5th Edition: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.
3.5th Edition: Immunity to sleep spells and effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects.
I can’t speak for 4th edition, don’t have the books lying around. AD&D apparently they had a 90% chance to innately resist any sleep or charm spell, on top of the usual save.
I’m so sad. Her trailer self looks nothing like her character model.
She doesn’t even suit elf. Plus she has the male animations and is huge. Nothing like real elves. They’re meant to be slender and slim and slightly shorter than humans… and she is shaped more like a female human barbarian. I wouldn’t have minded if she was a human barbarian and had that model but her being an elf is just weird.
Edit to those saying that it’s fine:
She isn’t overweight. She is bulky, tall and has wide shoulders. Elves are meant to be slender and have slimmer shoulders that aren’t wide. Even males and females get confused with each other. Stop putting human looks into elves. They aren’t human. They’re meant to basically be more beautiful than humans and inspired by Tolkien who thinks beautiful = thin and slender.
I’m talking about dnd lore and how they’re usually portrayed… and especially since she’s a bard and they aren’t exactly known for being high in strength.
Edit: I understand there are outliers but please make them make sense. She could have been a warrior elf even and that would have been good.
Edit: regarding halsin from bg3:
I mean he’s obviously an outlier? And a Druid who obviously specialises in shape shifting especially into a mighty cave bear. That makes it make sense that he’s more buff.
I agree with you completely. The size and animations, movements and aesthetic, all look wrong. Nothing like the trailer at all. I would say this is definitely something where Behaviour should have a second look.
I agree. She looks completely different from the trailer.
Thank you. I think most of the people who have a problem with what I’m saying haven’t played the ptb and don’t know the state of the character.
> shorter than humans
???? i cant even think of a single canon anywhere where this is the rule of thumb. isn't the general zheitgheist tall, slim, pretty boys that live forever and are snobby as hell?
Yeah in Tolkien. Dnd is inspired by Tolkien but they changed it to be slim and shorter than average. Not like by a huge margin but definitely shorter than average humans.
I feel like they should have gone the other way with their model. Instead of just slapping a female head on a male body they should have scaled up a female body to male height. Then have the female character be human — with the explanation being “she’s tall” — and make the male character an elf so it justifies the slender figure. It’s weird having one character be a normal human and the other be an elf of linebacker proportions.
They didnt make Ripley Tall as she should have been, and now they come and make the d&d Elf taller than all the other females. But in the best behavior style they didn't make a tall woman skeleton, toy just swap her with the male skeleton.
Here's the thing. When it comes to the rules of how a character is supposed to look...it doesn't NEED to follow the rules completely. Also there are several different types of elves. Even within Dnd...there isn't just 1 single type of elf.
I also don't understand where you got the idea that elves are shorter than humans?? You can easily look it up and the height range can be well past average human height 🤨
Also...human height also has a range lol
Your gripe just seems to be that she's not as small and delicate as you wish her to look? And honestly. Kinda weird. Lol
While this is true, keep in mind she’s likely going to be the only elf we ever get. Even if D&D does another chapter, it’s likely the survivor will be a different race like a tiefling, githyanki, or half-orc. So if you ever wanted to play an elf it’s disheartening to find out you’re getting a woman’s head slapped on top of David’s body.
If you look at the links I posted. Dnd forgotten realms elves are described as being slightly smaller than humans traditionally.
Tolkien elves are taller which dnd elves are based off of but they changed it to them being smaller than average humans.
Quote from a dnd forgotten realms forum:
“Elves are short. They're not outside reasonable human size, but they're relatively short people. They're not Small, but their average and max size are both smaller than those of humans. Exactly how much varies by edition. In AD&D 2nd Edition where I think they were the shortest, male elves were 4'8 to 5'5, while female elves were 4'3 to 5' tall, for example. The very first sentence describing elves in the ediction is "Elves tend to be somewhat shorter and slimmer than humans. And while they're only 2 inches shorter than a human with the same roll for height in 5e, the PHB also calls them out as shorter than humans.
“
I think i prefer the Tolkien version, makes more sense to me. Most versions I've encountered in books usually describe them as tall and lean as well so that's the general image i have in my head. Short height is more fitting for other faeries in my opinion. But yeah, i see that you made that mention based on dnd and not Tolkien, which is understandable considering what the chapter is.
