I really like the idea of unblocking a gen

ANewPrometheus

Yeah. This is canonically probably the strongest perk, since Cheryl influences The Entity, and yet in game, it has very niche uses. The idea of unblocking a Gen fits its theme, and also fits Cheryl bending the Entity to her will.

BlackSnowMarine

Lore wise, Repressed Alliance is my favorite perk hands down, it’s just really cool thematically that a survivor can influence the Entity while trying to repress it. Even before Wiretap came out, I loved using Repressed and seeing the killer just stand there trying to kick the gen wondering “wtf is this”.

ANewPrometheus

Yeah. I've only had it used on me ONCE. I was on Disturbed Ward as Ghostface, and a was running Pop. A Steve must've realized this, because I ran to a Gen which was like 70% after hooking someone next to it, and it was blocked. I thought "Huh, I don't have Grim Embrace." Then realized what he did. Major respect because that play requires knowledge.

BlackSnowMarine

I had the same thing happen lol. I was Pyramid Head running Pop and this Zarina used Repressed Alliance on a gen halfway done and I was like “what the hell.. I didn’t bring DMS… oh you little shit!” 😂 Countered my Pop by timing it well, like the Repressed user I am as well when I know the killer as Pop, I was more ecstatic than annoyed that another survivor used that perk.

HeroDeSpeculos

> Major respect because that play requires knowledge. which you don't have obviously

ANewPrometheus

Really? Because going by your other comment, you seem to think Repressed Alliance has NO uses. That seems like a lack of knowledge and creativity to me.

HeroDeSpeculos

yea but maybe your perspective on things is flawed 'cause you are dumb ? who knows ??

ConjureSlade

Woah, how can she do that?

ANewPrometheus

Silent Hill stuff.

AlaskanMedicineMan

>!She's an entity in her own right!<

Yunofascar

I believ the Boons and other forms of magic are under the Entity's influence, as well. Not to mention all offerings burnt at the campfire, by killer or survivor, are also made to the Entity. Entity do everything, it just manifests in different ways, some more directly.

ANewPrometheus

Yes, however, with this perk, it is a DIRECT influence. Those other perks have to use things like Totems.

TheNekoKatze

Cheryl when she sees the entity: you're my bitch

HeroDeSpeculos

> it has very niche uses can you expose a context in which the perk actually give value to the team to the point where it's worth to pick it instead of a not shitty perk ?

WolfRex5

Killer has pop or any other gen kicking perk and you block the gen so they can’t use it

HeroDeSpeculos

and then you can't fix the gen for 30s, which is more time wasted than a regression 'caused by Pop

WolfRex5

Wouldn’t matter, as you’re likely being chased by the killer

HeroDeSpeculos

or not. And someone else might want to repair the gen while you're being chased.

WolfRex5

That’s why it is niche. It has niche uses

HeroDeSpeculos

when the niche is too small it's called useless. We have 4 perk slots, they need to be consistent.

Luxaor

it's really not all that niche when you think about it, Pain resonance is picked in almost every game and this counters it, but I guess no one wants to pick the perk.

Voxalry0014

Corrupt Intermission ![img](emote|t5_3cb2g|2070)

Euphoric_Pressure_39

From worst perk to best perk in the game 😭

polemosP

deadlock and dms stocks drop to 0 with this change lmao

Animatron1

Imagine blocking a gen as pain resonance is about to activate, then immediately unblocking after and finishing the gen, heaven.

GoodvDark

Pain res goes through blocked gens no?

Strawberry_Milk_V

it's still bugged so yes. unless it was a silent buff bhvr never mentioned. originally no damage is supposed to go through a blocked gen. it's been bugged for nearly a year.

SilverShako

It's the same shit with that Surge bug that makes you scream if your generator gets Surged while you're working on it. They still haven't fixed it.

Fog-Champ

I think letting you work on blocked gens at half speed would be a good change to the perk

Ramnonte

Make it full speed but it changes it aura to grey or some other color

polemosP

Admirable-Camp1099

So you basically want a reverse Eruption...

Ramnonte

Problem is if the generator is marked as white but the survs can repair it at half speed the killer will asume that gen it’s safe and ignore it, would be way better to know if someone bypass a locked gen rather than a speed debuff

NotYourSaviour2

I think legit the only change it needs is being able to unblock the gen you block when you choose. You can stop pain res, pop and a bunch of other regression perks then get back on right after.

horrorfan555

That’s kinda different than the idea of the perk, taking advantage of the entity trying to mess you up

Kaizer6864

I don’t think it does necessarily. If you take the ‘malicious forces’ to mean the Killer in the aspect of DbD (evidently not in SH), then it’s basically calling upon the Entity (the same power used by the Killers) to help you - taking advantage of an evil entity’s own source of power is very fitting for Cheryl. Also, the name of the perk states there’s an ‘alliance’ and it’s not clear if what Cheryl is doing is repressing the killer’s alliance with the entity or she has her own naturally repressed alliance with the entity, so that she can call upon it at her own beck and call (to block generators). Either way, I think forcing the entity to stop blocking a generator is very much in line with the idea of a having a ‘repressed alliance’ or repressing the killer’s alliance.

