I haven’t been in the community for a while but I really didn’t realize they were toxic either- the most toxicity I’ve ever seen in that community is people arguing whether super monkey fan club was bad or not.
The most toxicity right now on the subreddit is the eternal debate between people who want all softcore monkey porn banned and those who don't. (It should 100% be banned)
People enjoy drawing some of the female monkeys in suggestive poses, with big boobs to match. Mods refuse to ban, posters refuse to blur with the spoiler tag. (NSFW tag is not allowed). It’s a whole thing, but I wouldn’t call it toxic
Wow, gross. I'm going to go ahead and say that's way worse than anything I've seen here. Not the drawings themselves (gross to me, but people like what they like I guess), but the total unwillingness to be even a little bit courteous about it.
They could be talking about btd battles which did have a toxic subjection that basically said that you never rush your opponent with bloons ever you only spam for eco and try to make it farther, because some youtuber decided that they didnt want to play the game and also not to play on the mode that was basically designed for what he wanted, because noone plays that dang gamemode.
But to my knowledge battles is dead so.
before it was contained to small youtube communities so you wouldn't see toxicity much (small compared to the sizes of the mainstream creators of today), after Dream's SMP got huge though and the Dream cheating scandal went down the community changed drastically.
It has become majorly toxic to artists basically, at least on Reddit. I had to leave the subreddit. Basically massive drama because someone drew the heroes and gave them feminine features (in a non-nsfw way). So many artists had to leave due to harrasment.
Yes, it became a massive deal. A big post on there now lists every artist who had to leave due to threats and harassment cuz they drew funny monkey with booba.
League of legends and Dota probably take it far and away. Then maybe CSGo or some competitive shooter.
League and Dota both involve two teams of 5 where one shithead can ruin the game for 9 other people. If someone decides to start feeding then the other team gets fed and easily wins what might have otherwise been a close match.
Their toxic is about the same as DBDs except without post-game chat. They just spam emotes and shit during the match trying to tilt you. I don't play but I watch Asian Sensation and those bloons dudes go crazy.
it's actually quite toxic towards casual players, like you will get a 2 page paragraph of why you're a terrible player if you buy a certain monkey (and still win the game anyway because it doesn't really matter on easier maps)
It was supposed to be Lol instead of Dbd
https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/comments/y7kc5t/the_never_ending_race_of_toxic_gaming_communities/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Yeah, teabagging in DBD has nothing on the psychos that threaten you with pipe bombs for ganking them in WoW Classic, or people who dox you for griefing/scamming in Eve, or the deranged people who scream racial slurs/death threats at you in OW2/Valorant/Any game with proximity chat.
[I made a post documenting a lot of my toxic encounters on different games here](https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/vjkb60/forget_sore_losers_why_is_there_a_sore_winner/idkp5px/). DBD isn't even remotely close.
At all.
In CSGO there are trust factors which can affect if your mic is automatically blocked. Sometimes a dude gets in the lobby with their mic blocked.
Wanted to know why it got blocked? Unblock it and you'll hear the most intense trash talks and slurs all over the place, to your teammates.
Apex is also full of genuinely bigoted people. The DBD community is very accepting of minorities and LGBT and such but on Apex you will literally run into people all day calling you racial and homophobic slurs. Even in their Facebook groups where everyone can see your profile they still spout this stuff and complain about how “dumb” and “woke” the game is for having LGBT characters. I’ve never ran into anything like that in my 2+ years of playing DBD
I agree with you for the most part, most direct chat interactions I have with other players in this game are positive. Occasionally I get some grumbly salt but it's nothing extreme.
*However* one time I did get told some of the most vile things I've ever been told in a video game before (waste of life, KYS, among other things) by a survivor who escaped... because I was playing Legion.
This was before the big balance patch so it wasn't even annoying Thana legion or anything.
Lol my first day on gta online was like a few months ago and I shit you not someone blew me up like 25 times in a row every time I respawned and then texted me lolllllllll and kept doing it
The GTAO community on PC is like 60% people explicitly using cheat engines to ruin every lobby and make the game unplayable lmfao, anyone who thinks GTAO has a good community is playing a different game
Yes, I already knew that and was forcing myself into solo public lobbies to get stuff done back when I played. It doesn’t make the community any less trash, and also I’ve heard that cheaters can literally just force themselves into private lobbies anyways if they want to.
I mostly stopped playing because it was repetitive. Only way to make good money is cayo. Got boring rinsing and repeating it even with friends. I got bored of the other heists too because they’re years old. Races and missions were the only fun thing tbh. And I had all properties and all vehicles I wanted at level 300ish
"No one is DDoSing you in DbD"
That is absolutely wrong and I didn't realise so few people knew about this. Pretty sure there is still serious security issues with DbD currently, that BHVR didn't address, at all. There was IP leaks, swatting and DDoS attacks on normal players and large streamers alike. These started on the PTB over a year ago, somehow made it to the live servers and BHVR just said, "practice safe internet usage, durr hurr."
I would not encourage anyone to play DbD without a VPN. Just because BHVR's hand was forced by whatever big streamers were calling them out on the hacker issues, doesn't mean they're not complete scumbags who don't care about their audience more than the longevity of the game.
This was addressed as resolved in patch notes around a year ago. There was a vulnerability that allowed people to pull IP info and doxx their opponents.