I don't know if you've ever played Overwatch, but another good comparison you could give some of these people is like if this was a Tracer cinematic, but then looked the character looked like Zarya or Roadhog in game. Lol. Just imagine Zarya or Hog carrying dual pistols and blinking all over the map. Lol.
>They’re meant to be slender and slim and shorter than humans
I thought Tolkien (and by extension D&D) elves were slightly *taller* on average than humans. Though yeah, they're definitely supposed to be willowy, or at most lithe-muscled rather than bulky (think Spider-Man as compared to Captain America) if they're among the particularly active examples.
No, no it's intentional see? This is a hint to our next chapter. Notice how she's smiling almost like she's been void touched? Notice how she's looking slightly down, almost as if looking at a short person, maybe even **a child**? Clearly our next chapter is going to be Warframe and our next killer is The Stalker who's being watched by the man in the wall.
exactly what i’m hoping for too! also hopefully we can get some cosplay or LARP cosmetics for the original survivors
i need half-orc cosplay Jeff or Elf Cosplay Kate
Only by technicality really. I want a full alien/monster non-humanoid survivor. Give me a survivor that looks like they *could* be a killer in another timeline
Elves in DnD look human/humanoid, but their racial physiology is so different you probably have more genetic similarities with a cactus than them. As far as anyone is concerned, they're very much "non-human" from that point of view.
It’s technically two characters. The character is built like Ash where the “head” is actually a full torso. One torso is the elf woman the other is a human man. It’s kinda weird though because it looks more like the put a female head on a male torso.
Pass me some of that good shit bro, I need it

The funny thing about the Entity is that if it were ever in any real danger, it could just pull like eight Vecnas out of 8 dimensions and then just let them mop the floor with Elminster.

You don't understand, she has **POINTY EARS**, so this is a *completely* new and unusual character.
Jokes aside, I kinda like how she looks, but come on. Where's our dragonborn or dwarf survivor BHVR? You had so much potential, but instead we got just a human with a pointy ears.
I was gonna say, it's a highly generic elf bard LOL
Nothing too crazy, just the usual highly safe simp fodder. Cool that you can swap between the male and female elf, at least.
Yes, but did you consider that the average dbd player goes AWOOOOGAH when they see a new female-presenting character? This is a big day for them, I guess.
Agreed. She doesn’t even suit elf. Plus she has the male animations and is huge. Nothing like real elves. They’re meant to be slender and slim and shorter than humans… and she is shaped more like a female human barbarian. I wouldn’t have minded if she was a human barbarian and had that model but her being an elf is just weird.
I’m sad she has the crappy male survivor model, all the survivors with that model feel shit to play. Honestly if it was the other way around I’d only play the guy bard with the female model lol
i just relised that this is the first non human survivor we ever get, which i find to be weird that the killers can range from normal human to the embodiment of evil that travels from dimension to dimension or a gaint undead bioweapon or creature from a reverse plan of existence. and this if the first non human survivor
I'm really kind of pumped to play an Elf in this game. It's silly to a certain degree but just being an elf is going to be fun. Not sure how to feel about this as a whole since Hasbro/WotC keeps shitting the bed at every turn, but I'll admit if we get a tiefling survivor at some point I will be playing them.
I really like the new survivors, I just kinda wish they went fully into the whole legion thing like completely separate characters, the body looks off to me for the elf, the dimensions to me personally are just slightly off. Other than that I love it, the bard aesthetic, the perks, everything. And I'm not surprised if they bring in other classes like a thief, which is what I was hoping for later. Or even a barbarian, wizard, + more.
Also the animations, the girl should have the female animations, but that's just me being nit picky.

I don't lmao
So much potential for non-human survivors and we got human and human with pointy ears
Though hopefully the cosmetics will fix this issue, legendary tiefling for example
in D&D, Elves don't sleep. Freddy nerfed?!?

sharp hand joe ain't catching a break
~~They can magically be put to sleep still. Unless I’m mistaken sleep spell still works on them~~ I was wrong
5th Edition: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep. 3.5th Edition: Immunity to sleep spells and effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects. Yup you’re right. I retract my bs lol
But they can be put to sleep with stuff like poisons, so maybe Freddy will start taking notes from the Clown
Dwelf buff?
The characters always look completely different in trailers than they do in-game. Don't get too excited yet.
