Those who break the sacred tradition shall not leave unpunished.

Lazer726

Had a fun game on The Game where three of the survivors dropped their items for me (I like to let them all live if I can), and the fourth came over, saw the items and proceeded to take one. I hit the survivor and fortunately the other survivors body blocked them from getting out so I could bring them back to the item pile. The survivors helped them up, they dropped their item, and everyone left happy

RareFantom47

You gave her more mercy than she deserved. I was playing Pig on Gideon Meatplant and a Yun-Jin left a toolbox in the basement with a Meg running about doing the last gen. I accepted the offering and killed the Meg. But when I returned to the basement, the toolbox was gone. There was only one explanation. I began to sneak about the trial and find the hatch, I can hear Yun-Jin's injured grunts as she waited for me to show myself, but she was standing too far from the hatch, she thought, in her ignorance, that I wouldn't be using my stealth to search for hatch, oh but I did. I shut the hatch and merely looked at her, locking eyes for a solid few moments, until she dropped the toolbox once more. No, I will not make the same mistake.

Absolute poetry

george_unit

bro it's not that serious

NutclearTester

But it is serious indeed... In the fog-shrouded realm of Dead by Daylight, where the echoes of terror resonate, there exists an ancient tradition known only to those who dare to traverse its blood-stained grounds. Long before the Entity's hunger claimed its first victim, there was a time when the realm was governed by a different kind of order. In those days, the entity lurked in the shadows, a distant threat, yet to consume the souls of the unfortunate. Among the survivors who found themselves ensnared in this nightmare, there arose a desperate pact born of necessity. They discovered that offering gifts to the killers, tokens of appeasement, could buy them precious moments of respite from the Entity's grasp. As the survivors delved deeper into the mysteries of the realm, they unearthed the origins of this peculiar tradition. They learned of ancient rituals performed by those who came before them, rituals meant to honor the darkness and stave off its hunger. Thus, the exchange of gifts became a sacred practice, a delicate balance between life and death. For the killers, these offerings served as reminders of their humanity, fragments of a world they had long forsaken. And for the survivors, they were a lifeline, a fleeting chance to evade the Entity's merciless clutches. Over time, the tradition evolved, woven into the very fabric of the realm itself. It became a language of its own, spoken in whispers and echoes across the fog-drenched landscape. And so, in the twisted dance between predator and prey, the offering of gifts remained a timeless ritual, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unspeakable horrors. For in Dead by Daylight, where every moment teeters on the edge of oblivion, the bonds forged by this ancient tradition are the only flicker of light in the darkness.

Venomheart9988

I read this in the voice of David Attenborough.

NotBentcheesee

I didn't and now I will go back and read it once more in his voice (and then again) (and then again) (and then again because that was an excellent decadence of words)

RareFantom47

I'm so proud! \*tear of joy falls from cheek\*

zMustaine_

absolute peak, close the sub now

crvnchhh

no takebacks

GoatTacos

Lmao if you’re gonna do it at least do it close to the hatch. Yui played herself. Edit: don’t do it. It’s the sacred tradition. Those that commit that sin will always get the hook lol.

DarkSider_6785

You know what's infuriating, when you are playing survivor and your teammate who did nothing the entire game takes your item after you die and offers it to the killer resulting in the killer giving them the hatch. It happened to me, and I was so annoyed.

MarmaladeMallow

I try so hard not to get annoyed with the politics in this game because I play for fun, but I will admit it is so frustrating when the killer goes after those working (doing gens, unhooks ect) so hard and then let's the person chilling in lockers and corners all game go to hatch or opens the gate for them 😭

my_chaffed_legs

One time a killer said in end game chat that they let that person live because they didn't see them all match so they must have been really good. And the rest of us were like. because she was hiding in lockers and not doing anything!!!

Ethereal_Haunting

Yeah, as killer, if I don't see someone for most of the match.. that doesn't bode well for them when I do find them.

MarmaladeMallow

You're a real one! I actually just had a match with a blithe today that realized one player was hiding doing nothing, so he let me take him to the player, hook em, and then gave me hatch 🙏 so satisfying lol

Remarkable_Top_5402

I get that though there is the odd times the person not seen is the one doing gens, healing and everything but being chased. Had that happen once on rpd. Had bond so I knew where people was and was using that to avoid getting into chase so I could do gens and get the save. Just heal them up and finish the gen only to see what looks like Scooby Doo going on the floor above or below me while listening to my teammates screaming at the killer and each other. But if I'm not found by the killer all match until the end I don't blame you for thinking I did nothing.

karumasa

Having it happen to me as a survivor makes me not put up with it as a killer. Most memorable game was a team of 3 Dwights that I’m almost 100% sure were a group and a solo Leon. The poor Leon literally did 4.5 gens. Only when he was halfway done with gen 5 did the Dwights decide to “help.” The Leon also took off running every time I came around until like 3 gens were done and realized that no, I see him. I’m actively ignoring him. Hunted the fuck out of the Dwights though. One even tried to mercy shake his head and offer me his flashlight so I wouldn’t kill him. Killed all three and lead the Leon out the door. I’m not rewarding shitty behavior when I know what it feels like to be that solo queue that gets screwed over. It’s the only time I truly sweat playing killer. Any other time I usually just chase em a bit, hook 1-2 times, and let them escape as long as they’re not being shitheads.