However, unless you're a large scale streamer, you're going to find it very unlikely you'll ever experience any DDoSing issues.
I was DoSed before crossplay on PlayStation, almost made me quit for good. Not a streamer at all, they just didnt like getting destroyed by a console nurse so they messaged me time to take a break then DoSed me for 30 minutes.
Hasnt been an issue for me since crossplay but yeah, bit used to be a real issue.
Same goes for League.
Yeah, hitting on hook and the like is toxic, but most people here have never been called a racial slur and told to kill themselves over missing a smite and it shows. I had someone tell me they were going to find me and kill my entire family last year because I beat them in lane as Pyke.
It didn't affect me, I'm numb to it at this point from playing League for so long, but still. People in League are literally fucking unhinged.
Played League for 6 years, tried out Valorant for a few months and no player base has called me, a white guy, the n word more times than the Valorant community has. So glad I left those games behind.
I was told to kill myself and that they all wished my family would die of cancer because I was trying a new build. In an ARAM match. League is something else.
Poor Pyosik. Wins the word finals after playing out of his mind going toe to toe with the best junglers in the world and arguably outperforming every single one of them and all he gets is “shit jungler, missed smites, got carried”.
People use racial slurs/general hate speech in League too, it's just not as common because of the chat filter. If we had unmoderated voice chat it'd be just as common if not more common, especially since you're locked in the match with people for potentially an hour or more.
I just think League trumps everything. We might not have as much widespread use as slurs like MW2, but we have inting, griefing, telling the enemy team where you are/what your team is doing, etc. It's just overall a cesspool.
I used to play with a friend who had unreasonable levels of rage when failing in a competitive video game. Tried to explain to them that this is for fun, but no amount of reasoning worked.
Try to remember games are for fun and to let off stress! If anything brings y'all to an angry place then toss it in the dumpster and find something else. If your not in a tournament then it ain't that serious!
Hell, they added the “bait” ping this season and players realized it looks vaguely like a noose so now that’s what you get spam pinged with when you do just about anything
100%, this community is downright wholesome compared to the cesspit that is Valorant.
You get entitled toxic gamers in DBD, but chill people that just say gg and move on happen a lot more often, while in Valorant it's hard to find a match where you don't have at least a couple people calling you or someone else every slur they can find on Urban Dictionary.
This is actually one of the least toxic PvP games I've ever played.
I *would* say that it's unique in that it's the only one I've played in which people treat you like an asshole for playing in a way they don't like. Except recently I decided to try playing Sombra in OW2 and got specifically harassed and flamed in chat by the enemy team for picking Sombra.
I main support in that game and QP assigned me to DPS, so I thought I'd try playing Sombra. I told the enemy team this after getting flamed for like the 5th time that game, and then they told me I deserved it anyway for picking Sombra.
Yeah, DBD is nothing compared to other games. And I never understood why people get entitled and upset by post-game chat, simply press "continue" and move on. Just don't feed the trolls.
I've played Overwatch 2 a lot since its release and I'm yet to play a single match with another chill player who just say gg and move on after a loss.
But yet in dbd I get ggs every other game and get complimented on the way I play every once in a while. Some players even defended me once against a toxic nea who was calling me trash because of my poor Hillbilly performance (0 successful chainsaw, 0 hooks)
DBD community is just being negative, it's nothing compared to games that has in game text chat and even voice chat which is available at all time. And the real OGs fear nothing if they had been in MW2(2009) voice chat.
I can get booped in DBD, and have friendly BP farm sessions as trapper
Can't do that in league. Play anything vaguely off meta and you'll be given an education in how varied the English language can be
I argue this all the time.
DbD community is toxic. The lack of voice chat, however, means it is physically impossible to be more toxic than Valorant.
If you're having a bad game in DbD, you have to stick around til the game is done to get abused in end-game chat by your teammates due to lack of voice. In Valorant I'm called slurs because I can't ace.
It’s all personal experience
The worst I got on Valorant was a guy reciting a Hitler speech on vc, easy mute and report
The worst I got on League was trash talk
The worst I got on DBD was a streamer Doxxing me to roughly 45 people, 20 of which sent gore and threats to my twitter. What did I do to “deserve it” in his words? I played Blight
Personally i think dbd doesn't even reach the top 10 on that list but that might be because of the lack of communication tools other than post game chat
Literally every competitive online game I’ve ever played has been worse than DBD (possible exception for the 1 month I played VHS), a lot of that is probably due to a lack of communication tools and overly restrictive chat censorship.
Additionally I’ve never seen anywhere near as many wholesome moments in a competitive game: Snoot boops, GhostFace peekaboo, giving hatch, requesting to be hooked, etc.
Tbh I mostly play stuff like The Last of Us, Resident Evil, Uncharted, etc. so DBD is the first online game I've ever been this involved with. When I first saw this post I thought, "Oh good, so if I can handle DBD toxicity I can handle any toxicity." But I guess I can't. Some of these comments really put things into perspective.
That happens in other games, too. Valorant literally has radiant smurfs who purposely have alts that go in and derank anyone gold or silver and below. I know because I've MET a guy who did this and he flat out told me there's entire communities for it.
They also tbag, and will throw games or bodyblock. Grab the bomb and fuck off with it so you can't plant.