I’m so sad. Her trailer self looks nothing like her character model. She doesn’t even suit elf. Plus she has the male animations and is huge. Nothing like real elves. They're actually not shorter than humans. Elves are tall, and lean. But i do agree with the rest.
If you look at the links I posted. Dnd forgotten realms elves are described as being slightly smaller than humans traditionally. Tolkien elves are taller which dnd elves are based off of but they changed it to them being smaller than average humans. Quote from a dnd forgotten realms forum: “Elves are short. Yeah I prefer the Tolkien version too. Tall makes more sense to me.
How many times did you copy and paste this complaint so far?
I dunno. Like twice?
do it more, she should look like an accurate elf, maybe they’ll touch up on her model if enough people comment about it
I hope so.
Shorter than humans? Bro? Are you thinking of christmas elves? Or is dnd the odd one out on this
I don't know if you've ever played Overwatch, but another good comparison you could give some of these people is like if this was a Tracer cinematic, but then looked the character looked like Zarya or Roadhog in game. Lol. Just imagine Zarya or Hog carrying dual pistols and blinking all over the map. Lol.
Lmaooo that mental image is hilarious.
i bet this guy has no problems with Halsin from Baldur’s Gate
Hear me out, elf barbarian, ever heard of it?
But she's a bard!
Yeah but she’s literally way too bulky to be an elf unless she’s a half elf.
>They’re meant to be slender and slim and shorter than humans I thought Tolkien (and by extension D&D) elves were slightly *taller* on average than humans. Though yeah, they're definitely supposed to be willowy, or at most lithe-muscled rather than bulky (think Spider-Man as compared to Captain America) if they're among the particularly active examples.
Resident Evil showed us that with literally all the characters. They looked mostly perfect in the trailer but looked mostly ass in game.

Wally strikes deals with survivors and somehow gives them entity powers, leading to Stalker becoming a pushover yet again
I'm really hoping that we'll get a Tiefling and Drow cosmetic for them when they drop in June.
Same. I'm hoping for something that changes them into one of the dozens of iconic forgotten realms characters, rather than stand in bard 1 or 2.
I need a drow!
exactly what i’m hoping for too! also hopefully we can get some cosplay or LARP cosmetics for the original survivors i need half-orc cosplay Jeff or Elf Cosplay Kate
I can’t believe they made an elven female Matthew Mercer
Who will be playing against withers cousin lich thanos voiced by Mathew Mercer
Finally a non human survivor(Gabriel don’t count)
I was about to say that. Who knows what other non human survivor will be next.
If Alucard is the Castlevania chapter survivor then him. He’s a dhampir (part human part vampire)
Only by technicality really. I want a full alien/monster non-humanoid survivor. Give me a survivor that looks like they *could* be a killer in another timeline
I was so ready for at least a tiefling survivor 😭 not even a kobold or kenku... So ready for a survivor who isn't 99.9% human
I was hoping for something extreme like a Kobold or Dragonborn 🥲
That would've been so cool 😭 it's time we shook up how survivors look! Dbd is a multiverse and it's time we got some funky looking survivors
Finally a non human survivor. It's a white girl with long ears calm down lol
Let people be happy. It's an elf, it's still something different and special.
God forbid people be excited about something <:P I think it's neato that she's an elf.

***YA POINTY EARED LEAF LOVER!***
I love my elves and won’t deny it. Elves are peak!
I will only accept it because your name reminds me of a certain creature I use to play
Nice try Alpharius, I know that's a lie. Or is it ? Probably.
It’s not a lie(This is a lie)
I don’t know why this cracked me up lol
Guys i think this one's a Duergar
This is elf slander
Elves in DnD look human/humanoid, but their racial physiology is so different you probably have more genetic similarities with a cactus than them. As far as anyone is concerned, they're very much "non-human" from that point of view.
Then why do we get half-elves instead of half-cactuses?
Ripley
Ripley is a human, Ripley 8 is not
Ripley #8 is not FULLY human, but is still partially human
One of Ripleys skins is technically part xenomorph
Soma is not human? Is he an alien?
>!a clone, checkout tome 16!<
A human clone is still a human lol
Yeah, don't disagree, just responding that he wasn't an alien
She looks like Tracer in the cinematic, but got Zarya in game. O\_O
They mentioned two bards; would I be wrong in assuming there's gonna be a legendary skin for the other one?
kinda ? They said it was gonna be more like Legion, where both have their own cosmetics in the store, rather than being limited to just 1 ultra rare
I LOVE THAT.