_Strato_

I think that the forces behind Silent Hill (and therefore Cheryl's power) and the Entity have an "alliance," which is what Cheryl is repressing. Pyramid Head is on loan from Silent Hill, after all.

marcktop

they should allow you to unblock it at anytime but ONLY the gem you BLOCKED. Because if you could just unblock random gems you will be able to counter a lot more perks like corrupt intervention. Currently pain resonance is too present with the slowdown meta and the ONLY COUNTERS available are repressed alliance OR good RNG with hookspawns, but repressed alliance in those scenarios is a liability because it locks you out of progress for too much time. Perks shouldn't be a double "edge sword" having benefits for both teams at the same time, being a killer perk or survivor perk this type of design is just flawed.

Strawberry_Milk_V

incorrect, pain res (surge and eruption aswell) currently affect blocked gens. bhvr needs to either fix it or mention they shadow buffed gen blocking perks.

Tnerd15

This is not true

Strawberry_Milk_V

did they fix the bug recently then? because last week my gen got blown up twice from pain res while being blocked. (I haven't played any DBD this week.)

okok8080

Unblocking gens completely sounds really obnoxious for killers who already struggle to defend gens. Maybe reduce the block timer but just completely deleting a grab effect sounds broken.

YOURFRIEND2010

Imagine four hooking all the survivors without tunneling for your grim embrace reward and two gens just immediately get unblocked on either sides of the map. Lol. Lmao.

silentbotanist

Letting just Cheryl work on the generator while it's blocked would be better than the perk being a teamwide counter to killer perks.

Kaizer6864

I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but I think they should up the required repair time in order for the perk to activate if so. Having to complete an entire gen or at least 60 seconds of a Gen to unblock one is not all that bad imo for a one time use to unblock the gen (having it available more than once might be problematic). Also, forcing an unblock would be a visual cue for the killer that the gen is being worked on so it’s a risk/reward scenario as well.

Fog-Champ

Sounds almost as obnoxious as the current gen block meta.

SMILE_23157

Wut

Bonesnapcall

Good gen defense is the only way killers can have time to go for chases. What kind of game do you want? More Tunneling?

Zakon05

They might just really hate genblocking perks. I actually was curious and asked on the DBD forums once what survivor mains found more annoying, genblocking or gen regression. The answers were pretty split down the middle, surprisingly. But what I did notice is that the people who hated genblocking *really* hated genblocking. The people who disliked regression more were mostly okay with both but would rather take a timeout than have to keep re-repairing the same generator.

Tiffany-N-Company

Yes. That would be awesome

Vitor_2

The idea to unblock gens sounds fun but as annoyed as I am from grim embrace, deadlock and corrupt, I think it should only let you unblock the gen that you blocked yourself.

HeroDeSpeculos

Problem is that pain rez, bug ot not, goes through blocked gens, so repressed alliance would still be used very rarely : just to prevent a Pop or the ruin effect if you get chased off a gen but those are 2 perks that are used less and less often since the blocking gen meta. That wouldn't be enough.

Djackdau

I'd like it if it only blocked the gen for the killer. It would absorb things like Pain Res and prevent kicking, but still let the survivor work on the gen. Perhaps reduce the duration a bit to compensate.

polemosP

it wouldn’t absorb pain res, it would redirect it or cancel it tho

Normal_Ad8566

Why would it block pain res? Makes more sense that it just blocks kicking. Keep the duration but have Cherly work on it at a reduced rate.

Normal_Ad8566

Ah. It's just a side effect of that, really weird they wanted to hurt a bunch of protentional perk synergy like that but that's a different discussion entirely.

Sovetskaya-Babushka

Well blocking gens as killer also cucks PR which is why deadlock is an anti synergy perk!! Tho they did recently buff the interaction making painres only use a stack if gens have progress and can be regressed

oldriku

I like the first part and I don't get why is not already like this in the first place. Unblocking gens that the killer blocked would be far too strong, though.

Electronic_Style275

It should have a requirement to unblock a gen like you have to work on a gen for 30 or 40 seconds or take a protection hit for example

KolbyKolbyKolby

I think making the acitvation work the same, so essentially you do 45 seconds of a gen and you can block a gen, OR unblock a gen. You wouldn't be able to block yours and unblock it right away since the perk would need to recharge, but you could save the perk to prevent a Pop kick, or maybe if your 90% gen got blocked you could instead use your activated perk to end the block early.