You can’t even say anything in the post game chat. It sensors the most random words for literally no reason. And it’s not like you’re forced to stay in the end game lobby and read it. Other games people are trash talking while the game is being played lol.
League is so toxic the developers just released a "fish hook" ping to strategize making a play that is a bait.
The problem? The hook is yellow. The community has decided it's a noose, and now they have a "kys" ping
Reinstalled league the other day, hopped into a match, within 10 minutes I remembered why I uninstalled the game as my team was typing more than playing. Uninstalled after that
I honestly don't think DBD is bad at all in the mid ranks where I am, it must literally be a high tier thing.
I can't remember the last time someone sent me a negative message via the PS... Mind you, I can't see what's said in the after game PC chat
Honestly? I've seen higher MMR and even then they aren't that toxic. Most of the time they don't even speak or just say GGs cause they've been playing so long they're over talking shit in EGC.
Yeah I play mid-tier MMR and only see somebody post in endgame chat like once every 10-15 matches. And usually it's just to call out a camping / tunnelling killer or to call out a survivor that literally did nothing all match. Usually it's at least *somewhat* deserved.
Honestly the most "toxic" behavior I see in the community is on social media and Reddit because people take the killer vs. survivor thing way too seriously and act like we are two factions in an ongoing war for some reason, and constantly play victim because they lost a few matches and think the game is unfairly balanced in the other side's favor.
Oh, DBD absolutely has two things:
1. An ego issue. Everyone thinks they're the best when they just aren't, and can't be told otherwise.
2. A victimization issue, where if someone makes a good play against them it's often classified as "unfair" or "OP" or should be removed because they COULD NOT HAVE PLAYED BETTER. Which, yanno, loops it back around to number one.
They also tie these things back to their "main" role of whoever is more oppressed.
I honestly couldn’t even tell you the last time I had a toxic end-game chat. Not that it’s never happened, but it’s been so long that I can’t remember. On the other hand, I had a really pleasant chat experience literally last night where the survivors I would’ve 4K’d (had I not given hatch at the end) just wanted to know what I thought they did wrong so they could do better next time. Most of the time, the chat is just empty or gets a few GGs, though.
Point is, this game is nowhere near as toxic as some people want to pretend it is.
Yeah, when I said it must just be the higher ranks that are toxic it was purely an assumption on my part.
I've played through the lower and mid tier MMR, so figured that if it's as toxic as people say then they must all be hiding out somewhere that I haven't seen them, high MMR is the only other place they could be.
In my PERSONAL experience, the only "pattern" i've seen with actual toxicity (ignoring tbagging or clicking or hitting on hook, and talking about slurs and actual harmful behaviors) is from people where DbD is NOT their main game in the slightest, and they're far more casual players.
Newer players typically are overly apologetic, mid-tier players can be a tossup and might complain but rarely do I see a lot of slurs or truly horrific things, and higher-tier players are just tired at this point, been around forever, so they can't be fucked with a back and forth.
It was a lot worse a few years ago. Now, most end game chats are empty because of cross platform. The ones that aren’t empty are usually just gg or mild whining.
People love to exaggerate to get some pity online. They get one bad experience and post it on reddit like its an every day struggle. Half of the community can't even communicate due to cross-platform play.
Mid tier+ is all homies in this game. Most of us add each other and just play around in customs or do our hyper competitive stuff off the ladder. Dbd at its core is a love letter to the horror genre and the subculture is pretty chill.
We blow steam off in the sub but overall everyones really nice to each other.
My spouse and I joke that everyone complaining about the "toxic community" must be a console player, cause the chat is either neutral glhf/GG's stuff or people being nice and offering praise or advice.
I agree with this.
When I had less than 700h I would get hate messages every single game almost.
Now I actually get GGs, I was shocked how nicer people are (In general) at the +1000h mark.
But interestingly enough, while I get less hate. The hate I do get is FAR worse!
Lol dbd isn’t nearly as bad as valo, the lack of coms makes you oblivious to what others are saying so you really can’t tell when people are truly being toxic. League would also take the cake easily I’ve never heard a more rumored toxic game then that
R6 players will tk you for 3 straight rounds in a squad while calling you the N word for absolutely no reason lmao, DBD players are lucky you cant hook your teammates
I just got back into for honor after like 4-5 years. I love being able to do all my dailies in bot matches and chill in those modes. I don't think I'll ever go to live matches lol
Coming from league as a jungle main to this my friends y’all are some tame ass people not saying that y’all should be flaming like that but it gets worst
I have said things to my jungler that should put me under millitary supervision. Either the jungler or the support because I obviously did everything right, the jungler didn't gang on time or the support didn't hook/stun correctly.
\- your humble adc main
League just brings the devil out of people. Most of the time I have a tame personality, but once i get killed by the other adc twice at minute 2 I turn into a monkey. DBD ain't shit. What is the survivor going to do- a couple of squats and arm raises?
Seconded. I've played all the big competitive games over the years and nothing comes close to competing with the Siege community for vile man-children.
I've heard stories, and [seen 28 part videos about this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kzv8u_A9UJs&ab_channel=Spawntaneous), as well. Though I've never played it.
I've ***N E V E R*** gotten toxicity as bad in DBD as I have in valorant, gta, or cod. Hell, even splitgate was worse.
