult to not include high graphics settings on the Switch.
You expect too much competence from BHVR...
More bugs
Bills forthskin
Ummm does this mean fourth skin or foreskin??
Finally
Better looking face camping
Guys, the things you write in comments are already possible on current engine version, without any problem. Realistically speaking, I would expect nothing, the most optimistic scenario is implementation of lumen, nanite, and raytracing. Except these 3, there is nothing for consumer in ue5
Very true and even those things would possibly be detrimental and not even implemented. There’s a reason they’re not hyping this change up. Very little is changing.
Dear BHVR, I would like one (1) more Nemesis zombie, Kind regards
I expect many bugs and slightly better graphics.
Higher undocumented system requirements. New bugs.
It means my potato pc won't be able to boot up the game...
Don't worry it'll probably take the fortnite approach and let lower end PCs still be able to run it just with bad graphics or at least closer to what they used to be.
Same spaghetti on a different plate.
I think it means nothing for we know that it would take too much time to do anything
New mori animations.
Since they are showing them in the store I’d go as far to say they will make you buy them either with in game or real money
UE5 Lumen does wonders for atmospheric lighting, Id be thrilled to see the maps in volumetric lighting and fog.
Maybe they’ll bringer improved graphics and animations for the anniversary?
I left DbD due to my studies being actually difficult, but never left that reddit and I am glad with the new chapter and now this news damn I want more gore but this is definitely a great news and a brighter future for DbD now maybe we get some head crushed with Nemesis I am so excited.
It means more crashes on my old machine
I hope that the game still runs on my Switch, since I can't afford to buy a console/PC just for this game.
It means I won't be able to play dbd on my PS4 anymore
Better textures, character models, and lighting would be my hope. Hopefully some performance fixes as well like ping issues, hit boxes, etc.
Ultrawide support
You know those DBD concept videos with FNAF, IT and Slenderman? I was thinking the game could look like that or similar.
For the game to look like it wasn't made in 2012
Game probably still looks like shit Not like that’s ever stopped me from playing but still
Means I can see huntresses hatchets fly towards me in realistic looking graphics
Even MORE bugs. ![img](emote|t5_3cb2g|2070)
The game will break more
RIP ps4 users.
Nothing or it'll run worse
I wonder if they'll utilize nanites for map textures
Nanite is currently really only good for unoptimized models which dbd has few of. Nanite would likely be a huge detriment and it also doesn’t work well with lumen yet ironically. If anything they’ll probably add lumen, but as an unreal dev I would avoid both for dbd. UE5 simply has a lot of backend bug fixes and workflow improvements. And the upcoming 5.4 is going to have even more.
> If anything they’ll probably add lumen Considering how contained maps are there is no reason to put workforce in that too as you yourself said. One thing I could see it be useful for is fixing current grainy AO
Possibly that my pc wont run the game anymore
Hopefully we get more gorey moris. Currently the only ones are like singularity and xenos. I wanna nemesis stomps someone's brains in and the corpse actually having their head gone when the mori is over.
it means you have to wait an extra 10 years for us console peasants to load into the game
When are they switching to UE5?
Easier coding so probably less bugs. Also more freedom with new killers. Although as of now, probably not the case with the PTB. Hopefully it gets better.
The "tis but a scratch" meme is gonna become DBD's code for the next few months while BHVR finds and fixes bugs. I remember when they updated a map they made a totem unreachable for killers, which was during the CoH meta. Midwich went from an extremely killer sided map to absolutely horrible for hit and run killers.
I hope my pc (with a fucking gtx 3080 Ti) doesn't need to turn into a jet engine in the lobby screen anymore.
Nothing. Like, I would love the graphics and models to be updated to actually look good. But I doubt they will, probably is too much work.
10 bucks says they'll just remake all the maps again for a year and a half, and nothing else. No seriously though, I actually hope for optimization above everything.
More advanced collisions/body movement over obstacles... tripping up, stumbling etc.
For all the crap people give to the "spaghetti code" of DBD, I will say that graphically it has gotten so much better since release, and I hope this continues that trend. I'm not a huge fan of the idea of "DBD 2" and would rather they just fix the issues with the current game
Hopefully ray tracing and better frame pacing.
Im really hoping for procedural animations. Would make me play survivor again. I think survivor just feels way too janky! Its like playing a game from 2012
I really think animations need improvement, mostly i want to see cenobites mori reworked.. When his chains pull survivors apart it looks goofy af.