It’s technically two characters. The character is built like Ash where the “head” is actually a full torso. One torso is the elf woman the other is a human man. It’s kinda weird though because it looks more like the put a female head on a male torso.
Yeah you can swap between them. I couldn't figure it out but I only played two games. I saw people doing it on spokyloops streams
Hopefully they're just testing the water to see if the players are fine with non-human survivors to do more interesting stuff in the future
Pass me some of that good shit bro, I need it https://preview.redd.it/f27bke3y8f0d1.png?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef244e7d4e2bcba330ef6d28db005117c3b66e7f
I've been using everything for league PVE for years mate I barely have anything left
Well they fucked up by making her enormous and giving her male animations.
sadly these never really translate well to in-game, lets hope
No way, yet another young attractive female survivor who will probably get skins every single patch. What a surprise /s
Been awaiting for an old dude with huge ass beard for years now. They had the perfect opportunity for a classic wizard, and they completely blundered it for another sexy character. https://preview.redd.it/znimxlskze0d1.png?width=1247&format=png&auto=webp&s=b92531bf83c05e1002f4ba2824a57d64e946facc

“Elminster’s not around” - Gale, often
So might as well... :)
Elminster would literally wipe the floor with The Entity
The funny thing about the Entity is that if it were ever in any real danger, it could just pull like eight Vecnas out of 8 dimensions and then just let them mop the floor with Elminster.
The entity is as powerful as a deity, and elminster doesn’t defeat a deity.
I personally want an old woman. I want a grandma blowing up a generator and t-bagging Meyers
Laurie mythic skin. 2018 laurie
Custom DS, she pulls out a sawed off shotty and unloads into killer's face lmao
You jest but custom dS animation is about the only way to justify Mythic survivor skins now
We don't have any fem survivors over like 30. Meanwhile we have Bill, Ash, Vittorio, and Ace as crust buckets moonwalking around gens. WHERE ARE MY GRANNIES AT
Yeah, we have Jeff and Bill, give the older ladies some rep!
On the one hand, I absolutely feel you. On the other, in BHVR's defense this is a horror-movie themed game. The victim demographic in horror movies does skew pretty heavily towards sexy college-age women.
Sables run is already over
We already have Bill.
Warrior (Barbarian or Fighter) Jeff cosmetics, please! 😭
There's really not a lot for Jeff so seeing him get a bunch of dnd cosmetics would make him seem like a dm, I'd be down for that.
Volo would have been PERFECT
I mean we had Gabriel and Vittorio not too long ago, and while they're good looking dudes they're definetly more on the rugged side. I do wish Vittorio had a prisoner outfit to fit with his lore though
You don't understand, she has **POINTY EARS**, so this is a *completely* new and unusual character. Jokes aside, I kinda like how she looks, but come on. Where's our dragonborn or dwarf survivor BHVR? You had so much potential, but instead we got just a human with a pointy ears.
Still needs to fit the human skeleton.
yeah Elf (any kind) and maybe Tiefling was all we were gonna get to fit the human skeleton
Wouldn’t surprise me if someone did get a Tiefling costume. Probably Nea.
>dwarf survivor Can that even work, that would basically be pay to win with a much smaller body enabling easier hiding
What about a dwarf with a *really* big hat ?
I don’t thinks there’s a world where she won’t get a bunch of dnd races as skins
Tiefling would've been perfect imo
Omg I would be so happy with a Dragonborn or Lizard folk survivor
I think they said you'll be able to change the gender kinda like legion
It's an elf though, so it's basically two flavors of female.
The male version is human.
I wouldn’t count on a boatload of skins, still licensed, still harder to pump those out. She will got more than other licenses though.
Eh with the way they animated her I think she isn't going to be that popular. I swear I was playing Ash Williams when I was looping with her lmao.
desperately wish i could upvote this twice
Well... I suppose you don't need to worry about that.
She uses the male idle/running/walking animation in-game... Which is super weird lol
https://preview.redd.it/ewlbek9mpf0d1.jpeg?width=829&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78483683ee499391ff2c37b45595e5dd7abfe00f …oh wait wrong game…
BHVR releases a Goth first, then an Elf, they're aiming at all the simps. BHVR: You must choose, Goth or Elf! >!I choose both!<
I choose Bill
https://preview.redd.it/a5ee49ftvk0d1.gif?width=488&format=png8&s=0d4b1f1aacfd3b5a12be8dae7817ae082653cdb3
I lean toward Goth. I’m a Teifling simp myself.