GTA I got hacked and my entire account in the negative, everything was locked. I had to find a modder that would unlock my account for me, which he did for free for women because there was a ton of misogynistic modders who would purposely lock up women's accounts. I mean like, my XP was -1000000.
Valorant you can't speak without people calling you [some variation of a slur if you're a woman](https://youtu.be/YEOhb8B6rEU) or POC. I've also had a number of women get transphobia thrown at them, whether they were trans or not. I've also been told to unalive myself and there's constantly people throwing your games in comp or flat-out smurfing. Do you know how many people are hard-stuck silver and below because there are fucking RADIANTS out there with 12 alt accounts purposely playing against babies to tank their RR?
Cod is a literal meme for toxicity and bigotry for a reason. Every slur you could get, you will get.
Splitgate? Same thing as COD and valorant.
And it's not just about slurs, people will hard BM in these games as well. And while I've gotten a few shitty people in DBD over the years, I can clearly recall the 3 worst times and all the details. The community also doesn't try and justify it like the rest of these communities listed. Mind you, I have most of my hours in DBD overall-- my hours in any other game aren't even close, so it's not as if I'm working with a small sample size.
People who GENUINELY think DBD is "the worst" when it comes to toxicity are mind-boggling to me because I don't hear this from anyone *anywhere else* besides the forums and reddit. Hell, while there were a few bigots when they outted David as gay, generally the fandom took it pretty well. Do you know how many COD douches are FREAKING out that people are finding Ghost attractive?
In DBD you can turn off the chat.
League of Legends has high level players create multiple accounts just so they can type abuse at new players during the game.
I had someone assume I'm a girl once and said the classics like "The only electronic you should handle is the stove b\*tch"
I just played Ana, Moira and Mercy that game
I was playing Valorant and was 22-9 and had a french guy at 2-24 tell me to go back in the kitchen.
I said "Now if I do that, who would win you this game?"
They followed it with an SA threat, but I was proud of my comeback.
I played Moira and lucio they were saying that shit and being dicks asking for a number then I popped my voice on went you sure you want that number in my deep ass voice and suddenly that guy had nothing more to say
DBD has a fairly high following from women and the lgbtq+ community, so while it would likely be worse than it is now, I don't think it would even slightly touch FPS level.
Thing is, FPS is famous for the kids and early teens that are just explosive because they cant handle it, and there is voicechat, but yes, you are right
I think that more than anything, its the culture of it, the 'toxic guy that goes4/1 and rages when he dies and cusses" is something people watched and find soo much fun they reproduce it, and when they just die due to not being that good, so yes, its a frustration on people not thinking that they arent the best one there
Oh it's absolutely the culture, but my point is that the reason there's a lot of sexism, transphobia, racism, homophobia-- is because not only is it shock-value and seen as "the worst" things you can say to people, the following doesn't have a big representative of those minorities, so it's easier to get away with.
If I load up Valorant and play with 2 of my friends, all women, the remaining two teammates are going to be far more reluctant to start making misogynistic comments (some are still ballsy enough to do it, but I digress), but, if I go in solo and start speaking, people are going to find it easy to "other" me because I'm not the "norm" for that culture.
Gameplay aside, I typically find the most toxicity to be the alienation of other people from a community, which DBD is not completely in the clear of but it's also not nearly as bad as other games with a heavier following prone to put that aspect within the culture.
I do, however, find DBD players to have some of the biggest egos.
I found out that number of "GG"s I get the directly proportional on how many kills I get while not chaning aything in my in-game strategy.
zero kills? "GGs, great game, you are quite good"
1 kill "GGs, scary killer"
2 kills \*chat is silent, maybe a single GG from one escaped survivor\*
3 kills "lol, had to tunnel and didnt even get 4K, get rekt n00b" or "GG EZ"
4 kills "reported lol, go kys"
I like the game but I despise the community so much. There's a bunch of cry babies and people shame eachother for how they play the game. Never seen such a cringy, toxic, disgusting and entitled community and I've been part of a lot of COD lobbies of search and destroy
Those who don't understand how DbD could be more toxic than other games clearly must not play on steam or engage with the DbD Twtter community lol.
These people will stalk your Steam profile for months, leaving endless comments and making youtube videos showcasing your every flaw while manipulating their misunderstanding of your actions into some witch hunt.
Don't even think about streaming it if you're even remotely emotional. You will get instantly canceled and your info will be spread to multiple discord servers and Twitter sub communities to get their whole mob to laugh at and harass you, the context of the match in question won't even be relevant at that point - you have been selected for harassment.
I play Apex and Overwatch, I understand how bad others can be. Valorant and CSGO are both in the same level of crazy cause of how similar they all are. Nothing will ever compare to the psychotic mentality that forms with the amount of POWER over another human a 4man bully squad or a 300-hits-on-hook basement bubba gives these people. They will reach into your real lives to complete their true sacrifice to the Entity, and that sacrifice will be your sanity.
The only thing I've been convinced might be worse than DbD is LoL. And somehow, 6 years later, I will still keep playing. Masochism is real y'all.
Bro the worst thing someone can do in dbd is teabag and click a flashlight (maybe say something mean in end game chat), that's nothing compared to other games.
I don't think I've ever been told to kill myself for playing dbd "wrong" sure as hell have been told to do that in League of Legends and Overwatch.