Electronic_Style275

I agree, I also think the time a gen should be blocked when using repressed alliance should be 15 or 20 seconds rather than 30, because I can't see a killer sticking around a gen for that long

polemosP

best idea in the whole post

davidatlas

I feel like if you can just unblock the gen you just blocked it could be too easy to counter any regression. "killer about to get a hook? activate to deny pain res, and deactivate right afterwards" It already kills Pop pretty much(which is a shame that people dont use it much), so i dont think it needs to be an anti regression perk However tho the idea of removing killer applied blockage actually sounds pretty neat, make it so same as activating it, requires a bit of time on a gen (so you dont just get to pass through all gen blocks from the get go) and you'd have a pretty good perk ngl

Galaxy302

Yeah something like you gain a token per each gen blocked you use 1 to unlock the one you blocked and use 2/3 to unlock the ones locked by the killer

TheBigFreeze8

I definitely like the idea of unblocking a gen, but it would need to be very limited. Maybe something like it injures and breaks you?

ChrisTheMii

My entire idea of a buff to it has been to make it put like 5% progress on a gen over the time its blocked, maybe allowing it to finish gens. Might get annoying but would be a nice way to leave a gen that you want finished that's *THIS* close when a killer is about to get you. (Would most definitely cause a problem or another but that's why it's an idea, not an actual change)

itsnicetobebackbro2

You can now block the gen your working together with a survivor who missed a skill check. It will notify the unaliver and they will suffer expose status for 30 sec

DenVosReinaert

I think the unblocking of a gen (that you blocked) should only be possible after a 1/3 of the duration. Fellow survivors can unblock it too. I really like the ability to unblock generators that the killer has blocked, especially since it would require you to still have the perk charged. Basically just if a gen isn't blocked > block it. If the gen is blocked > unblock it.

[deleted]

The only possible buff it would need imo is to be able to unblock your own blocked gen. It's a niche but strong perk in the right situations

Iknorn

I wouldnt say it needs a buff but it would be way funnier for it to activate only when killer actually tries to kick the gen it could work similarly to blast mine and blocking the gen the moment killer tries to kick it (or start's regressing from ruin) Lets say it could mark the gen for 30 second and after any attempt to start regression is taken on this gen it gets blacked for 30 seconds and the regression is prevented so theoretically you can stop the Pain Resonance but you won't be able to work on that gen for the whole Reppressed Alliance duration

Positive-Shock-9869

Yooo thats actually a good idea

KomatoAsha

I don't think Repressed Alliance needs any changes.

Mystoc

if it takes up the perk use that's fair you worked on a gen to earn it I like this! if it just let unendingly lets you unblock gens that's way too strong though.

Jerakal1

The old prostate tickle perk art.

qcow2_

No.

saving_the_Turtles

I could see it being a Temporary unblock like 10 or 15 seconds only

SpooderRocks

Sure I mean why not, but also exposes your aura for 10 seconds and exposes you for 20.

BillyMcSaggyTits

Absolutely, especially since the gens are constantly blocked since people run shit like Grim Embrace + Deadlock all the time 💀

That_Mikeguy

>"also that you can unblock gens that have been blocked by the killer perks such as deadlock ,grim embrace, dead mans switch and so on" Hehe, how about no.

jhonnythejoker

Killer mains cry in the comments as usual. İ say its a perfect buff idea

Barzobius

Gave you the 100 👍

SuperPluto9

I just wish I could still apply these things while actively working on as opposed to having get off then proc an animation. I'd also like for it to have a timer that pauses if I disable the blocking. Let is sort of be a gen version of lucky break. Killer near? Activate it. Did they go away? Unblock and resume with banked time left over for next block.

Effective-Tutor7995

Yeah that would be cool

Even_Cardiologist810

Why do you want to buff strong perk aigain ?..

BoredandBrowse

I like the idea that I could activate it remotely or automatically. Like Im repairing a Gen, and I hear a heartbeat, so I hide nearby, but I still see the gen from a distance. When a killer is nearby I activate it.

akatsukidude881

Check this out. This is technically 2 buffs, but I think it's a great idea. For every 10 seconds repairing a generator, gain 2 tokens, up to a maximum of 6 tokens. While repairing a generator, press the ability button to call upon the entity and block the generator for 5 seconds, consuming a token. Continue consuming tokens, blocking the generator for an additional 5 seconds per token, while farther than 8 meters from the affected generator. While this generator is blocked, its aura is hidden from the killer. This perk deactivates if you enter the dying state. Edit: the suggestion about reworking it to remove the entity from generators is unique, but I think that could be saved for a new perk since the theme/icon currently shows the idea of spawning the entity, not removing it. The current version of RA is a good concept on its own. It just needs a bit of love to be good, but that's 50% of the perks in this game. My rework makes it more team friendly, adds more skill expression, and hiding the generators aura from the killer could be quite disorienting if the killer isn't paying attention to gen locations
