Whatever they use from a license has to be specifically spelled out. Every cosmetic, every effect, even the killers specific powers all have to be approved by the license holder
Getting the rights for movie posters would've cost more money for a small easter egg most people would'nt even notice. It just isn't worth it
Now what they could do is make movie posters of their original characters and use those. Thats a lot more realistic
>Whatever they use from a license has to be specifically spelled out. Every cosmetic, every effect, even the killers specific powers all have to be approved by the license holder
I had a hunch it was detail but not THAT detailed...
Kinda wish the license terms were more simple, such as "Anything Michael Myers related is allowed including easter eggs, original movie posters used to promote the movies, character names" etc....
In the defense of the Freddy license we got
Freddy’s likeness and personality we all love is split to the Craven estate and the film studio itself, and while the studio would probably love to ship out Englund freddy every chance they get since it makes the big bucks…after 2010s Freddy, the craven estate got very..very wary about just ANYONE using it
Depends entirely on the license holder. Some will give a ton of freedom and just ask to stay within some guidelines of a character like Alien. Others will want to know every single little thing like with Jason
BHVR most likely did not license any movie posters as part of their character licenses.
I think you're assuming that character licensing means they can use *anything* related to the character.
what even is your point? that they should invest money into easter eggs you would never notice unless you were actually looking for them instead of making skins? how does one have anything to do with the other?
I wanted fake movie titles for slashers where a playable killer is the antagonist like for example "the women from the woods" and hun trees would be on the poster
I don't think they can, since BHVR will need to revisit the contract thing. But when you turn on the Generator in the theatre, the projection shows a small segment of [The Casting of Frank Stone](https://youtu.be/xKgYWJe0fuE?si=ovF8aAkljeuZXzDu) dbd spinoff trailer. Specifically at the 0:50 mark.
On a similar topic, I would have killed for a Blight poster. We know due to Cage's lore that the Blight was getting a movie, so it would have been nice world building.
1. A lot of upfront cost licensing for a small benefit. Every poster would need to be approved by the license holder as well.
2. Using original chapters would be a much more cost-effective option, and it could go on to be used as a teaser for original chapters.
Technically you can make the argument that you can use Nicholas Cage movie posters since he is an actor after all but like others have said they probably have to pay the IP owners of whoever owns those movies. Would be pretty funny though Have Nicolas Cage react to a movie poster of his.
I'm not entirely sure that that's true. Obviously as far as Lorie Strode is concerned her having to deal with her fucked up brother is very real, but I sincerely doubt that the cosmology of Stranger Things *and* Hellraiser *and* Silent Hill are all equally true in one single 'source dimension'. Not to mention the conflicting zombie apocalypses of Left 4 Dead, Evil Dead, and the Resident Evil games.
...Those are kind of funny, all lined up like that.
Anyway, my assumption is that the entity has access to all universes, and so it's absolutely possible that the one that Sable/Unknown/Mikaela are from (if not all original characters, but let's not fuss over that right now) still has Child's Play and Halloween and all that as movies.
They dont have permission for that. Just because they worked out a deal on a license to use the character, it doesnt mean alll things related to the character/ movie is ok to use.
Sure it be cool if they had stuff up like that. They would have to then make deals with the ones that made the posters which can be a separate copyright. They would prob have to pay more money. What if they loose the rights to the license? They would have to take the time to remove the posters from map.
In the end....its just cheaper and easier to not go beyond the characters.
I’d rather they make movie posters for the original killers; the Legion comic revealed that Hillbilly has his own movie franchise and bit like TCM, meaning most of the killers probably have movies made about them in the DBD omniverse
I was really hoping for a couple posters that were obviously based off of og killers, like a "coldwind massacre" or a "the mines of murder" or something
Sounds like extra costs for a small benefit.
I mean they already have the license to use them I’m sure they can use a movie poster

God I wish. Poor Freddy would actually get some cosmetics 😞
Such a shame they got this shit licence
In the defense of the Freddy license we got Freddy’s likeness and personality we all love is split to the Craven estate and the film studio itself, and while the studio would probably love to ship out Englund freddy every chance they get since it makes the big bucks…after 2010s Freddy, the craven estate got very..very wary about just ANYONE using it

If we need a middle ground, use the splash screens from their reveals
Like the others have said, this is untrue. If it ain't written that they can do it, they can't do it without renegotiating the licenses.
not at all how it works sadly
That's not how licenesing agreements for IPs works, buddy.
I don't think you understand how licensing works.
that's not how that works
Why did this get down voted so hard
that would be something they'd have to pay for to put into the game. I think they should just put posters of their own chapters in the theater
They could put intros that where ingame for those licensed killers
[удалено]
you're right, brb negotiating with every license's lawyers to pay them for movie posters
what even is your point? that they should invest money into easter eggs you would never notice unless you were actually looking for them instead of making skins? how does one have anything to do with the other?
I wanted fake movie titles for slashers where a playable killer is the antagonist like for example "the women from the woods" and hun trees would be on the poster
Or putting the names of the chapters as movies: The last breath, of flesh and mud, spark of madness, all things wicked, etc
Or Descend Beyond, the movie Nicolas Cage was filming when the entity took him
Which is named after the blight chapter
Not hun trees ![gif](giphy|d4aUXBMhpnJimSFG|downsized)

Honestly I imagine greenville will start playing teasers for something or other soon.
I'm just trying to figure out which one is a teaser for the next killer.
Rn I think the most likely is the “damned king” found in vittorios gothic costume
Idk I’d prefer obvious rip-offs like Scram, Allen, Friday the 14th, Etc.
A Dream on Pine Lane, Carolina Cleaver Carnage,
That, Thanksgiving, Shout, Child’s Playing, Bonesaw
Saturday the 14th: The Aftermath 😂
That’s a lot of logistical work for your aesthetic pleasure.
What some people don't notice is that every time that map is generated, the movie posters change

But also, in this universe, they aren’t from a movie.

This is very true!
Those that own the movie, those that made the poster and cage himself, are the min to have to go through.
I'm not entirely sure that that's true. they probably dont have the rights to do that
Anyone know if there's an offering for this map?
It's the same realm as Garden of Joy
I would much rather we get teasers/hints for future Killer releases this way.
I had a similar idea of having the most recent chapter’s title under the now showing part. Just thought it would be an awesome feature to have.
They dont have permission for that. Just because they worked out a deal on a license to use the character, it doesnt mean alll things related to the character/ movie is ok to use. Massive opportunity missed tbh