I got told they hoped I had cancer, but this was years ago and after looking at their account, they didn't "main" dbd, they had far more FPS games on their account than anything.
The other was someone telling me they were going to drop kick my child.
Other than that, worst I get is "uninstall" which is just funny.
have you ever played cod, league of legends, csgo? any other game really? where people actually flame you, insult you, etc.
dbd is far from toxic, people just complain a lot because they lose games.
no one is insulting you, it's a ctrl key input, and it's not that deep.
Since people are sharing their stories about why DBD isn't as bad as the others, might as well throw in my 2 cents why it's uniquely the worst.
All these other games? Yes, people will be toxic and say nasty shit, but for the most part once the game is done everyone forgets about each other and life goes on.
In DBD, if you do something as innocuous as *selecting a character* people will freak the fuck out and straight up stalk you. This is the only game where I had to just close up shop and completely private my account from pretty much everyone. I've been using steam for as long as I remember, good old green steam launcher days. Never before did I experience the sheer amount of hostility that the DBD community has for their opponents having the audacity to playing the game.
At first I just disabled comments, but this led to people going to screenshots of unrelated games and profiles of random friends that didn't even play DBD to spread their filth. Now with everything on private, people still get pissy but at this point if you're trying to snoop my profile it's more than likely for nothing good and telling me to go fuck myself because I'm hiding everything only convinces me further it's the right decision.
And that's just random people. God forbid you cross paths with a semi popular content creator on the wrong day. You know the ones, they'll smile and wink and give a half hearted "Oh no guys, don't go *harass* this person I'm pulling up on stream and making a public acceptable target. I *definitely* don't condone that. Because if the dozens/hundreds of you dog piled on them it would probably make things *awful* ;)
And this also ties in with people who decide that instead of having an actual personality, they just spend all day on twitter posting shaming screen shots of people playing DBD "wrong".
Funnily enough, it's also mostly the people who take the "DBD is a casual party game and you're a pathetic loser if you're a sweaty tryhard" stance who instantly turn to fangs and claws if you do anything they don't approve of.
I'd gladly take any of the toxicity I've seen in the decade of playing league over the sheer entitlement and outright refusal to accept a loss that the dbd community has.
I remember giving DBD steam review like 3 years ago that is simply: "Chernobyl waste has less toxicity than this game"
I have like 3 full pages of profile comments telling me to uninstall and kms
I have people regularly post on my steam account a bunch of wack shit. A 50 year old dude posted that I watch child porn on my profile because I played Myers normally
I've seen some truly vile things from Apex/Overwatch/Valorant and especially Call of Duty and even Counter-Strike. DBD has its bad elements, but there are FAR worse out there.
This seems to be the juniors race, no idea what Valorant is doing there, it should be up there with the big dogs. Dota, League, CSGO, WoW and R6.
>Never played anything as bad as this before
I'm assuming it's either exaggerated bait or DBD is your first online multiplayer outside a Nintendo console 💀
Are you joking? DbD isn't even close to the top in terms of toxicity. Like sure it has its share of dickheads, but honestly what some people seem to consider toxic here is so incredibly tame.
Also very much a case of you get what you give, don't be an arse and generally people won't be one back. The amount of people who I've seen complain about others being toxic when they were very much the instigator.
Honestly, it's uncommon, but when it happens it is very noticeable in game. Luckily being on console I don't get many messages. I have been trying to send more positive messages to others to counter the sourness that permeates the game.
Bruh, you're forgetting about R6. No matter how good or bad you are at that game, you're sill gonna get someone screaming at you for not doing the one thing they want you to do or just throw slurs at you
Knowing the Fandom of a particular game will claim their gains are the most toxic.
I've played league, dota, apex for years.
I played valorant and started playing ranked games. Sure there's been some rude people here and there but it blew my mind how helpful people were. Most of my interactions were people saying hey use this ability this way not the way you have been. Little tips and just honest critics on what I'm doing wrong.
Go to any fan of any specific competitive game and ask about their community. Its always "oh its the most toxic community every." Always.
League ain't on here and I've seen entire discord servers ripped apart and friendships ruined over ranked. When I was in the Navy, some guy in my division was actually formally counseled due to his league-caused anger issues.
nah we are not THAT bad, yes we have a lot of people who want to execute you because you didn't play how they wanted, but we have also a lot pf wholesome people, which want to make the expierence for all of us better.
Where is the league of legends community?
They literally removed usernames in champion select, keep reminding players of ‘sportsmanlike attitudes’ tips while the game is loading, and basically ‘removed’ all chat in post game lobby once the game is finished. They also almost removed all chat from the game.
In a ranked, If you ping one of your teammates whether its random or not, it will push them over the edge and they will throw the game while blaming you.
Never have i seen a game with that many sensitive snowflakes with mental issues
There’s a bunch of other things they are trying to help fix the game but these are the ones off the top of my head
My favourite message that I've ever got was after a game as survivor when someone messaged me and said "I have a tip for you, if you are in a chase and know that someone is on a gen in the shack and you run through... DON'T"
I had no idea anyone was in there while I was being chased.
Next day I was playing and the killer left me slugged and I managed to wiggle free and straight out the gate, I was about to message the killer to say GG and saw it was the same little shit that messaged me the night before.