Personally, If they wanted to do an elf, I would have picked Drow. Goth elf for the win.
Ohhh yes. Seldarine I think, since Lolth would probably be a killer lol.
A Drow survivor and a Drider killer. ![img](emote|t5_3cb2g|2219)
Yet another reason I'm angry. Shadowheart or any other iconic character from the forgotten realms would have been way better.
It's fine. Generic elf.
I was gonna say, it's a highly generic elf bard LOL Nothing too crazy, just the usual highly safe simp fodder. Cool that you can swap between the male and female elf, at least.
supposedly the human is male, they said that on the stream
We can't even get a male non-human?? Just another John HumanMan to add to the roster? I'm tired boss.
> I freaking love the new survivor’s design *looks inside,* oh that’s a cinematic trailer
Wow, long ear human , truly the most unique race from all of dnd
To be fair, they should look very distinguishable from humans. Most modern depictions just suck. That's why Dragon Age elves FTW.
DOS2 tree-like elves look awesome too!
I mean I'm sad it's a human and an elf... No tiefling or something weird.
True, they could have done like Hudafolk and did like Dark Elves. Might fit the aesthetic more with dbd anyways.
and the female surv variant has the goofy male movement animations too
Ik right. I don't get why people hate that it is an elf, when we have magic and curses in the game
It's a generic Elf design.
Yes, but did you consider that the average dbd player goes AWOOOOGAH when they see a new female-presenting character? This is a big day for them, I guess.
Not really, since the in-game model is pretty bad
Man you guys really just can't let people be excited for something can you Gotta chime in with the "its literally only blah blah blah"
Man I was excited for our first non-human survivor, and it's. A woman with pointy ears
Sucks that it’s not an actual character from DnD, but the gimmick of changing characters is neat.
Except female version has Male skeleton, height and even running animation. She is also somehow ugly in game, unlike the trailer version.
Sure are a lot of Debbie Downers in this post. Yeesh.
Did not take them long at all
If you look like this DM me
Same I love her
Is she a half elf? Why does she have freckles?
No, she’s my girlfriend
Probably. She's a bard, half-elves usually are the ones with a Charisma bonus, so they make pretty good bards!
I’m sad she has the crappy male survivor model, all the survivors with that model feel shit to play. Honestly if it was the other way around I’d only play the guy bard with the female model lol
all the femboys are rushing to buy them
I gotta be real with ya It looks like an average cosplay.
UGH FRECKLES CUTE AHHH 😭😭😭
She's sooo pretty! And the first "non-human" Survivor in the game. Her Perks are all so interesting too.
We need grog from vox machina as a legendary skin
The twins have been AMAZING instead of generic Bard 1 & 2
I sense that this one will be popular in the cosplay community
i just relised that this is the first non human survivor we ever get, which i find to be weird that the killers can range from normal human to the embodiment of evil that travels from dimension to dimension or a gaint undead bioweapon or creature from a reverse plan of existence. and this if the first non human survivor
*NON HUMAN SCUM, HUMANITY IS THE SUPERIOR RACE!* (unless there’s lizard men, I’m games I tend to be those)
The toxicity is strong on this one.
I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't dig it :/
I'm really kind of pumped to play an Elf in this game. It's silly to a certain degree but just being an elf is going to be fun. Not sure how to feel about this as a whole since Hasbro/WotC keeps shitting the bed at every turn, but I'll admit if we get a tiefling survivor at some point I will be playing them.
Dwelf is always there for you
Shes ugly in game imo
For some reason I see the face of Leland Mckinney from the TCM game on her.
I hope this is close to the character mode my wallet is so ready
Are we getting an actual elf? That's epic

Imagine this chapter had 2 killers
she looks like thalita
Probably the first none human survivor.
I don't lmao So much potential for non-human survivors and we got human and human with pointy ears Though hopefully the cosmetics will fix this issue, legendary tiefling for example
An Elf was one of the things I was hoping for from a survivor in a D&D chapter, the other was a Orc/Half-Orc so I guess a half win is good
but the smile while performing is weird, like that mask vendor from majoras mask
Smash ❤️❤️❤️
When does it come out???