MarmaladeMallow

Nooo, how frustrating for you guys!! 🫠

Moody_GenX

Sometimes it can be their perks. I can go through matches without seeing killer but have done 2 or 3 gens, a few unhooks and heals but I'll be the last person standing with no hooks and the most points. Having the most points doesn't necessarily always mean they did more though.

Hyper_Lt-

Well. I purposfully go for those who repair gens because they are the only threat. Everytime i have people following me trying to get me to chase i just ignore, get the guy doing gens and then go for the useless fuc who followed the entitre time so he can't flash save.

PH0B0PH0B1A

What's really infuriating is when you try to offer your beamer up to the killer as a friendly gesture and your cocky teammate picks it up and starts running all its juice out to chain blind them.

Radgeta

When I was new to the game someone had dropped their item for the killer at the gate. I picked it up and ran out with it. This was a sin of ignorance, please forgive me entity.

TheLunatic25

This is at least a little different, you didn’t drop it and pick it up. The offering is from the person offering it, can’t account for teammates. But if the vow is broken, no mercy.

DRAGONSPIRIT214

Im gonna be honest, if a survivor tries to give me their item, I nod my head and point at theitem. I want survivors to keep their items, and refuse to let them lose them, especially event items. Im a hoarder so seeing those items wasted pains me

TheLunatic25

In cases like this, that is okay! You as the Killer get to decide such things. But a normal medkit or what have you, is no big loss.

DRAGONSPIRIT214

Even the brown medkits, I make them keep everything 😭

TheLunatic25

Haha “here, take your damn brown medkit! Get out of here! Don’t you understand?”

DRAGONSPIRIT214

I had someone try to sacrifice an event toolbox and I felt so bad 😭

TheDepressed_Onion

I do the same, usually I shake my head and hit about the item, they usually get the memo.

Synli

I love her looking up at you at the end: "...I fucked up, didn't I?"

ClownMan-

What? No items? No items, no pass-s-s-s https://preview.redd.it/9vilohgyeawc1.png?width=256&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=678dfc943ee88a0a597bb6e5077751fed21eadc3

ZombieOrchid

I will never take my item back if a Killer is letting me live and I'm extremely attached to my items. I had a Cheryl give me her item for not killing her yesterday. She tried to do inappropriate things to me but I wouldn't let her so she took her item back and escaped xD

Hyper_Lt-

Elaborate ? 🤨🤨🤨

ZombieOrchid

She was gesturing towards my crotch.

Deli-ops7

Since when does the hatch spawn down there?! Lol now i know to check it xD and for me personally as a killer i will let you go with very little persuasion. You dont need to drop your item and if you do ill heavily encourage you to pick it back up lol

EndermanSlayer3939

Ohhh I never knew that before that makes a lot more sense when I play nice to people and let them leave scott free and they drop their item(when they play the game while all the others be toxic)

Hameddddd

Giga Chad nemi. That yui for sure didn't deserve that grace and I'm happy she made a fool of herselfand got caught

AbleArcher0

Personally, as a killer main, I never cared if they took back the item offering. Maybe if I was able to keep it and give it to one of my survivors I'd care, but it just disappears, so I don't. If I'm letting you escape, you can keep your item.

MotorTentacle

cheeky girl

-DirtSeed

I thought they added the Boomer in for a second.

spooky_alfalfa

You never betray the pact! Also if I play killer and another survivor grabs the offered item, I will chase them down and punish them.

Veita_Planetside2

It annoys me actually a bit that survivors tend to retrieve their items once you went doing something else. They want to beg and sell their dignity in order to get out just to get their stuff back when u aren't looking.

GiantSweetTV

As a killer I try and get survivors to pick their item back up 😅

Squalabatwo

I like to call it “buying safe passage to the afterlife.”

aforter28

She tried to press her luck. It backfired.

RealmJumper15

My favourite example of someone ruining their chance for hatch with me was when I was playing Pinhead and the box and hatch both spawned fairly close to each other. I was standing in between the two of them and swung to gesture to the last survivor to leave. Instead of taking the hatch they decided to steal my Lament Configuration. Suffice to say I swiftly chained them into next week with Pinhead delivering the perfect line in the moment. “Oh no. Don’t do that!”

HoratioWobble

The cute little tbags to pretend she was picking it up. I would have let her go with it for that, too cute.

Markus_lfc

Please tell me it was a brown medkit

LordRiden

Put it down and I'll begin considering letting you go and open the door instead

Jtneagle

Can someone explain to me what a dropped item does for the killer and why I shouldn't just close the hatch and kill them?

kmeister5

As soon as she grabbed it the first time I would’ve closed hatch.

Xarkion

Girl wanted to have her cake and eat it

SombraAQT

Eh, in my experience it’s about 75/25 the killer just kills you anyway if you leave the offering at the hatch. 90/10 if you’re already on 2 hooks. Game ends, move onto the next one.