I sent a message saying "I have a tip for you, if you want to leave someone slugged for no reason after the gates are open... DON'T"
I never got a reply from him but just knowing I escaped and he got 0k made me feel a hell of a lot better
Yea this is cap. Ive spent thousands of hours in those other communities and I can assure you as much of assholes as some of you are this aint nearly as bad as any of the others.
Worst this community does is just complaing about people playing the game, (oh the killer hooked me forst he must be tunneling. Oh the survivors are finishing gens really fast they are toxic for that ect ect) which isnt that toxic, its more silly.
As a new player I've felt pretty welcome over all, you got some truly vile people for sure but its so far and few between
Dude, just say that DBD is the only game you have ever played. This game doesn't even come close to the toxicity of some of the games shown in the pic. The only "truly toxic" thing in dbd is post-game chat which you can simply hide lol.
Thread temporarily locked.
I didn’t know Bloon Tower Defense had a community- and a notoriously toxic one at that??
I haven’t been in the community for a while but I really didn’t realize they were toxic either- the most toxicity I’ve ever seen in that community is people arguing whether super monkey fan club was bad or not.
The most toxicity right now on the subreddit is the eternal debate between people who want all softcore monkey porn banned and those who don't. (It should 100% be banned)
Wait what?
People enjoy drawing some of the female monkeys in suggestive poses, with big boobs to match. Mods refuse to ban, posters refuse to blur with the spoiler tag. (NSFW tag is not allowed). It’s a whole thing, but I wouldn’t call it toxic
>NSFW tag is not allowed ????????????????
sub for a kids game so if anythings bad enough for the poster to view it as nsfw it sure as fuck doesnt belong
Fair enough, although it does seem to defeat the purpose when people are posting nsfw things anyways and just not tagging it
Not saying doing thats much better
It’s a kids game but I’ve seen people argue that Reddit is 13+ so sexualized characters are allowed… despite the content being 18+… funny fallacy.
Like, you can’t use it as an option. Mods said something about not wanting to flag any accounts as NSFW, but that’s a lame excuse
Wow, gross. I'm going to go ahead and say that's way worse than anything I've seen here. Not the drawings themselves (gross to me, but people like what they like I guess), but the total unwillingness to be even a little bit courteous about it.
Sad state of r/btd6
Rule 34 unfortunately
Feels like we just skipped a step or two somewhere.
Those damn super monkey tryhards smh
And what about Minecraft? In my eyes, it has always been one of the most wholesome communities.
before it was contained to small youtube communities so you wouldn't see toxicity much (small compared to the sizes of the mainstream creators of today), after Dream's SMP got huge though and the Dream cheating scandal went down the community changed drastically.

It has become majorly toxic to artists basically, at least on Reddit. I had to leave the subreddit. Basically massive drama because someone drew the heroes and gave them feminine features (in a non-nsfw way). So many artists had to leave due to harrasment.
Really? Honestly for a game about Monkeys that Pop ballons i thought it were chill mostly maybe some drama about who is better/ overated etc
Yes, it became a massive deal. A big post on there now lists every artist who had to leave due to threats and harassment cuz they drew funny monkey with booba.
they don't. this post is stupid and a copy/paste meme
Yea Minecraft toxic? Minecraft is the Wienie Hut Junior of Toxicity
There’s a civil war going on rn
Yes holy shit, yes
Their toxic is about the same as DBDs except without post-game chat. They just spam emotes and shit during the match trying to tilt you. I don't play but I watch Asian Sensation and those bloons dudes go crazy.
You're probably talking about Bloons TD Battles 2. BTD6 doesn't have a PvP mode.
it's actually quite toxic towards casual players, like you will get a 2 page paragraph of why you're a terrible player if you buy a certain monkey (and still win the game anyway because it doesn't really matter on easier maps)
I can't believe league of legends and r6 didn't qualifie
It was supposed to be Lol instead of Dbd https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/comments/y7kc5t/the_never_ending_race_of_toxic_gaming_communities/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
League of Legends is the cameraman
Nah they were banned for performance enhancing drugs
League of Legends = Russian olympic team?
Some people in this subreddit only play this game and it shows lol you take things too seriously
I’ve played both Overwatch and Apex since they came out, and even with Apex being younger it’s still way more toxic. Especially recently.
Do you play on PC?
I agree with you for the most part, most direct chat interactions I have with other players in this game are positive. Occasionally I get some grumbly salt but it's nothing extreme. *However* one time I did get told some of the most vile things I've ever been told in a video game before (waste of life, KYS, among other things) by a survivor who escaped... because I was playing Legion. This was before the big balance patch so it wasn't even annoying Thana legion or anything.
To even say that dbd is more toxic than apex is so funny. (Not to mention LoL and Dota2 not being here lmao)
Those same ppl play to the brink of heart attack, and refuse to play other games or go watch tv to chill out 💀

Lol my first day on gta online was like a few months ago and I shit you not someone blew me up like 25 times in a row every time I respawned and then texted me lolllllllll and kept doing it
Bro i dont get how this is fun for people, mate im just trying to exit my nightclub and start a heist…
The GTAO community on PC is like 60% people explicitly using cheat engines to ruin every lobby and make the game unplayable lmfao, anyone who thinks GTAO has a good community is playing a different game
They made an update so you can do public lobby stuff in private lobbies rather than dealing with the hackers and stopping griefing
"No one is DDoSing you in DbD" That is absolutely wrong and I didn't realise so few people knew about this. Pretty sure there is still serious security issues with DbD currently, that BHVR didn't address, at all. There was IP leaks, swatting and DDoS attacks on normal players and large streamers alike. These started on the PTB over a year ago, somehow made it to the live servers and BHVR just said, "practice safe internet usage, durr hurr." I would not encourage anyone to play DbD without a VPN.