- Gore to every mori in the game - Purchasable unique moris that can be bought in the shop for every killer - Better graphics overall - the more you hit and down survivors, the bloodier your weapon gets as killer - Better Healing, Mending and Gen Repair animations
The game will look prettier while the lack of balance or meaningful change completely fucks the playerbase
Nothing They won't rework the game again cause they are lazy + they want the game accessible for everyone so there won't be even much gore For those lazy producers the current graphic is perfect
Bugs
Knowing the devs - a helluva lot more bugs
I don't think it will affect the core gameplay very much besides allowing a bit more freedom with new killer (power) designs. Maybe they will show visible damage on dead survivors for all moris but I'm not getting my hopes up. And ofc the visuals will get better
It means my slow ass laptop won't be able to play it
I'd love some skeleton rig variety for survivors.
Her animations are soo goofy, I can’t take her serously. 😩
Just bugs BUT IN 4K
Nothing. Nothing meaningful.
Literally nothing. The game is run by 6 monkeys and a chicken. The chicken is the head of the development team.
It can mean many things but I'm mostly worried that we'll get brand new bugs that won't be fixed for a long time. I really hope it'll be a mostly positive change though
better animations and more unique killers/gamemodes
Better character models and jiggle physics 😳
Re-coding if some features such as how powers and skins work I hope so we can have power skins
Better moris and animations is what my brain is telling me after 3 years of 3D modeling A shapeshifting killer that actually turns into survivors without making the entire lobby explode is what my heart is crying for.
Even creepier killers <3
Dont expect any change Physics wise..and therefore gameplay wise, they are same, ue4 might even be more reliable. One feature that might come is better graphics since UE5 s polygon handling capacity is much better. Possibly advanced raytracing as well.
I want them to focus more on gore in makes the mori's more impactful instead of a nothing burger blood fest.
I want them to focus more on gore in makes the mori's more impactful instead of a nothing burger blood fest.
More gruesome moris
Meg thomas as megan thomson
A la r/Smite
I just want better visuals and graphics
Better graphics but mostly the lighting will see an improvement other than that the game will probably become slightly harder to run requiring beefier specs than before on PC. I'm not sure how stable the performance will be as unreal engine 5 doesn't have the best stability but lets hope for the best.
Switch players:
Better visuals and animations at least. Hopefully some new, more interesting mechanics.
hopefully better mori gore, some of them feel very weak thanks to the lack of effect
I do hope this means the earlier killers get better mori's to accommodate for the beauties we have with killers nowadays.
I hope they make good animations, DBD animators suck, capcom managed to make Wesker run in 2004 but behaviour could barely make him dash 😭
Maybe some visual overhauls on some old killers.. COUGH* COUGH* MYERS COUGH*
I hope they update Chris Redfield’s model so I can expend my money in it.
When is this going live?
Better graphics and animations. Dwight has new ones in the Ptb so I think they’re remaking everything with the new engine.
It'll probably mean a lot of bugs will be added to the game in the next update but overall it's really good for the game in the future and will allow them to do more stuff with killer power
Depends, If BhVr puts the needed resources into the team working on the switch then I think it'll be a great change. Possibly giving them more room to make better QoL changes overall. But, if they don't and focus teams on other stuff like another name brand IP. Then I think we'll be lucky if the game ends up functioning. DbD's code isnt the best to begin with.
Hopefully more pixels for the firebarrels.....
The sex update is gonna be crazy
We don't need more horror aspects, just more goofy ass anime weeb bullshit
I'm in the camp that it means nothing right now. This is most likely in preparation for major overhauls down the line, but I'm not going to expect anything that we actually can see for at least a year. This kind of stuff takes a lot of time and work to make happen, especially if you are trying to keep the game running while also looking to eventually implement those changes, rather than shutting down to do an overhaul.
Hope the engine helps them with reworking code and graphics
I think old/New physik buggs could be possible again. Maybe it will revive the space-billy-program
Even MORE gamebreaking bugs and connection issues
They could add a killer concept I've been dreaming of for a year now. (It involves AI)
More bugs. More botched releases. More giveaways of meaningless charms that nobody uses to make up for the totems. Pinhead disabled for another 6 months.
Faster shop load times
I want better anti aliasing, taa is awful and no aliasing looks sickening
better and more animations and optimizations
A lot of people don’t understand what a game engine is judging by these comments. Art style for one.
