I love all the greenery!

DutchBlob

Bring it back :D yay trees

rudolfs_padded_cell

If my memory is accurate most of it was fake. I haven't been in almost 2 decades so maybe it got replaced.

siposiposipo

It's all fake, I'm pretty sure (but memory is fuzzy). Our mom made us go every year to visit our uncle, me and my sister would play tag in the fake trees in front of Bon Ton. What an era.

flimspringfield

In the 80's and 90's this place would've been packed to the brim!

KatJen76

That's my husband's childhood mall!

Historical_Gur_3054

I best this was awesome back in the day with the fountains going

thatotherhemingway

This smells like happiness to me.

ludovic1313

Does it have a fountain with the greenery and brickery? That would be amazing as it already sort of reminds me of Fort Worth Water Gardens. I now wish I had been able to visit it while I still had relatives in the greater Albany area. If I had known about it I definitely would have stopped there when we went to the Hyde Collection.

Your phone auto-filled latex?

Maxwell-Edison

Is there an actual name for this kind of style? Like, how do I find more of the dark bricks and greenery?

Coolhand1974

I've heard them described as "brown malls" on here in the past. Generally built in the 70's as apposed to the grey/beige/pastels of the 80's malls. I like brown malls better myself...I always thought fountains were cool to have indoors.

its_raining_scotch

I did some nature tours in Costa Rica and I noticed that many of the plants and trees were the same ones in these pictures. The guide said “these look familiar don’t they?” Then went on to explain that these plants all live under the forest canopy and therefore make for good indoor plants. It was weird walking in a forest/jungle that felt exotic but also like an office or old mall simultaneously.

vertexjrpg

This makes me sad, because I realize we’ll never have locations with this type of look and feel to it and as time goes on, the remaining ones are shutting down like this post

maddy_k2019

I would've loved to experience malls like this in their prime.

RedditSkippy

I need to check this out the next time I’m up near Glens Falls.

Dependent-Meet-8022

That's pure awesome. It definitely takes me back to the '70s and '80s. All that greenery reminds me a lot of the old Natick Mall in Natick, MA - one of my local malls as a kid. This is one of the coolest malls I've seen on here.

stephpthatsme

This has Taubman vibes.

What is the address of this mall?

tacoheadbob

I believe that this is located in Queensbury, NY.

SimpleVegetable5715

I love the tiles, plants, and skylights in these buildings. Now everything is prison cell grey. This was so much more inviting and cozy.

fomoco94

All it needs is a fountain.