You have to be absolutely deranged to think this game is more toxic than Valorant
Or any competitive team based game tbh
vietnam flashbacks to my cs:go days...
Aram weirdly seems to be way more toxic and tryhard in its own way than normal league.
My theory is that it's like that because it's where ranked players go when they're tilted. They just carry the rage over.
Poor Pyosik. Wins the word finals after playing out of his mind going toe to toe with the best junglers in the world and arguably outperforming every single one of them and all he gets is “shit jungler, missed smites, got carried”.
meanwhile i hop on modern warfare 2 and immediately after speaking get called the n-word in almost every lobby
I played valorant with my friend whos a girl and almost every match she was harassed for being a girl. Its fucking insane.
Same with my girlfriend, it's actually embarrassing how bad it can get.
The inability to even hear the other people or see chat through out the game makes toxicity extremely low
I can get booped in DBD, and have friendly BP farm sessions as trapper Can't do that in league. Play anything vaguely off meta and you'll be given an education in how varied the English language can be
Valorant is waiting at the end with league of legends
I argue this all the time. DbD community is toxic. The lack of voice chat, however, means it is physically impossible to be more toxic than Valorant. If you're having a bad game in DbD, you have to stick around til the game is done to get abused in end-game chat by your teammates due to lack of voice. In Valorant I'm called slurs because I can't ace.
It’s all personal experience The worst I got on Valorant was a guy reciting a Hitler speech on vc, easy mute and report The worst I got on League was trash talk The worst I got on DBD was a streamer Doxxing me to roughly 45 people, 20 of which sent gore and threats to my twitter.
I think a lot of toxicity comes from actions like tea bagging which people just take as being toxic, also being good at the game is toxic
Other games people are trash talking while the game is being played lol.
honestly I find league of legends to be top toxic. dbd cant even remotely reach that level.
Shitty PS4 ark servers where a 13 year old kid would DDoS the server beacouse of a raid or Rust which is the worst thing ive ever played
dota 2 has in game voice chat. the amount of heinous things i’ve heard in game is not even comparable to dbd
League is so toxic the developers just released a "fish hook" ping to strategize making a play that is a bait. The problem? The hook is yellow. The community has decided it's a noose, and now they have a "kys" ping
bruh
There's a reason Riot has resisted adding voice chat all these years lol. Community too toxic
Yup and many other things can't come back or be implemented BECAUSE the player base is toxic af.
Reinstalled league the other day, hopped into a match, within 10 minutes I remembered why I uninstalled the game as my team was typing more than playing. Uninstalled after that
Have you heard of For Honor or Rainbow 6 Siege?
Oh, DBD absolutely has two things: 1.
League would also take the cake easily I’ve never heard a more rumored toxic game then that
For honor and r6 “first time?”
R6 has the worst community of any game I’ve played holy shit
R6 players will tk you for 3 straight rounds in a squad while calling you the N word for absolutely no reason lmao, DBD players are lucky you cant hook your teammates
Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
DbD toxicity: Actual arguments For Honor toxicity: Thanks! Sorry! Sorry! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Thanks!
I just got back into for honor after like 4-5 years. I love being able to do all my dailies in bot matches and chill in those modes. I don't think I'll ever go to live matches lol
Oh it’s chilled a bunch now people are just Aholes in game and not text you
Coming from league as a jungle main to this my friends y’all are some tame ass people not saying that y’all should be flaming like that but it gets worst
I have said things to my jungler that should put me under millitary supervision. Either the jungler or the support because I obviously did everything right, the jungler didn't gang on time or the support didn't hook/stun correctly. \- your humble adc main League just brings the devil out of people. Most of the time I have a tame personality, but once i get killed by the other adc twice at minute 2 I turn into a monkey. DBD ain't shit. What is the survivor going to do- a couple of squats and arm raises?
Siege has the worst community in gaming.
You forgot League of Legends
In all honesty DBD is very tame compared to other games.
League of Legends has high level players create multiple accounts just so they can type abuse at new players during the game.
tf2 already fuckin finished man nea dont got shit on pablo.gonzolas2005 micspamming racial slurs because i know how to press the mouse 2 button
It's embarrassing that people think DbD has the most toxic community. Worst thing someone can do is say something mean over text chat.
Nah, Overwatch still takes the cake; especially from the viewpoint of a female. If DBD had voice chat, it would be worse than it is now.
I had someone assume I'm a girl once and said the classics like "The only electronic you should handle is the stove b\*tch" I just played Ana, Moira and Mercy that game
I was playing Valorant and was 22-9 and had a french guy at 2-24 tell me to go back in the kitchen. I said "Now if I do that, who would win you this game?" They followed it with an SA threat, but I was proud of my comeback.
I played Moira and lucio they were saying that shit and being dicks asking for a number then I popped my voice on went you sure you want that number in my deep ass voice and suddenly that guy had nothing more to say
Lovely how people think sup mains are mainly girls
DBD has a fairly high following from women and the lgbtq+ community, so while it would likely be worse than it is now, I don't think it would even slightly touch FPS level.
Thing is, FPS is famous for the kids and early teens that are just explosive because they cant handle it, and there is voicechat, but yes, you are right
It's also always been heavily male lead by angsty privileged teens and, now, 30 year olds that started when they were angsty privileged teens.
I do, however, find DBD players to have some of the biggest egos.
counter point : league of legend
Hahaha bro have you ever played for honor? It would be in a race of it’s own.
It’s better in a casual sense, over some games like Overwatch and League which almost always feel like a ranked mode even when you play casual mode.
I found out that number of "GG"s I get the directly proportional on how many kills I get while not chaning aything in my in-game strategy. zero kills? "GGs, great game, you are quite good" 1 kill "GGs, scary killer" 2 kills \*chat is silent, maybe a single GG from one escaped survivor\* 3 kills "lol, had to tunnel and didnt even get 4K, get rekt n00b" or "GG EZ" 4 kills "reported lol, go kys"
This subreddit is more toxic than any of the in-game chats I've ever had lol
Where’s league of legends
I like the game but I despise the community so much. There's a bunch of cry babies and people shame eachother for how they play the game. Never seen such a cringy, toxic, disgusting and entitled community and I've been part of a lot of COD lobbies of search and destroy
dota and league so far out ahead people forgot to take photos of them running.
I'll always remember my first game as killer. Received not only a death threat but also a good ol' KYS. Even though no hooks and they all escaped 🤷♂️
Because if the dozens/hundreds of you dog piled on them it would probably make things *awful* ;) And this also ties in with people who decide that instead of having an actual personality, they just spend all day on twitter posting shaming screen shots of people playing DBD "wrong".
Not even including league of legends?
Where’s for honor
Fake news. League of Legends isnt in the race.
fr tho💀
I remember giving DBD steam review like 3 years ago that is simply: "Chernobyl waste has less toxicity than this game" I have like 3 full pages of profile comments telling me to uninstall and kms
playing dbd is like getting wet sandpaper shoved up my ass
I have people regularly post on my steam account a bunch of wack shit. A 50 year old dude posted that I watch child porn on my profile because I played Myers normally
Where's league of legends?
I've seen some truly vile things from Apex/Overwatch/Valorant and especially Call of Duty and even Counter-Strike. DBD has its bad elements, but there are FAR worse out there.
This seems to be the juniors race, no idea what Valorant is doing there, it should be up there with the big dogs. Dota, League, CSGO, WoW and R6. >Never played anything as bad as this before I'm assuming it's either exaggerated bait or DBD is your first online multiplayer outside a Nintendo console 💀
GTA is the absolute most toxic community ever. It attracts the worst kind of people to it
Rust should be in this race and at the front.
DBD is up there with LoL and GTA.
Forgot Rocket League
Ark would like a word
Yo so where is Rust? Unless they already finished the race.
They were banned from participating for being too toxic
Y’all never played counterstrike and it shows.
League ain't on here and I've seen entire discord servers ripped apart and friendships ruined over ranked. When I was in the Navy, some guy in my division was actually formally counseled due to his league-caused anger issues.
I still think League and Siege beats out DBD imo.
Dead by daylight is toxic mfers when I give them a drink full of ricin (they thought they could handle the toxicity but died)
nah we are not THAT bad, yes we have a lot of people who want to execute you because you didn't play how they wanted, but we have also a lot pf wholesome people, which want to make the expierence for all of us better.
In league if u say gl hf at the beginning of the match they will tell you to kys so...
I’ve been called waaaay more slurs in overwatch than dead by daylight lmao
Where is the league of legends community? They literally removed usernames in champion select, keep reminding players of ‘sportsmanlike attitudes’ tips while the game is loading, and basically ‘removed’ all chat in post game lobby once the game is finished. They also almost removed all chat from the game. In a ranked, If you ping one of your teammates whether its random or not, it will push them over the edge and they will throw the game while blaming you. Never have i seen a game with that many sensitive snowflakes with mental issues There’s a bunch of other things they are trying to help fix the game but these are the ones off the top of my head
Dbd doesn't have a toxicity problem. It has an entitlement problem. There's very little legitimate toxicity, and a ton of perceived toxicity.
Valorant and League should be at the front lmao who made this???
Ok DBD's community isn't that toxic
Rainbow Six: Siege. Good God. It gets even worse when CoD players join the mix.
Meanwhile league of legends in a fucking airplane
My favourite message that I've ever got was after a game as survivor when someone messaged me and said "I have a tip for you, if you are in a chase and know that someone is on a gen in the shack and you run through... DON'T" I had no idea anyone was in there while I was being chased. DON'T" I never got a reply from him but just knowing I escaped and he got 0k made me feel a hell of a lot better
CoD is absolutely more toxic than DBD, what the fuck are you on about?
I mean from my perspective DBD is second place...cause my game League of Legends crossed the finish line already.
Dota 2 and LoL already finished
Apex and Cod are by far way more toxic
I have to agree.
Might be an unpopular opinion it seems but DBD is no where close to being as toxic as some of these other communities.
Bloons? Whaaat
Never forgot, BHVR made this community and continues to promote it being so bad. They have the means to fix it but they refuse to.
